Chapter 6 -

Edelfelt vs Matou (Part I)

On that same day, after hours of scouting the school ground, they're about to discuss the plan on stopping Kiara. However, the sound of a roaring crowd in the distance is quite a distraction they cannot ignore. Finding a secluded area to observe what is happening, Archer and the others were surprised after seeing what it was.

"Are they fighting each other?" Rin asks in disbelief. Two individuals in their battle stance, seizing one another as they stand in the middle of a field, surrounded by cheering masses waiting for them to clash with each other. "What is the meaning of this? Isn't the Grail War starting the day after tomorrow?"

"Yes, I heard that as well." Archer replied calmly. "But it doesn't look like the same duel from the Holy Grail War." Using his keen vision, he's able to see the premise more clearly compared to everyone. "There seem to be no servants involved in their battle. Perhaps a duel between masters only." He relies on the group.

"Maybe this is what BB said earlier. About the thing she's going to do this afternoon. She said something about a duel that she's excited to watch, correct?" Queen Sheba commented after remembering their meeting recently.

"Yeah, that is right." Merlin answered. "So this is that 'duel' she's talking about. A fight between masters?" The woman murmured to herself in amusement. "Huh…? Wait, isn't that?" She stuttered a bit after seeing that familiar frizzy raven-colored hair.

Following the magus gaze, Archer looks quite surprised knowing who's fighting in the arena. "It's that kid. The one with us yesterday." He said and made everyone gasp from shock. "His opponent must be the guy that BB is talking about." Just looking at both of them, they look capable enough to not rely on a servant to fight. He admits his interest to see the fight.

"What should we do, Rin? Do you want us to step in and stop the fight?" asked by Queen Sheba.

"No, not now. Let first see their battle closely." She replied firmly. Though Rin has little engrossment toward the duel, these people studied and trained to become a Spiritual-Hacker for a year, and after seeing that man's ability from yesterday. She couldn't help but to wonder what kind of code cast these people learned from here, could they perhaps surpass both hers, Hakuno, or even Leo Harway abilities?

"However, we'll intercept if something goes wrong. And if that happens, remember, no casualties." Rin ordered before walking ahead from the group followed by Merlin and Queen Sheba.

Archer gave one last glance at the battle before he followed. But something caught his attention while looking at them. "That form...He knows about it?!" A technique he saw from a deadly man, a fighting style that he used mainly for assassinations, and one that almost took his life before.

It's called the Snake

To see it being used by none other by him had definitely surprised him. It's a deadly technique especially for those who are unprepared for it. And seeing the kid charging in recklessly, he's going to get himself killed!

"Dammit!" He cursed before sprinting into the arena.

Ren saw the smirk on his face and then something else. Be it an illusion or not, but he saw a humongous poisonous snake behind Akechi, staring him in the eye, as if a predator looking into its prey. He felt Death is approaching. And then-

Everything around him turned black and white. The colors he saw from the crowd are all gone and been replaced by these dim shades. There is still normalcy in the flow of time, though colorless, he can see the dauntless Akechi approaching him and from his right hand, a line or crack is stretching its way to his chest.

This strange occurrence around his view, it's not the first time it happened to him. In fact, he's been experiencing this event for eight years. After waking up inside the machine his father built, he found him resting underneath the shade of a tree. His body now an empty husk is finally able to rest in peace after all those years taking care of him. After being reborn on a different world, he's now all alone, left by himself to survive in this harsh environment.

These events first take place following the day his father died. It was during the time when he met a group of strangers in front of their cabin. Hungry, thirsty, and exhausted from days of travelling. In search of help, they stumble upon his place, asking generously for food and water.

His father taught him how to hunt, he has food to survive for a month, he's willing to share it with them seeing the starving look in their face and the need for help. However, before his father died, he always reminded him to be careful of people to trust.

