Chapter 6

Gandra had never thought of herself as the romantic type. She'd always been a loner, making no connections with those she met...until she met Fenton. It wasn't love at first sight, more like it was love at first invention. Fenton was someone who thought on the same wave length as she did, as far as machines and tech wnet, that is.

For the first time in a long time, she found someone she could relate to. And suddenly, being a loner didn't sound so great anymore.

But by the time Gandra realized this and had gone to search for Fenton - she'd found him with someone else.

At the time, Gandra was tracking Fenton's phone via GPS. It was a little safeguard, seeing as he was also Gizmoduck. The phone led Gandra to Starducks, which was a normal enough stop for him. Gryo probably had him picking up coffee…

But when Gandra peeked through the glass doors into Starducks - she saw Fenton sitting with someone else. And not just anyone - but Della Duck herself. In all her wonderings of what happened to Fenton after their breakup, Gandra had never expected him to date her, of all people. For one, Della wasn't a rocket scientist, for two, Gandra was pretty sure Fenton worked for her Great Uncle, and for three - For three, Gandra was too upset to come up with a coherent three.

Before Fenton could see her, Gandra left. Jogging through Duckburg with tears in her eyes. She'd left him. She was a villain. She had tricked him. There were endless reasons why she and Fenton wouldn't work...but that didn't matter. What mattered was that Gandra loved Fenton, and still loved him, and right now her heart was breaking.

As she came to the docks, however, another feeling took root. Not sadness or grief - but anger. Anger directed at the person who did this to her - Della Duck.

"Curse you Della Duck!" Gandra shouted to the sky, ignoring the wary stares from passing strangers. She glared up at the sky, her eyes flashing dangerously blue. From her finger tips, small bits of electricity sparking from her fingers. As the anger continued to envelop her, Gandra's earpiece beeped, letting her know she had a call. Still glaring up at the sky, she tapped the ear piece. "What."

"Gandra Dee, I presume." A very unemotional and dull voice said. Gandra didn't recognize it.

"Who is this?" Gandra demanded, turning her gaze from the sky to the sea. She was still seething in anger, and she'd very happily take it out on whoever was on the phone.

"My name is of little importance," The voice said, making Gandra suspicious. The feathers on the back her neck rose ever so slightly. "What is of importance, however, is the fact that we have the same enemy."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Gandra said, glancing around. She pulled out her phone and scanned for any nearby devices. She found none. But then, whoever was on the phone could be hiding it.

"Let me put it another way, Gandra," The fact that whoever was on the line used her first name sent shivers down Gandra's back. "I know of your history with Mr. Crackshel-Cabrera."

"Oh really?" Gandra said, sending another wary glance around her. Maybe she could spot this guy…

"I'm not anywhere near you," The voice said, sending another shoot of cold down her spine. The guy was watching her. Gandra folded her arms, wondering if she should hang up… "and if you decide to hang up and leave, well, suffice it to say I can track you down…"

"Why would you do that?"

"Because, I could use your skills."

"For what, exactly?" Gandra began to walk casually down the boardwalk. She had no place in mind. Except perhaps the park, where reception wasn't great.

"That is classified."

"Of course." Gandra scoffed, flipping a strand of hair out of her face. The voice cleared his throat - at least it sounded like a he - though the person may have been using a filter.

"However, by aligning yourself with me...I can guarantee you information that could help you get back at Della Duck."

Gandra froze. The anger burning inside her was still strong, stronger than her sense of caution and fear.

"Why would I be interested in that?" Gandra asked, her voice cracking unintentionally.

"Because she stole the heart of Fenton." The voice replied in a very matter of fact way. "And from the looks of things, that didn't' make you happy."

"I'm listening." Gandra said. She had a feeling that this was leading her down a dark path...but at the moment she was too emotionally compromised to worry about that. What was on her mind right now was revenge.

"Go to the Sleepy Beds store an hour before it closes. Ask the cashier for the Ultra Comfy Mattress with Triple Foam. Proceed to the mattress alone, and jump on it. We'll talk then."

Before Gandra could ask any other questions, the line went dead. Frowning, she took out her earpiece and stared at it. She knew it could be dangerous to do what this person was asking...especially since she didn't know him.

But he was offering her a way to get back at Della. Maybe even take her out of the picture for good. Then Fenton would, once again, be single. That's when she could make her move.

So sorry for the late update! I was swamped with homework, and then Covid hit and things got all topsy turvey - and honestly I just put off writing while I readjusted. But now I should be updating a little more regularly. Anyway - I hope you all liked this new chapter. I'm not gonna promise what the next chapter will be about...but I'm thinking it revolves around breakfast time, with the triplets asking their mom about why she stayed out so late.
