Hello friends!
Welcome to the six chapter of Spider-Verse: Life We Never Had.
Hope you enjoy and now on to the reviews.
alexfilhoaqw: I wouldn't say Aiden is unhappy, he just still in mourning over his Gwen.
Devil2024: Thank you!
Now story time, enjoy.
Aiden felt himself speeding forward in a howl of glitching energy, a swirl of webbed colors as he was pulled magnetically onward and then...
He landed with a loud thud on something very soft. "...Please..." he thought, picking himself off the bed, "Just let me be home..."
He found himself back in his apartment, which was still a mess after the night with Felicia. With a grin he pushed himself off his bed, walking downstairs towards the living room, where his white piano was located. Playing a few keystrokes, he unlocked a bookcase which slid open.
He walked in the elevator, the bookcase slid close and the elevator descended.
Stepping out and walked into his own Spider Lair, with its own tech lab, glass containers with past suits. A leather chair rise from the floor in front of the massive computer and holographic display.
Logging in, he saw that it was now Sunday evening. Putting in a storage device, Aiden opened the blue prints and everything else Doc Ock and Peter had for the supercollider.
Night had turned to day as Aiden was still working on it. The chair was turned around. A holographic display model of his own version of a supercollider was being displayed in the center.
"...Try the shape of a mobius strip." Aiden said walking around the holographic display, "Inverted please."
"Processing..." the voice of his A.I. said.
"Give me that eigenvalue." Aiden said moving the model around, "Okay, put that particle specter here and move the flux capacitor there." he moved a piece of the hologram to the place he wanted it to be.
"Processing... Processing... Processing... Model rendered."
The screen displayed 'MODEL SUCCESSFUL: 99.987%'.
In a complete shock of amazement, bewildered by this discovery. Aiden falls back into his chair as he looked up at the holographic model of the perfected supercollider.
With no other words, he raised his hands and said the only thing that came to mind, "Shit!"
An exhausted but satisfied looking Aiden was sitting in his office at Arclight Tower with Peter, both of them eating lunch at the middle of the first work day of the week.
"You look like shit." Peter said between bites, "Another long weekend?"
"You can say that again." Aiden said, rubbing a hand through his hair as he suppressed a yawn.
"So what did you do this weekend?" Peter said, "Thought I read something about Spider-Man chasing Black Cat."
"Oh, you know nothing too excited." Aiden said, hiding a yawn behind his hand, "Slept with Felicia again, got into an argument with her, traveled to another dimension, got home then discovered the physics of dimensional travel in a matter of a few hours. Nothing special."
"You did what!?" Peter exclaimed just as the nearby radio went off and the voice of J. Jonah Jameson's came out.
"The internet's rife with footage of Spider-Man chasing Black Cat last Friday night and apparently there are hordes of young people cheering them on. They're called shippers. No that has nothing to do with boats, it's short for 'relationship'. As in they really want Spider-Man and Black Cat to be together romantically... or they really don't. And they have quite intense arguments about it. Flame wars I believe is the term."
"You know, in my day, we didn't have time for flame wars about shipping. Y'know why? Because we had jobs! So here's J. Jonah Jameson's public service announcement to our youth: you're into shipping? JOIN THE NAVY!"
"Why do you keep listening to him?" Peter said slightly disgusted.
"Why not? This is comedy gold!" Aiden said with a small laugh, "So anyway, about traveling between alternative dimensions..." he pulled out a file, placing it on the table and sliding it to Peter.
As Peter picked up the file and began to read through it, as Aiden continued to explain, "It was the EPR Paradox. Instead of pushing someone through space, you wind up pushing space through that person. That was the problem."
"It's tricky. Dangerous." Peter said, not looking up from the file, "But thank God I'm here."
It had been a few weeks since then, Spider-Man was swinging towards the NYC Police Department after receiving a urgent call from his woman on the inside, one he hadn't seen in a long time.
Landing down above the roof entrance, he didn't need to wait long before the door opened and the firm booty and the woman they belonged to stepped out on the roof. His police ally Yuriko 'Yuri' Watanabe.
She walked over to the edge of the roof, leaning against the railing and when Spider-Man turned his gaze away from her behind, he noticed she was missing something, a thing she usually used as excuse to come to the roof to meet him.