The chaotic state around the world, the countless wars for resources, and the desperation on everyone's heart. Mankind are turning into savage animals that will kill anyone for their own survival. Families could get massacred for their clothes, strangers could get butchered for food, and a child could die for a drop of water.

His father protected him from these kinds of savages. But now that he's all alone, how can he shield himself from them? When his kindness and willingness to help had become part of his soul. How can he survive against an unmerciful environment?

Unfortunately, he learned this lesson in a hard way. When a man sneaked up behind him with a knife in hand. He felt a strange feeling that came around him, like a wind that passed through him, and then followed by the grim scenery of the world losing its color.

"Keep living, Ren Amamiya." The voice of his father rings inside his head.

From the corner of his vision, he saw a crack, like a zigzagging scribble coming from the sharp tip of the knife that the man was holding, and extending toward his back. He doesn't know what is happening and was in disbelief the whole time, luckily, he's an adult inside a child's body, he didn't freeze in panic and was able to react.

He quickly twisted his body to the side. Although he avoided getting stabbed in the back in the nick of time, his hand however didn't. Holding his voice from crying in immense pain. The man and his group have no sign of concern for his well being, all of them are plastered with a smile of malice on their faces, and they're encouraging the man to continue without remorse in their voices.

Seeing his impending doom, he endured the pain, grind his teeth together, and dashed toward the door of his house before slamming it behind. He can hear them calling him out, laughing as they knock through the door, while the others are looking creepy through the window.

This scenery reminds him of the horror that happened in Okinawa but even more frightening. These people are going to kill him and they're doing it of their own free will. For their own survival, they didn't just become evil, they also became monsters hungry to live.

Knowing he cannot use his persona outside a distorted domain. He needs to do something in order to save himself from this predicament. Taking off his cloth, he uses it to stop his hand from bleeding. Approaching his father's drawer, he opened it and grabbed the gun found inside it.

A TT33 semi-automatic pistol also known as the Tokarev. It's the same gun model he used on the Metaverse. He can't help but to be a little awed now that he's holding the real model of the gun. Regardless, he used it to feed off the savages, shooting warning shots to scare them.

Despite their ominous intention. He cannot bring himself to kill them. He'll never sink on their level.

After all of that, he packed his bag and left the cabin for good. There is a chance that those people will come back and finish what they failed to do. Since that day he started living inside the woods. However, those strange episodes where his vision turned black and white continued even after he joined the Edelfelt Family.

According to the family's personal doctors and psychiatrist. There is nothing wrong with his eyes, both are working normally. He's also not suffering from any mental illness. Although they did notice his extrasensory perception, also called the sixth sense, being vastly unlocked.

He isn't sure if what they found is about that phenomenon or his 'Third Eye' ability to see things hidden to the naked eye. Regardless, he may not know what it is, but he discovered that letting those 'cracks' touch him will lead to critical wounds or worse closer to Death.

It may sound like a great ability to have, but it's not consistent, since he doesn't know how to trigger it to work. It could activate in broad daylight without any hints of danger, and could not during the time he needed it. Due to its randomness, he doesn't rely on it that much, he instead honed his reflex rather than trying to figure out how to make it work.

Back to the present. Ren saw the line closing its distance to his chest. He swiftly turned his body avoiding the strike, but when his eyesight turned to normal, he missed to notice the second strike coming from his right rib. The crowd went quiet from their deafening cries when the young man with raven hair collapsed on the ground.

"What happened!?" Waver stands up from his feet after seeing the friend his cheering has fallen. Shock is written all over his face, he was watching their fight closely, observing every movement they made, and yet he didn't see what Akechi did to Ren.

Looking on his side, everyone seems to be on the same page, they also do not know what just happened. Then again, even Ren has no idea what hit him, couldn't discern if it's a code cast or physical. All he knows is that his right rib hurt, maybe fractured, but he can still move.

Pushing himself back up. Ren coughed and saw the spattered blood that came from it. Even so, he keeps going until his feet are standing on the ground. He's able to perceive his first strike, but the second one came out of nowhere, he couldn't even determine the shape of that attack. It's neither straight nor curved.

