Here you go, another chapter :D

The last chapter was very Donnie-centric, but with this one you get a little bit from almost everyones POV :D

This whole chapter is set in the 2012-universe however :)

Please enjoy and leave your thoughts in the comments; it really makes my day when you tell me what you think :3

2012 - universe:

Don was sitting in his makeshift hideout, reluctantly nibbling on some cold pizza he had stolen from the lair's fridge. He wasn't a fan of pizza, or food in general, and ate merely out necessity; if he waited for too long, his more primal side would take over and find the nearest living creature to eat alive, and he would rather not get to that point. It rarely happened, but it was an enormous mess every time it did, and he really didn't have the energy to deal with such a nuisance at the time being.

His hideout was cramped, and located in an old pipe leading to the sewer tunnels. It was also one of the very few places he could hide and still be in close proximity the lair; the tunnel was one of the few blind spots in the security system Donnie had so expertly put together. He should know; after all, he built it back in the day.

He was contemplating whether to just go in there and force Mikey to find the device for him, as he had spent the last 24 hours looking everywhere imaginable for the communicator. Of course, ideally, he would never be spotted, but he had a feeling he was running out of time and his patience was already worn dangerously thin. Which would be another way to end up killing someone in a fit of rage.

He decided against it however, as he remembered how inept the people trailing him really was. They probably didn't even know where he went by now.

He didn't bother to waste time worrying; and decided to keep looking whenever he deemed it safe to snoop around. Maybe he could make Mikey call Renet by his own conviction? He just had to think of something to make him do that, and that was much easier said than done. After all, who ever knew the reasoning behind Mikey's irrational actions.

He then had another entertaining though, that he immediately decided to act on;

Why not try to give Donnie a little scare? He had a craving for torturing his former self, and since he wasn't about to leave any second anymore, he though he could at least make his time her entertaining.

A vile grin spread on his face as he thought of what to do. It would be fun to play a little with his mind, make him think he was going insane. It should be easy, as Donnie didn't even know of his existence. He often feel asleep in his lab, which was in close proximity to his own hideout; there was even a way to get there from the pipe without ever entering the lair itself, and he wouldn't make a single alarm go off; unless you count the one in Donnie's head of course. Don laughed a little to himself, exited for the upcoming events; he would get started right away.

2012 - universe:

April let out a heavy sigh as she was sent directly to voicemail, yet again. She had been trying to get a hold of Nathan since last night, after Casey decided to drop truth bombs all over her already compromised relationship with Donnie.

He had stalked off almost immediately, as the mood and reunition had abruptly come to an end.
April barely had time to react before he was gone, and she felt she had already ruined the evening; not wanting to stir the pot further and give Donnie some much needed space, she had left to spend the night with her dad instead, giving Nathan a call on her way home. She didn't really want to let him in of the nature of the nights earlier escapades, but needed someone to talk to nevertheless. Back in the day, that person would probably have been Donnie…
And now that Nathan didn't pick up the phone, she wished that she had Donnie to talk to once more.

April really didn't want to think about what had happened between them, and regretted letting so much be unspoken. If they had just talked about it, and not scurried around the subject, maybe they would have been less affected by the different paths their lives had taken the past few years.
Maybe they would have been as close as before, and maybe they would have dared acting on some of those lingering feelings that continuously almost broke the surface. April didn't really know how Donnie felt about her anymore, but she knew how badly hurt he must have been by her getting a boyfriend and not even telling him about it herself. Having Casey blurt it out in front of everyone like that must have made it even worse.

To be honest, she had feared his reaction, and didn't want to risk losing the few remnants of that deep connection they still had left. She knew deep down, something significant had almost happened between them, and they had something truly special. But she also knew she was the reason it ended before it even began. It was hard staying friends after that, especially for Donnie, but she couldn't bear the thought of not having him in her life anymore. She was horribly selfish, she knew that.
Why she had to put him through this and why she couldn't respect his feelings more and let him go, she didn't know.

April felt her eyes sting a little at the thought of it all; this wasn't how she had envisioned her visit in New York at all. A sniffle escaped her, and she felt a tear roll down her cheek. She sat wrapped up in a blanket on her bed, her window half open; an old habit of hers. She could feel the damp night air, and the many sound of the city after dark washed over her. A sad smile formed on her face as she sat there pondering; at least her beloved hometown hadn't changed.

Suddenly, a flicker in the light from her window caught her attention and the smallest of creaks from the fire-escape revealed the presence of somebody outside.
By pure instinct, she felt her body tense up and get ready for a fight; whoever it was, they were quiet as any ninja. She could only hope it was one of the friendlier ones.

As she approached the window still, silent as ever, she could feel her heart almost beating its way out of her chest. As she came to a holt in front of the window, she almost let out a sigh of relief at the familiar silhouette crouched down in the shadows; "Donnie…Its you."

2012-universe:

Donna was not impressed with her assigned role for this mission. Irrilia had decided to go off on her own, as usual, and Donna was stuck on surveillance duty; as usual. Right now, she was sitting on the edge of a rooftop, keeping lookout as Irrilia was breaking into a drugstore that still hadn't opened. It was also around five in the morning, so it wasn't very surprising. What was strange was that their only option to get something to eat was to steal it. As Irrilia had pointed out quite harshly as Donna refused to rob a store, they didn't have much choice; in this time and place mutants were not really an integrated part of society. Back home, humans and mutants were living side by side, only divided by their loyalty or resistance of the Shredder. Here, you would be screamed at for merely waling down the street, and most likely end up next mornings headlines in every paper and news channel.

