Chapter 5:

That morning Lily, Pansy, and Daphne walked upstairs to the Great Hall with Draco, Blaise, and Theodore. They sat down at the Slytherin table and started to eat breakfast. Lily grabbed a bagel and cream cheese and a plate of eggs and bacon. She had Potions with the Gryffindor's, Charms with the Ravenclaw's, and Flying lessons with the Gryffindor's and the Ravenclaw's. She asked Pansy, Daphne, Draco, Blaise, and Theodore, "What classes do you guys have today?" Pansy said, "I have Potions with the Gryffindor's, Charms with the Ravenclaw's, and Herbology with the Hufflepuff's." Daphne, Pansy, and Draco all had the same schedule. But Theodore and Blaise had Potions with the Gryffindor's, Transfiguration with the Hufflepuff's, and Charms with the Gryffindor's. Then owls started flying through the air dropping off letters and packages to their owners. Lily looked up to see Orion flying above her with a small package wrapped in brown parchment and wrapped in string. She untied the string and ripped open the package to see an old black leather diary and a note in an envelope. She decided to open the note later after class, so she put the diary and the note in her bookbag. When Lily entered the potions classroom she sat next to Daphne. Professor Snape had just called role call and was starting to teach the lesson. Snape said, "Today you will be attempting to create a simple healing potion. The ingredient list and instructions should be in Chapter 1 of your books." Lily opened her book to chapter 1 read the ingredients and instructions. After a few moments, her simple healing potion had turned blood red, so she grabbed a glass potion jar and poured her potion into the jar. When Professor Snape came over to her desk he said, "Ms. Ravenclaw, you have brewed the healing potion perfect. 50 points to Slytherin." But only two other people had a perfect healing potion, and those were Theodore Nott's and Hermione Granger's. Professor Snape awarded Theodore another 50 points to Slytherin and took 10 points from Hermione because her potion was not admitting steam. Lily's charm class went by too fast but Flidwick assigned them a 2-page essay on simple charms. In Lily's flying lesson, Madam Hooch taught them how to mount and ride a broomstick. But one of Ravenclaw's kicked away from the ground too early and they couldn't get down when Madam Hooch told them to get down. Instead, the boy crashed into the castle wall and broke his arm. So Madam Hooch had to bring him to the hospital wing. As soon as she was gone, William Finnigan picked up the boy's good luck charm and said, "Look that stupid Ravenclaw dropped his good luck charm. I know what I should do with this, I will put this in a tree for him to find." Then William laughed and ran to grab a broom from the pile. Lily rushed forward, grabbed William's broom before he could kick off from the ground. She yelled, "Give it back Finnigan!" William sneered "Fine Ravenclaw catch it if you can" and he threw it across the field. Lily ran towards the lucky charm that was in the air and caught it before it hit the ground. As soon as she got back to the group Madam Hooch came back and said, "Finnigan, Ravenclaw where is Terry Boot's lucky charm?" Lily said, "Right here Madam Hooch! I just grabbed it from Finnigan before he could throw it into the lake." Madam Hooch looked at William and asked, "Is that true Mr. Finnigan?"Finnigan looked down at his shoes and said, "Yes Madam Hooch." Madam Hooch then looked at Lily "Thank you for saving Mr. Boot's Lucky charm, I will award 10 points to Slytherin. Class is dismissed."
