chapter 6, schemes and pranks,
While the ghouls continued to to run errands in town, things were starting to get interesting back at revolta's castle. for she was in the middle of flexing the magic in her newly forged wand, training and practicing with it, building up as much magic in it as she can,
Revola stood there in the centre of the chamber, many objects were sprawled across the stone floor, from old wooden chairs to creates, revolt gazed around the room before taking a deep breath. she then lifted her arms and spread them out, while holding on to her wand in one of them, she took in another deep breath as the want began to glow with a slight reddish aura.
she grinned devilishly as she then pointed it at one of the wooden chairs on the ground...
The chair then began to slightly start shaking a little on the ground, revolta narrowed her red eyes and stared at it harder, it then started to shake and rattle more noticeably, it did this for a moment before she focused some, to which the chair began to slowly lift off the stone floor and a few feet into the air. Revolta grinned as she then life her arms and took another breath and and soon more junk scattered around the room began to levitate off the ground, all covered with the same red aura as her wand.
Revolta could feel sweat forming on her as she held up all the object around her with the magic of her wand. she grinned as she then caused one of the object to fly into another smashing it into little wooden pieces,, she then did the same with the chair but flung it into the wall, causing it to break on impact, it's wooden shared fell to the floor,,
Revolta then breath heavily as she stared at the mess, she then wiped some of the sweat off her face and and once again pointed her wand at and old piece of armor on the wall, she let the wand build up with more magic as she then let it get released with a large red beam that blasted the armor, reducing it to nothing but a pile of smoldering ashes,
revolta stared down at the ash pile and smiled with delight, " oh yes..this is just perfect.." she said rubbing her wand, " you are practically going to bring me back to my old revolting ways, yes you are ? " she said in ghoulish baby talk,
she the rubbed her chin " now that I have my magic returning, I can finally get my plan underway, all I need to do is check on creeper to see if he was found out any more useful info,"
she then made her way out of the chamber and down the darken halls, as rats parted way as she did, and in no time she made it into the the room were Creeper was watching the Cauldron,
" ah creeper I have grand news, you se-" she the cut herself off to see that he was asleep next to the cauldron with his tentacles serving as a makeshift pillow. she glared at him at a moment while mumbling to herself, she the used her wand to shoot a bolt or red lighting at him, jolting him awake as he jumped high into the air shouting in shock and pain, he then came crashing down on the ground with a hard thud,
" Get up you big oaf I leave you with one task and I find you napping on the job, ! " she said angrily.
creeper rubbed his behind as he looked over at her, " oh revolta..I was just...resting my eye..I swear I heard everything that was happening, hehehe ! "he looked up at her with a stutter in his voice
revolta just crossed her arms and didn't look amused,
" oh.." creeper groaned " I'm sorry.. just got a little tired and...well you know. "
" do you think this is something to take lightly creeper ? " this plan can not unfold until we get the info of were that book is held, " revolta said, " once that is done we can finally put everything together,."
creeper though didn't look that motivated by her words " oh but revolta...sitting here and watching them is sooooo boring,,,,they never talk about anything interesting, or useful, I feel like I'm going to go mad, " he said rubbing his tentacles on his head,
revolta then walked up to him with a look of mock pity " oh my poor creeper...does he not like sitting around doing nothing, does he not want for his masters plan to be completed, does he not wasn't to continue doing this and let all we ever worked for be tossed aside and go to waste ! " she then shouted at him
" No no no, revolta, not at all, !" he panicked "
revolta then crossed her arms again and looked a little more eased, " I see, well..I came to let you know that I have restored enough magic in this wand to complete the plan," she said waving it around, " if you hold on just a bit longer we may find out something, "
creeper then spoke up again. " but how much longer...we are simply waiting around dong nothing, just hoping for them to spill the beans on the whereabouts of that book, who knows how long that can actually take," he then walked over to the chemistry table and began to fiddle with some of the equipment
" I mean I think were playing this a little too...how should I say it...desperate ? "
revolta then rolled her eyes before quickly zapping him again with her wand.
