Chapter 5: Lowee Visit
"So, Neptune and Venus are going to Lowee today?" Noire asked Historie across their video call.
"Yes," the tome-fairy replied. "Neptune had commissioned something from that nation, a shield to be precise. Venus chose the sword and shield as her weapons of choice, but on just her first quest, her starting shield was destroyed. Lowee has created some of the strongest materials in Gaminustri, so Neptune personally contacted Blanc to have a replacement made from those materials."
"Huh. I would've started Venus on lower-level equipment, but if Neptune has the money to spare..." the black-haired goddess mused.
"Well, I control how much Neptune spends through an allowance, but since losing Nepgear, she hasn't been spending it, so it just kept building up."
"For the old Neptune, an allowance makes sense. She probably couldn't handle her nation's money very well."
"Of course," Histoire answered. "But anyways, Neptune went to Lowee with Venus to pick up her new shield in person. Neptune figured it would be a good chance to show Venus one of the other nations at the same time, and get her more familiar with Gaminustri as a whole."
"I would've figured she would come to Lastation first," Noire stated. "She usually starts here when it comes to visiting all the nations. But she does have a good reason to start with Lowee, I guess. As long as Blanc doesn't verbally attack Neptune or Venus."
"I'm more worried about how Venus will interact with Blanc and her sisters," Histoire admitted. "You know how she reacted to them when they first met. I'm worried it's only going to get worse, especially given Blanc's anger problems."
"Give her some slack, she's only a week old. Not a whole lot of time to get any wiser, as they say."
"Yes, but I'm worried Venus isn't learning much of anything! You know, she only realized her sister was Purple Heart and what HDD even was on that quest I mentioned earlier, which was just a few days ago. She somehow missed Neptune transforming up until then."
"That's... incredible." Noire had no other words to describe that. And considering everything else Venus somehow missed, like Vert's... assets. The young candidate was shaping up to be quite the oblivious character, and she probably had a long way to go before she could take over Planeptune from her sister. Not that it would be a concern for a long time, but still...
"I'm starting to think it might be time to lecture Venus on being a proper goddess, ...and about paying attention," Histoire continued. "And since I know Neptune won't bother, I'll probably have to train her on how to do paperwork as well."
"Just remember to go easy on her, okay. I think Venus may need more time than most to get used to everything," Noire explained. "Also, Venus needs to help Neptune adjust to her being here. I'm sure it'll help Neptune heal, too, so make sure they spend let's of time together!"
"I understand, but training her as a goddess is also an important priority. Okay, I must go, I have work to do."
"Yes, so do I. I'll talk to you later," Noire replied. Histoire nodded in acknowledgment, and the video feed shut off. Noire leaned back in her chair. "Maybe I should invite Venus and Neptune over in a few weeks. That would be nice. And maybe Uni might get to know Venus a little better."
"Woah, look at all that white stuff!" Venus exclaimed. Since she couldn't access HDD yet, Purple Heart carried her while she flew them both to Lowee. They were just starting to cross into Lowee territory, so they began to see signs of the nation's wintery nature.
"That is snow," Purple Heart explained. "Lowee is known for its snow, making it a winter wonderland. And it's quite fun to play with, too, and there are many ways to that!"
"That sounds so cool!"
"Indeed it is," Purple Heart said with a chuckle. "Speaking of which, Lowee is pretty cold. Your jacket and tights should help keep you warm, but you should zip up, and if you still feel too cold, I have a portable warmer I can give you."
"Okay. You know sis, you feel really soft in this form for some reason," Venus said, somehow still unaware of Purple Heart's generous chest, despite her head almost resting on them, due to how she was being carried.
For some reason? Purple Heart thought. She knew that Venus failed to notice Vert's chest, and that was funny at the time, but was she also oblivious to her own sister's chest? Purple Heart shook her head and decided to ignore it. She always preferred smaller human form anyway, so she didn't feel insulted by this, and if her sister didn't care about breasts, then what did it matter? At least she wouldn't be making fun of Blanc or Uni's shortcomings if she didn't notice them. At least Purple Heart hoped that would be the case.
