"Where would Damon go Katerina?" Klaus growled holding her aggressively against the wall of Alaric's apartment. As he held her there his face changed to match his very much outraged tone. His eyes turned to gold with veins spreading out from his eyes and a set of double canines took form as he bared his teeth at her. "I-I-I- I don't know. I haven't been around him for over a hundred years. He could be anywhere." Klaus shook his head in anger at her before lunging forward and biting her. "Not good enough. You will be dead in less than a day if you do not tell me where you think he could be. Where would he have gone to when he was human Katerina? You will tell me right now or I will make sure your last day will be met with endless suffering." Suddenly the door to the apartment flew open behind him and Klaus didn't even have to look to tell you who it was. "Not a good time brother. Katerina and I are in the middle of a meeting. Do come back later, when we are finished."

Katherine held in a whimper as she was held under Klaus's furious gaze. She wasn't afraid of much but Klaus certainly terrified her. It seemed she only had two options, either she betrayed Damon to Klaus or she died knowing she had bought him time. No matter how little time her death would give him. Looking behind Klaus's shoulder she saw Elijah looking between the two of them. She hadn't been around him for over a hundred years and yet, she could still tell when he was trying to make sense of something. "What meeting would that be Niklaus? I was under the impression you wished for Katerina to live." A laugh shook Klaus's foreboding form at Elijah's words before he fixed her with a chilling glare. "Where?" he growled out at her.

Swallowing thickly Katherine realised the hope she had held that Elijah would save her was pointless. The hope had been that Elijah would save her if only to kill her later on for betraying him. With Elijah Katherine knew she could have at least played on the feelings he had once held for her. There was nothing she could play on when it came to Klaus and that meant selling out Damon was her only chance at survival. If there was one thing she was better at than everyone else, it was surviving no matter the cost. "There was a place in Chicago that his father left for him. I don't know more than that it was on the outskirts of the city though. Somewhere in the woods. Zachariah Lockwood told me about it in 1864 but, it would be falling apart right now. It's more than likely that the place is falling apart by now." Klaus looked as if he was contemplating her words.

Slitting his wrist with a quick and careful movement he forced his blood down her throat. The bite on her neck disappeared as soon as the blood hit her system and left her skin completely unmarred of any damage. "Niklaus?" The question tore Klaus out of his thoughts on Damon and the chances of finding him in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of Chicago. Perhaps he would be there or perhaps Katerina was right and he would find nothing more than an old abandoned refuge. First he would have to deal with Elijah though and boy was he not looking forward to that. At first he was planning to do nothing but dagger his brother and put him with the rest of his siblings. That would not be possible anymore, not with Damon missing and with him having no idea where to find his wayward mate.

He had been thinking about Damon a lot since he had broken his curse and much as he tried to ignore it he couldn't help but feel slightly guilty. Klaus realised he should have probably tried to be kinder to Damon at first. He had been so happy and angry at him when he had seen him first though. When he had found his mate in town he had been elated for now he had someone strong and powerful to stand by his side. Damon was weak and pathetic though with only a hundred and sixty seven years behind him. Those years were nothing compared to his one thousand and forty five years. It made Damon nothing more than a weakness in Klaus's eyes and he would keep him locked up if he had to. Anger surged through him as he thought about how weak Damon was and how much of a liability he was to Klaus himself. The anger quickly overcame the guilt that he had been feeling since the ritual ended. Once Damon was found he would be shown that he had no choice in their bond. Still a small part of Klaus was telling him that continuing to treat Damon the way he did now would do more harm than good. "NIKLAUS?" Klaus turned to meet his brother's concerned gaze, he must have gotten more entranced in his thoughts than he had meant to. "What is going on?" Klaus knew by his tone alone that Elijah would not let this matter drop.

"Katerina here is going to lead me to where the Salvatore boy has gone off to. You are going with us to ensure she does not try to lead me astray." Klaus glanced over at Katherine who had been frozen in place ever since he had healed her. "You said you would reunite me with our family Niklaus. We had a bargain." Klaus looked at Elijah softly wanting nothing more than to put their family together again. "I will as soon as the Salvatore boy is with me again everything will be brought back into order." A bewildered expression crossed Elijah's face but was gone in a split second. "Stefan Salvatore is in town. What use could you possibly have for the boy?" "Not Stefan Salvatore. Damon Salvatore is the one I must have by my side."