" ow ! hey ! " he said this time more annoyed, " you know As much as I think you are truly a master of evil , you certainly still have some real anger problems," he mutter under his breath,
she then glared at him looking like she was about ready to strike him again with a another blast of magic..." I'm sorry what was the little remark creeper ? "
" Uh nothing revolta, nothing at all " he said knowing he should have never let that slip,
she just glared and ferociously shot another blast of magic at him, he though dodged it this time as it scorched the wall behind him,
" anger problems do I ! " she yelled, " you haven't seen my anger yet, when ever I have to put up with your yapping and lazy attitude, always putting my plans at risk of failure, " she raged some more and attempted to blast creeper again
" now, now calm yourself revolta..things are just getting a little tense that's all, No need to get frantic ! " he said cowering in a corner
Revolta ignored his pleads as she slowly stepped closer with a look of her rage building up, though suddenly as out of nowhere , she then stopped for a moment,..as she stared at the still cowering creeper...she then lowered her arm and looked more concerned..creeper peeked out as she stood their looking as though she was in a deep realization of thought,,
" Uh...revolta ? " he said in a shaky voice.
revolta however ignored him as she placed a hand on her head,.." of course..I remember " she said quietly
" uh what was that ? " creeper asked again
" I..I remember...I remember were it is ! " she said louder. " oh I do ! I know were it may be, I do ! " he said almost sounding Giddy
creeper looked more confused then he ever has before..but just glad he wasn't the focus of her rage..." uh...m-mind telling me what that is you remember ? "
she the stopped and looked at him, she then pointed her wand at him causing him to flinch again, but instead of zapping him as he expected she levitated him off the ground and brought him closer. " The book you fool...the book..I know where it is..I know where Grimwood has it stores it ! " she told him. " oh How could I forget such a thing, " she laughed delightfully as she tossed creeper aside and crashing into a bookshelf.
Creeper stayed their upside down and dizzily rubbed his head..." oh well that is rather fortunate news...uh how did you come to that,
" I'll explain soon, I need to call psych back, now that I have recalled where it'd sure to be location I can put the plan in motion, " she clapped her hands together and laughed wickedly, she then spoke into her wand,
" Psych, this is revolta, return to the castle, I think we finally have all we need to set up our plan." she chuckled evilly, " soon that book shall be mine,"
...
with the day going on, the ghoul girls had soon completed their shopping and had made their way out of the shop and had met up with winnie and wilbie who were just getting back from the Deli, and one they were all together again, they began to talk if they should make their way back,
" well then, How was your guy's time " phantasma said in her usual cheerful voice,
" Ah it was grand, got the deli meat right here, " winnie said holding the steaks,
" well glad to see they made it back in one piece " sibella said approaching her " and to make sure it stays that way, " she then plucked the package from her, too which winnie let out a slight groan.
" and as for you, how are you finding the town ? " she asked wilbie,
" I'm quite enjoying it so far,.." he said as they walked along. " though have you guys ever...met mr doggger ? " he asked, still wondering what the deal with his weird attitude was about,
" oh yeah, Him..yeah we met him before, he's certainly and interesting human, but seems to be one of the few people here who is rather accepting of ghouls, " she responded,
" Yeah, he seems to know a lot of things,...even sometime before they happen, " Elsa said scratching her head,
wilbie looked perplexed. " huh, well isn't that interesting, what do you mean by that ? " he asked
" well...he just seems to..be able to predict somethings at times, " elsa explained,
" and Miss grimwood claims to know him, though I never see them interact befere, sibella added,
wilbie was about to say something, ,But before anything else could be said on that. they all happen notice a lot of people were starting to make their way down the street and towards the town square, which of course got their interest,
" say I wonder where everyone is going ? " tanis asked
" Not sure, must be important " winnie said,
" um like,they are heading to the town square of course, for the unveiling, is that really that hard to tell ? "
they flinched when all heard that familiar voice speak , so they all turned over fearing who they would see, and unfortunately they did see, it was Amber and Amanda, they were standing their with their bratty expressions, Amanda was seen sipping down anther milkshake,
" town square ? unveiling ? what is that for ? "elsa asked,
" Like for the new park of course on the town square,, it's been under reconstruction for almost six months, the mayor is going to be their and is going to cut the ribbon soon, were on our way their now, sense our dad is helping him out." Amber said looking at her nails,
sibella rubbed her chin, " oh yes, How could i have forgotten about that ? the new parks opening is was today. completely slipped my mind "
" oh, and you say the mayor will be their ? " wilbie asked
" yeah, we've never met him before ourselves. but I think it'd be neat to," Elsa said,
" well perhaps we should stop by and check it out " sibella suggested to the others.
