A/N Hey guys, I'm back for another chapter and now Slytunkhamen/Peter will have to face the next challenge in his current life, which is parenthood so I wonder if he will have his child be a thief like him, now let's find out.
It had been a few weeks since Heba and I confessed our feelings for each other and had sex, now she had moved into my home while we were basically married now as there was a small ceremony with my parents and few friends showing up to congratulate us after receiving the news, then it was over and everyone left before Heba got settled in until things got interesting later.
It was not until two weeks later that Heba told me that she was pregnant and I was thrilled that I would be a father again, only this time I would raise our child but then I thought about my life as a thief and it made me wonder if I could keep doing it now that I was in love with someone and had a child on the way.
It was those thoughts that kept running through my mind as the past few weeks went by and I was hesitant at the idea of telling Heba about what kind of man I really was, though I must've shown that I was distant since Heba started looking at me with an expression of worry whenever she thinks I wouldn't notice until I was awake one night and staring out the window to watch the night sky, then I felt a pair of arms wrap around my torso and looked to see Heba holding me close while resting her chin on my shoulder.
"(My love, why don't you come back to bed?)" Heba suggested and I smiled gently at her.
"(Forgive me, I've been merely enjoying the stars since it is a beautiful night, but not as beautiful as you,)" I complimented and Heba chuckled with a blush on her face.
"(You always were such a charmer, Slytunkhamen,)" Heba remarked, causing me to smirk as I carefully removed her arms from my torso and turned around with a mischievous glint in my eyes as I placed my hands on her waist.
"(That is one of many reasons why you became fond of me,)" I countered playfully, causing Heba to grin.
"(Indeed,)" Heba agreed before we leaned forward to kiss.
I pulled Heba against my chest and she wrapped her arms around my neck as we explored each other's mouths, enjoying the tender moment for a short time until we regretfully separated and I gently stroked her cheek with my thumb while Heba started looking concerned.
"(My love, you've been lost in thought recently and I am most worried that something is amiss, so what is troubling you?)" Heba inquired as she placed her hand on my jaw, causing me to stop smiling and I sighed as I looked guilty.
"(Forgive me for being distant, my mind has been deep in thought and it has been weary on my heart...Heba, I haven't been exactly truthful to you ever since we first met," I admitted hesitantly, deciding to tell her about how I was a thief as Heba looked confused and worried.
"(Slytunkhamen, what do you mean by that?)" Heba asked as I looked away from her.
"(I've once told you that me and mother were living a life of servitude, that I freed us from that life by purchasing our freedom but what I didn't tell you is how I accomplished that,)" I said as I let go of Heba, walking over to a wall near the bed before I knelt down to remove a loose part and reached into the secret space to pull out the Thievius Raccoonus until I stood up and went to hand her the book.
"(My love, what is this?)" Heba asked as she held the book and gazed down at it with a puzzled look.
"(What is in that tome shall answer your questions,)" I replied as I handed her the key, prompting her to head over to the bed so that she could sit down and unlock the strap keeping the book closed.
Heba unlocked the strap and opened the book before proceeding to read through it, her eyes widening as she looked at the pages I had written down about my accomplishments as a thief and skills I developed until Heba looked up once she was finished reading.
"(Slytunkhamen, I do not understand...)" Heba trailed off while I grimaced.
"(What you are seeing in that tome is real...I am a thief and have been since I was but a mere child,)" I confessed and Heba gasped in shock as she placed the book down beside her.
"(But why?)" Heba inquired, then I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling with my eyes misting over while I remembered what my mother and I went through.
"(Because I had grown tired, seeing the wealthy lord their riches over us and making mother suffer in a life of servitude, which was why I couldn't stand such outrage anymore and decided to punish the wicked by robbing them of their wealth.
My love, I am confessing to you now because I want there to be no secrets between us now that our child will soon come into this world, but I will understand if you were to leave me because of my deceit,)" I explained and avoided eye contact with Heba as I prepared for her to be angry as she stood up and walked over to me until I was surprised when she placed her hand on my jaw.
"(Slytunkhamen, just because you are a thief, does not mean you're not the same man I love and telling me this part of your life proves that you trust me enough to reveal this to me so I'll always love you, even if you're a thief,)" Heba reassured, causing me to tear up in relief as I smiled warmly.
"(Heba, the gods have blessed me with such a kind and beautiful woman, so a thousand thank-yous for being so understanding,)" I said joyfully, then we gave each other a peck before Heba headed over to the bed.
"(Come, let us sleep,)" Heba told me, then I put the Thievius Raccoonus back in its hiding spot and went to bed before Heba and I cuddled as I fell asleep.
After that, the months had gone by with Heba looking more and more pregnant while I turned thirty until one day, I had come home to find Heba resting on a chair and letting out groans of pain before I hurried over to check on her, seeing a clear puddle of liquid on the floor and it alarmed me since I understood that her water broke and I didn't know what to do.
