Ace looked down on Lexi and Skunk as the medics applied spray bandages to her superficial gunshot wounds. That was because both ladies were on their knees so the medics could work more easily.

"We didn't need backup," said Lexi.

"Uh-huh," mused Ace, "I don't like having to hear about stuff like this from Zadavia who had to hear about it from the Police."

"We handled it."

"Yeah, I noticed Stoney's broken jaw and Bugsy's... broken jewels."

"I am sorry," said Skunk, "They threatened to shoot Lexi in the head..."

"I can see how that could be... a touchy subject with you..." said Ace softly, "Still, if all of us were here, someone like Tek would have realized that Pink the Pug was around here somewhere too."

"He was?" asked Lexi, "Why didn't he help his... associates?"

"Mall security recorded someone we think was Pink the Pug in disguise breaking into the back door of this place about the time Stoney and Bugsy came in the front. The security in this store was disabled from the outside, but the safe was emptied while you two were taking care of Stoney and Bugsy."

"No!" cried Skunk, "I'm so sorry!"

"It's my fault," said Lexi, "I should have known better."

Skunk glanced at Lexi.

"There's an all points bulletin out for Pink the Pug right now. We think he hasn't gotten out before the security shut down all access points to the Mall."

"Then there's still time to catch him!" replied Lexi.

The medics began applying self-adhering pads to cover the holes in Skunk's uniform.

"No, Zadavia told me to send you two back to base," he replied, "The rest of us will look for Pink."

"I smell some discipline coming," mused Duck as he strolled by.

Ace sighed as he handed two bags and a plastic cup to Lexi. "Oh, and believe your lunch is ready."

Neither Lexi nor Skunk responded as she took the bags and cup.

Tek came by. "Ace," he said, "I'm accessing the Mall computer system now. I should have tapped into Security soon, and I can start tracking Pink's movements before and after the robbery happened."

"I don't think Zadavia is doing this to be mean," said Ace as he leaned closer to the two ladies, "She's just... concerned for your safety... like I am."

"Skunk is going to have to go to hospital before too long," said one of the paramedics.

"What's wrong?" asked Lexi.

"I'm sure I need to have my blood reserve refilled," replied Skunk.

"Blood reserve?" asked Ace.

"Yes, since most of my major bones were replaced, my ability to produce the blood was greatly reduced," she replied, "I have a blood reserve in case of injuries to my skin... like this... It also fuels my brain... or the organic parts of it."

"Well call Zadavia before you leave. I'm sure she most likely won't object to a hospital stop on the way back to base."

Lexi and Skunk nodded.
