Birthday Wish
A month has passed since the Moonlight Formal. Much to the annoyance of Danny, Dash has finally recovered from his poison ivy rash. The ghost boy was tempted to give it to him again, but remembers that the janitors safely and humanely killed the plants. So the chances of him giving the bully a second round of poison ivy was shot down.
It was a typical Sunday in Amity Park. At the Nasty Burger, Mariko was on the phone with Danny as she was sitting at a table.
"Yes Daniel-san, my cousins are here and they want to meet you." she says through her phone
The Japanese girl was silent for a minute before she said with a smile
"I'll be waiting for you."
After bidding a temporary farewell, Mariko hangs up before she sees two teenagers approaching. One was a tall Japanese boy who had a muscular build with slicked back black hair, hazel eyes, in a white t-shirt and dark blue jeans. The other was a girl who had shoulder-lengtth black hair with blue streaks, green eyes, and wore a periwinkle blouse with black pants. They were approaching Mariko while one of them had a tray with food before taking their seat.
"Hikaru, Satoshi. Dekite yokatta." she says while hugging the teens
(Translation: Hikaru, Satoshi. Glad you made it.)
"Mochiron." the girl named Hikaru said
(Translation: Of course.)
"Itoko no tanjobi o nogashite imasen." the boy named Satoshi said
(Translation: I'm not missing my cousin's birthday.)
Then, Satoshi picks up his hamburger in curiosity before he asks
"Naze kono basho wa yakkaina bāgā to yoba reru nodesu ka?"
(Translation: Why is this place called the Nasty Burger?)
Mariko shrugs before she said
"Namae nimokakawarazu, sore wa kanari yoidesu."
(Translation: Despite the name, it's quite good.)
Satoshi took a bite to try it out. After chewing it slowly before swallowing, the boy found it quite delicious. Suddenly, he starts scarfing it down, along with the fries before he drinks the soda that he ordered. Once he was done, he used a napkin to clean his mouth while Mariko could only shake her head slowly, seeing her cousin eat that way.
"Sore de, kono danī fenton wa itsu tochaku suru koto ni natte imasu ka?" Hikaru asked before drinking her soda
(Translation: So, when is this Danny Fenton supposed to arrive?)
"E e kareshi no Mariko-san ni o ai dekiru no o tanoshimini shite imashita." Satoshi adds
(Translation: Yeah. I've been forward to meeting your boyfriend, Mariko.)
Mariko holds up her hands with a blush as she said
"Min'na, kare wa watashi ga tamatama sukina tomodachidesu."
(Translation: Guys, he's a friend who I happen to like.)
"Anata no sekimen wa sode wa nai to iimasu." Hikaru says teasingly
(Translation: Your blush says otherwise.)
Suddenly, before anyone could say another word, a tomato was launched as it hit Satoshi in the face. Then, they hear an obnoxious teen laughing, one that only Mariko was familiar with
"Ha ha! In your face, Fen-toid!"
However, Dash hears a voice from behind
"Uh...Dash? Who are you talking to?"
To his horror, Dash turns around to see Danny standing near the Nasty Burger entrance with Tucker. Meanwhile, Satoshi was talking to Mariko after wiping the tomato off his face
"Ano kinpatsu no otoko wa danī janaidesu yo ne?"
(Translation: That blonde guy isn't Danny, is it?)
"Īe, sore wa watashi ga anata ni hanashita ijimekkodesu." Mariko replies with an annoyed glare
(Translation: No. It's the bully I told you about.)
"U~ejjī o ataeru no ga sukinahito?" Hikaru asked while glaring at Dash
(Translation: The one who likes giving wedgies?)
Mariko nods in response. Then, she sees Satoshi get a certain look on his face. Knowing what it meant, Mariko simply says with a mischievous smirk
"Yare."
(Translation: Do it.)
All the while, Dash was horrified as he points at Danny as he said
"If you just got here, then...!"
Suddenly, Dash felt someone tap his shoulder. Turning around, he looks up to see an angry Satoshi staring down at him.
"My cousin told me you like giving wedgies." He grabs Dash by the shirt "Let's see how you like getting a few."
Satoshi drags a struggling Dash out of the restaurant and towards a flag pole
"No, please!" Dash begs. "It was an accident, I swear!"
Satoshi grabs Dash before he gives the blonde jock a wedgie.
"Here's the classic wedgie." the Japanese boy said with no remorse
Dash cried out in agony before Satoshi turned him around and gives him another wedgie, this time from the front
"The reverse wedgie." he comments
Dash cried out in agony again, before Satoshi repositioned his victim and said
"Time to go for a spin with the all around wedgie."
"No! Not that, please!" Dash begged
His pleads are ignored as Satoshi grabbed Dash's underwear from the back and spins him around as the cloth began to stretch. Dash begged and pleaded for mercy as he was spun around by the larger Japanese boy.
All the while, Danny and Tucker were laughing at the bully's agonizing misfortune. Then, Satoshi stopped spinning Dash as the blonde jock felt dizzy. However, the Japanese boy wasn't finished yet as he got ready to give Dash another wedgie.