"(By the gods, what do I do?)" I gasped and Heba looked up at me with a grimace.
"(F-Find Abasi...)" Heba wheezed in pain, prompting me to hurry out of the house and quickly show up at Abasi's shop while the older jackal looked startled to see me burst in suddenly.
"(My friend, what has alarmed you so?)" Abasi inquired and I sent him a frantic look.
"(Abasi, it's time,)" I said quickly, then Abasi widened his eyes as he seemed to understand what I was saying.
"(O-Of course, I shall bring help while you tend to Heba!)" Abasi declared as we both bolted out of the shop, going our separate ways and I returned home to make sure Heba was alright.
"(Do not worry, my love, Abasi shall be bringing help soon so stay still,)" I assured once I made it to Heba's side, then I found myself reassuring her to keep her calm as a few minutes have gone by until Abasi and one of the city's midwives showed up.
"(My friend, we're here,)" Abasi told me as the midwife hurried over with a dish of hot water that had steam coming from it and two clean cloths, placing the dish under the chair and checking Heba for any problems until the female hyena looked at us.
"(It is too dangerous to move her now, so she must have the child here,)" the midwife told us, causing me to bite my lip in worry as I wondered what to do.
"(Very well, what shall be done?)" I inquired anxiously and the midwife looked at me.
"(You must keep her calm until the head begins to show, then we'll have her push as hard as she can so the child can exit without complications,)" the midwife instructed, causing me to nod as I moved over until I was right beside Heba and holding her hand.
Pretty soon, I kept Heba calm so the contractions can do their work until the head started to show, then we had Heba push as hard as she could while she screamed in agony until the baby raccoon fully left the womb and started crying while the midwife unfolded one of the cloths to reveal a knife before she went and used it to cut the umbilical cord.
"(It is a boy,)" the midwife informed us while she gently wiped the fluids off my newborn son and wrapped him up with the second cloth, carefully handing him to Heba while she teared up and I let out a breathless laugh.
"(A son, my love...we have a son,)" Heba said tiredly with a weak smile as I gazed at my son that was being rocked to sleep by Heba.
"(He has his father's looks,)" I whispered joyfully.
"(What shall we call him?)" Abasi inquired quietly and I thought about what kind of name my son should have, then one came to me and I grinned.
"(He shall inherit my name, Slytunkhamen, one that fits him indeed,)" I stated proudly in a quiet tone of voice and Abasi smiled.
"(Slytunkhamen the Second, I like it so what do you think, Heba?)" Abasi inquired and Heba nodded.
"(It is perfect, Abasi,)" Heba agreed as I stared down at my son, knowing that he's going to do great things in life as the rest of the day went by so Heba could recover.
It had been a few years since my son was born and it was a challenge raising him because of how crafty he was, but I adapted as my son was now eight years old and currently avoiding me after he swiped my coin pouch and I searched for him with a gleam in my eyes.
"(Now, where is that cunning child of mine?)" I wondered while pretending to look thoughtful, hearing Slytunkhamen quietly giggling nearby as I grinned and made it sound like I left the room by moving in one place and slowly stopping before quickly hiding.
I could see Slytunkhamen carefully peering out from under the table and slowly crawled out once he didn't spot me, then I snuck up from behind him and suddenly picked him up before a startled yelp left his mouth while I turned him around so that he could see me, his eyes widening at the knowledge that I caught him as I looked amused.
"(That was a nice effort, my child, but you'll have to do better than that if you wish to escape me,)" I remarked with a smirk, causing Slytunkhamen to appear embarrassed as I put him down and held out my hand before it prompted my son to hand back the coin pouch.
"(Forgive me, father,)" Slytunkhamen muttered sheepishly and I smiled down at him.
"(Come now, I'm not upset since you did surprise me at first so that's impressive,)" I reassured, causing Slytunkhamen to smile just as Heba entered the room.
"(I do hope you are not encouraging him to keep doing such mischief,)" Heba said with a knowing look and I took up a wounded expression.
"(My love, I would never corrupt our child to take on such bad habits!)" I exclaimed dramatically with a hand on my chest, causing Slytunkhamen to giggle while Heba smirked.
"(I am just playing with you, my love, now I believe it's time for our child to learn what you do when you're not working at Abasi's shop,)" Heba suggested, causing me to nod as I gently placed a hand on my son's shoulder and guided him to me and Heba's room as Slytunkhamen looked confused.
"(Father, what is she talking about?)" Slytunkhamen inquired in confusion as I had him sit on the bed.
"(My boy, there is something me and your mother have been withholding from you, but now we believe you are old enough to know this so wait here,)" I said as I went to get the Thievius Raccoonus from its hiding place and handed it to my son, who stared down at the book with a puzzled look and I gave him the key.