"Don't worry about it, Venus," Purple Heart finally answered. "I suppose our HDD forms have softer skin. It would make sense, these forms are supposed to be divine."
"Okay. So, do you know how long it will take for me to get a goddy form?" Venus asked.
Purple Heart smiled, think that "goddy form" was charming. "Unfortunately, I do not know. You have some growing up to be you can do that. But once you do, I'm sure you will become the most beautiful of goddesses."
Venus nodded, returning the smile. Then she looked down. "Woah, is that Lowee!?"
"Yes, that is the capital city of Lowee," her sister confirmed.
Venus was amazed by what she saw. It was so different than the futuristic, towering, chrome-and-purple city of her home, Planeptune.
Lowee was filled with many colorful buildings, some very old-fashioned looking, some with mushroom-top-like roofs. Stone-tile pathways weaved in and around the city. And in the center of it all, was a large castle-like structure. It looked so... magical.
Venus noticed where they were flying to, and asked about it. "So, are we going to that castle?"
"Yes, that is the Lowee Basilicom, where Blanc lives," Purple Heart explained.
"So, we have a tower, and Flan has a castle?"
"It's pronounced 'Blan'," Purple Heart corrected, so that hopefully her sister wouldn't piss the Loweean goddess off when they landed, "and are you saying you don't like our tower?"
"I love our tower!" Venus exclaimed. "But the castle is cool, too."
"Well, that's good to know." Purple Heart began to approach the balcony of the castle Basilicom, where Blanc herself was waiting, along with her sisters, as well as a maid girl with medium-length light-brown hair and brown eyes, wearing a white apron-like gown over a red shirt with a brown bow.
Purple Heart landed in front of the group, putting Venus down and turning back into Neptune. "Heya, Blanc!" she greeted.
"Hello, Neptune, Venus," Blanc greeted back.
"Hi again, Flan! Wow, you're just as small and cute as the last time we saw each other!" Venus said.
"...That was less than a week ago, and it's BLANC!" the Loweean goddess replied, clearly irritated.
"Isn't that what I said?" Venus asked innocently.
"Aw geez," Neptune spoke up. "It's no use, Blanc. I JUST corrected her on her to pronounce your name before we landed, and it still didn't get through to her. Maybe think of it as a cute nickname," she said in the hope that it would calm Blanc down.
Blanc just glared at Neptune. "I bet she's still going to get my sister's names wrong."
"Well..." Venus said, looking at the twins. "That's... Rom, right?" She said pointing to not Rom, but Ram, then point to the other twin, saying, "and that's Ram."
"No! I'm Ram!" the pink twin corrected.
"I'm Rom, miss Venus," the blue twin added.
"Right, Rom and Ram," Venus said, again pointing to the wrong twins.
"Really!" Ram replied angrily.
"I mean, you ARE identical twins, so it makes sense that someone could be confused," Neptune defended.
"But we're not THAT identical," Ram complained. "We wear different colors!"
"And we have different hair styled," Rom added.
"Just... give her time," Neptune requested. "If I've learned anything about my new sister, it's that she's... not the brightest. So, just keep reminding her which of you is which, and I'm sure she'll get it eventually. But please don't be mean about it, 'kay?"
"Um, okay miss Neptune," Rom softly replied. "I'll try."
"Rom- augh, fine!" Ram said.
The maid girl walked up to Venus and bowed. "I should introduce myself. I am Financier, Lady Blanc's chamberlain. It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Venus."
"It's nice to meet you, too, Finan- uh, Fancy... Fancier?" Venus said, stumbling on her name.
"Just call her Fina," Neptune interjected.
"Fina! Yes! So... you do... chamber things?"
