Power Ranger Mystic Force

Broken Hearts

Chapter Six

Wandering the vast forest, Daggeron's eyes kept moving. He needed to find a place far from everything to perform the spell. Yet no matter where he looked, it was never the right spot. Homes were too close, or it was too close to the outside. So he went deeper into the forest, where the sky was barely visible.

Tired, Daggeron rested against the trunk of a rather large tree. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he laid his hand on the trunk. It surprised him at how rough the bark was. Soon his eyes looked up to the sky and noticed how the tree loomed over the others. With nothing around for miles, which made this the ideal spot to conduct the spell. Walking around the tree, a smile formed across his lips the moment he noticed a pair of familiar charred marks along the base. Shaking his head, Daggeron never thought he would ever return here.

"An old memory?" A familiar voice asked.

Daggeron looked around, sensing a powerful presence. His eyes looked to the tree to see none other than Mystic Mother herself emerge from behind it. Daggeron bowed slightly.

"Yes, Udonna, Leanbow and I would come here to practice magic. Leanbow and I would set the trunk of the tree on fire, leaving Udonna to put it out. Sometimes this would be our secrets get away… soon it will only be mines." Daggeron said.

A sigh escaped Mystic's mother's lips as she walked over and laid a hand on Daggeron's shoulder. He refused to look at her when a few tears trickled down his cheeks. The two remained silent as they looked upon the battle-torn tree together. While she knew her Solaris Knight was strong, this would crush anyone.

"I don't know what to tell you, but fate no always brings sadness to everyone involved. I am sorry for you all, but this must be. I have seen what you both have planned and while it is a good idea, fate will proceed as planned." Mystic Mother finished.

"So you're saying we cannot stop fate… well, at least I want to try," Daggeron said.

Another sigh escaped Mystic's mother's lips, while she could see his golden aura held despair. It also glistens with determination.

"Plans, no matter how perfect they are, always have a downside. But to answer your question, we cannot stop fate, no matter what's put in its way." Mystic Mother replied, followed by a small smile.

Daggeron turned to his left to see Mystic mother had disappeared. A light breeze swirls around him, tickling across his skin.

"Good Luck…" Mystic's mother's voice whispered in the wind.

Daggeron nodded he continued to stare at the tree as his golden aura shined brightly. Mumbling a few words, the area around the tree glistened as the preparation spell steadily took effect. While he couldn't escape fate, he wouldn't mind postponing it for a while.

Meanwhile, at Root Core, all eyes were on Udonna. She owned the rangers and Claire an explanation for all of this. Glancing over to Nick, whose eyes held a fiery gaze, she knew she could no longer keep this from them.

"Daggeron didn't want me to say a word to any of you," Udonna said.

"Typical," Vida replied with a snark attitude.

"Cut it out sis, I bet they had a good reason they kept this from us," Madison said.

Vida merely nodded and remained quiet.

"He thought if you knew, it would conflict with a decision that we already made," Udonna replied.

Now it was Nick's turn. Udonna felt his hand slip out from under hers as he rose to his feet. She could feel his fiery aura glisten brightly as he balled up his fists.

"And not telling us wouldn't! More secret's we are all family, which means there we should be open with each other!" Nick shouted.

Udonna didn't say a word. She merely let her eyes wander to the ground. He was right. They shouldn't have kept this from them. She knew saying sorry wouldn't help this time, it would only make it worst.

Madison rose to her feet. She took a hold of Nick's hand and stared directly into his eyes. The fire mage turned away before walking over to the window. The water mage had once again quelled another fire.

"Perhaps telling us what this is all about would be best," Madison said calmly.

Udonna nodded. Her eyes remained fixed on the floor. She really didn't want to recall that day, but they would truly see how dangerous she could be.

"It all started long ago when three children were playing in the forest, who knew that one simple case of bullying could bring forth such a powerful and dangerous being to the surface,"

Flashback

Laughter filled the air as three children were running throughout the forest, with their teacher yelling at them as he lost sight of them. Jumping over bushes, splashing in puddles and climbing up trees, the three continued to laugh, for the fun seemed never ending. The three of them finally came to a stop by a lake.