'I didn't expect myself to miss the first strike.' Akechi thought before locking his gaze at the Edelfelt heir who is enduring the pain on his ribs. 'Perhaps I got a little clumsy and that gave it away for him to evade it.' Returning to his fight stance. He wanted to go for the one-hit-kill, but then realized that killing his opponent is prohibited by the Headmaster.

'Whatever, guess I'll play with him a little more. I do said to Archibald that I'll torture him.'

"Come." He challenged once again.

Wiping the trail of blood on his mouth, Ren went back to his fighting stance, and carefully observed his opponent who's patiently waiting for him to make a move. He must figure out his fighting style, it may vary from different cultures and countries, but determining it will reveal its weakness to him.

He needs to think harder and fast. 'Fighting styles sometimes represent where their name came from. The image of a venomous snake. Its quick and precise attack to inject venom to its enemy.' Ren reimagine mentally while feeling the dull and sharp pain of his ribs.

"That might be it...But I still need to gather evidence to solidify it." He whispers underneath his breath before releasing a soft sigh. "This is going to be reckless." He said before charging toward his waiting adversaries.

It appeared once again, behind Akechi is the aura of a humongous snake watching intimidating, and it has a more fiercer look compared from before. When the reptile pounced, opening its venomous mouth to strike him, without his other sixth sense ability, he tried to anticipate its attack to successfully dodge it, however. 'My left?!' his instinct takes over and moves his body to the other direction.

"Tsk!" Ren grunted as he absorbed the blow on his right shoulder. The force of the impact pushed his feet on the ground. 'When did it-?' He saw where it was coming and yet he still got hitten by it. 'Did I miss something?' In the moment of his disbelief. Akechi went for another strike.

Ren's vision turned black and white again. He saw the crack from Akechi's right fist coming straight to his face. He leaned his back to get out of its range. He then tried to retaliate by grabbing his hand before pulling him to his waiting knee. But Akechi put a reverse on him, he instead was the one who was pulled, and using his right arm, Akechi slammed his elbow to his face.

This made Ren stumble a few meters away from his opponent before hitting the floor. The crowd then roared to a possible knock-out end result of the duel of the two. BB immediately ran to where Ren landed and began the countdown.

Luvia, Ayaka, and Waver are on the edge of their seats. Shouting Ren's name to get up.

Meanwhile, Akechi simply stood in the distance. The count is already on its half, once it reaches ten then he wins their duel. "I shouldn't put too much on that one." He said to himself. He's hoping to prolong the fight a bit more. Perhaps to the point where he can use one of his mystic codes against him.

Ren couldn't hear his surroundings and his vision was blurry at the same time. 'Such speed and strength…' Akechi's attacks are too fast, too vivid, he is still having a hard time reading his movement. Though his sixth sense ability could sense them, it is still very hard to rely on it.

"Eight!"

Realizing the meaning behind that word. He pulled all of his strength to get back standing. "Can you still fight?" Ren heard the Headmaster voice. He nodded his head to answer. Seeing BB's hand gesture, the crowd roared once again since the duel isn't over yet.

He still needs to figure out the pattern of his attack. It's possible that Akechi is doing something to disrupt his senses. Could it be a code cast? Maybe a reinforcement that boosts his speed?

He might be able to match his speed if he turns into his Rebellious form. But then again, he wanted to keep his cards hidden from everyone.

"Come." Akechi said once again before returning into his fighting stance.

Ren notices that Akechi keeps his arms and form steady like a rock while waiting for him to make a move. He attacked at such incredible speed that it left no hints as to how he advanced. Lastly, he probably is not hitting him with his fist, his strike inflicts sharp and dull pain compared to a blunt one.

'Strange. Why is he letting me make the first move? He can win this match by putting the offense on me.'