"Here's my personal favorite."
Dash was sweating bullets as he looked at his assailant with fear clearly seen
"Atomic wedgie!"
Satoshi pulled the underwear so hard, Dash screamed in agonizing discomfort before the Japanese boy pushed the jock onto the ground.
"Oh...my butt..." Dash groaned in agony
As he got up, there was a bunch of teens laughing and pointing at him. Dash looks back to see his underwear now stretched 10 times its original size.
"Now get lost!" Satoshi barked
Dash runs away as his underwear waved like a flag in the wind as teens continued laughing at the retreating jock. Danny and Tucker calmed down as they saw Sam approaching
"What did I miss?" she asks
"Only Dash getting a taste of his own medicine." Tucker replies
Then, Danny hears a familiar voice behind him.
"Daniel-san!"
Turning around, Danny sees the girl he was always happy to see.
"Mariko!"
Sam rolls her eyes, seeing the two hug again. Once it ended, Mariko said to Danny.
"There's someone I want you to meet."
Mariko points at the individual behind Danny with her eyes. The ghost boy turns around to see the very same Japanese boy who tormented Dash. He was as tall as his father to say the least which made him a bit nervous.
"Um...hi." Danny greets, trying to be friendly
"What's up." Satoshi greets with a smile.
Danny proceeds to shake hands with Satoshi as Mariko said to Danny
"This is my cousin, Satoshi."
Then, she proceeds to speak to Satoshi in Japanese.
"Danīdesu."
(Translation: This is Danny.)
"Ah. So you're the boy who my cousin met. Nice to finally meet you." Satoshi said in a friendly tone
"You too Satoshi." Danny replies.
Tucker sees Hikaru. He quickly applies his breath spray before he tries charming the Japanese girl
"Hello there, cutie." Tucker says, attempting to be suave
Danny groaned as he facepalmed
"I was wondering..."
However, Tucker tripped over a rock that was on the ground before he falls face first. Sam lowered her eyes in annoyance, seeing her friend being a klutz again. Hikaru giggled at the African boy's attempt to charm her
"Ow." Tucker moaned. "Why does this happen to me?"
Hikaru helps Tucker up as she asks him
"Are you okay?"
"I'll be all right." Tucker says. "Thanks to you."
"Barf!" Sam says in disgust while pointing to her mouth.
Then, Mariko remembers something as she said
"Oh! I almost forgot!"
The Japanese girl reached into the inner pocket of her bomber jacket and pulls out three envelopes.
"I want to give you and your friends invitations to my fifteenth birthday that is this Friday."
Mariko proceeds to give one to Danny. She gives one to Tucker, who gratefully accepts it. However, when Mariko hands the last invite to Sam, the goth girl was reluctant in accepting it.
"I don't know." Sam said with hesitation. "I mean..."
"Oh come on, Sam! Nobody invites us to any kind of parties!" Danny whines.
"And I'm not going if you're not going!" Tucker said to the goth girl.
Sam was still skeptical about the invitation before Danny and Tucker begged simultaneously
"Pretty please with those dark licorice sprinkles and the black frosting you like with those little gummy bats on top?!"
Sam gave in as she said in annoyance
"Okay, fine! I'll go!"
"Thank you, Sam." Mariko said in gratitude as she gave Sam the last envelope with the invitation inside it.
"So, where is your birthday taking place?" Tucker asks
"Oh. It's taking place at my house." Mariko replies. "Daniel-san knows where it is."
"I'm guessing your cousins got their invites as well." Danny said
Mariko nods before she said
"They have a week off from school in Tokyo. So they came here."
"Sweet!" Tucker shouts.
Three days have passed and now it was Wednesday at Casper High as the halls were buzzing with activity. However, in one area, Dash and the jocks were surrounding a nerdy teen
"Come on, guys! Stop it!" the teen begs
"Sorry. You didn't pay the tab, so you're getting a wedgie." Dash said remorselessly
While they were busy tormenting the unfortunate student, the jocks were unaware that someone was taking photos to use as evidence against them. The witness slipped away unnoticed after taking one last photo of Dash taking the teen's lunch money.
In class, Mr. Lancer was teaching about shooting stars
"Thousands of meteors will be visible over Amity Park this Friday." Mr. Lancer explains as he demonstrates a rock over the globe.
"People tend to wish upon these "falling stars" without even realizing that at the speeds they're falling...THEY COULD DRILL INTO YOUR TINY SKULLS LIKE THEY WERE WET TOILET PAPER!"
The class stares at Mr. Lancer blankly while Sam proceeds to draw on a blank piece of paper, uninterested in the class. However, Paulina says
"Papa says the stars are falling on my birthday, just for me. And I'm going to wish to meet the ghost boy. If one of those stars are falling towards me, then the ghost boy will save me!"
Mariko rolls her eyes in annoyance and was tempted to give the Latina girl a reality check, but chose to hold her tongue as she focused on a certain blonde jock's movements.
