A Bigger Problem.
While the chaos was going on, Carlos was approaching the RPD building with his partner Tyrell. They had no clue what had happened to their comrades, or to the two ladies. All they knew at the moment was to complete their mission.
It's been awhile. Subway's gotta be clear of the city by now" Carlos said.
"Along with your hot date?" Tyrell teased.
"Nah, she's not like that. Hell, she's not like anybody" Carlos said.
Tyrell opens a gate "Alright, keep your head screwed on, Romeo. This is the police station".
"Uh, you sure? 'Cause it looks like a cemetery to me" Carlos said as he saw several graves.
Suddenly they heard a voice "Brad! Stop!".
"T!" Carlos said as Tyrell hurried to try and break down some wodden barricade. As he did, Carlos noticed a cop aiming his weapon at a zombie Brad, one of Jill's colleagues.
"C'mon, man. Not you too" The Cop said before He shoots Brad in the legs before aiming at his head "Sorry…".
The zombie Brad looked up at him "So… rry…".
Stunned by the answer, Marvin lowers his guard for just a second and Brad suddenly tackles him down on the steps and bites him in the stomach. Marvin screams in pain before he pushes Brad of, runs off to the police station and locks the door behind him.
Tyrell comes running to the door "Shit! It's locked!".
"You stay on the door. I got this fucker. Come get some!" Carlos said as he shoots Brad in the head. After searching the body, he finds his ID "He's S.T.A.R.S.? That could be useful".
They enter the police station. As they do, Snake had been following them from a safe distance. He sneaks up to the door, opens it as silently as he can, just enough so he could listen to the two Mercenaries.
"Where'd that cop go?" Carlos asked.
"Don't know, don't care. We got a job to do. If our intel's still worth a damn, then Bard's in the S.T.A.R.S. office. Let's find him and take him into custody" Tyrell said.
Carlos looked surprised "Custody? I thought this was a rescue".
Tyrell was silent for a moment before motioning Carlos to join him in front of a monitor "Carlos, take a look at this. I've located the S.T.A.R.S. office. Remember, Bard had access to Umbrella's darkest secrets. He knows we'll try to keep him under our thumbs".
"So this search and rescue mission is really more like find and detain...Right. Good to know" Carlos said.
"I'll open the shutter so you can get through" Tyrell said.
"You stay here and find out what's been going on here at the station" Carlos instructed.
"Call ya if I find anything. Hey. Be careful" Tyrell said.
"Yeah, you too, man" Carlos said before he began to explore the station.
Snake took a moment to think through what he just heard. So that's their objective, good to know. Whoever they are here to find must be very important... and likely knows more than enough about what Umbrella is planing. Sneaking through the front door would be tricky to do without alerting Tyrell and Snake knew better than to trust people under Umbrella's payroll. Carlos seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, but Snake couldn't take any risks. Tyrell was watching the monitors, he would spot Snake for sure if he tries to sneak around. Only one option.
Snake sneaks inside. Tyrell may be focusing on the monitor, but he was clearly on alert in case something tries to sneak up on him. No room for errors here.
Carlos contacted Tyrell "T, you copy? There's something real nasty in here. I don't know what it is".
"Something nasty? Alright. I'll take a look with the cameras. Watch your six" Tyrell said before he suddenly felt a gun press against his head.
"Don't move" Snake ordered.
Tyrell held up his hands "Easy there. You don't wanna do this".
"Then don't give me a reason to pull the trigger. You will tell me everything you know, and you better not be lying to me. I don't go easy on liars" Snake warned.
"What do you want to know?" Tyrell asked.
"Who is this guy you want to detain?" Snake demanded.
"Dr. Nathaniel Bard. He is a biologist employed by Umbrella. He knows things Umbrella don't want anyone to know" Tyrell answered.
"So you were sent here to silence him?" Snake asked.
"We were only ordered to take him in to custody. What ever happens after that is up to our superiors" Tyrell answered.
"If he knows about Umbrella's secrets, you can be damn sure he won't live much longer if Umbrella gets their hands on him. To bad for them, my mission is to rescue anyone who can help bring them down. And I am allowed to deal with anyone who tries to stop me" Snake declared.
"Mission? Who sent you?" Tyrell asked.
"Classified. Now if you also want to make it out of here, I suggest you take me to Bard" Snake said.