"Glad to see you accepted my advice."
Yuri turned around to find Spider-Man perched on top of the roof, and he could swear that she smiled as if she was happy to see him again.
"Now that you quit smoking." Spider-Man said, "What do you tell people when you come up here?"
"That I need a break from their crap." she said, shaking her head.
"Fair enough." Spider-Man said, jumping down from the roof and landing on the railing, "Why did you call? Need a date to the police ball?"
"You got a black and white suit." Yuri said, "Thought I read an article about you wearing one back in the day."
"I used to..." Spider-Man said remembering his time with the symbiote.
"Doesn't matter, there is no police ball this year." she said, gesturing over her shoulder, "We spend too much integrating Arclight's surveillance tech."
"Worth it though, right?" Spider-Man said.
"It was until an hour ago." Yuri said, "The whole system went down."
"Let me guess, you need the towers back online." Spider-Man said placing a hand on his chest, "And you called me? Have you thought about calling helpdesk?"
"I called someone I can trust." Yuri said.
"You did?... I'm touched, Yuri, really. This is cause for a celebration!" Spider-Man said jumping off the railing, "How about you and me get some drinks down at The Morning Star?"
"The Morning Star?" Yuri said with a raised eyebrow, "Isn't that the club uptown where the owner thinks he is the devil?"
"Yes, that is the one." Spider-Man said as he went to work on the surveillance tower and she went back inside.
One evening, Spider-Man landed on top on the roof of Manhattan Museum of Contemporary Art. Leaning against the side of the wall crossing his arms, waiting a few moments before out of a upper window Black Cat came out.
"Good evening, Felicia." Spider-Man said pushing himself off the wall.
"Oh, it's you." she said irritated, clearly still angry from the last time they saw each other.
As she reached behind her, to throw another smoke pallet he would guess, Spider-Man quickly called out, "Felicia, wait. I-I came to apologies."
"You what?" she said confused, "I think I need a recording of this."
"I wasn't over Gwen, still in mourning, but that is no excuse for how badly I treated you." he said, "Looking back, I'm surprised you put up with it for as long as you did."
"Well... You needed someone. Couldn't leave my favorite Spider on his own when he needed someone." she admitted as she approached him, "It wasn't all bad. We had many good times as well. There is a reason I keep coming back."
She placed a hand on his chest, moving to her face closer to his as she tilted her head. But he took her hand, stopping her from doing what they had done the last time.
"Felicia. No." Spider-Man said shaking his head, "We can't do this anymore. It's not good for the both of us."
"Why won't it be?" Felicia said confused, "If we both enjoy it."
"It's not about if we enjoy it, because believe me I do. I care about you Felicia, and in some way, I always will." Spider-Man said sadly, "But if we keep doing this, we can't move on with our lives."
A silence followed between the two as they just stood there, hand in hand staring into her green eyes.
"I see..." Felicia said finally, letting go off him, "We had a good thing, didn't we?"
"No, we had a great thing." Spider-Man said, shooting a web, "Goodbye Felicia." before swinging away.
Four weeks later, Spider-Man was swinging through the city on his way to Arclight Tower. Passing by an alley, he spotted two men wearing masks harassing a young man.
Despise being outnumbered by two grown men with a much stronger build, the young man managed to counter a kick and wrestle one to the ground but was quickly overpowered by the other one.
"You just made your last mistake, punk." one of them said as the young man was thrown to the wall and the other one recovered.
Diving down, he shot a web to pull one of them in, striking him once he reached him, breaking a few of his ribs. The other one had his hand crushed when Spider-Man griped his hand. Before smashed him head first into the ground, knocking him out cold.
"Hey kid." Spider-Man said, holding out his hand to the kid, "You alright?"
With an excited smile, the young man accepted Spider-Man's hand as he pulled him back to his feet. Spider-Man recognized him immediately, even if the boy was a year or so older than the one from the other dimension.
"Y-You're Spider-Man!" Miles Morales said excitedly shaking his hand, "You're the amazing Spider-Man! You're the spectacular Spider-Man!"
"Don't forget ultimate and superior, also a few other choice adjectives J.J. likes to use." Spider-Man said as Miles let go of his hand, "Look, that was really brave, but next time leave the fighting to the pros, alright?"