but before the other could respond, both the sisters started bursting out in laughter,
" your kidding right, the last thing we need are a bunch of ghouls attending the event, " Amanda said while sucking on her milkshake.
" yeah, when will you learn that it's rude enough being in this town when not wanted, " Amber added,
" I mean attending this event would be an insult to us all, after all, this is a human town..your lucky your allowed to even get your shopping done in it, "
all the ghouls glared at the girls while crossing their arms, wilbie looked just at unamused as them, but then looked a bit surprised when they turned their attention to him,
" heck, your friend here is more welcomed to attend it then you are, sense he's human, sure he's weird..but so are a lot of people in this town,"
" now you listen, we have just as right to be here as you do, you know that, " winnie growled,
" right, listen we just see things as they are, ghouls and humans don't mix well,..so brush up on some history, its been like that for eons, " Amber said folding her arms.
" you girls are the one's who are wrong, we've known things have changed long sense those times, ghouls and humans are not as treating to one another as you may think," sibella said defensively.
" what ever. if you think it's in anyone's right mind to want to be friends with a ghoul, you are as dense as you look,and Horror boy doesn't count, " she said motioning to wilbie, who just glared at them,
" I think you better leave now. " Elsa said walking over to them with her arms folded and staring sternly down at them while casting a shadow on to them as well,
" uhhh." Amber said suddenly sounding a little shaky, " we were just about leave anyhow, Later,"
the girls then started laughing to themselves as they soon headed off to the ribbon ceremony.
winnie then growled, " ooh I can't stand those girls ! " she said fuming.
" oh let it go winnie, best not let their snobbish attitudes get the better of you , we can still attend the ceremony of course," sibella said reassuring her,
winnie then growled to herself.." but every time we show up here, they make it their main goal to to make fun of us,, "
sibella looked down, not sure what to say " well...we'll just have to ignore them,"
" but do they have to be so mean? I mean we never done anything to them, why do they always say everyone doesn't like us ?" tanis said a little heavily.
sibellia placed a hand on her shoulder, " it's okay tanis,...they just want to find a way to mess with you, they are a lot of talk that's all,
" well you know what, I'm tired of them always picking on us..saying such awful things, they need to be taken down a notch, " winnie said still looking bitter,
" winnie you know their's nothing we can do about that " sibella said,
suddenly phantasma popped up " you know...I think she may be on to something, what if we messed with them just a little."
sibella then looked surprised by this,." phanty you can't actually be suggesting we do something bad to them ? "
she then let out a giggle " oh no of course not sibella, I mean just a little funny prank to mess with them, nothing harmful at all,"
" well I'd be game for it.." winnie chimed in, " they said they are going to the park unveiling, I say we go give them a scare,after all they get spooked by us all the time, they just won't admit it . "
sibella looked at the others the rubbed her head, " I don't know...seems like it's not the right thing to do, Miss grimwood wouldn't approve of it if she were here.
tanis then looked down being reminded of her own problem she and winnie had done, but then spoke up " I agree..it just wouldn't be right, "
winnie then got a mischievous look on her face, " Hey sibella didn't they say your taste in romance novels was complete rubbish though ? "
sibella rolled her eyes " yes " she muttered,
" and Elsa didn't they say your dress looked like a sack cloth made by a color blind talentness whelp? ",
Elsa then crossed her arms, " so what if they did..no biggie," she said looking a little annoyed,
" oh and Then they said it looked more like something you'd create sibella..mocking you and saying bats can't sew "
sibella now looked more enraged she then calmed herself,..." alright...fine, just one little joke on the girls, but nothing extreme,"
" yeah...lets give them a fright, like jump out and scare em ? " that ought to be easy,
wilbie listened on to the ghouls, he had to admit, things were certainly getting more interesting now.
in the town square,...