He has a feeling that he'll get beaten once again by advancing toward him. Maybe a different approach would suffice. One that he learned from all his fighting experience, if he cannot expose its weakness, then he'll just create his own.

Pulling the TT33 gun model from its holster. It's sheer weight might be different from the one he used in the Metaverse, but the feeling of holding it is the same. Pointing it at his opponent. The two stared off, the crowd went quiet in anticipation, and BB cautiously observed the gun.

If something lethal came out of its barrel. She'll announce Ren's disqualification and revoke his rank promotion.

Akechi couldn't help but to smirk. 'Using a Mystic code already?' He said while staring at the gun that Ren's pointing at him. A Code cast is a sequence of spells compiled into program codes to be used inside the Moon Cell. Meanwhile, a Mystic code is a tool or some sort that helps the user to perform Magecraft. It's more powerful compared to the former, since a top tier Mystic code has an equivalent power to a missile.

Though a Mystic code in the form of a gun? Many magus of the old will despise his choice for such a thing. Regardless, he's quite interested in what the Edelfelt heir mystic code can do.

"Gandr...!" Ren shouted before pulling the trigger. Firing a pistol bullet that possesses a destructive power ravenging a straight path with it's glowing crimson color. Sensing its strength, Akechi quickly got out of its way before it exploded.

"That can't be a normal Gandr Shot." He murmured to himself. He knew the spell had a comparable power to a side-arm gun. Though a single hit is not enough to kill a normal person, it is still capable of knocking out someone. However, what Ren fired is more powerful. He imagines a concentrated Gandr could have a comparable power to a real gun, but what he witnesses is more than that, it has an explosive power like a bomb.

Though a little slower compared to the normal one.

"Perhaps that Mystic code is what gives it power." Usually the spell is fired through the caster index finger. He hadn't heard of a Gandr to be fired on an actual gun, then again Ren came from the Edelfelt clan. A family known to be the best Gandr-user in the world.

Regardless, he misses his opportunity, the element of surprise is gone out the window, and much worse Ren just revealed to him the power of his Mystic Code. Such a let down.

"Is this all you can do?" Akechi questions while having no trouble dodging the explosive Gandr shots from his opponent. He can easily dodge it's projectile speed and get away from the range of explosion. Getting cornered by the spell is out of the equation since Ren couldn't fire them rapidly. Needed at least three second to reload and fire.

"Child's play." He said and closed the distance between them. Though his pistol is touching his forehead. There is no way he's going to fire another one at this range. He'll also get into the explosion if he did. "It seems you're in position for a checkmate." Akechi announced while staring into his opponent's eyes.

A single uppercut will surely knock him down. He can already tell that this match is over. "Hmm?" Akechi pauses for a moment after feeling like something touched his body. "Better luck next time, Ren Edelfelt." Ignoring what it was. Akechi smiled while preparing to launch his finishing blow.

However, a confident smirk from Ren made him hesitate for a moment.

Like many of the audiences who are on the edge of their seats. Ayaka is one of them, she's been cheering for her friend, although not as loud as Waver. But after hearing a soft giggle from Luvia, her gaze moved away from the duel and settled on the girl in puzzlement.

"Is something wrong, Ayaka-san?" Her club advisor asks.

Kariya then catches the noise from his side. "Um, Luvia-san?" He called the elegant girl who's giggling to herself.

"Oh am I making some noise?" She said in wonder before smiling when they nodded. "I'm sorry about that. But seeing that look from my little brother just gives me the chills." Luvia happily sighs. She remembers those times when they're kids and sparring together, whenever she thought she bested him, he'd stand up with that signature smirk, and twice as confident as before.

Relaxing to her seat. She knows that what is about to happen next is something worth watching. Because there is one thing she knows about him. He's always been a showoff.

"Checkmate you say?" Ren uttered before releasing a soft chuckle. "I think you got it switched." He said and kept the confident smirk on his facade. "You felt something a moment ago, did you not?"

"You're now under a curse."