"You know what I'd wish for?" Dash says before he flexes. "Extra arms to catch more footballs" he shifts his focus on Danny "and to wail on you, Fen-ton."
However, Danny punched Danny on the arm
"But that doesn't technically count as a wish, because I can do it anytime, like just now."
Dash didn't realize that he just incriminated himself as Mariko subtly got the video recording on her smartphone before she pockets her device.
Class was dismissed as the students were going to their respective lockers. However, as Danny closed his locker door, he hears a female voice calling to him; one that didn't belong to Mariko at all. Turning around, he sees Paulina approaching him with some papers in her hands.
"What are you doing here, Paulina?" he asks curiously
"Well Danny, you never told me whether or not you're coming to my quinceañera on Friday." Paulina replies while holding up one of the papers
"Well one: I thought you were joking about inviting me." Danny replies. "And two: I'm going with Sam and Tucker to Mariko's fifteenth birthday on Friday."
Paulina was shocked that Mariko has a birthday on the same day that she does. Then, she asks him
"Can't you tell her that you got booked at the last minute or something?"
"Sorry, but I promised Mariko that I'm going to her party." Danny said. "Besides, she genuinely wanted to invite me and my friends."
Paulina was silent before she asked
"Can you at least give this to the ghost boy if you see him?"
"Well, I'm not sure if I'll be able to see him." Danny said hesitantly. "Sorry."
Danny proceeds to walk away, leaving a shocked Latina girl in the hallway before she walks on.
It was nearing the end of the school day as everyone had an early dismissal for parent-teacher conference. Mariko had more than enough evidence in photos and video recordings against all members of the A-Listers. It was her secret mission to stop them. However, she needed one last piece of evidence to put an end to their supposed "reign". Looking around, she locks onto the very target that possessed the last piece she needs. Putting on a fake smile, the Japanese girl approaches Paulina as she closed her locker door.
"Say Paulina...?"
The Latina girl looks to see Mariko walking up to her before she narrowed her eyes and said
"What do you want?"
"Look. I just want to talk." Mariko says in a reasoning voice
Paulina rose an eyebrow before Mariko proceeds
"Listen. I've been thinking about what happened last time and how we got off on the wrong foot when we met."
The Latina girl listened with intent as the Japanese girl continued
"I want to say that I'm sorry for everything I've said." Mariko said. "You should know that I've reconsidered your offer in joining the A-Listers, if you still want me to join?"
Suddenly, Paulina smiled with glee before she quickly pulled out the membership cards of the "cool kid" package from her backpack.
"Here! I've been waiting for you to reconsider!" Paulina says with excitement.
"However, can we make the initiation tomorrow after school?" Mariko asks as she took the items. "My father needs me home for business to attend to."
"Of course we can!" Paulina replies. "I can't wait to tell them that you're joining after all!"
As Paulina runs off, Mariko smirked, finally completing her mission objective as she said to herself.
"Difficult to believe you were so easy to trick, Paulina."
Suddenly, as Mariko turned around, she sees Sam with her fists on her hips, glaring at her.
"Oh. Hello, Sam." Mariko greets
"I knew it!" Sam snaps
"What are you talking about?" Mariko asks curiously
"Don't play coy! I know your little game!"
The Japanese girl rose her eyebrow as Sam continued
"I was right about you all along! You were using Danny just so you can join those shallow brats in their club!"
Before Mariko could say anything, Sam lifts her hand saying
"Save it! I've seen enough; enough to know that you never did like Danny in the first place!" she sighs before saying, "Danny should never have trusted you!"
Mariko lost her temper before she yelled at the goth girl
"Will you just shut up and let me explain?!"
Sam was taken by surprise as she took a step back. Soon, Mariko calmed down before saying
"I tricked Paulina into thinking that I reconsidered her offer." she holds out the items to Sam. "Now that I got what I needed, I'm ending the A-Listers and their favoritism, once and for all."
Sam was confused before she laughed, thinking it was a joke.
"You can't be serious! You're going to get them in trouble?" she said in between laughs
"I'm dead serious." Mariko replied with a glare of her own
Sam stopped laughing after hearing the serious tone in the Japanese girl's voice.
"I've been working on this since Monday." Mariko explains. "Since Lancer-sama hasn't disciplined Dash-teme, or any of these "A-Listers", I'm going to do something about it."
Sam was flabbergasted, seeing that this girl was actually doing something about their system. Still, the goth girl remained unconvinced.
"Oh, so who are you going to tell, your daddy?" Sam asked mockingly
Mariko smirked at Sam's question, catching her off-guard.
"That's exactly what I'm going to do; and what better day to tell him than today." she says
"Huh?" Sam said in confusion
"Since Lancer-sama scheduled to see my father at 3pm, it gives me more than enough time to get these photos developed and explain the situation to him." Mariko said
"Okay. I can't argue with that logic." Sam said while glancing away.
Mariko nods before she leaves the school as Sam watched her depart. The goth girl couldn't help but feel guilty at falsely accusing the Japanese girl of her motives.