While the two boys wrestled by the water's edge, the red hair girl that was with them backed away from the lake, siting comfortable on the grass. Curling her legs up to her chest, the girl's eyes stared out at the lake. The thought of being too close seems to be too much for her to handle.

The boys noticed this and stopped what they were doing. They ended up joining their friend by sitting down on either side of her.

"Still afraid of the water, Udonna?" The spikey black-haired child asked.

"So, what if I am Daggeron!" Udonna snapped back.

Daggeron put his hands up as he scooted back a little, causing Udonna to sighed in regret.

"I'm sorry. I wish I wasn't scared of the water," Udonna said apologetically.

Daggeron looked across to the other boy who scratched his chin. A light breeze trickled across his light brown hair as he stayed in that pose.

"What is it, Leanbow?" Daggeron asked.

"I think I might have a way we can help with that," Leanbow replied.

"Oh?" Udonna inquired.

"By teaching you how to swim, you won't feel as afraid of the water if you see how safe and pleasant it could be," Leanbow said.

"Yeah, that could work," Daggeron said.

Udonna nodded as the boys rose to their feet. The moment she tried to stand, Leanbow shook his head.

"We'll be right back. I need Daggeron's help to get a few things that can help us," Leanbow replied.

"Okay, don't be too long," Udonna said.

The boys merely laughed as they took off running back to the village, leaving Udonna alone by the lake.

A smile formed across Udonna's lips. Perhaps now she could finally overcome her fear and swim alongside everyone during class. Her ears perked up when she heard footsteps. Thinking the guys had already returned. She jumped up and turned around, but her smile quickly disappeared the moment she came face to face with three girls. With their arms crossed and eyes narrowed, Udonna knew this would not turn out well.

Heading back to the lake, Daggeron and Leanbow dragged along some swimming supplies when a blood-curdling scream scorched the sky, followed by a loud splash. The boys dropped everything and ran as fast as they could toward the lake.

"No…." Is all Daggeron could say.

The two watched as three girls laughed, watching Udonna struggle to keep her head above water. She was splashing all around trying to move toward land, but with tears stream down her face there was no way she could make it.

"See your making progress," The head girl said.

"Udonna!" Leanbow yelled.

The girls turned around and took off running. Leanbow ran pass them while Daggeron refused to let them get away. With the mumble of a quick incantation, golden swirls wrapped around the girls' bodies, keeping them in place.

"Come on, it was only a joke," The head girl said.

"Yeah, a very cruel one," Daggeron replied.

Leanbow removed his shirt, and he continued on to the lake.

As her arms grew tired, Udonna's mind in to overdrive. Her head was dipping further and further into the water until it submerged her. Holding her breath for as long as she could, an eerie wave of darkness washed over her as her body remained in the water.

Just as Leanbow reached the water's edge, he was about to jump in when the water glowed. Soon a light engulfs the entire lake. Backing away, an enormous splash erupted once the water was clear there. Hovering over the lake bathed in a pale white aura was Udonna, but something was off. Her eyes were an icy blue and her skin was as pale as snow. The once warm summer breeze now held a cold sensation, causing everyone close by to shiver.

Soon swirls of snow circled around her, causing the once calm waters to turn into an enormous block of ice. Her eyes looked to the girls and narrowed; she kept her eyes on them as snowflakes fell from the sky. Once they touched the ground, they slither like vines toward them. The girls screamed as the snow turned to ice and wrapped itself around the girls' necks.

"Stop this, Udonna!" Leanbow screamed.

Udonna's eyes wandered over to Leanbow, whose fiery aura glowed brightly around him. She also noticed Daggeron's golden, sunny aura glistening brightly. Yet she tilted her head the moment she heard that name.

"Udonna…. Udonna, I am not her," she replied.

"Then who are you?" Daggeron asked.

"I am the snow maiden…. and winter shall consume all."
