"What are you thinkin' about this time, cyw?" Elen asked as she brought Kolya into in her arms, hearing the brunette sigh for the third time in a few minutes.

"Just... Just that iss May and I still haven't confirmed my place anywhere yet."

Scooting into the plush armchair opposite her, she watched Jo blink her bleary brown eyes at her.

"You've until thirty-first July," Elen said calmly. "We have more than enough time to sort out what's troublin' you."

Jo rubbed her face with a warm hand, exhaling deeply. "What if Hogwarts's not for me, mam?" She asked quietly. "Even after the improvements Professor McGonagall an' Professor Dumbledore have done?"

"Then you transfer to Ilvermorny," Elen replied matter-of-factly. "I changed high schools three times. You shouldn't be restricted by your postcode."

Jo barked a short laugh, her elbows digging into the cushions as she pushed herself up.

"Postcode," she parroted. "Ilvermorny's in North America, mam."

"Your mam graduated from the University College of Sheffield," Elen gazed at her pointedly. "It might not be as far as France or North America but we both know full well you are more than a capable of studying so far away for so long."

"...Alright," Jo huffed. "I'll write my confirmation after a short nap."

Along with what she was truly thinking.

Dear Professor McGonagall,

I hope this letter finds you well. While I have decided to confirm my attendance at Hogwarts, it also struck me Muggle-born or Muggle-raised magicals are not checked upon prior to receiving their Hogwarts acceptance letter.

I am certain you are aware of the squalor and neglect a considerable portion of children are subject to in mundane Britain, particularly the homeless. It would be incredibly relieving if someone were to check their living conditions ahead of delivering their letters, also if some sort of support could be offered to them during the summer holidays and for the transportation to and back from Diagon Alley and King's Cross Station.

I also believe it is important to note mundane Britain is currently undergoing a recession and that families of Muggle-borns in later years are most likely already experiencing financial difficulties.

Yours sincerely,

Josephine A. Bevan

P.S. I profusely apologise for my untidy penmanship in this letter. Nikolay is asleep on my arms and I cannot bear to wake him.