Mariko returns home with a package in her hands. Looking at her smartphone, she saw that there was still time until her father goes to the conference.
The Japanese girl sees her father sitting at the dining room table as Kenji sees her.
"Ā. Mariko." he sees the package in her hands. "Anata no te ni nani ga arimasu ka?"
(Translation: Ah Mariko. What is that in your hands?)
As Mariko took a seat at the dining room table as she said with a concerned tone, something that Kenji immediately noticed
"Otosan. Hanashiai ga hitsuyodesu."
(Translation: Father. We need to talk.)
At Casper High, Mr. Lancer and Principal Ishiyama were finishing up their conference with Kenji over Mariko's academic performance. The man learned that his daughter was maintaining straight A's flawlessly. However, the two were in for a big surprise.
"Now then Mr. Watanabe, are there any questions or concerns you want to address?" Mr. Lancer asks
"Yes I do." Kenji said.
Much to their confusion, Kenji placed his briefcase onto the desk, opens it, and pulls out a file folder. After he closed and set it aside, the Japanese man had a look of anger as he glared at the two while sliding the item to the adults
"Mind telling me what this is all about?!"
Principal Ishiyama and Mr. Lancer looked confused before they open the folder to see photos of the A-Listers tormenting other students as well as the membership cards. To say the least, they instantly looked shocked when they saw each photo of incriminating evidence.
"My daughter has told me very interesting details that you play favoritism with these students in particular, just for the sake of their sports careers, among other things!"
Principal Ishiyama and Mr. Lancer look to see that Kenji was furious as the man said
"This is absolutely unacceptable that you let them off scot free and won't hesitate to punish others! Were if not for my daughter's counsel, I would send these to the press and have this school shut down!"
Kenji's words inflicted fear in both the principal and vice principal as they were instantly horror stricken.
"But Mariko wishes to finish her education here." Kenji said. "So this school will remain open."
Principal Ishiyama and Mr. Lancer breathed a sigh of relief, hearing that Casper High will remain open. However, Kenji wasn't finished with them.
"Heed my words." Kenji warns. "As of tomorrow, my daughter will inform me every day if you're treating all students fairly." he hardens his glare. "If she informs me that you allow even one bully go free, your jobs are forfeit. Not only will I speak with your superiors, but these will make the front page by the next morning!"
Principal Ishiyama and Mr. Lancer were once again horror-stricken by his warning, absolutely terrified of the lawsuits that will come down on them and hard.
"Do I make myself clear?" Kenji asks
"Y-y-yes. Very clear." Mr. Lancer said in terror.
"Good."
"Rest assure Mr. Watanabe, we will see to it that these students, whom your daughter has identified, will face the consequences." Principal Ishiyama said
"Then you won't mind if I remain here, to see that you do?" Kenji asked in suspicion
"Not at all."
Soon, Principal Ishiyama identifies every student in each photo as Mr. Lancer starts making calls to the parents of the A-Listers under Kenji's watchful eye. When the parents of the A-Listers came to the office, one can say that they were shocked on what their sons or daughters have been up to when they saw the photos.
However, only a certain blonde girl was spared from punishment, due to not participating in the tormenting of her fellow classmates.
The next day, Principal Ishiyama, Mr. Lancer, and all of the faculty confiscated the "cool kid" membership package from every member of the A-Listers, including their hallpass. Since then, each A-Lister who tried to bully other students got caught and punished with no hesitation.
In one area, there was a fuming Latina girl looking around as she walked down the hallways, searching for someone. To say the least, she wasn't happy with what happened last night between her and her father.
Flashback:
Paulina was sitting on her bed in her room while an angry Mr. Sanchez stared down at her.
"I'm very disappointed in you!" he says in a calm but angry tone. "Never before have I thought you capable of such things."
"But papa..." Paulina says
However, Mr. Sanchez held up his hand as he shouts,
"Silence!" he calms down before saying
"As punishment for everything you've done at school, you can forget about your quinceañera."
Paulina was shocked at her father's sentencing as she said in a begging tone
"B-but papa, you can't..."
"I can." Mr. Sanchez counters before he leaves while saying
"And I will."
Once the door was closed, Paulina starts crying into her pillow
Flashback ends:
Eventually, Paulina finally locates the individual responsible for her troubles; the Japanese girl who ruined her party. As Paulina starts approaching, Mariko closed her locker door. Right when she was about to walk to her next class, she sees Paulina storming up to her through her peripheral vision.
"YOU!" Paulina shouts
Mariko turns to face the Latina girl as she rose an eyebrow. The Japanese girl was not intimidated as Paulina starts shouting
"You lied to me! You pretended that you wanted to join, just to get me in trouble! Now, because of you, my quinceañera is ruined!"
Mariko smirked before she cooed mockingly
"Aww, did the little princess get into some hot water? Aww."
Paulina was on the verge of shedding tears
"IT'S NOT FUNNY!" she screeched.