"What are you talking about?" Akechi questioned.

"Gandr: Sukunda. That is the name of the curse I put on you. You can see it's mark underneath your clothes." Ren revealed to the Matou heir. "I just need to activate it for the curse to spread all over your body-"

"As if I'll give you a chance!" Akechi then launches a deadly uppercut on Ren. He'd just give him an opportunity to retaliate. He never heard of such a curse, but whatever it is, he won't let anybody get to beat him.

A strike below the chin will surely knock him out. Cementifying his victory against him. Though it's upsetting that he wasn't able to show his magecraft to everyone, this may cause some adjustment, he's going to apologize to his grandfather about this later on.

"Hmm...?!" Seconds had passed but his fingers felt like it hit nothing. It's impossible for him to evade his strike, he isn't able to jump away from it, his technique is quick and unpredictable.

"It's rude to interrupt someone when they're talking, you know."

He heard Ren's voice from behind before an explosion hit him. The crowd roared in excitement seeing the one-sided match made a huge turn. The titled Akechi Matou is now laying on the ground.

Akechi is in disbelief. It's impossible to evade his strike in that range! What did he do?! How did he do it?! "When did you get behind me?" He questioned before straggling up to his feet.

"I was behind you the whole time." Ren answered after putting his gun back to its holster. "You didn't notice it since you're too busy dodging those Gandr shots. But I use another code cast. A simple yet effective spell named 'Afterimage'."

"After the first three shots. You're just basically dodging nothing but the illusions from that spell." Just like the spell name is. It can create an afterimage of the caster, it can also project any sort of movement from running to punching that the caster thinks off. And on a higher level, a projection of spells is possible. However, because they're just an illusion, they have no physical means to harm anybody.

Akechi couldn't help but to smile. "I can't believe I'd fall for that. So then that 'Curse' is nothing but a ruse to fool me as well?"

"Nope, that curse is real." Ren replied before cracking his fists. "It has already taken effect on your body. Gandr: Sukunda is a code cast that will greatly decrease the speed and accuracy of its victim. My attack from behind is what activated it."

"Speed and accuracy…?" Akechi let out in bewilderment. "Hmm?" Why does his body feel like carrying something heavy? And his vision, why is it somewhat vivid?! Is this what he means by-?

"You've been holding back since the beginning, haven't you?" Ren said with a little hint of disappointment in his voice. "I noticed that you didn't use your left hand. That is your dominant hand, correct? I'm guessing you're only using it for the coup de grace." He then pointed his finger on the only hand that is covered with gloves.

Akechi scoffed before answering. "You noticed?" He replied and was somewhat amused by it. "Well there is no need to shred blood in this duel. I refuse to use it because we are told that killing isn't allowed." The Matou heir answers while trying to figure out a spell to dispel the curse.

"Well I'll be already dead if it isn't." Ren admitted with a chuckle. "From the beginning of this match. You have all the chances to do it. You even had the advantage to win this duel easily. And yet you didn't, I doubt that is because you're giving me a chance."

"You've hated me since our first meeting. That's when I realize, you're just toying me. Am I wrong, Akechi?"

Akechi could only smile at him. "I still do not know the source of my hatred for you. But whenever I see you, this feeling of anger just takes over me. Do you have any idea as to why?" He asked.

"I am wondering about it myself."

"Maybe one day I'll know the reason. For now, I have many important things to deal with. And whether or not you'll be one of them will be known today. Let's see if you're going to be a thorn or a blockade toward destiny?" He said.

"I will be more than that." Ren answered before charging in.

"Prove it!" Akechi replied.

Since Akechi is still under the Sukunda curse, he's no match against Ren speed. He's pretty much defenseless at the moment. Ren swiftly goes behind and locks his arms onto Akechi's stomach. "Glady!" He shouted before lifting him in a german suplex style.

Without any intention of letting go. Ren put Akechi into a loop of suplex. The crowd couldn't believe what they were seeing, even BB is on the same page. Ren is suplexing his opponent to victory.

