The next few days pass Elena ignores him completely, she leaves the room when he enters, she turns around when he comes face to face with her. As long as she is fulfilling her duties for Hope Klaus doesn't mind her ignorance but one day, Klaus was out killing his enemies, the day was oddly hotter than the other summer days he returned home earlier than the usual because he was yearning for a shower.
He went to the kitchen to get some ice cold blood from the fridge there he noticed smell of blood lingered in the kitchen, he wondered he had ordered his hybrids to stay away from home unless necessary, he sped to Hope's nursery where he saw Elena feeding Hope a red liquid (not blood red but still red), his blood boiled and he felt intense rage when he realized that the smell of blood was coming from the two of them.
Hope was seated in a chair and Elena was on her knees feeding that liquid through baby bottle to her. One second Elena was there and the other Klaus threw her on a wall, her head hitting the wall harshly, he stood before her not giving her the time to recover from the shock, he held her upper arms so tight, he was crushing her.
"You, I thought you were moral, but you are feeding blood to my child, this will not be forgiven Elena, what did you think, that I wouldn't be home for long so you could do anything what you like with my child."
Elena was shocked, she had no words to say to what Klaus was telling her, obviously Klaus had totally misunderstood her but she didn't say anything in self-defence she wanted Klaus to kill her and put her out of her misery so she just stood silent and took all the allegations thrown on her she didn't want to stop Klaus.
"Do you think I will forgive you for this, there are things worse than death I will make you experience for this Elena but first I have to take that thing away from my daughter." He throws her on the floor violently and rushes to Hope and snatches the bottle from her tiny hands, she cries like a toy had been taken away from her
He opens the baby cap and gulped the entire liquid in a go and a wash of guilt ran through him. There was no hint of blood in that liquid, it was water melon, lemon, mint leaves, salt, cumin powder, crushed ice, a refreshing summer drink that he didn't know he had wanted until he drank it up.
He was sure he smelled blood but there was no drop of blood in the drink then he looked down on the floor, the blood was there, hesitantly he turned to look at Elena and the smell of blood was stronger on her, he rushes to her to stand her up, she pushes him away.
"Stop, don't Klaus, don't touch me." She says with hate and disgust in her eyes, he looks down and finds out her foot was bleeding, she might have stepped on some glass or anything. He has to make this right, he doesn't want to spoil his newly found bond with Elena especially after he has seen her manage Hope so well.
"Elena, you need a doctor." He reaches for her arm and she moves back, "I said don't touch me."
"Elena, why didn't you tell me before, you know I lose my temper when it comes to Hope."
Elena smiles with sarcasm and says, "When it comes to Hope? Well you lose your temper all the time, if you think so low of me then why bring me here why take my life away from me, I spent most of the time of my day with Hope because she is the only thing that keeps me sane, especially after the stunt you pulled a few days ago."
"Oh" he says, "So it's about Damon."
"No, it's not about Damon, it's about what you want, you take my life away whenever you want, you kill me, you take my blood everything but today you have hurt my self-esteem, so please do me a favour and don't show me your face."
"Well that's not possible sweetheart, you are going to fulfil the role of my child's mother, you will obviously see me every day."
"Then why not get someone else Klaus, why me? Why?"
Klaus laughs and says, "Oh again the same question, well, let me clear this to you sweetheart, a few weeks before you woke up from your sleeping curse there was a huntress who had marked Stefan. Her name is Rayna Cruz, she kills vampires and stores their spirits in a hell stone, she was on her last life when Damon almost killed her but he learnt that when Rayna dies so do all of her targets."
"Why are you telling me this Klaus."
"Just shut up and listen" he says and she complies.
"Damon saved Rayna and gave her to the armoury, the armoury is conducting experiments on Rayna Cruz and when Rayna's last life ends so does Stefan's. Damon was so washed away with guilt about almost killing his brother that he took a decision, he decided to desiccate himself till you wake up. He is in a box, just like you were; Stefan is on the run from Rayna Cruz because he knows he can never stop running till Rayna is alive."
"I should raise Damon then." Elena says, "I am alive and he should know it."
Klaus laughs and says, "Do you think it is that easy sweetheart. Stefan would never leave his brother alone, only he knows where Damon is because he cloaked him with Bonnie's help so that no one finds and kills him out of vengeance and Bonnie."