Mariko chuckled before she laughed for a few seconds. Once she calmed down, she still had a mocking smile to Paulina as the Japanese girl spoke
"Ironic, isn't it?"
"Huh...?" Paulina said in confusion
"You relish in the torment of others, yet when someone returns what you've thrown, you don't like it at all."
Paulina growled in anger before Mariko said with a smug smirk
"Maybe now you'll learn that your actions will have consequences."
Paulina's anger was at its peak as she hissed with venom, venom that Mariko was immune to
"I hate you!"
"Oh no. You hate me. Whatever shall I do?" Mariko said in faux hurt
Paulina storms off in anger as Mariko shook her head in annoyance. When she turns around to walk to her next class, Mariko sees Mr. Lancer dragging Dash by the arm while the blonde jock was begging him to wait as he struggled to get out of Mr. Lancer's grip. Then, she sees Danny with his friends as the ghost boy waves to the Japanese girl
"What just happened?" Mariko asks as she points to her backside with her thumb
"Oh, Mr. Lancer caught Dash trying to stuff Danny into a locker again." Tucker replied
Mariko became greatly concerned as she asked
"Are you all right, Daniel-san?"
"I'm okay." Danny replies, causing Mariko to smile.
Sam could only stare at Mariko in a whole new light. The goth girl realized that the Japanese girl made good on her promise. Since then, the A-Listers were no longer respected or feared in the school. Also, the teachers were not cutting them slack and began treating all students equally. The goth girl felt an apology was owed as she said
"Mariko? Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Mariko nods as Danny and Tucker backed away to give the girls some privacy. Then, Sam took a breath before she began
"Listen Mariko, about yesterday? I want to say that I'm sorry for how I acted. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and..."
Mariko smiled as she said
"I forgive you, Sam."
Sam was shocked that the Japanese girl just said that she forgives her. The goth girl looks at Mariko in the eye as she said
"I understand that you were skeptical since these A-Listers got off scot free for a long time. Also, I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday."
"No need to apologize." Sam said while waving her hand dismissively. "I had it coming anyway."
Mariko genuinely smiled before Sam asks
"So, about your party, there are going to be vegetarian selections for food, right?"
"Of course." Mariko replies. "Daniel-san told me that you won't eat anything with a face on it. It helps that my mother refuses to eat anything that comes from an animal."
Sam smiled at that. She felt that she was finally at peace at the realization that Mariko genuinely cares about Danny while being considerate for the goth girl's interests. After seeing what the Japanese girl has done for this school, Sam now sees that Mariko is nothing like the shallow A-Listers.
Meanwhile, Paulina was rummaging through her locker with a frown before closing it after retrieving her textbooks.
"Who does she think she is, mocking me?" she hissed to herself.
As Paulina walked on, she mumbles in anger
"I wish a ghost would go after Mariko for ruining my quinceañera!"
However, the Latina girl did not realize that in the ventilation system, there was a female ghost with green skin lurking. It was clad in Arabic clothing, resembling a genie.
"About time someone made a wish." she emerges as her hands glowed with magenta energy. "And so you've wished it. So shall it be."
Suddenly, the ghost conjures a raptor-like ghost from the floor of the hallway. It sniffs the air before it locates its prey with a snarl.
"So, what is your dad planning for your birthday?" Tucker asks
"I'm not sure, but I hope my father does not go overboard. I hate being spoiled." Mariko replies
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense went off. Then, the teens hear a barking sound like a velociraptor from the Jurassic Park movies. Looking back, they see the ghost that resembled a velociraptor as it tapped its foot claws on the floor. They noticed that the reptile's gaze was focused on Mariko as the Japanese girl stepped back in confusion while the creature growled.
Danny ran to an empty room
"I'm going ghost!"
Danny transforms into Danny Phantom and confronts the velociraptor ghost as it leaps to attack Mariko.
"Sorry scaly!" Danny shouts as he tackles the reptilian apparition. "No snack for you!"
Danny phases the ghost through a wall as Paulina noticed and shouts
"Ghost boy, wait!"
Danny confronts the beast as it leaped to attack him. However, something pierced the raptor's back as it roared in pain. Suddenly, it was pulled back before being kicked to a wall. Danny sees Mariko armed with her katana and a kunai was in her gloved hand as she had a fierce look.
"Stay away from him!" Mariko barks as she holstered her kunai and draws her sword
The raptor gets up with a growl as the Japanese girl readies for battle. However, Danny blasts it, sending it to a different wall. The two corner it as Danny demanded
"Who sent you?!"
It simply growls before it fades out of existence. Mariko sheathed her weapon before pressing a button to convert it into a small rectangular box and placed it into a pocket of her bomber jacket. Meanwhile, Danny closed the door of the room before transforming back to his human self.
"Too bizarre, wouldn't you say?" Mariko asks
"Yeah. That was way too weird." Danny replies in agreement.
It was the end of the school day as Danny, Sam and Tucker were walking towards the exit of Casper High
"Man, wonder why that ghost, that looked like a Jurassic Park rip-off, attacked Mariko in the first place?" Tucker asks
"I don't know, but we better keep our eyes peeled, in case something else happens." Danny said with a determined look.
