VI
Many times I've tried to tell you Don't wanna leave you really We belong to the light Whatever we deny or embrace Close your eyes and try to sleep now We can't begin to know it We belong to the light Whatever we deny or embrace
Many times I've cried alone
Always I'm surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone
I've invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together
Close your eyes and try to dream
Clear your mind and do your best
To try and wash the palette clean
How much we really care
I hear your voice inside me
I see your face everywhere
Still you say
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together
We Belong, Pat Benatar
The next evening, Blair and Jo invited Rose, Charlie, and Monica over for dinner to break the news to them about Blair regaining her memory. The two lovers had talked about Blair's memories of the relationship between her mother and her partner, as well as Monica's part in the scheme to take over Warner International,
"I look at it this way, Joey", Blair said thoughtfully. Now that she had remember "Joey", she couldn't stop saying it, "that was another lifetime. So much has changed since the accident, why bring up the past. I...we", she amended, kissing Jo softly on the cheek, "need to look forward from now on. Life's too precious to worry about the past."
Laying on the couch together, Jo wrapped her arms around Blair. "Yeah, I'd say all our years together has rubbed off on ya, blondie." Jo was laying on top of her lover, bringing her head down for a sweet, loving kiss. David made noise as he was crawling around the floor, when he pulled himself up next to his Mama's. He gabbed at them.
"I think he wants some attention", Blair said with a chuckle.
"Beat it kid", Jo said playfully, tasseling her son's hair, "I'm making out with Mama Blair."
"Jo!" Blair slapped her on the side, both of them laughing as she did, DC joining in.
"Okay, kid", Jo relented, sitting up, David pulling himself up on the couch between them. Jo leaned into him. "You owe me, junior", she said sweetly, DC holding out his arms for a hug and kiss."
"That reminds me", Blair thought, "We aren't just gonna tell our parents tonight about me remembering, but, well, I think we'll need a babysitter one weekend...don't you?" Her eyebrows shot up suggestively.
"Reading my mind, Princess", Jo said. "I don't want the first time to be with David having a chance to interrupt us", she added with a mild blush.
"We do think alike, barbarian", Blair said sweetly, looking at her partner and son. She became somber. "To think I almost lost this", she mused, looking at her family. "You two are my entire life, and I almost..." Blair choked up.
"Almost only counts in horse shoes and atomic bombs, Princess", Jo reminded her gently. You just said it yourself. No looking back from now on. It's you, me, and DC."
With DC on Jo's lap, Blair moved next to her lover, snuggling against her, Jo kissing the top of her head, Blair running a hand through his son's blonde hair.
Jo had taken DC out grocery shopping that afternoon as the two women wanted to cook a special meal for their parents. While they were out, Blair called Dr. Washington to check on some information. Blair left a message on the doctor's voice mail, and within thirty minutes, the doctor had called her back.
"What can I help you with today, Blair?"
"First of all", Blair said with a smile, I need to tell you that I woke up in the middle of the night and that most of my memories have come back."
"Oh, Blair, congratulations! I'm so happy for you and Jo! Seems like those things never happen during broad daylight when you're awake, but in the middle of the night." They both chuckled.
"Thank you, Dr. Washington", Blair said with genuine gratitude. "I do have a question for you? I know two weeks ago you cleared me for normal physical activity. I do plan to work out now, and I just want to know if I should build up my activity?"
"Well, I wouldn't go hiking Mt. Denali, or running a marathon, but your leg is plenty strong for any normal activity. I would suggest, Blair, that the first time, you stay a little...restrained."
"The first time of what?"
Dr. Washington chuckled. "Blair, I know why you're double-checking, and it's okay. It's perfectly normal to want to resume sexual activity. Just go easy on your leg the first few times?"
Blair blushed. "Right."
That night Monica, Charlie, and Rose came over, the girls having cooked a splendid Chicken Marsala in white wine. It was a light meal, but it more than hit the spot for all of them. Of course before and after the meal, all three grandparents took turns doting on David, to the delight of his mothers.
When the table was cleared, the retired to the living room.
"One reason we called you over was that we have some news to share with you, and to ask you a favor in the next week or two", Jo began with a smile on her face.
"Uh-oh", Rose said with an impish grin, "I have a feeling we're about to be shaken down."
Everyone laughed.
"Not at all, mom", Blair said, looking calmly at Rose. "We would never shake you and dad down."