Dread suddenly seeped into Elijah's body as he realised that he had told everyone that Niklaus would simply kill Damon. At that moment it had seemed like that would be the only reasoning behind Niklaus's actions. Damon Salvatore could very well be a threat in his own right more so than anyone else in their group. Even the witch was less of a threat than that boy and she had the power of a hundred witches at her back. "What use could you possibly have for Damon Salvatore?" Klaus walked away at the question before turning around and giving Elijah an answer that would certainly leave him more puzzled than not. "You will soon see brother. You will soon see."

Damon's eyes were closed as he listened to the forest coming to life around him. It was the middle of the night and while he normally would be asleep he had far too much to accomplish. As soon as he had gotten the little cottage fixed up Damon had focused on getting answers. Sadly those answers did not come as easily as he hoped they would have. He had discovered shortly after getting to Gloria's that the bite on his neck was gone. For some reason he had not been given any of the horrible baggage that usually came with a werewolf bite. Gloria had told him that even though his wolf was locked away that Klaus's bite should have killed him. The fact that he hadn't died brought more questions to him than answers.

Gloria hadn't known what to make of it either and had told him to simply count his blessings that he had survived the bite. He had let it go while he was staying with her but the question still rang clear through his head even now. Why was he not dead from the bite? Damon had thought that maybe it had to do with the soulmate bond. There was so little information on the subject though that it was a shot in the dark on whether that was true or not. So he was determined to find answers on the subject. Since his grimoire was of little help, he had decided to go to the one place he knew he could find answers. Whether he liked the answers or not was yet to be seen.

The only place he could think of that might have answers would be his ancestors from the Faye line. A spell had been in the grimoire on how to contact them and he was more than ready to try it out. Anticipation curled in his gut as he thought about talking to his father. No matter how briefly they would get to speak it was something he was ready for. At least he hoped he was ready to speak to his father, his grandfather and so many other members of the Faye line in search of answers. The spell had called for the cover of darkness and grimoire of the Faye line to be present for it to work. It would only work if it was a Faye calling to the ancestors and no one else. If someone else were to call for them then the grimoire would burst into inextinguishable flames consuming not only the book but all that surrounded it. He stood up from the forest floor where he had been overlooking a river he had seen in his wanderings earlier that day. Pulling out the grimoire the spell left his lips in a way that spoke of years of experience.

"Sacad las voces del pasado. Permitir que el viento, la luna y los árboles para actuar como una guía para el camino que busco. Ayúdame, me guía y me llevan al conocimiento que requiero." The spell took effect instantly as suddenly it was like the world stopped all around him. If anyone else had been listening they would have heard nothing but to Damon it was all he could hear. The world seemed to light up with voices of people calling out to him and trying to get his attention. "I wish to speak with the one known as Nathaniel Faye." His voice held strong even as he made his request to his ancestors. Determination coursed through him at the thought of finally being able to talk to his father. The same father whose blood ran through his veins and from his letter was nothing like Giuseppe Salvatore. Where Giuseppe was cold, calculating and some may even say heartless. Always taking his anger out on Damon and ridiculing him for the simplest of things. Nathaniel seemed like he would have been the type of father who would have cared for him, guided him and encouraged him no matter the issue that presented itself. He seemed like he would have done anything in his power to help his son, no matter the cost.

Damon was suddenly broken out of his musings by one of the voices around him. That is impossible son. I am truly sorry. Perhaps one day you may speak with him but not today. He swallowed thickly against the anger threatening to overwhelm him at the words spoken. "Why not? What could possibly keep him from speaking to me?" As quick as the anger had come was as quick as it left at the next words told to him. I am truly sorry young Faye but your Father is not here. No one has heard from him in over a hundred and sixty four years. The last anyone spoke to him was shortly after your birth.

"If he's not here, then where is he?" The question was met with complete silence as his ancestors allowed for the spell to stop. Leaving him with more questions than he had started out with. He had gone looking for answers and instead had been left with a bigger mystery to unravel.
