It had been two years.

Two years for Amane and Nene to let Tsukasa babysit Hikari again.

Hikari was now three years old and could talk. Not a whole lot but she was quite smart for her age. It was no surprise that Hikari ended up being a space fanatic like her dad.

"Uncle Tsu! Uncle Tsu!"

"Hikari-chan!" He picked the girl up and twirled her around. "How's my favorite niece?"

"She's your only niece," Nene said with a giggle.

Tsukasa stuck his tongue at her playfully. "Whatever."

Amane rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I feel like we're making a mistake." He eyed Nene.

She shrugged with a sweatdrop. "I think he deserves a second chance."

Tsukasa looked at them while still holding Hikari who had no idea what they were talking about. "I promise I won't leave the house."

They both sighed in resignation and proceeded to leave him some money, emergency numbers, and anything he might need.

"Just call us if you need us okay?" Amane said and then grabbed Hikari and kissed her on the cheek. "Be good by little starlight."

"Okay!"

"Don't cause your uncle any trouble okay?" Nene kissed her forehead.

"I won't mommy."

And with that they left, leaving Tsukasa and little Hikari. Even though the incident two years ago caused some paranoia and anger in Amane and Nene they've learned to forgive him for almost getting their daughter killed. Because Tsukasa swears he only turned his back for a few seconds and she was gone. And she somehow crawled towards a construction site. Now normally nobody was going to believe that- until Nene lost Hikari after turning her back for a few seconds and suddenly she was on top of a 7-story building.

It was then they believed Hikari was just very danger prone.

"Let's do something fun uncle Tsu!" Hikari was also very energetic. "Let's play cops and robbers!"

Tsukasa was kind of tired from working all week but he didn't want to disappoint his niece. Suddenly an idea popped into his head. "How about instead of playing I could just tell you the time I went to jail for the first time?"

Her eyes lit up instantly. "Yes!" She cheered.

And so began Tsukasa's tale of the time he went to jail for the first time. It all started when he was 14 and rather naive. More rowdy and prone to getting physical with anyone who dared mess with him and Amane. He was the loud and conflictive type while Amane was the shy shut-in type that preferred to keep things to himself.

They were walking to school, their birthday was coming up soon and both brothers wondered what they'd do that day.

They walked by a store and Amane immediately noticed something.

"Look Tsukasa! It's a telescope, it looks so new and cool!" His eyes were practically shining at the idea of owning such beauty. However, one look at the price tag sent him spiraling into despair. "We can't afford it." He said sadly and walked away from the window.

If Tsukasa were honest that was the most positive emotion he's ever seen Amane emit and it was all because of that telescope.

So naturally, he had an idea.

Now he wasn't a saint or a good kid back then but for Amane he'd do anything if it means he'll smile and be happy. If a telescope made him feel that way then he'll fucking get the telescope.

Oh, wait he shouldn't curse in front of an infant.

Oh well moving on.

The price was a lot, he's not surprised why they cost so much now but back then he was in shock. The audacity to make it so expensive! His brother wanted it! He didn't have the money, unfortunately. His life savings were not enough and asking for money from their parents was a huge no-no due to how… bad they were.

Every year the twins celebrated by themselves. They would manage somehow by saving money and buying a cupcake and a candle to share. They didn't have anyone at the time and relied on each other constantly to the point they couldn't be separated.

Until Nene entered the picture that is but that's another story that also involves him doing mischievous things due to… well no point in mentioning that to Hikari since she won't understand.

Tsukasa had to get the telescope one way or another. Didn't matter how he needed it. So when the local bad boys of the school came up to him to let him know they're interested in recruiting him.

He took the chance.

"Sure but in exchange, I need your help."

They looked at each other and then at him, questioning what exactly he needed help on. "Sure what do you want?"

Tsukasa smirked and proceeded to tell them how he wanted help to steal the telescope at a store that was nearby the school. He wanted them to help distract the owner so he could take the item and run.

"Why do you wanna steal it?"

"It's for my brother."

Fair enough, they looked poor so it made sense.

At the time Tsukasa didn't know why they were so willing to help him out. Little did he know they had plans to screw him over since the very beginning. His proposing they steal made them improvise but they sure managed to think of something quickly.

First things first, group A would distract the owner.

"Hello, sir do you have these in another color?"

"Lemme check in the back."

Group B will help with covering him from being caught on security footage.

"Can't believe we're doing this."

"I know."

And lastly, Tsukasa will sneak in, grab the telescope and run as fast as he can!

So he did just that, he went in and grabbed it off the stand. It was heavy but he managed. But before he could run off with it…

"He's shoplifting!" One of the guys yelled out.

He froze in place and watched as the owner took away his telescope along with his hopes of seeing Amane happy again. And before you start asking anything. He ended up being taken in by the police for the attempt. He was a minor though so they only held him in a holding cell. A holding cell that hosted five other big dudes who looked scary.

"Behave." The cop said to all of them including Tsukasa.

But what would he do? He's just a kid.

"Look at this punk here, what are you in for?"

"Trying to steal a telescope." He answered truthfully.

They laughed at him, they mocked him. What did they expect? That he robbed a bank?

Well, he did do that later down the line but that's another story for another time.

"Trying to steal a telescope? What do you want a telescope for?"

"For my brother, it's our birthday soon."

They laughed even more.

"That's stupid."

"It's not stupid, he wants it."

"What are you five? Why would he want a dumb telescope?"

"It's not dumb he likes to see the stars."

They laughed even louder than before. "He's even dumber than I thought."

Tsukasa frowned. "He's not dumb-"

"This kid into stars? That's the most pathetic shit I've ever heard in my life." More mocking, more laughter.

Tsukasa had enough of course. The details of what he did can not be disclosed to a child of Hikari's age so let's say he… taught them a lesson.

When the police officer came back he saw five dudes cowering in the corner while crying for their mommy and a 14-year-old teen smiling in his seat all innocent looking. He didn't question it and merely let Tsukasa out.

"Yugi you're free to go."

Tsukasa hopped off the chair and left the cell but not before saying goodbye. "See ya guys!" They began to cry even harder.

When he got out he saw Amane with his teacher at the time, Tsuchigomori. He had bailed him out and Tsukasa was forced to apologize to the store owner.

"Why did you do it, Tsu?" Amane questioned him all the way home but he couldn't exactly tell him. The details of the robbery were only given to Tsuchigomori so Amane was in the dark. Until he later told him and he blamed himself.

What he was essentially avoiding.

But anyway Tsuchigomori was a nice guy. Pulled him aside realizing what Tsukasa was doing since he knew he wasn't the one interested in stuff like a telescope.

Tsuchigomori bought it for him.

"And that's the story of how I went to jail, got out, and made your dad happy!" He beamed.

"Yay! Uncle Tsu is cool! Uncle Tsu is cool!" Hikari cheered.

Tsukasa has successfully made a toddler happy without leaving the house.

"Fuck!"

Well shit.

I'm well aware Tsukasa was in holding and not prison but considering how young he was and the fact that Hikari won't know the difference... xD

There's more to come of course! I just need to get my head in the game again, been having difficulty concentrating and setting my priorities