The town square was a large and sat at the opposite end of the main street, it head man buildings and shops as well surrounding it, the town Hall being one of them, where the mayor of shadehaven resided at the moment,, Mayor Harold miggens ,he was called, and was the kind of mayor people would say you'd want running your town, not for the any reason like he'd have back bone or was the most sharp thinker, but for the pure face it seemed he is just riddled with pure luck, as a lot of times, things seem to turn out good in the end for him and his town in the end...even if he himself did not know that that.
well as said before today was the day the small park in the town square was being opened to the public again, after bein completely under reconstruction for the past five and a half months, and the mayor was soon going to cut that ribbon for it's opening again, as with that a crowed of people were gathered in front of a stage that was awaiting for the ribbon cutting to take place, the ghoul girls and wilbie soon joined in on the crowed as the mayor was about to give a speech, they all stood near the back and not in front of any of the people, not wanting to draw to much attention to themselves,
" well this should be interesting, I hope the new park is going to look much better after being nothing mounds of dirt and construction " phantasma said giggling,
" I hope they grew lot's of pretty flowers their " tanis added,
" alright...we'll do something simple, like maybe get the jump on them " sibella said,
" oh I can do that " winnie said, " I can leap out and let out a howl, after all they spook easy "
" or I could detach an arm and creep up on them with it, " elsa said holding one of her limbs out,
" Whoa you can do that ? " wilbie said impressed, "
" you don't know the half of it " she said with a smirk
" that's awesome, ! " he exclaimed " not only strong, but can lose a limb and not be bothered " he said with a look of awe
phantasma then snapped her hands and spoke up, " oh I got it, I can go and sneak up on them while I turn invisible and spook them, they'll jump out if their skin I bet "
" I don't think that's a good idea, you haven't learn to control that invisibility technique yet, " elsa said
" but I can control it for up to six minute now," Miss grimwood has been helping practice my ghostly abilities," she said proudly
the ghouls continued to conversate while ignoring some strange looks by those who were standing around them,, though some people started muttering to one another, while looking at the ghouls,
wilbie glanced around, and picked up on the strange behavior, but decided to ignore it,
" No that's actually a good idea, we don't want to make a big scene, we'll just need a simple and funny way to mess with the girls, phantasma will only need to be invisible for a short moment, you can go and look for the girls in this crowed, while being so, " elsa finally said,
all the others looked at one another...but no one looked as though they could disagree, so to that, phantasma saw that as an okay for her to do so,
" Great then, I'll be back in just a moment, " she said before suddenly vanishing before their eyes,
wilbie then looked impressed that this as well," wow, what other sort of amazing things can you girls do ? " he asked.
all others blushed a little by his amazement in them again,
as the ghouls explained more about themselves to wilbie, phantasma was making her way through the crowed's of people, with not one being able to see her,
while that was going on, the Mayor who was getting ready for the event to start stood their behind the stage curtain that was set up for the unveiling of the new refurbished park, getting ready to go out front and say his speech,, he wore a fancy suit, and dress pants, had a yellow tie on his chest and sported a classy top on his head, one that covered most of his graying hair,. and he looked to be in a rather cheery mood, though the same couldn't be said for his assistant. Richard Langley, who was a bit more serous with things involving keeping the town in line, he was a well groomed man, and could always seen with a rather up tight attitude, and always wanting things to get done the right way, though despite that, he can be seen having a bit of a over paranoid personality at times, specially with the mayors choices he tends to make on running this town,
" Well I suppose I should start the speech with a good old sporting joke eh , get them in and even greater mood before finally getting into it " the mayor said playfully punching Richard in the shoulder
" eh heh, yeah sure, Mr. Miggens, " he said not looking as amused, " lets just get on with it though, best not to keep the crowd waiting, "
" no worries, we'll be done here in no time, and that way you can get home to the Mrs and that to die for roast of hers you always talk about " he chuckled a bit,
Richard simply rolled his eyes, but then nodded, " very well then, shall you get started sir ? "
the then mayor took a drink from a glass od water and cleared his throat " of course, let's get this ceremony on the move," he was about to make his way through the stage curtain when suddenly they both heard someone yell,
" Daddy ! "
the mayor stopped dead in his tracks and froze up, while Richard sighed and turned around too see Amber and Amanda both come in up to him looking unpleased.
