Adora squinted an eye open from under her covers. The sun was shining brightly through the windows and squarely onto her face. She grumbled in annoyance and tried to turn over but found something blocking her. She opened her eyes fully and realized two things, she was on a couch that wasn't hers and she was supposed to be at work by 8am. She looked at her watch, it read 9:10. She gasped and sat up.

"Hey hey," Bow's voice carried from the kitchen and she heard him run into the room just as she laid back down. "Oh, my head," Adora mumbled, as her head hit the pillow.

"I called Angella," Bow said.

"You what?!"

"Listen, you need today. Don't fight me, just take the damn day off," Bow said sternly. Adora groaned and turned away from him, covering her face from the light.

"But what if.."

"They're fineee. Glimmer and Angella will be there all day. They don't need you."

"But."

"Adora!"

"Finee," Adora answered, pulling the covers back over herself but knowing she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. She peered over at Bow. He was looking at her with concern.

"What?"

"How do I help?" Bow asked innocently.

"...Coffee?" Adora asked, raising her eyebrows. Bow smiled and nodded. Ten minutes later, they were both sipping on their respective drinks and sitting in the sunshine on Bow's porch. Adora attempted to comb through her hair and they were both giggling, watching her attempt it.

"No why... is it sticky," Adora giggled, pulling at a massive knot. Bow smiled at her and she gave him a thankful smile.

When Bow had picked her up last night, there were no questions asked. Adora had texted Angella that she was spending the night at Bow's and had gratefully accepted some fresh clothes from Bow and a bed on the couch. She was wearing a white crop top sweatshirt that looked like Bow had cut up himself, and a pair of comfy baggy sweatpants that Adora was pretty sure were actually her pants left here years ago.

"So, can I ask?"

Adora sighed. The memories of last night came flooding back to her and an emotional wave hit her in the chest. "I fucked up," She said at last, curling her bare feet up on the chair and wrapping her arms around her knees, still holding her cup of coffee.

"You had every right to be upset. I should have stood up for you and told Catra not to play it. You know, I don't know if Scorpia even knows that song was about you. It was just a good song with a good beat and.. I chickened out. I'm sorry."

Adora shook her head, "If Scorpia didn't know before, she certainly knows now."

"What?"

"I practically yelled it at her. Well, I yelled it at Catra. Turned out, Scorpia was right there the whole time."

Bow gasped. "Oh no."

Adora put her coffee down so she could rub her face in her hands, she groaned into her hands. "I brought up our last night."

Bow just stared at her for a moment and then moved closer, wrapping his arms around her. Adora felt herself relax. "It's going to be okay."

"I was so angry."

"I know"

"But now Scorpia knows," Adora said, wrapping her arms back up around her legs so she looked like a ball. Bow shrugged. Adora eyed him, questioningly.

"Adora," Bow explained, "I know you feel bad but this isn't because of you. She would've found out eventually and if she didn't than that's on Catra for keeping secrets. It's okay."

Adora smiled at him, allowing herself to unravel a little from her ball form. They sat quietly for a awhile, both seemingly lost in their own respective worlds. Adora managed to order them lunch around noon and then the pair sat cross legged on the floor of Bow's living room playing cards. Glimmer stopped by during her lunch break and dropped off homemade cookies she had made the night before, which Adora found to die for. Glimmer, like Bow, didn't ask but just responded by giving Adora a big hug and telling her if she needs a day off, they should hire someone else so Glimmer can take it off with her. Adora wholeheartedly agreed.

By 4 pm, Adora was feeling much better, and was spending her time cleaning Bow's apartment while he practiced his drum set. Both jumped when the doorbell rang. Adora listened from the kitchen while Bow answered the door and almost dropped a plate when she heard him speak.

"Hey Catra," Bow said, louder than normal from the front door.

"Hey Bow."

Adora froze. She thought briefly about all the ways she could escape this place without being seen. She wondered if a second-floor apartment with one exit was the best place for her to hide out and made a mental note to once again find her own place.

She heard footsteps approaching and whipped around to find Catra standing in the kitchen doorway, staring at her. She promtply dropped the dish she was holding and they both watched it fall to the floor and smash into a million pieces. Catra looked at her horrified.

"Oh jeez. Oh no," Adora grabbed the broom and swept everything up while Catra watched her.

"Uhhh, so. Hey Catra," Adora said, looking at her in what she hoped wasn't terror. Catra raised her eyebrows at her.

"Hey Adora," Catra responded, cooly. Adora wondered if Catra would kill her slowly or get it over quick. On second glance though, Adora could see Catra was not looking well. Her eyes were red rimmed and puffy like she had been crying, and her hair looked just as matted and messy as Adora's. She was dressed head to toe in a baggy gray sweatsuit that had makeup wiped over the collar. They looked each other over and Adora held her breath, waiting. Catra's brows furrowed, but then she started to laugh. A big hearty filled laugh that Adora couldn't help but add too. She started to giggle.

"You look dreadful," Catra cackled, when she caught her breath. Adora looked at the mess she made and nodded in agreement.

"Still better than you." They both laughed even louder. Bow ran in, wondering what was going on and, upon arrival, looked at them like they were crazy.

"What is wrong with you two," He said, shaking his head.

Adora and Catra stopped for a moment to look at him and then kept giggling, holding their sides. At some point, Adora found that tears were streaming down her face and she wasn't sure what they were for. Catra was rubbing at her own eyes, giving her a look of genuine concern.

"I broke a dish," Adora said between gasps of air.

"Mhm," Bow said, shaking his head at the pair of them. There was a silence that swept the group when suddenly Catra turned to Bow and asked for a minute alone with Adora. Adora felt her heart sink. Bow looked to Adora for approval and she nodded. He gave a curt nod and disappeared down the hall to "grab something".

Catra took a moment to look over Adora, sniffling quietly to herself. Adora waited, wondering if Catra would kill her now. Adora waited and saw Catra struggle to speak so she started, "Listen, I am so.."

"No," Catra stepped toward Adora who stopped talking. Catra continued to close the gap between them and placed a sharp fingernail to Adora's lips. Adora inhaled sharply.

"I'm... " Catra started. Adora's eyes bugged. "Sorry."

Surprise filled Adora. Of all the things she had expected Catra to say, "sorry" was not one of them.

"What?" Adora asked, just in case her ears had deceived her.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that the only successful songs I can write are about you. I wrote one and it was the best song I had ever written. Then I just kept digging and digging looking for inspiration and I didn't think about what it meant for you," Catra said, looking directly into Adora's eyes, "I'm sorry... about that night. I'm sorry that I said... what I said," Catra looked to the floor and blushed, "But I do want to try. I want to be friends. So please, accept my apology." Catra stuck out her hand for Adora to shake.

Adora felt a different emotion tugging on her. One she hadn't been expecting. An end to the open question Catra had left on the table for so long. A chance to completely forget the "I love you" that had slipped out of Catra's mouth all those years ago. "Catra I'm not upset about what you said to me," Adora managed to say.

"Adora," Catra said, "It's fine. It's water under the bridge. Let me apologize." Her hand was still outstretched toward her and Catra nodded at it, confirming for Adora to take it. Adora hesitated but took it, giving Catra a small smile.

"Friends?" Catra asked.

"Friends," Adora said, "But... what about Scorpia?" Adora knew instantly that she had said the wrong thing. Catra's smile faded and her jaw tightened. She pulled her hand back in to herself.

"Oh," She said, chewing on her lip and crossing her arms, "We broke up."