"I agree, but let's hope nothing else happens." Sam said in response.
Meanwhile, Paulina slammed her locker door. She found out that Mariko helped Danny Phantom deal with the ghost that arrived earlier. The Latina girl was livid, no, furious at the fact that the Japanese girl got near her ghost boy again. She also discovered that the apparition was attacking Mariko, but Danny Phantom and Mariko held it off before it vanished.
She sees the Japanese girl closing her own locker before running through the halls to catch up to Danny and his friends. Paulina glared at Mariko with hatred as she gritted her teeth and clenched her shaking fists, trying to keep her anger contained
"I wish Mariko never came to Amity Park at all!"
As Paulina walked away, the genie ghost appeared into the empty halls as it cackled in triumph.
"Finally! A wish that is the deepest of desires!"
At the Nasty Burger, Danny, Sam, Tucker, and Mariko were sitting at a table outside the restaurant.
"So, what sort of movie is this?" Mariko asks in curiosity
"It's sort of a chick flick." Danny replies
"Not a chick flick, the chick flick." Sam corrects. "Trinity of Doom is out in theaters this Friday!" she shifts her focus to Mariko. "But we're going to go see it on Saturday. You should come."
"Sure." Mariko said with a smile
Then, Danny's ghost sense went off as the other teens noticed. Suddenly, they see magenta smoke before the same genie ghost appeared. Thankfully, there were no witnesses as everyone else fled for their lives. To Danny, the ghost was not only familiar to him, but larger in size
"Desiree!" he transforms. "You look...different!"
The ghost named Desiree said to him
"More powerful?! Why yes! The more wishes I grant, the more powerful I get!"
The genie ghost cackled before she remembered something
"Oh! And with the meteor shower coming tomorrow-night, everyone will make wishes!"
Desiree proceeds to attack Danny as she used her ghostly tail to ensnare and send him to the ground. Getting up, Danny asks furiously
"What do you want?!"
"It's not what I want; it's about what Paulina wants!" Desiree replied
Those who were present went into shock as they heard the ghost speak Paulina's name
"Paulina...?!" Sam says in shock and worry
As Mariko arms herself and was about to help Danny, Desiree said to the ghost boy
"And she just wished that this Mariko, never came to Amity Park!"
"What...?!" Danny shouts in shock
Mariko gasped at the fact that the same, bratty Latina girl was the one who made the wish. Then, Desiree proceeds to use her powers as her hands glowed while she shifts her focus on the Japanese girl
"And so she has wished it! SO IT SHALL BE!"
"MARIKO!" Danny shouts as he tries to intercept Desiree
However, he was too late as Desiree fired an energy blast that was far too fast for Mariko to evade and counterattack. It hits her as she cried out while her body started glowing with magenta energy. Mariko struggles to free herself as she was being lifted off the ground. Danny, Sam, and Tucker could only stare in horror as a dark void-like hole began to open up and suck her in.
"DAAAAANNNYY!" Mariko cries out as she was sucked into the void
Then, after the dark hole closes, Desiree hits Danny, Sam, and Tucker with energy as the teens heard the female ghost's maniacal laughter before blacking out.
It was Friday at Casper High. In the hallways, Tucker was looking at his PDA as Danny said
"Too bad Paulina backstabbed us and revoked our invites."
"Yeah, but we got better things to do, right?" Tucker asks
Sam had a confused look upon hearing those words as she tries comforting Danny.
"Danny. We'll find a way to get Mariko back once we catch Desiree. I promise."
Danny was confused upon hearing the name before he asks
"Who's Mariko?"
"Huh...?"
In another area, Dash was stuffing 3 students into a locker as Kwan watched.
"This could be a new record, but there's room for more!" Dash said before he turns to Kwan. "Go get Mikey!"
As Kwan left to hunt down his target, Sam had a worried look seeing that things were going back to the way they were. Suddenly, she sees Paulina talking to Star as they passed by the teen trio.
"It was so weird. I mean, there was this girl who ruined my party, but when I wake up, it was just a nightmare."
"That must've been some nightmare." Star comments.
As Dash stuffed Mikey into the locker, the redhead shouts
"I wish somebody would show what this feels like!"
Suddenly, Desiree appears as her hands glowed
"So you wished it. So shall it...eh, you know the rest."
She fires a blast at Mikey. A chain reaction immediately commenced as Mikey turned into a monster, much to the horror of Dash and Kwan. Desiree increases in size and power as Danny noticed. As everyone panicked at the sight of the creature, Danny takes cover to transform. However, when he confronts the genie ghost, Desiree anticipated his movements as she counterattacks, knocking down the ghost boy.
"A shame your little girlfriend can't help you this time!" Desiree taunts
Danny was confused as he asked
"Girlfriend? What are you talking about?"
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Desiree disappears as Mikey in his monster form stuffs Dash and Kwan into an open locker
"We're sorry! We're sorry!" Dash whimpers.