She was even less impressed by this. The blatant disgust humans had for her and their kind, was so primitive. Just because she wasn't a descendant of apes, suddenly she was second rate to the rest of society? She didn't mean to sound arrogant, although she probably did, when she said that she was intellectually way above the average human her age. Still, they had the nerve to judge her by the way she looked...? Donna had difficulty accepting the mere idea of such stupidity and ignorance, but an even harder time accepting they were suddenly reduced to low life thugs, breaking and entering to get something to eat.

She mumbled a little to herself, cussing out the discriminatory fears of this pre-shredder era.
She though this would have been a look into a time that was better off, without the tyranny of Shredder, where everyone was treated fairly and according to the same standards, no matter their political leanings. Why Mike would ever be longing for such times to ever return, she didn't understand. Did he enjoy being shunned and unable to participate in society...?
She suddenly had a newfound affection for her own home. However nightmarish it might seem from the outside, inside the rebellion they were one big community, and everyone was there for one another. No materialistic, superficial goods of the past could ever replace something as valuable as that. It was a strange comfort, that no matter what future they ended up return to, it would be even better than this.

Donna watched as her cousin skillfully smashed a window and set of the alarm before she disappeared inside. The noise was overwhelming, and it was bound to attract alle the attention that really didn't really need right now. It sure was a very ninja-like approach Irrilia had taken to the problem at hand, Donna thought to herself and she let out a deep sigh at the other girls' antics.

After a few minutes of stressful waiting at Donnas end, Irrilia snuck out the back door, climbed up the nearest ladder at an astonishing speed and came running towards Donna, jumping from one rooftop to another. It was about time, as she already herd sirens in the distance and a few people had opened their windows to check out what was going on.

The salamander hybrid in question landed next to Donna, and a flashed a huge grin as she showed off the stuffed duffel bag slung over her shoulder. "Very impressive." Donna said in a flat voice, not at all actually impressed; "Maybe next time use just a teeny amount of stealth, would you?" Irrilia narrowed her eyes and gave Donna a glare; " I didn't want to waste time picking any locks." Rolling her eyes, Donna didn't bother to continue the discussion; "Let's just get going. Did you get it all?"
Irrilia grinned again, clearly proud of herself; "Yup! I got all the pills you need; or at least I think so, 'cause I took absolutely everything I could find in there."
Donna couldn't help but let out a small laugh at that; "Thanks. Let's get going." She decided she could wait it out before she swallowed down some painkillers, as she would rather be safely in hiding than prioritizing her aching limbs.

Irrilia nodded, as she grabbed into the duffel bag and pulled out a can of beer. "Really?" Donna raised a brow, unimpressed. Irrilia merely shrugged; "Why not?"
Donna once again didn't bother to reply, and turned around to make a run for it before anyone showed up. Irrilia followed after, crushing the beer can in her hand and throwing it to the ground after gulping it down at record speed.

However, as they were both about to leap of the rooftop and make it back to their makeshift base they set up earlier that night, a gruff condescending voice from behind them made both mutants come to a holt; "And where do you think you are going?"

2012 - universe;

Casey loudly made his way down the staircase and over to the lairs living room area at an alarming speed; Raph and Mikey were sitting in front of the TV, once again playing video game and fighting about who was trying to cheat and how the game was rigged, and Leo was probably off somewhere doing katas or drinking tea.

Casey didn't bother to introduce himself as he threw his mask and hockey sticks to the ground and exclaimed loudly to get everyone attention; "Guys! Guess what I just saw! A mutant turtle!"

Raph merely grunted at Casey, not letting his eyes leave the screen for even a second; "Yeah, we know Donnie has been out all night, it's not all that unusual." After a second of silence, Raph corrected himself; " Scratch that. He barely ever leaves his nerd-cave; it's weird."

"He even missed morning training." Mikey chimed in; Raph looked over at him with a cheeky grin tugging at the corner off his mouth; "Really pissed Leo off there. I wouldn't want to be him when he gets back."

Casey furrowed his brow; how could the guys not take this seriously?! How could they not be just a little bit exited at the thought of a mutant just like them?
"No, I'm not talking about Donnie! I saw a new mutant! Two actually, but one of them was a mutant turtle, just like you guys, and the other was some kind of lizard or something." Casey said again, even more riled up now; "I was out chasing a bounty, when I caught them stealing stuff from a drugstore, but they got away. They had ninja weapons and all; the lizard had sais, just like you Raph!"

His excitement died a little at the end of that sentence as he rubbed his cheek where the lizard-girl had punched him when he tried making friends; it had left quite a nasty bruise. "And I was even gonna let them off the hook, I just wanted to know who they were, I tired becoming friends and all." He said, a little betrayed at the treatment he has received when he tried telling them that he was a friend. He didn't really blame them though; they had probably never met a decent person in their lives.

Casey had finally caught the attention of both turtles in the sofa, and they were looking at him with surprise; "Really?!" Mikey said excitedly, a big grin spreading on his face. "New friends!" he exclaimed as he stood up in the sofa and threw a punch to the air.

Raph got up from the couch and placed his hands of the sai in his belt as he addressed Casey; "Well? Where did you see them last?"

Casey grinned toothlessly and made it clear to follow him; "I'll show you."
