Cinders From Fire Will Save The Clan
Summary
What if Fireheart had been on the Thunderpath instead of Cinderpaw, and what if Fireheart had become Yellowfang's apprentice, but somethings are worth breaking the code.
Spottedleaf's Visit
Fireheart returned to the medicine den and helped Yellowfang sort herbs until the sun went down.
"Well, I'm going to sleep" Yellowfang told him with a yawn.
"Me too" Fireheart told her and curled up into his nest thinking about Cinderpelt and listened to the sound of Yellowfang breathing as it began to deepen showing that she was asleep. He listened to her sleep for a few more minutes before he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
When he woke up, he was surprised to find himself in Starclans hunting grounds, even though he habe only been Yellowfangs apprentice for a few moons he had already had dreams from StarClan when he had been a warrior he had, had some. While he was thinking he almost missed Spottedleaf appearing in front of him.
"S-Spottedleaf? What are you doing here?" He stammered in surprise, he was not expecting to see Spottedleaf.
"Hello, Fireheart I am so happy for you" Spottedleaf meowed, smiling softly at him, but Fireheart could teel that the smile didn't reach her eyes.
"I am glad that you have found someone else to love, you'll be happy with Cinderpelt, I know you will" she purred.
"Uh... Thank you" Fireheart mumbled, not knowing what else to say to the first cat he had ever loved.
"So your not angry?" Fireheart asked her, searching her gaze.
"Of course not, we were never meant to be together" Spottedleaf told him, and began to fade.
"Spottedleaf, wait! How can I complete my destiny if I'm going to become a medicine cat?" he yowled.
Spottedleaf stopped and turned back to him with a smile on her face.
"Cinders from fire will save the clan" She meowed, smiling at him before she faded away, and Fireheart was left alone in the foggy clearing of StarClan's hunting grounds.
When Fireheart opened his eyes, it was still dark, but the sun was just beginning to rise in the sky. He stretched out his paws and hw quietly patted outside into the crisp morning air, no one else was awake yet, so he decided to go out for a short walk before Yellowfang woke up.
As he approached the fern tunnel, he heard the silent pawsteps of another cat. He spun around calmly to see dark gray fur.
"Oh, morning Cinderpelt" Fireheart meowed, purring happily as she approached.
"Morning Fireheart, what are you doing up so early?" She asked, staring at him curiously as he looked down at his paws.
"I was just going for a walk, want to tag along?" He asked, and Cinderpelt smiled brightly at him.
"Of course, Fireheart. I wouldn't want you getting hurt. And besides, Yellowfang probably wouldn't mind if we help out and collect some herbs" Cinderpelt meowed, and Fireheart nodded his head in agreement.
"Yes, I know both Bluestar and Yellowfang would be worried about m getting hurt, and so are you" Fireheart remarked, with a teasing grin on his face. Cinderpelt opened her mouth to say something but she shut it a few seconds later, not having anything to say in response.
"I guess, you're right about that. You're to smart for your own good sometimes, you know that don't you, Fireheart?" Cinderpelt replied after a few moments of awkward silence. She blushed and stained down at her paws and Fireheart licked her cheek affectionately
When they returned to camp a few hours later, most of the other cats were either wondering around or preparing to go out on patrol. When they entered camp, Bluestar and Yellowfang were the ones to greet them.
"Well, I see Cinderpelt helped you gather more herbs, so that's why you weren't in your nest when I woke up this morning. Great job, Fireheart. You know where they go" Yellowfang meowed, and Fireheart nodded, and made his way to the medicine den, with Cinderpelt following close behind him.
"Oh my StarClan, that was close. For a second I thought they had figured us out" Cinderpelt meowed, as they organized the herbs and headed out of the medicine den.
"I know right? I honistly thought Bluestar had figured it out. After all, she is really smart" Fireheart meowed, shaking out his fur and giving his paw a swift lock.
"So, what was the real reason you were up so early, Fireheart?" Cinderpelt inquired, tilting her head to the side in curiosity.
"I received a prophecy from Spottedleaf" Fireheart told her, and Cinderpelt's eyes widened in both shock and surprise.
"What did it say?" Cinderpelt asked, tilting her head to the side curiously like a newborn kit does once they see everything for the first time.
"Cinders from fire will save the clan" Fireheart told her, and Cinderpelt tilted her head in confusion.
"But what does it mean?" She asked, still looking confused as she stared at Fireheart.
"You know as well as I do that StarClan is very vague in their messages to us, I'm sorry, Cinderpelt. But even I do not fully understand" Fireheart meowed, as he stared at Cinderpelt.