"...I hope you mean that innocently," Blanc commented, while Neptune began to snicker. Blanc turned to Neptune to shout, "Not funny!"
"Oh, my position is as a servant to Lady Blanc, if that helps explain what I do," Financier told Venus while smiling awkwardly.
"Oh, yeah, that makes sense!" Venus replied.
"So," Neptune said as she collected herself, "enough with the greetings. You get the goods, Blanc?"
"I swear, you two..." Blanc said to herself, realizing it was going to be one of those days. "Yes, I do. Financier, if you would."
"Of course, my lady, right away." Financier bowed, before heading inside. Half a minute later, she returned, carrying Venus's new shield.
It wasn't too different from Venus's first shield. It was a frisbee-like circular shield, and it was about the same size as the last one too, maybe even a bit bigger. It also had the purple Planeptune-N on it, though, unlike the last shield, it had a white base color around it, with a purple rim.
"Wow," Venus said as she picked up her new armament.
"I hope it wasn't too awkward to ask your engineers to put my nation's symbol on it rather than yours," Neptune said to Blanc.
"It wasn't a big deal," Blanc replied. "It makes sense that Planeptune's Candidate to carry her nation's symbol on her arm. You'd probably get in an argument with me if I put my nation's symbol on it, and you might lose Shares to me if your sister carried around my symbol. And as amusing as it would be, you could just paint over it, so I figured it would be better not to waste our time."
"Gee, thanks. And it's made from the toughest material you got?"
"Yes, just as you requested, it's made from Loweenium."
"Loweenium?" Venus asked.
"Yes, it's a highly durable synthetic material my nation developed," Blanc explained. "We use it in our consoles construction, so they don't break as easily. But it's not normally strong enough to make armor out of. To make Loweenium battle-ready is a very difficult and expensive process, but worth it as it becomes some of the best armor you can get. You're lucky I'm doing this as a favor for you, because you're getting the best shield in Gamindutri for free."
"Wow!" Venus put on the shield, and was amazed by how it felt once strapped on. "It's so soft!"
"The inner padding is made to be as soft as snow. Well, not literally, but that's the idea," Blanc continued.
"Awesome!" Venus exclaimed before the shield disappeared in blue pixels as she placed her new shield in her inventory. "Thanks, Flan! And thanks to you too, big sis!"
"Aw, you're welcome, sis," Neptune replied.
Blanc sighed. "Yes, you are welcome."
"My Ladies, we should get inside before we get too cold," Financier said.
"Of course," and Blanc led the group inside, which, like the Planeptune Basilicom, led into the main living area from the balcony.
"Hey, Venus, come with us!" Ram suddenly said.
"Yeah, we want to show you something," Rom added.
"Huh, okay," Venus replied as she began to follow.
"Lady Blanc," Financier spoke up. "the twins were in here for quite a while before coming out to wait with us."
"Oh no..." Blanc groaned in frustration.
The twins had Venus lead the way, and once Venus opened the door they guided her to... A bucket of water fell on Venus's head and drenched her.
"Yeah! We got her!" Ram cheered.
"Yay...!" Rom joined in.
Their joy and accomplishment in their successful prank were cut short, however, when they realized... Venus wasn't exactly reacting.
"Uh, sis?" Neptune asked, concerned.
"There's a bucket on my head," Venus stated, sounding genuinely confused.
Neptune snickered at that response. "Yeah, you got pranked by Rom and Ram."
"Oh..."
"...You can take the bucket off your head,"
"Oh, thank goodness," Venus said as she took the bucket off her head, shaking her head and spreading water droplets everywhere. "I couldn't see in there!"
"Man, you're lame!" Ram complained.
"I am?"
"Yeah, you're supposed to get annoyed and mad, and then chase us around or pout or something!"
"I thought her reaction was kind of funny..." Rom said.
"Really, Rom?" Ram replied.
Blanc sighed. "I'm sorry about this."
"Eh, it's alright," Neptune said. "Venus seems fine, so it's all good."