Suddenly, Mikey turns back to normal right before the two jocks before he slammed the locker shut and shouts with his fists in the air
"I RULE!"
Danny takes cover to transform back before he emerged from the locker that Sam and Tucker stood in front of. The ghost boy asked in confusion
"Why did Desiree mention something about me having a girlfriend?"
"I don't know dude, but I'd say I'm up for getting some chow at the Nasty Burger." Tucker says
"Right behind you." Danny replies as he followed Tucker
As Sam remained behind in the hallways, she sees that her photos that she took with Danny and Tucker remained the same. However, the goth girl gasped in horror as she came to a realization.
"Oh no! When Paulina wished that Mariko never came to Amity Park, Desiree not only made her disappear, but erased everything that she's done; even Danny's memories of her!"
Grabbing her backpack, Sam ran after her friends as she called out
"Danny! You have to listen to me!"
It was the afternoon hours. At the Nasty Burger, Danny and Tucker were enjoying their meal as Sam arrived.
"Danny..." Sam began as she took a seat. "I know that you have no recollection of Mariko, but maybe I can help...give you a bit of a description."
"Okay, but I still don't know who she is." Danny said as he glanced away before looking at Sam. "But I got a slight hunch that you know something about her."
Sam nods before she replies to him
"Well, for starters, she's prettier than Paulina, in your opinion. Also, Mariko has a kind heart. You genuinely liked her for her and vice versa."
Danny rose an eyebrow as he asked
"I was crushing on her?"
"You did. More than you crushed on Paulina in all honesty." Sam replies
"Too bad I haven't met her." Danny said
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense went off before Desiree appeared as she bellowed
"AND YOU NEVER WILL!"
Danny dove under the table to transform before he faces the ghostly genie as she was ready to brawl.
"I'm guessing you're not here for a simple visit!"
"You guessed right!" Desiree taunts. "The meteor shower approaches! Once everyone wishes upon the stars, I will become all-powerful!"
Sam watched as she remembered when Mr. Lancer taught about the meteor shower taking place on the very day at night. The goth girl got an idea as she shouted
"Hey, Desiree! I have a proposition!"
Desiree shifts her focus to Sam as she approached her.
"What proposition do you have in mind?!" the ghost asks with an intrigued tone
"Since you're waiting for that meteor shower to happen, how about Danny fights you at sunset when it approaches?!" Sam shouts in a challenging tone
Desiree was completely interested as she grinned wickedly
"Intersting!"
"If you beat Danny, I'll tell you my wish! Deal?!" Sam says
"Deal!" Desiree replies before she said as she vanished. "Name the place or better yet...wish for me to be there!"
As Danny morphed back, he had a worried look as he asked
"Sam, what did you just do?"
"Trust me, Danny! I have a plan!" Sam assures
"I hope so, Sam."
The sun was setting over the horizon. Danny, Sam, and Tucker were at a hill that had a view of the Amity Country Club.
"Okay! Here we go!" Danny said while he took a breath to calm himself
After Danny transformed, Sam approached him with something in her hands
"Before it starts, I have something for you." she says
Sam places a white insignia that was shaped like the letter "D" with the letter "P" inside it onto Danny's chest. The ghost boy looked at it for a second before looking at the goth girl.
"What's it for?"
"Thought your costume could use a change." Sam replies with a shrug.
Then, Sam turns to Tucker and nods at him. The African boy gets the subtle message as he said
"I wish Desiree was here!"
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense went off and on cue, Desiree appears before them.
"So you wished it, so shall it be!"
Danny was ready to fight as was his opponent. Danny charged at Desiree who was ready for him. The genie forms an energy shield to make it feel like he was heading to a brick wall when Danny crashed into it. As Desiree formed a sledgehammer on her arm, she brings it down on Danny who turned intangible in time and sank into the ground. Suddenly, he surprised her by blasting Desiree from the ground as he rose up from it.
Desiree sneered, clearly angry from Danny's sneak attack
"How DARE you harm me!"
"I dare on a lot of things!" Danny counters
The ghost boy ducks to dodge a horizontal swing from his opponent before he lands a right uppercut. Then, Danny proceeds to blast Desiree to the ground as his hands remained glowing. The genie ghost becomes enraged as she increased her size, becoming larger as Danny watched in horror.
"I GROW TIRED OF YOUR ARROGANCE!" Desiree bellows in rage
Danny does his best to dodge Desiree's attacks. However, thanks to granting wishes and getting a power boost as a result, Desiree was not making it easy for him as she clearly demonstrated on how powerful she has become. The ghostly hero had quite a number of close calls as he narrowly dodged his opponent's attacks. Eventually, Desiree managed to get in a good shot as she blasts Danny to the ground.
Desiree pins down Danny with her hand as the enormous genie ghost reformed her sledgehammer on her arm, ready to finish him off. When Desiree was about to bring the hammer down, Sam intervened as she shouted
"Desiree, wait! You've won! So I'm going to tell you my wish, like I said I would!"