"I would if I could, but the terminal isn't giving us any clues" Tyrell said.
"Fine, then you will just need to help me find him" Snake declared.
"Whatever you say man, just don't shoot me. And let me give Carlos the heads up" Tyrell said as " Carlos, I've hit a dead end with the terminal here. Gonna head your way".
"Copy that" Carlos answered.
"And just so you know. We got a new friend here" Tyrell said as he looks at Snake who was giving him a look of suspicion.
"Wait what?" Carlos asked.
"A real charmer, you gotta meet him" Tyrell said sarcasticly.
"Many do find me charming" Snake said.
"Alright T, hope you're right about this" Carlos said.
"There, can we go now?" Tyrell asked.
"Lead the way" Snake said.
They found Carlos in the main police station offices. One of the computers has an incoming message on its screen. Carlos clicks on it and the video call tuns on.
"Dr. Bard!" He said.
Bard looked relieved "Oh, thank god. Do you know how long I've been trying to reach somebody?".
"Don't worry, we're gonna get you out of there. Just tell me where you are" Carlos said.
"I'm trapped in a goddamn hospital, surrounded by every kind of abomination... Look, just send in S.T.A.R.S. They're gonna know what to do" Bard explained.
"Nah, negative. R.P.D.'s overrun too" Carlos said.
Bard looked annoyed "Then figure it out! Umbrella's gone crazy. They're killing all the researchers. I am the only one who knows how to make the vaccine to stop the zombies... So you can either sit there with your dick in your hand, or send somebody who's capable of getting me the hell out of here!".
"I like him already" Tyrell said.
"Yeah, you would" Carlos said.
"Killing all the researchers huh?" Snake asked, fingers on his gun.
"Relax man, I didn't know about this. But we all heard what he said. We can't turn him over to the company" Carlos said.
"That's not our call to make. That's Mikhail's call" Tyrell said.
"Just so you know, I am taking him out of the city so he can help nail Umbrella to the wall. Non of you have a problem with that right?" Snake asked in a warning tone.
Tyrell looked at him before he sighed, not in the mood to fight him on this "Do what you want. I'm gonna check the computer and see if I can trace the doc's location. This'll take some time. Look around, see if you can find anything useful".
Snake figured he might as well look for something useful while he's here. He found something titled Report on the Mansion Incident.
This bizarre incident occurred in a mansion owned by the Umbrella Corporation located Arklay Mountains.
On July 3, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team was dispatched to the Arklay Mountains to investigate a series of mysterious and grisly murders, and went unexpectedly radio silent.
On July 24, Alpha Team was dispatched as well, and became entangled in the events at the nearby mansion.
The incident culminated in the destruction of the mansion. Casualties were numerous. The only survivors were five members of S.T.A.R.S. of the incident was the illegal bioweapon experiments being carried out in a secret Umbrella lab beneath the mansion. The T-Virus being used in these experiments escaped the facility, and is presumed to be the root cause of all that occurred.
However, all evidence was destroyed along with the mansion, so further investigation has proven to be extremely difficult.
Snake had heard about the Mansion incident. His faction had searched the remains of that place but found nothing useful. Just what other secrets is Umbrella trying to hide?
Carlos suddenly got contacted by someone "Yeah, what's up? Derailed? Was anyone hurt?".
"Jill?" Tyrell asked.
"Ah, shit... Wait what!? Why would he do that? Shit I knew he was an asshole but that... wait, what you mean she is gone? Jill calm down I'm sure she's fine... Look I'll come find you and we can look for her together. Unless she finds you before I get there. Ok, stay safe, I'm on my way. T, I gotta go" Carlos said.
"Not so fast there. What is going on?" Snake demanded.
"Jill Valentine, a member of S.T.A.R.S. is trouble. Look she is not a fan of Umbrella either, and she is a good person. Please, let me save her" Carlos pleaded.
Snake was silent for a moment before he sighed "Fine".
"Do what you gotta. Me and our new friend here can take care of Bard" Tyrell said.
Carlos nods and leaves. Snake now knew for sure Carlos was a good man... so maybe he could at least trust him.
Several minutes earlier in Subway Tunnels, Quiet crawled out of the wreckage. She rubbed her head in pain, wondering what happened. Then she remembered, Nicholai's betrayal, and how the train blew up and was derailed. She looked around and got really worried.
