Chapter 6
"This stuff is delicious Jess!" I said while tucked in the Ermer stew she made. We all had dinner after the tiring training session. "Aw, no need to thank me." she replied. Avalon seemed to be enjoying his dinner, but he looked a bit… sad. He had actually taken off his mask, and we can all see that he had blonde hair and blue eyes. "Alright I'm beat," I yawned "See y'all in the morning." I made my way to the showers and got a shock when I took off my shirt. Sitting on my chest was what seemed like half of Avalons core. Putting back on my shirt, I ran out and yelled at him "What the hell! Am I a blade now!?" He just looked at me and sarcastically said "Oh no need to thank me, I only saved your life." I was shocked, and he and Jess must've seen my face and they both burst out laughing. Naturally, I was even more pissed, so I shoved Avalon off his chair and he still was laughing. When they both finally stopped, Avalon just said "Don't worry, you're not going to be a blade, half of my core is there because I gave half of my life force to save yours." "Oh I see," I said, confused and embarrassed "Well, I'm off to bed, I presume we will be planning how to get above the Sea of Chaos tomorrow?" "Yes, yes we will" was the reply.
The next morning
Waking up, the sun was already shining through one of the windows and in my face. Gran was still snoring beside me in her pouch. "Hey Gran wake up" nudging her nose. Bad idea. She immediately snapped on my finger when I touched her nose. I yelled and swung my finger around with Gran still on it. I kept dancing in pain until someone broke down my door. It was Avalon and Jess, and they had their weapons drawn. "Get it off me! Get it off me!" I screamed as I was still shaking my finger. And like true friends, they both broke down laughing again. So they both had to pry Gran off of my finger. "Well it wasn't exactly my fault! I have instincts" she said defensively after we all had breakfast. "Back in the day, anything touching you when you slept would try to kill you!". I crossed my arms and frowned "Yeah alright now that it's over, how do we plan on reaching the top of the Sea of Chaos?" "I've decided the best way to reach the islands you saw is by submarine." Avalon said. "Why do we need a submarine? Couldn't we just sail above it?" Jess questioned. "Unless you like being in a ridiculously rough sea and like being zapped by lightning, sure it's a great idea" Avalon snorted. Jess just shrank back into her seat. "So the plan is that we travel to the Viomichania titan to see if we can borrow someone's ship." he explained. "Why exactly do you want to go to those islands?" I questioned. He looked at me and said "Look kid, if you haven't noticed the world is dying, there are lesser titans these days, I haven't even seen one that could grow to be a big titan in centuries, up there on those islands, may lie the key to survival, it's what I tried to do with… Jackson.". His voice dipped when he said his name, and suddenly got up "I have to rethink something." and just went back to his room. "Hey Gran" "Yes?" "Could you tell me the legend of Jackson" "Alright buckle up, it's a long story."
"So we go back 900 hundred years ago, when Avalon over there was experimenting on how to make blades better to protect this world from the dragon he had recently defeated. '' she began. Jess and I leaned forward in our seats, enthralled. "So Avalon knew that the combined force of a driver and blade was vastly more powerful, that's the reason why he used Luke to take on the dragon" "Wait, I've never heard of the dragon's name, why do we call it the dragon?" I interrupted "If it did, you wouldn't want to speak its name"she continued. "Anyway, where was I? Right, drivers and blades, so he began experimenting on what we call "flesh eaters" which are blades that devour humans. Those blades gain the ability to function alone or partner with either a driver or a blade. Then there were blade eaters, a much more difficult process of moving blade crystals into human bodies. So Avalon thought of combining a blade eater AND a flesh eater. It worked and that "super blade" went on to destroy the world as he saw that it was going to die anyway. His name was Silverius.".