Desiree grinned wicked as she stood down. Returning to normal size, Desiree approached Sam while making her hands glow with magenta energy.
"Well then, child!" Desiree says. "Speak your wish and I will make it so!"
Inside, Sam was smirking, knowing that Desiree took the bait as she thought
"Now to set things right!"
"Sam, NO!" Tucker shouts, trying to stop her.
"I wish that you never granted Paulina's wish!" Sam shouts
Desiree gasped in shock, realizing what it would mean.
"Wait! But then..."
Suddenly, Desiree's body began glowing green as she tried to resist
"NO! I...!" Desiree's power takes over her mind as she said, "I must...obey."
Desiree hesitantly lifts her hands into the air as they glowed with energy. The genie ghost proceeds to say in a bitter tone
"So you wished it. So, it shall be."
Upon activation of her powers, Desiree begins to undo the wish that Paulina made. Danny and Tucker's eyes glowed the same color as Desiree's energy for a second as their memories of Mariko instantly became restored. Also, there was one other...detail that almost remained undone...
Paulina was on her way home using a scooter as she carried her dress that she picked up from the cleaners. Right when the Latina girl stopped at a "stop" sign, it suddenly disappears as she noticed in an instant. Paulina began to shed tears as she cried out
"NOOOOOOOO!"
Desiree became weak as she glared at Sam with rage.
"I'LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR...!"
Desiree didn't finish her threat as she was suddenly struck from behind by an energy blast.
"Danny?!" Sam asked
"Wasn't me!" Danny said with his hands raised
"Guys, look!" Tucker says, pointing in the direction where the attack originated from
They look to see a certain Japanese girl spin cocking her smoking blaster with a smirk, much to the joy of Danny
"Somebody forget to invite me?" Mariko asks in a playful faux hurt tone
"MARIKO!" Danny happily shouts
The ghost boy rushed in to hug Mariko as the Japanese girl returned it to him before they part
"Forgiven!" Mariko playfully quips.
Then, Mariko glares at Desiree as she venomously grimaced
"Have I got a wish for you."
Mariko approaches a downed Desiree as she said
"I wish that you go back to wherever it is you came from, and never return!"
Desiree gasped as her powers activate upon Mariko's wish. The ghostly genie cries out in defiance before she disappears.
Only to reappear in the Ghost Zone. Desiree sighed while lowering her eyes in annoyance that her power was used against her
"I've got to stop granting every wish I hear."
Back on Earth, Mariko holsters her blaster as Sam and Tucker rush up to her.
"Nice use of wishing, Mariko!" Tucker compliments
"Turning your enemy's strength into their weakness helps in combat." Mariko comments
Sam genuinely smiles as she said
"It's good to have you back, Mariko."
"And it's good to be back." Mariko replies
It was night as Mariko's birthday began. There was rock music playing on the DJ stereo in the backyard as all of those who were invited were there, enjoying the festivities. The Japanese girl made good on her promise to Sam that there will be a selection of vegan foods, much to the goth girl's delight.
"This I can get used to." Sam comments as she enjoyed her tofu burgers
"Where is Tucker anyway?" Danny asks
Mariko points behind her as Sam and Danny look to see Tucker with Hikaru.
"So Hikaru, when are you going back to Tokyo?" Tucker asks
"Satoshi and I are going back tomorrow-afternoon Tucker-chan." Hikaru replies
Tucker pouts as he whines
"Aw dang! Wish you could stay a little longer."
Hikaru giggled before the Japanese girl walks to the house as she says to Tucker
"Wait here."
Tucker was confused at first, but then shrugged it off. After a minute passes, Hikaru returns with a folded paper in her hand. The African boy notices it as she handed it to him before walking away with a smile.
Curiosity got to Tucker as he slowly opened it. His eyes suddenly widen as he sees Hikaru's number and email written on the paper. When Tucker glanced up from the paper, he sees Hikaru make a "call me" hand gesture with a genuine smile
"SWEET!" Tucker cheers
However, his soda was accidentally knocked down as the liquid spills onto his shoes, causing Tucker to pout
"Oh, come on!" he whines.
Sam couldn't help but roll her eyes as she shook her head, with a smile, at her friend's clumsiness. The goth girl glanced at Danny dancing with Mariko in the area where other people were dancing at.
"I'm glad that Danny found a girl like her. They deserve one another." Sam thought
The party went on as Sam looked up to see the meteor shower starting to commence as everyone took notice and stopped for a minute to observe the rare cosmic event.
And done! Looks like the winds of change are starting to blow in Amity Park. Stay tuned for the next chapter.
A/N: In my opinion when I watched "Memory Blank", it peeved me that Paulina never wanted to invite Danny and his friends in the first place. On top of that, I had a lot to think on writing this chapter. At least, the A-Listers no longer "rule the school" and since it says in my summary that Paulina becomes Mariko's enemy, I came up with the idea that it was she who made the wish and went from there. The result: a good chapter that I'd say would be my masterpiece, but there may be others that I might go overboard on. Plus, I wanted Sam's jealousy to be done with