Luvia stood up from her seat with a look of proudness painted all over her face. "That form! That grip! That throw! He's learning! I've influenced him!" She shouted with tears of joy and bumped her fist in happiness. Waver, Ayaka, and Kariya could only look at her in confusion.

After the last seventh suplex. Ren threw Akechi away from him. He then immediately sprinted toward him with a running knee to the stomach. The force and impact then perfectly positioned Akechi's body for a follow up. Ren then took a step back before going into a roundhouse kick followed by a spinning side kick that launched his opponent.

The sight of Akechi laying on the ground once again turned the energy up on the crowd as they roared in a deafening cheer. BB quickly ran to where Akechi was lying and began the count. She was even joined by everyone as they counted together with her.

"One!" They all shouted

"Did he win?" Queen Sheba asks.

"Not yet. BB is still counting." Archer replied before letting out a sigh. It seems he worried over nothing. They were about to intercept the event only to be stopped by Ruler and Lancer on the win and informed them about the duel. It's not the kill-to-win kind of match he suspected at first. Only a skirmish fight of two Spiritron-hackers.

They also learned about the ranking system that was implemented in the academy. The kid from yesterday is fighting for his promotion to rank up. The more he knows about this academy that BB is running, the more he worries about how messy the coming Holy Grail War is.

Then again the Holy Grail War shouldn't happen to begin with. Once Kiara has been dealt with. They will find a way to stop-

"Rin? You seem awfully quiet over there." He called the girl out after noticing her stillness.

"Huh?" The girl in question startled in response. Seeing everyone's attention is on her. Rin crossed her arms, averted her gaze from them, and slowly recovered her usual composure. "I'm just impressed by the duel we witnessed. And disheartening at the same time."

"What do you mean by disheartening, Rin?" came from Merlin.

"These Spiritron-Hackers...They are so different from us." She replied in dejection. "From me, from Rani, from Hakuno, and even Leo Harway. Watching their duel is like an eye opener. A revelation toward the huge gap between the past and present. That this future master can not only support their servants but also fight alongside them. A thing that we, the past combatants, weren't able to do."

"I'd pretty much bark at Lancer to obey my commands. And the code cast I have right now. They seem like nothing compared to what these students could do. Guess our time has left us."

There was a moment of silence after that. No one knows what to say to the girl. Merlin and Queen Sheba haven't known her for long. Same goes for both Ruler and Lancer. Except for the Iron wrought Hero.

"I heard from Hakuno that she owes you so much. That she won't be able to win the Grail War without your help." He said while showing a soft smile that rarely appeared on his stoic face. "She pretty much showers you with praise whenever your name is brought up on a topic."

"Even if she's the sovereign of SERAPH. She looks highly of you, Rin Tohsaka." Archer then chuckled knowing that he also thought the same of her. "Also, I don't think that you're someone that will admit she loses that easily. There might be a gap between you and these masters. But someone of your talent, it's only a matter of time before you close that in." He said.

She may not be the girl he knew from the past. But he's confident that someone with that face and name won't give up without doing her best.

Hearing her soft giggle. Archer's composure breaks a little. "What's so funny?" He asks.

"You're just talking like you've known me for so long." Rin replied while holding herself from laughing more. "But yeah, I am talented and all. These kids won't see me coming." She said in a condescending manner.

Glancing to her left arm. Perhaps it's time to look back into her family work. To fully embrace what her family clan wants their heir to be. To become a magus that will be known around the world. A magus worthy of the Tohsaka family crest.

BB couldn't believe what is happening at the moment. Did he really beat her top student?! How is that possible? She hasn't even seen any of Akechi's wonderful code casts. "Seven!" She shouted while hoping for any response from the young man. This is going to be an upset defeat for everyone rooting for him.

'Come on Akechi. Stand up!' She mentally screaming.

"Eight!"