" Dad ! " they both whined.
Richard sighed again, " sweethearts what is it ? can't you see daddies a little busy, helping the mayor. do you need more money for shopping ? "
Amber shook her head. " No dad, it's something urgent. their are ghouls here in town, " she said crossing her arms,
suddenly his annoyed expression turned to shock and a slight look of concern, but soon he put went back to his more serous look, ,
" ghouls ? were did you see them ? " he asked,
" we last seen them shopping in town, then we ran into them, they have this weird boy following them around," Amanda said,
he then looked over at the mayor who looked a bit...unsettled by the presence of the girls
" *ahem* um Richard, any reason your daughters are here, is their trouble ? if not we should really get on with this ceremony." the mayor said, still looking a little uncomfortable by them,
"Oh nothing mr. mayor,..just..the girls seen some ghouls," he said sound a little disgusted by that,
the may then stroked his chin. " oh..ghouls are on town today, interesting,, I wonder how that is going, "
" I don't know sir, i know you don't have any problem with them, but some people...tend to feel iffy about them being around in town, if you know what I mean "
the Mayor though waved his hand as if to brush him off, " oh I feel their isn't much to worry about, the ghouls haven't caused any trouble for us, so I see no reason to fret about it . Now let's get on with the ribbon cutting shall we ? "
Richard waited a moment but nodded " listen sweeties, I'm sure their is nothing to worry about now, just come up on stage with me as we unveil the new park, that should calm you both down,
" but dad... " Amber whined again
" No but's alright, this is an important event, so no getting worked up, alright. " he said sternly
the girls both nodded in agreement but still looked unsure and pouty.
their father then motioned for them to follow him, if another thing could be said about mr. Langley, was that much like his daughter's, he himself was not very find of ghouls, and a lot of his daughters behavior could be a result of his disliking of them, though he tends to restrain himself far better, mainly for keeping a professional appearence for his Job,
So as they made their way to the front of the stage, the crowed began to applaud as the mayor stepped up and made his way over to the microphone stand and cleared his throat to begin speaking,
" greetings, my wonderful citizens of shadehaven, before I begin this cutting of the ribbon, let me put you all in the chipper mood, " he said while pulling out a reading cared, " alright, here's one, What is at the end of, everything ? " he said allowed, he the stared at the crowed who remained quiet. he waited a moment before answering.
" the letter G ! " he shouted, " haha, the letter G that's a good one eh, sense..G is..the at the end of the word...and.." his voice begain to trail off,, " he then notice the crowed was staying silent, *ahem he cleared his throat again, " well then moving on, I just want to say that is has been a long five and a half months, all of us waiting for the the town square park to be rebuilt. but I will say, we've put a lot of time and effort into this and I will soon be cutting the ribbon, thus allowing people to walk along it's fine paths once again. "
as the mayor gave his speech, the ghoul girls were busy looking around for phantasma, who they suspected would of been back by now,
" oh were could she have gone off to ? it's not like her to just take off " sibella said
" maybe she hasn't found them yet ? " Elsa added.
