A/N: I said I was going to look at feedback and revise... and revise I did. But I've decided to publish all 10 new chapters at once. So this fic has just tripled in length overnight. Not sure if I'll do less sporadic updates in the future. Please leave reviews and enjoy!

Chapter 6: Goodbyes

Megumin woke up first, and nudged Kazuma until he finally woke up as well. Megumin had convinced Kazuma last night to ditch the spare mattress, and Kazuma had seen no good reason to refuse, given his recent success with her new birth certificate. Besides, after they landed in the US she'd be his new boss, and he wouldn't want to piss off his boss. Nothing had happened anyway, since they were both genuinely exhausted.

"Hey, Megumin…"

"What?"

"Please don't hit me for saying this, but…"

"Kazuma…"

"Are you… attracted to explosions?"

"What kind of stupid question is that?! Of course I am! I must study and appreciate all forms of explosion."

"No, I meant more… sexually. Not that I'm here to kink shame, of course."

"What makes you think that?"

Megumin looked totally calm, if not a little bit annoyed, which confused Kazuma. Why did this question not embarrass her? He had been totally convinced it was some weird fetish...

"Well, when we showed you that nuclear test footage, you seemed really… into it."

"Kazuma, you dummy. My love for explosions is completely platonic. Imagine the joy of beating Aqua in rock paper scissors 10 times in a row, and multiply that by 100. That's how I feel about explosions: it's not sexual at all."

"I think I understand now. I'm kind of glad, too. I don't know how I could possibly satisfy that kink for you. I'll have to correct McAllen about that."

"What are you talking about?!"

"He brought it up with me yesterday after seeing you watch that footage."

"What a pervert! I'll report him to his superiors! He'll rue the day he dared cross a Crimson Demon…"

"You're really complaining to me about perverts? Seriously?"

"Fine…"

Kazuma remembered something she had said: rock paper scissors! This was a perfect way to test his luck, which he'd been wondering about since they got arrested.

"Hey Megumin. Wanna play a few rounds of rock paper scissors?"

"Kazuma, what's the point? You always win that game… wait, you're trying to check your luck stat, aren't you?"

"Bingo. If I find out that my luck is complete trash, I'll know to be more careful. If it's good though… we could pull off what we did in Elroad and make loads of cash."

After playing 30 rounds, Kazuma didn't lose, or even draw, once. The luck was strong with this boy. He threw his hands up in prayer.

"Thank you, Eris-sama… you really are the best."

"Well that answers your question…"

They were interrupted by a knock on the bedroom door. Kazuma opened the door to find his parents, with their bags in hand.

"Kazuma, McAllen's arrived. He says that there'll be breakfast on the plane. Also, he asked that Megumin wear normal Japanese clothes today."

"Are we headed to Tokyo airport?"

"No, it's an Air Force Base. It's not too far from here, so hopefully you won't get too hungry. Your brother is awake too, he's downstairs."

Kazuma and Megumin quickly got dressed and then came downstairs.

"Kazuma, I'm going to miss you… you'll call me, right? If you don't I'll find this McAllen guy and give him hell."

"Mom, relax. I'll call you as much as you want."

"You've grown up so fast, my son… I remember the day we lost you, your NEET days… you've only been back from the dead for two days and you've got a job lined up in America, and a girl who loves you. How times have changed…"

Kazuma looked at his father. For once, he was the one getting all emotional. Usually, that was his mother's thing.

"Dad… I know that I've changed a lot, but I'm still the same old Kazuma I've always been. That's never going to change."

Kazuma wrapped both of his parents up in a hug. After a while, Kumiko broke up the hug and turned towards Megumin.

"Megumin, you really have no idea how happy it makes us that our little Kazuma has finally found someone… and we're so happy it's you. It's almost like a match made in heaven."

Ugh, Kazuma thought. His mother could be so over the top. But that last line upset him. Without his ridiculous luck stat, Megumin might not have fallen for him, and Eris was also the one who made an exception to send them to Japan in the end. So really, this match was made in heaven. There's no 'almost' about it.

"Megumin, I know I doubted you for your age at first, but I couldn't ask for a better companion for my son. If he ever makes you cry, you know what to do."

"Explosion magic."

Kazuma jumped a bit, but Megumin winked at him, letting him know she was joking. Probably?

"Tsuyoshi, Kumiko, I know I've only known you for two days, but you feel like a second pair of parents to me. That you're letting Kazuma tag along on my insane pursuit of explosions in another country shows how wonderful you are, and that you've placed your trust in me. I'm going to miss you two."

Megumin pulled Kumiko into a hug and finally shook Tsuyoshi's hand.

Megumin turned to Yamato.

"Please don't die just to see the world I came from. It's not worth losing your parents over. The food here is better, too."

She then came up close to whisper.

"But if you do die, by chance, look for Aqua and Darkness. The last I heard, they inherited a very large mansion from someone who died."

Yamato smiled at Megumin.

"I think I'll try to enjoy my childhood, and start worrying about getting a girlfriend once I'm Kazuma's age."

He whispers to Megumin.

"But if I do die, I'll be sure to check out the Crimson Demons."

She punched him lightly on the arm, and he pretended to be hurt. Kazuma then turned to face Yamato.

"Yamato, I know I tease you a lot, but you know I care about you, right?"

Yamato nodded.

"Don't worry so hard about getting a girlfriend. Just don't become a NEET like me and it won't be too hard. Okay?"

"Is everything you and Megumin said about the Crimson Demons true?"

"Sure is. Some of them can even use more than one spell. Hey! Megumin! I was joking! Relax!"

After their "fight," Kazuma and Megumin took their bags and headed out the front door into the car that was waiting for them.