"Okay, but..." Miles said, "What if there aren't any around?"
"Don't swing at someone twice your size. I mean, I fight guys stronger than me all the time, like one time with Thanos... Never mind long story." Spider-Man said, "What I'm saying is, if the other guy is bigger, you have to be quicker."
He started to give a few instruction on how to fight to Miles, which ended with Miles accidently punching him in the jaw.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Miles said shocked.
"It's alright, Black Widow punched me harder." Spider-Man laughed it off, "Your gonna go far kid."
"Uhm... Thanks." Miles said, getting a thumbs up from Spider-Man before he swung away with a web, "...I just punched Spider-Man..."
Aiden stepped out of the elevator in the main entrance of Arclight Tower in his dark business suit including a black blazer and dress pants suit, white dress shirt and nice shoes.
He immediately spotted what he was looking for.
The group of new interns had gathered in front of Curie Cho, who was addressing them.
"Welcome to Arclight. My name is Curie Cho , I'm a senior scientist and I'm also head assistant to Mr. Parker, so I'll be with you for the duration of your visit." she said to the group, "Where I go, you go. That's the basic rule. If you remember that, all will be fine."
Aiden stays behind the group, specifically keeping an eye on a certain intern as he followed the intern group as Curie gives them a tour of Arclight Tower.
"No way dude." Ganke Lee said, "There is just no way you punched Spider-Man, even by accident."
"I swear, it happened." Miles protested.
"You two better pay attention." Aiden whispered to them, "Madame Cho doesn't like having to repeat herself."
"Oh, right." Miles said paying better attention, "Thanks."
As Curie takes the interns to a lab in Arclight, with Aiden hiding in the back of the group, Peter appears and addresses the interns.
"Welcome, my name is Peter Parker." Peter said, "I'm head of Applied science..."
"And the reasons Aiden Arclight hasn't turned himself into a cyborg." Aiden said, making the interns turn to him, "Seriously, I'm tired of walking, I want my damn jetpack already."
"I build a jetpack for you." Peter said with a laugh, "And you never use it!"
"You did?" Aiden said with a shrug, "Oh well."
"Holy... Aiden Arclight." Ganke said wide eyed to Miles.
"How long has he been behind us?" Miles whispered back.
"Long enough to hear that you punched Spider-Man in the face." Aiden said with a wink, "Jameson will like that."
Later that day, Aiden and Peter were in the elevator down towards the hidden base inside Arclight Tower.
"About the applicants for the intern position." Peter said looking at the file, "You know, this might be the first time you actually accepted one on your own. Why though?"
"Because I have a good feeling about this Miles Morales." Aiden said with a knowing wink, "Call it a leap of faith." as the elevator came to a stop.
The two walked out out of the elevator, the base now contained a large glass platform and a control panel hooked up to it.
"Anyways about the supercollider..." Peter said, holding up his right hand, with a device on it, "I fixed it."
When he had turned around, he saw that Aiden already had taken off his clothes to reveal his Spider Suit.
"Did... Did you just leave your clothes on the lab floor?" Peter said.
Awkwardly, Aiden picked up his clothes and folded them in a neat pile, "Where do you?..." he said.
"Just... the desk is fine." Peter said shaking his head, "So anyway, this is fully functioning Dimension GPS..." he gestured to the device on his hand.
"Peter, you beautiful bastard." Aiden said placing his clothes down and taking the device. Strapping the device around his wrist, he jumped on the glass platform.
Aiden pulled on his mask as Peter stood behind the console.
"Tractors engaged." Peter said looking up from the console, "Aiden... promise to come back in one piece? Don't forget, you promised May you would come on that vacation to Disney World."
"Yeah, yeah." Aiden said, pressing a few buttons on the Dimension GPS, "I'll do my best."
"As promises go, that was pretty lame." Peter said with a roll of his eyes, "See you in a minute." and he pressed a button.
It happened immediately, Aiden felt himself suddenly jerked irresistibly forward. His feet fell through the glass floor through the stable glitching portal.
Aiden was speeding forward in a howl of glitching energy, dodging multiple webs, before getting caught in one.
He landed on the floor of a small bedroom in Queens, New York. But a different New York, in a different dimension.
"...That was unpleasant." Aiden muttered.
"Who are you?"