" uh..well I know were the Langley sisters are " Tanis said,
" huh " they all said as tanis pointed on the stage,
they all looked up to to see the sister standing off to the side on the stage next to their father as the mayor gave his speech,
" great, but were is phantasma " winnie said tilting her head and rubbing her chin,
up on stage though unknown to them phantasma head phase through the bottom of the stage and by the two sisters, she looked up at them as they both were doing their own thing, Amanda was busy slurping on her milkshake, while Amber had her arms folded and seemed to be in a deep state of thought, she snickered to herself as she levitated up all the way and in front if them. she then took this opportunity to pull a few funny faces in front of them without the knowing,
she then went around behind them grinned, looking at both, she tapped her chin wondering what to do to them, she then an idea popped into her head as she rubbed her hands together, she went behind, Amber and grinned mischievously at her, she raised and stared wickedly at her, then just as it looked as though she was about to strike, she lightly tapped her on the should and then cover her mouth while snickering,
this got Amber attention as she looked over her should..but course saw no one behind her, she raised and eyebrow. and shrugged it off. but then, phantasma repeated the same process again, this time causing Amber to look annoyed as she stared over at Amanda was was still drinking her milkshake not paying attention to anything around her,
" I will kindly ask you to refrain from poking me," Amber said sternly,
amanda looked ad her, and raised an eyebrow. " I like, didn't poke you, " she said without even looking at her,
Amber rolled her eyes, " oh don't be dumb please. I don't want to play these game's with you ."
Amanda turned and looked at her, " I didn't poke you, get that fact in your head. "
Amber then put her hands on her hips, " oh so you think it's funny to mess with me and thinking I not going to call you out on it, ? "
phantasma floated backwards trying to contain her giggling as she saw the too sisters bicker, that was well worth it, she snickered some more, she was about to make her way back over to her friends, when suddenly the sisters started bickering a bit more louder,
" you always act like such as pest. why do you have to be such a pest ! " Amber said looking extremely angered.
Amanda chuckled a bit, she then set down her milk shake, " you want to accuse me of things, fine I guess i'll just do what it is your accusing me of, " she then walked up to Amber looking her dead in the eyes, then raised her finger,
" don't even think-" but before she could finish..Amanda poked her straight between her nose,
" Poke " Amanda bluntly said fallowed by a smirk
Amber's eye then twitched she then glared at her looking like a enraged jaguar, and before She know it, she then lunged at her and immediately a brawl between the two sisters broke out.
this was not what Phantasma was expecting as she looked a bit surprised and unsure by this, this also caught the attention of many of the people in the crowd, and even those on the stage,
the ghouls who are watching this, were wondering, what was going on,
" look the sisters are fighting on stage," winnie said pointing a claw,
" I wonder what caused that ? " Elsa asked,
back up on stage,the mayor stopped his speech when he saw the two sisters brawling out, he then place his hand on the microphone and spoke,
" Um, mr. Langley please..control your daughters, " he said,
Richard wasted no time and walked over to his daughters, " girls, please. you can take all the time to fight each other at home, but please not here, "
he then reached in and managed to grab each girl and pull them apart, which they were still glaring at each and even growling,
" please girls, what has gotten into you...now, " he said sternly.
" Amanda was trying to bug me and wouldn't admit to it," sh said stating deathly at her
" hmm, and she's making claims that are as false as her jewelry " she said crossing her arm.
Amber's eyes then widened " I, No !...that is not true, "
" okay look I don't care who started what or who wears fake earrings or what ever, just this is not the time to be at each others throats"
Phantasma felt nervous now and began to slowly back up, this had not been her intent, and she could only imagine what the others were going to say, just then without her knowing, she suddenly began to reappear again, this caught the attention of some of the people on the stage, she then completely re-appeared on stage in front of everyone, and they all took notice, a lot of gasps could be heard as the crowed witnessed her.,
the other ghouls looked just as shocked as the others,
" oh...dear " sibella said placing her hand on her mouth,
" you ! " Amber said glaring at her, .
phantasma looked confused, but then looked down and realized she was now visible again, she awkwardly looked around and notice all eyes were on her now from the crowd of people, even the mayor's
" uh...Hi ? "she said sheepishly, to the crowed of people,
the crowed how ever didn't respond, instead just, look shocked or to unsure for words,
the other ghouls and wilbie weren't sure how to respond, they weren't sure how this looked to other people. but from the looks of everyone, even if they knew ghouls came into town, they were not expecting to to see one appear out of thin air on stage at this moment,
Tanis who stood along side the others, rubbed her shoulder and finally spoke out,.." I don't think this is going to go well, " she said in a rather worried tone,