"(Father, what is this tome that you have given me?)" Slytunkhamen asked, only I gestured for him to open it and he unlocked the strap before opening the book.
My son read through my only section of the Thievius Raccoonus that described all of my accomplishments throughout my life and the skills I had developed, causing Slytunkhamen to widen his eyes in astonishment from the pages that showed how many pharaohs and noblemen I stole from, as well as the invisibility technique I had written down with instructions on how to use it until Slytunkhamen closed the book and looked up at me with amazement.
"(Father, this is amazing,)" Slytunkhamen told me and I smiled.
"(And it is yours to learn from if you wish, though I doubt your mother would be pleased if I taught you to be a thief like me but, if you do wish to follow in my footsteps, then all you have to do is ask and there's one more thing I wish to show you,)" I replied as I took the book from Slytunkhamen so that I could put it away in its usual hiding place, then I went to kneel down so that I could remove the loose flooring where a small chest laid inside.
I brought the chest over to the bed and placed it down between me and Slytunkhamen while I opened it, causing my son to widen his eyes at my headdress, fake beard, and two canes as I removed the canes from the chest and showed them to Slytunkhamen.
"(I once made these to assist me during my life as a thief, and they are yours once you're old enough, so take them and see how they feel in your hands,)" I told Slytunkhamen, who slowly took the canes and held them in his hands as he marveled how light they are until he handed them back to me and I placed them back in the chest.
"(Father, they feel...)" Slytunkhamen trailed off and I smirked while I placed the chest back in its hiding place.
"(Different? As I have said, they are yours once you are old enough, now come along since your mother is waiting for us,)" I replied as we left the bedroom and went to meet up with Heba.
After that, my son approached me a week later to tell me that he wanted to follow in my footsteps and the pride I felt for him at that moment is something I would never forget as I agreed and began teaching him everything I knew, starting off with the basics like pickpocketing or how to blend into the shadows to avoid being seen as he easily took to it, much to my surprise.
As the years went by, I taught Slytunkhamen most of the skills I had learned like the power of invisibility while my son grew to become a kind young man, now he was fifteen and I had handed him the canes while declaring that they're his now since it was time for me to retire and for him to take up the mantle of being a thief because I wasn't as young as I used to be and starting to get slower, but what made me retire was that Abasi got sick and passed away not long after.
Losing my old friend got me to realize that I wouldn't be around forever, so I decided to settle down and spend the rest of my current life with Heba as I was now out shopping and purchasing food before I started heading back home, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched for the past few weeks and it unnerved me while I took a shortcut through an alley until I heard a pair of wings right behind me and turned around to see a giant owl made completely out of metal with eerie yellow eyes as it swooped down with its talons aimed at me.
I couldn't react in time and found everything spinning before I landed on the ground harshly, but something was wrong when I rolled to a stop and saw a headless body just collapse while dropping a basket full of food before it took me a second to realize that it was my body while my vision dimmed and everything went black.
The next thing I knew, I found myself standing in front of my house while letting out a sharp inhale of panic as I quickly looked around before I managed to calm down, then my ears perked up when I heard a faint sobbing coming from inside the house and entered to find Heba sitting at the table and crying her eyes out until she looked up at me.
"(Oh, my child, it's awful...I was visited by the city guard and they told me that...they found your father dead near the marketplace! My love is gone, he's gone!" Heba wailed in anguish as she resumed sobbing, then I froze as I remembered my life as Slytunkhamen the Second and started tearing up.
I slumped to the floor and broke out sobbing as the emotions suddenly flooded through me while I understood what my future incarnation Sly Cooper meant when he said that it would be a hard road for me, and chances are that metal owl is the same flesh and blood one who killed me twice in the prehistoric era since I could just feel the hatred coming off the metal one that just killed me, then I managed to calm down and stood up until I walked over to my new mother so that I could comfort her.
A/N I'm finally done with this chapter and those who are confused, Peter also finds himself reborn in someone who's already living after getting killed but he lived the life of that person for an unknown amount of time until he suddenly remembers his past life and those who are unfamiliar with the Sly Cooper franchise, the metal owl that just killed Peter is the same one who killed him twice in the prehistoric era and he had replaced his flesh and blood body with the metal one after finding the advanced tech from Grizz's base of operations and Le Paradox's crashed blimp.
Anyway, Peter finding himself reincarnated in a living member of the Cooper clan is going to happen across history right up to the night where Conner Cooper gets killed and his spirit is reborn into the body of Sly, who was eight years old at the time so the next chapter is going to show Peter/Slytunkhamen the Second finding Kaine Island ten years later and creating the Cooper Vault to store his accomplishments in it but I just want to inform you guys that I recently bought the game Subnautica on Playstation Store so I'm going to be busy for a while before another chapter comes out.
Well, let me know what you think and stay tuned.