"Right... Financier, could you help Venus dry up, so Rom and Ram can show her around Lowee. I'd like to speak to Neptune alone."
"Huh," the two Planeptune sisters said at the same time.
"I just want to talk to your sister, Venus," Blanc replied. "Important CPU business."
"Aw, you're going to make big sis do boring things again?" Venus complained. "She does that ALL the time."
"...Okay."
"It's alright, Venus," Neptune told her sister. "Just go have fun with your fellow Candidates. And try to figure out their names while you're at it. They'd really appreciate that, I'm sure."
"Right, uh... Rom," Venus said, pointing to the pink twin.
"Ram!" she countered.
"Ugh, this is so hard!"
"How!?"
"Calm down, please," Financier interjected. "Please come with me, Lady Venus."
As the Candidates left with Financier, Blanc brought Neptune to her office.
Once they sat down, Blanc started, "so, how have you been doing over the last year?"
Neptune was silent, as she didn't have an answer for that.
"Noire got me thinking," Blanc continued. "You've been keeping your friends away from you. You wouldn't speak to Noire, you wouldn't let IF and Compa visit you. It's not like you. I bet, right now, you'd rather not be here, and you're only here because of Venus."
"Blanc... I..." Neptune started.
"I'll admit, I didn't care to check up on you. I liked the peace and quiet. And I thought giving you space would help, but after speaking with Noire when you introduced us to Venus..." Blanc sighed, "look, as annoying as you are, you are my friend, and I'm concerned about you."
"...I can't get her out of my head, Blanc. I was supposed to be Nepgear's big sister... And I wasn't there for her..." Neptune started to tear up. "I don't want to screw up again! I don't want to screw up as a big sister...!"
"No wonder you're going so above and beyond for Venus's gear. Have you... talked to Venus about Nepgear?"
"No, I haven't. I don't know if Histoire or Noire has, but... I don't want to worry Venus about Nepgear. Not if they won't ever meet."
"That makes sense... but if you can't stop thinking about Nepgear-"
"I'll keep it to myself!" Neptune interrupted Blanc. "Venus doesn't need to know!"
Blanc closed her eyes. She didn't know how bad it was until now. No wonder Noire was so worried about her. If she keeps bottling this up... that couldn't be good. Sure, Blanc had anger issues, but she knew not to bottle up her emotions.
But Noire thought Venus could help. ...Blanc wasn't convinced. Even Neptune acknowledged that she wasn't super bright. How would she even notice?
Still, she could act like things were normal. Maybe that would help. "Okay... By the way, just so we're clear, I don't like the name 'Flan'. Pudding is your thing, not mine."
"...I was worried about that," Neptune responded.
"Just make sure your sister learns my name, too. So... do you want to play some games?"
"Naw... I'm good."
Blanc blinked. Neptune NEVER turned down the change to play games. This was worse than she thought.
A few hours had passed after Neptune and Blanc's conversation. Neptune had decided to walk around the Basilicom to clear her mind, so Blanc decided to go back to writing her next novel, though her conversation with Neptune stuck in her mind. Meanwhile, the twins were showing Venus how to make snowmen, snow angels, and later they had a snowball fight. It was fun, ...for the most part.
Financier had informed Neptune and Blanc that their sisters had returned, so they to go meet with them. And they found Venus, Rom, and a very grumpy Ram.
"Aw, geez, kid, what got your... uh..." Neptune started before noticing what was wrong with Ram, which Blanc noticed as well.
"Why do you have a black eye?" Blanc asked her younger sister.
"Venus hit me with a snowball!" Ram exclaimed.
"I'm sorry!" Venus replied.
"You keep saying that! But you still didn't play fair!"
"Uh, if you were having a snowball fight, then aren't you supposed to get hit by snowballs?" Neptune asked.
"Well..." Rom spoke up, "Blanc, you know those games with the heroine that has a sword and shield?"