Aiden looked up to see a boy, around Miles age, wearing a red and blue Spider-Man suit but with some added stripes on his upper arms and a smaller black spider symbol on his chest.
"I'm... like you." Aiden said, removing his mask as he felt his Spider-sense went off, the same feeling back when he met Miles and he was sure this Spider was feeling it as well, "Aiden Arclight."
"Peter Parker." Peter said.
Another voice came from the hallway, "Peter? Are you up yet."
Immediately Aiden jumped to the ceiling where he stuck to it as the young Peter jumped into bed and hid the fact he was wearing his suit by laying under his bed covers. A few seconds later a much younger woman than any version he had met of her previously, peaked her head around the door.
"Are you alright?" May Parker said, "Who where you talking to?"
"Yeah, May, I'm okay." Peter lied, shooting a quick glance at Aiden, "Just muttering to myself... I'm just... I'm very naked right now."
"Oh, okay." the unusually attractive aunt said, closing the door behind her.
A few seconds past to make sure she wouldn't be listening at the door or something like that before Aiden jumped down from the ceiling. "That is your Aunt May!?" Aiden said surprised as he removed his mask, "I know Aunt May, several actually by now, but I never met one that was Aunt Hottie."
"Aunt H-Hottie!?" Peter said standing up from his bed, "Who the fudge are you!?"
"As I said, I'm Aiden Arclight." he said holding out his hand, "I'm Spider-Man from my world."
"Spider-Man from your world?" Peter said confused but accepted the handshake.
"There are multiple dimensions, Peter." Aiden said as he checked his GPS, "This dimension is Earth 199999. I'm from Earth 626."
"I'm sorry." Peter said excitedly, "You're saying there's a multiverse?"
"I call it the Spider-verse." Aiden said, "But yes."
This seemingly made young Peter forget what Aiden said about his aunt, "Because I thought that was just theoretical. That completely changes how we understand the initial singularity. We're talking about an eternal inflation system and how does that even work with all the quantum... It's insane!"
Peter realizes Aiden was looking at him amused, "S-sorry." he muttered, "It's really cool."
"Don't ever apologize for being the smartest one in the room." Aiden said with a smile before putting his mask back on, "It was nice meeting you, but I got to go. Dimensions to visit, people to meet." he pressed a button on his GPS and he soon disappeared in the same glitching energy.
Excited, Peter presses the spider emblem on his chest. The suit becomes baggy again and falls down from his body.
Aiden speeds forward once again in a howl of glitching energy, dodging multiple webs, a single strand began to light up for him as he was pulled magnetically onward and then...
He landed on top of a building, in a different New York, in a different dimension.
"Whoa." Aiden said.
He heard police sirens in the distance. Shooting a web, Aiden he swung in the direction of the disturbance.
It wasn't long before he touched down in Time Square, where he saw a familiar Spider-Woman with a badly damaged suit, surrounded by NYC Swat Team as she fought against this dimension's Captain America, who seemed to be a woman.
Captain America lands a powerful bash with her shield against Gwen's chest, knocking her to the ground.
"Gwendolyn Stacy, you're under arrest for the murder of Peter Parker and Aiden Arclight." Captain America said, "If you resist any further, I will be forced to use lethal force."
"I already told you..." Gwen said, getting back on her feet, "I didn't do it."
"Then you will die lying." Captain America said with a noticeable growl.
She throws the shield going for the killing blow, only for it to be webbed up. Captain America and the police force looked up as Aiden landed on the car holding the shield.
"Hey everyone." Aiden said and immediately the NYC Swat Team aimed their weapons at him.
"Stand down." Captain America said, "Whoever you are."
"Don't you know who I am?" Aiden said as he walked over to Gwen, who was stunned to see him, "I'm Spider-Man."
Cap runs and jumps to grab her shield before slamming it towards Spider-Man, who blocks with one arm. Captain America starts punching Spider-Man repeatedly, who starts dodging the punches and attempts to kick Cap, but her shield blocks Spider-Man's kick. However, Cap gets forced back.
He hurls a few web shots at Captain America, but she blocks them. Cap throws her shield.
Spider-Man jumps over the shield, and grabs Cap with his webbing as the shield bounces off a car and comes back towards the fighters.