"What about Bonnie, I saw her in a cute house after Vincent unlinked us." Elena asks
Klaus answers her, "The armoury is looking for her, Damon's friend Enzo has her in the hiding, her coming out will only make matters worse for her, they armed with weapons that stop her magic, Do you honestly really want that they find her out?"
Elena nods in negative and says the next name, "Caroline?"
"Caroline gave birth to twins, she is with Alaric in Dallas, they both are raising their daughters and Alaric doesn't want any vampire or doppelgangers near them. As you know Elena, doppelgangers invite trouble." He grins at her.
"And last but not the least, Jeremy, he is finally living his life, do you really want him to return to your messed up life, finally he has accepted his fate to be alone and he is actually doing good in life and you returning to him will make matters worse because he will have more to take care of than just himself."
Elena is in a deep thought and Klaus pulls her out of that, "And so Elena, this leaves you alone just like me. The choice is yours Elena, you can either go out of that door to return to the life which no longer exists or you can stay here, have the privilege of raising a child, the choice is yours, I won't compel you this time. Cure or not Elena, Damon and you never would have united because Stefan would raise him after six decades or so."
All that anger that Elena had been feeling for Klaus slips away, she finally accepts that cure or not she never would have united to Damon, now she can live her life alone or she can be here and embrace what Klaus has to offer her. Unknowingly she takes steps towards Hope and lifts her up carrying her lovingly to the bed.
She has accepted that even she is alone just as Klaus is, she never really had the intention to live the remainder of her life with Klaus but everywhere she sees this is the only option that makes her feel better, at least she will have someone to love, it's better to raise a daughter than to live alone the rest of her life.
Klaus watches her as though reading her mind, Elena is so transparent to him, he has always seen right through her, be it the time she killed Kol, or the prank night, or the time she suffered the Hunter's curse, or the first time he ever laid eyes on her in Alaric's body. He sees her accepting her fate to be with him. He smiles and leaves her be.
Klaus enters the kitchen and orders his hybrids to bring a doctor for Elena, while he takes out the ingredients of the same drink; it's time he cooks for both the ladies of his life. He smiles, he is happy, he never knew Elena accepting her fate with him would make him so happy. He chops the ingredients and places them in a blender and mixes it.
He tastes the drink and he has successfully replicated her drink, he walks to the room to see Elena has drifted to sleep while Hope is still awake playing with her hair. He smiles thinking he finally has his girl and his daughter by his side. He places the drink on the table and feeds Hope the beverage before putting her to sleep next to her.
He remembers how Elena had arranged pillows around Hope so that he may not crush her, but he doesn't quite understand how to do it. By this time his hybrid arrives with a doctor, the doctor treats Elena's foot, turns out some of the glass pieces were stuck inside. Elena woke up when the first piece was taken out and after all the pieces were taken out and her foot was dressed, she found it hard to stand.
This is the first time she missed getting healed from vampire blood which is now no longer possible for her because she is cured. She struggles to stand up which is when Klaus comes to her aid and picks her up in his arms, she is reluctant but Klaus tells her, "You are to be with me for the rest of your life love, try and get used to it."
Elena has never got such loving gestures from Klaus, he has either killed her, or abused her for her blood, or tried to take her away from her life but this, this gesture is something else, she doesn't admit it to herself but she actually likes this loving and caring side of him. She is staring him while thinking that and he notices it.
"Didn't know you were so interested in me that you couldn't move your eyes away from me love." She blushes and hates it instantly; she looks away from his face and turns her head to look behind his shoulder.
"Klaus, look out, she yells." And he turns to see a group of men and women shooting wooden bullets at him, but he is faster than them, he vamps with Elena to Hope's room. "Where are my bloody hybrids" he says.
Those men enter Hope's room and Klaus kills the first one who comes there, the rest of them cast a spell preventing Klaus from moving anywhere, they immobilise Klaus, this is when they both learn that they are witches. They move towards Hope but Elena hits that one on the neck, driving a knife through his neck. This kill releases Klaus, turns out he was the one to immobilise him. Klaus kills the rest of the witches and walks out to learn that his hybrids are dead.
He brings the dead bodies out and burns them to death. He hears a heartbeat and it's not Elena's because she is standing on the other side, he picks a stone and throws in the direction of the heartbeat and a witch is revealed, she was cloaked and she had the Tunde blade in her hands. He kills that witch too.
He vamps to Hope's room and finds out that they have made graffiti on the ceiling. A serpent eating its own tail.