"Well that's good", Rose began to respond, slow on the uptake, "because..." She stopped cold, her eyes showing her understanding. "Blair...you...you called me 'mom'? You haven't done that since..."
"Since I lost my memory", She replied, looking at all three of her parents. "You would be right."
Monica shook her head. "You...you've got your memory back?"
"I have, Mother", Blair beamed proudly.
"Yeah, she chose 3 am to remember, woke me up out of a peaceful sleep."
Led by Monica, the three older adults took turns going to Blair and giving her hugs and kisses, Charlie being the last.
"I'm so happy and excited for both of you", Charlie said, hugging Blair to him, his eyes closed. "I thought we might never hear those words again."
"Thank you, dad", Blair said, melting into the hug. When she broke it, she looked at everyone. "And all of you have been so patient and understanding. I'm so happy that it's returned."
Monica became nervous. "But what...what about..."
Blair walked up to Monica. "Mother, that was in another lifetime-before the accident. We look to the future now, not that past. I love you, Mother, I always will."
Monica gave her a fierce hug. "I love you, too, my sweet girl. More than ever."
When they all sat back down, Charlie looked at his daughters with raised eyebrows. "So what's this favor you need from us?"
A Week Later
Monica would be taking DC all day Friday, spending Friday after noon and evening until about Noon on Saturday with her and Bailey, who always loved to see her nephew. Saturday afternoon, after Monica and Bailey would have lunch with Rose and Charlie, the Polniaczek's would spend the rest of the weekend with their grandson.
It mean that Blair and Jo would have the weekend to themselves, something the desperately needed, especially now that Blair was healthy enough for more physical activity, and because the balance of her memories had returned. Neither could remember anticipating anything like they were this weekend.
Friday around noon, Monica picked up David, Blair and Jo going for a walk in Central Park. It was a beautiful July day-it had been almost a year since that horrific accident, Blair's small limp and occasional headaches the reminders of the event, but on the whole, Blair was as close to one hundred percent as she had been just before the accident.
They didn't plan a fancy dinner for that night, nor go out to The Palm to eat. They ordered Chinese, simply talking, laughing, kissing, and enjoying each other's company. It was what they had had before the accident, yet now it mean so much more, almost having it snuffed out.
It would make that evening even more special.
After finishing dinner, and simply sitting on the couch holding each other and kissing, Blair knew it was time. "It's been such a wonderful day, Jo, but now...now I want us to make love. I want us to rediscover each other tonight and this weekend. I want you with everything I am."
Jo caressed Blair's face. "I love you more than my very life, Blair", she said tenderly, kissing her lips. "Tonight...I wondered if it would ever happen."
"I want you to go into the bedroom, Joey", Blair said softly. "I need to go to the bathroom first, but when I come into the bedroom, you better not be wearing a single thread of clothing."
"I think I can follow those instructions, blondie", Jo answered with a laugh.
Jo did as instructed, stripping then crawling in bed, not bothering to cover her nude form, anxiously awaiting Blair's arrival. The lights in their bedroom could be dimmed, and Jo had put them at about fifty percent brightness.
A light came into the room as Blair opened the door to the bathroom. Jo turned to one side to look at her lover...
She was speechless, Blair standing just inside the doorway, completely naked, a shy smile on her face. Jo rose from the bed and slowly walked over to her until they were almost touching.
Both were already breathing heavy.
Without another word, Jo reached for Blair, bringing their naked bodies together, their arms wrapping around each other, a passionate kiss erupting between them, both of them moaning. They broke after a few moments, looking deep into each others' eyes.
Jo took a half step back to take in Blair's hourglass figure: the large, perfect breasts, with large, hard pink nipples. The thin waist that led down to her shapely hips and ass. "You are the most beautiful, most incredible thing I've ever seen, Blair Warner. Seeing you naked like this...God you're gorgeous."
"You don't look to bad yourself, my barbarian", Blair said with a grin, taking Jo's more athletic build in with her eyes. The breasts that were almost as large as Blair's, but topped with dark nipples, a waist almost as thin, but Jo's hips built more like that of a swimmer or volleyball player, but still incredibly desirable. "I almost feel like it's our first time."
"It is, Princess", Jo whispered, touching Blair's face with her fingertips. "We've been given a second chance. I want to love you all night long."
"Take me to bed, Joey."