The shield hits Spider-Man in the back and Captain America pulls the dazed Spider forward, running and grabbing her shield before slamming it against Spider-Man, forcing him into a car.
Spider-Man rushes towards Cap in an attempt to hit her, but the shield takes the whole force of the charge. Spider-Man keeps hitting the shield, but still to no effect.
Cap forces Spider-Man back and is prepared to finish the fight before Spider-Man webs up her face, causing Cap to punch the car.
Spider-Man hits the disoriented Captain America a few more times, knocking Cap to her knees. Spider-Man picks up Cap's Shield and smacks Cap upwards with it.
Dropping a smoke pallet to cause confusion around the SWAT team, using the shield to block the incoming bullets as it gave Aiden enough time to pick Gwen up and swing them both away before they could regroup.
Once the smoke cleared, all Captain America and the SWAT team saw was the shield laying on the floor.
A short swing later, Aiden and Gwen landed on top of a building, where he sat her down against a wall.
"Gwen, are you hurt?" Aiden said concerned taking his mask off, "Are you alright?" kneeling down next to her.
"You're here..." she said in disbelieve, suddenly lifting herself up so she could wrap her arms around him, "You're here... You're actually here."
"Gwen, what happened to you?" Aiden said even more concerned, returning the embrace.
"...I-I didn't tell you everything in Miles's dimension." Gwen said, "Peter was our best friend in my dimension. He was bullied and... When we started dating, he suddenly stopped talking to us. He found out about me being Spider-Woman. After the accident with the Lizard, he stole the serum of the Lizard formula and..."
"He didn't..." Aiden said horrified.
"He turned himself into a raging monster, the serum was slowly killing him... So when we fought... The serum killed him. The police found us and I was framed for murder... and a month ago..." Gwen latched herself onto Aiden as she began to cry into his shoulder, "Doc Ock killed my father... Then he revealed my identity. I've been hunted every since."
He pulled her closer to him, "I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have ever gone through that..." Aiden said, "But why would Cap be trying to kill you, the one I know would never kill. Then again, Steve doesn't have a pair of tits."
"Peggy Carter was friends with my Aiden." Gwen said, "So that is why she was intending on killing me..."
"It's okay, it's okay..." Aiden said softly rubbing her back, knowing his plan had changed, "Gwen, this might be sudden... but I think you should come back with me."
"Aiden... I would love nothing more." Gwen said, "But how would that even work? I'll glitch there and eventually die."
"I actually solved that problem." Aiden said gesturing to his Dimension GPS, "It was all about being careful enough when you push someone through space, if not you risk pushing space through that person... Peter can explain it better than me. And if I'm wrong and you glitch out, I can always return you. Question is... do you want to come with me?"
"Aiden..." she said grabbing his hand, "There is nothing left for me here."
"Alright..." Aiden said slightly relieved, "One dimension trip, coming up."
He touched the device on his wrist and the now familiar feeling happened instantly as the glitching energy spread from him to her.
Aiden felt himself suddenly jerked irresistibly forward, pulling Gwen with him. They were speeding forward in a howl of glitching energy, dodging multiple webs, a single strand began to light up as he was pulled magnetically onward and then...
They landed on the glass platform, the portal closing under them. Peter looked up from his desk, smiling in relieve that his friend had returned.
"I already said it once, and I will say it again. Pete you beautiful bastard!" Aiden said with a smirk as he stepped off the platform patting his friend on the back, "We did it!"
"That's great, Aiden. Glad your atoms weren't shattered across time and space." Peter said with a smile, before noticing who was standing behind them, "Is this..."
"Yeah, this is her." Aiden said gesturing to her, "My favorite Spider-Woman."
Peter watched her remove her mask and hood, "Gwen?" Peter said stunned, eyes wide as he saw his friend alive and well.
"Hey, Peter." Gwen said with a small sad smile, "Your... Not as big as the other Peter..."
"...I'm pretty sure you just called other me fat." Peter said, a bit at a lost of words.
"Actually he was. Beter stay away from those pizza's." Aiden said with a smile, "Oh, we're gonna need a new suit."
"Already?" Peter said gesturing to him, "Well I already told you, three buttons is a little nineties, Aiden."
"I meant for her." Aiden said, gesturing his head towards Gwen and her ripped and teared suit.