'Though I'm not being biased. But you cannot lose here!'

"Nine!" She yelled and the nervousness started to take over. "Te-!" BB then stops after hearing him laughing on the ground. "He's up!" She announced while waving her hands. The Headmaster then walks closer to Akechi and checks if he is okay and capable of continuing the match.

"I'm completely fine. I can go on." Akechi replied with a convincing smile. "In all honesty, I am really pumped to fight him now." He said before adjusting the glove on his left hand. After that he walked past her and approached his opponent in the center of the arena.

"You really got me there. I'm surprised that you were able to put me on the ground." He said and gave him a quick clap. "Wonderful...Now I don't feel any regret for not finishing this battle from the start." With a snap of his finger. One of the containers he brought on the fight landed on his side.

"I'm pretty sure that you still have tricks in you." Akechi then looked straight into his eyes with a burning desire to fight. "It's only fair to show one of my Mystic codes as well, right?" He said and chuckled.

"Let's see if you can keep up when I'm not holding back anymore." His left hand then glow brightly and the lock of the container opened, releasing the stream of smoke that stored inside. "Witness one of the Matou family's sacred artifacts."

"Ancient creature born from the king of flies." When the smoke faded, a loud monstrous roar came to its wake. "Beast that terrorizes both heaven and hell." A towering shadowy figure emerges from the container. "Monster that strikes fear into the heart of mankind."

"Awaken Beast of Carnage. Defeat anyone that stands on my way!"

The figure reveals itself to the world. Possessing a monstrous body similar to a fly. It has sharp teeth, serrated talons, bladed tails, insect wings, and legs. Staring into its eyes is like looking through a thousand mirrors. The monster is standing behind Akechi back as if a ravenous guard dog waiting for its order.

And with another snap of his finger. The being slammed its legs to the ground and materialized two summoning circles on both its sides. Then four similar figures emerge from the ground. They have the exact face of the first one but have a number of differences on their shape and bodies.

"Um, Akechi? Isn't that thing too dangerous?" BB questioned the young man. She didn't expect for something this grotesque to be one of Akechi's family mystic codes. Then again his grandfather looked like one.

"Do not worry Headmaster. The Beast of Carnage won't kill unless I say so." He said in a casual tone. Seeing the disbelief on Ren's face. Akechi couldn't help but to smirk. "Now then, Ren. Let's start fighting for real."

Taking both his knife and gun out of their holster. Ren prepared himself for the continuation of their duel. "Come." This time he's the one who's challenging Akechi to make the first move.

"Punish him, Beast of Carnages!"

A/N: Here's the monthly update! Geez summer is rough this year, the heat is just getting in the way of my writing =.=. Regardless, still manage to finish it~ (Wanted to make it just one part but the weather *sigh*) So one more chapter before the Holy Grail War starts! Still deciding who's going to be with who (Servants I mean). Though if you guys have a request or idea about that then leave it on the review~ I'll be sure to read and think over it!

So I'll be putting a master/servants profile, stats, and skills at the end of chapters that include a fight between Master and Servants. Just a note that I wanted to share since I'll be using this set of information during some battles and stuff (although some are irrelevant and gimmicky but whatever). Hopefully you guys do not mind! Welp, first come our protagonist! Ren Amamiya!

Note: This will get updated.

[Magecraft Profile]

Magecraft: Gandr, Illusion, Curse, Showoff

Code Cast -

Afterimage (10 MP - Per Illusion) : Create afterimage of the user. It can follow anything that the caster has thought of. Even possible to do inhuman feats. On a higher level it can project any magecraft. However, due to being nothing but an illusion, it cannot do anything to hurt anything or anyone.

Metaverse (150 MP) : The first set of the spell is deploying a cognitive reality around the user. It allows Ren to be in his rebellious form, as the leader of the Phantom Thieves, also known as Joker. Being in this form increases all his parameter value points by 25. This also unlocked his ability to summon personas that will follow his command and fight on his side.