"Jill?.. Jill!? Jill are you there!? JILL!" She shouts as she gets up and looks around. She tried to look for her daughter, but the flames made it impossible to see anything "Damn it! No! JILLL!".
The fire was spreading and Quiet cursed, knowing she would be burned alive if she stayed here. She found a path up and managed to get to street level. She knew Jill was a tough lady, so she had some hope that she survived the crash... but she was still extremely worried. But before she could begin to look, there was an explosion. She looked and saw... A burning Nemesis leap out of the flames, he was flailing around in pain before smashing the wall of a building, he got really lucky since by doing so he damaged the building's water pipes, causing water to wash over him, putting out the fire.
Quiet had a feeling a fight was coming... but what happened next surprised her. Nemesis roars loudly as his muscles suddenly began to bulck, bone spikes tore out of his shoulders and back, claws grew out of his right hand along with a lot of tentacles came out of his arm. Quiet looked shocked as Nemesis stalked towards her until he towered over her, being much bigger than he was before, and let out a loud roar.
Quiet knew about this ability... some of Umbrella's monsters had the ability to mutate after taking enough damage. And after all the damage Nemesis had taken since she first encountered him, he was finally pushed to the point of mutating. Now looking like a bigger, stronger and even more deadly version of his previous form, Nemesis was done with this cat and mouse game. He no longer cared about just killing Jill... he had gone berserk, and wanted to kill everything.
Quiet had to dodge a over head smash from Nemesis' now larger arms. She dodged a swipe from his claws and tried to leap over him... only fora tentacle to wrap around her leg and threw in to the ground. Quiet groans before Nemesis' tentacle wrapped around both her legs and began dragging her towards him. Quiet managed to free herself by sacrificing her shoes. She didn't even react as her now bare feet touched the cold ground, and she focused on Nemesis.
The large monster charged her like the raging beast her was. He was nothing like he was before. Earlier, Nemesis seemed to use some level of military tactics, and was even able to form strategies. But now, he was fighting like a berserker... which made him more dangerous, as it's next to impossible to predict a berserker. Quiet tried stab him with her knife since it was the only weapon she was currently carrying. But Nemesis' new mass made it useless and Quiet leaps back, trying to gain some distance so she could form a plan.
But Nemesis gave her no room to breath and continue to attack her. His tentacles were to many for Quiet to cut in time, and she ended up caught in them. Nemesis then brutally slammed her in to the ground several times before tossing her through the air until she hit a wall hard. She fell to the ground coughing up some blood. She looked up just in time for Nemesis to grab her and threw her across the ground. She struggled to stand only for Nemesis' fist to colide with her face, sending her flying several feet. Then she felt a tentacle wrap around her bare foot before she was tossed in to a nearby car.
She was leaning on it. Feeling like Nemesis was getting revenge for all the humiliations he suffered from her. She felt several bones in her body were either broken or at the very least cracked. Had it not been for her enhanced body, a beating like that would've killed her many times over. Her survival was owed purely to her enhanced body. Nemesis growls and sends his tentacle forward... sticking it in to Quiet's shoulder. When he pulled it out, Quiet could already feel something spreading through her body. She fell to the ground and began to vomit. What did that monster just do to her?! She felt herself growing weaker by the second, her body refusing to move... and she was slowly growing numb... like she couldn't feel anything... which was worrying given she should be in pain.
Nemesis roars in to the sky, before he remembered his objective "STTTTAAAAARRRRRRSSSSSS!".
"No..." Quiet whispered as Nemesis leaps away, climbing the buildings like a gorilla with claws "Jill...".
Suddenly, Nicholai approaches her and had a sinister smile on his face "Interesting... You've done me a big favor, my lady".
Quiet reached towards him in a desperate attempt to kill him for what he did. But he just walks away calmly. Quiet vomits again before she collapsed... last thought on her mind, was Jill... then everything went black.

READ THIS: Well as you've noticed, things are going to change a bit from here on out.
As you noticed I gave Nemesis a different second form. Best way to describe it would be to picture a Remake version of his second form from the original game. I didn't hate the Remake form, but I prefer the original one, just more beast like. I'm sure you can find a fan made image that should describe it.
And what you saw in this chapter is only a few of the bigger changes that are still to come ;)
