Author's Note : To all my supporters. I'm happy you're enjoying the ride of this story. Thank you. Review!
"I want a divorce." Lucas announced.
Brooke felt her stomach drop and her entire body tense up.
"No I'm doing that. My parents as insane and lacking in every area as they are. At the very least stayed together. Breaking our family apart is not the solution here." Brooke replied.
"Then what exactly arre we supposed to do.? I'm basically living at the office. You are burying yourself in work. Staying at the store after hours. The only time we come up for air is when it involves the kids."
"How right or fair is it for them to want to be anywhere else but at home because us fighting and tension is all they get.?" Lucas questioned.
"Why is this such an easy decision for you to make.? Leaving me. Tearing down everything we built because we're going through a rough patch." Brooke questioned.
He looked back at her his eyes wide. "The break down of our marriage has been going on for years now. This isn't easy for me at all. I hate it. I never wanted to get here. I thought we would last a lifetime." He replied.
"I'm sure Lindsay will be thrilled." Brooke said.
"I could say the same for Julian. But we both know they aren't the main issue between us. We are. A marriage only works if both people are willing to work and try to fix it." Lucas stated.
"Peyton said it best. People always leave. I'm sure you regret it now. Allowing us to become anything real at all. You wanted a relationship. What good do that do for us.?" Brooke asked.
"We built a life and family together. That's everything." Lucas replied.
"A kiss always means something. I thought there was no chance for us. I've been fearing that i was wrong and we wouldn't find our way back together but that kiss. Lucas I need to be honest with you." Brooke stated.
"I don't regret the kiss but i have to make sure you realize. It can't happen again. I'm getting back into the dating world and sending you mixed signals adding un needed confusion isn't fair to anyone." Lucas proclaimed.
Brooke swallowed hard. Her eyes went wide. She had to look away from him and process this. Feeling tears well up in her eyes. She got from where she was seated. Clutched her purse tightly and made her way back inside.
"Brooke don't go." Lucas said. Going after her.
"I'm fine Lucas. I want this night to remain about Nathan and Haley so it's for the best that i leave." Brooke replied.
Lucas let her go. Watching as she left the home in a hurry. He knew there was more to what she was feeling. She could barely look him in the eyes.
...
Brooke breathed a sigh of relief at her empty home. It was unexpected moments like this. Where she was vunerable and raw. Was she grateful to be able to unravel alone.
She changed out of her dress and shoes. Got into the shower scrubbed off the remainder of the night. Changed into her pajamas got into bed and cried.
Knowing he had waited. Put his life on pause in hopes of reuniting with her just for her to keep her walls up higher then she ever had. Keeping him at a safe distance.
Now it was too late. And there was no one to blame.