"Yes..." Blanc replied.
"And in the more recent games, you could use the shield to knock projectiles back at the enemies, right?"
"Uh-huh..."
"Well, I wanted to know if Venus could do that, so me and Ram threw snowballs at her shield, and she... she managed to hit one so hard, it hit Ram in the face."
"Then why are you claiming she didn't play fair when she was doing EXACTLY what you were expecting her to do!" Blanc shouted at Ram.
"Wow... While I do feel bad for you Ram..." Neptune said, "...you gotta admit, it's pretty impressive that Venus pulled that off."
"Neptune!" Blanc exclaimed.
"I mean, Venus shouldn't have hit her, AND she did apologize, which is what she was supposed to do, but imagine what she could do with this if she could use this in an actual battle?"
Blanc sighed. "I suppose you're right..."
"Oh, come on, really!" Ram complained.
"I'm sorry!" Venus repeated.
"Ram, Venus didn't mean to hit you," Rom defended.
"But-" Ram started.
"Enough," Blanc intervened. "May I talk to Venus alone about something?"
"Um..." Venus replied nervously.
"It's not about Ram, don't worry."
"Oh... well..."
"It'll be fine," Neptune said.
"...Then, sure!" Venus replied.
Blanc nodded in gratitude, though she now had to focus on what she wanted to show Venus.
Blanc led Venus into her home kitchen, by a closed door in the back.
"So... Venus, have you heard of the CPU Candidate Nepgear?" Blanc asked the young Candidate.
"Nora told me about her," Venus said, though she wasn't confused as to why she was being asked this. "She told me the Nepgear was big sis's little sis before me."
"You do realize that means Nepgear would be YOUR sister too, right?" Blanc groaned in frustration. "Ugh, doesn't matter, I want to show you something she made for us."
Blanc opened the door they were standing by, and rolled a robot out. It was fairly big, and modeled to look like a green dinosaur, specifically a T-rex, with a metal mohawk-like top and headlight-like eyes on his head, and it had grabber-claw hands and metal-slab feet, both on the generic robot-wire limbs.
"Woah, so, Nepgear- or, um, sis-gear made this?" Venus asked.
"Sis-gear...?" Blanc responded. "Whatever. It's called Pyoshi. Rom and Ram wanted Nepgear to build a robot for them, and she built this. It's supposed to... I guess, eat food, and then use that food to "lay" egg-shaped cookies. ...That's how Rom and Ram described it."
"Cool... I don't get it!"
"I don't fully understand it either..." Blanc admitted. "Point is, this is what Nepgear was capable of doing." Blanc turned to Venus. "So, what can you do?"
Venus, however, wasn't paying attention. "So, could I have some cookies?" Venus asked.
"Ugh, fine!" Blanc turned, and powered on Pyoshi. The dino-robot then went ever to the fridge, opened it up, and then its mouth opened, and a suction tube slid out, and began sucking up food from the fridge. Then the... backend of the robot opened up, a conveyer belt slid out, its end dropping to the ground, and within seconds, egg-shaped cookies, as Blanc said, began rolling out.
Venus grabbed one, took a bite, and smiled in joy as she chewed. "Mm, so tasty."
"Okay, Venus are you listening now?" Blanc asked, exasperated.
"Mm-hm," Venus replied, still enjoying her cookie.
"Okay, could you do something like this!?"
"Um... I don't think I want to lay egg-shaped cookies. That sounds really weird. But they are tasty though." Venus finished her cookie, and grabbed another.
Blanc facepalmed. "No! What I mean is, What could you do for your nation or a different nation!?"
"...Um, I could... play games?" Venus replied innocently. "Nora said big sis used to do that, and it sounds fun. I could do that with other people-"
"What... the... H***!" Blanc shouted, interrupting and even scaring Venus a little. "You know, I liked Nepgear! She was smart, and responsible! I always thought that Planeptune would be completely fine with her in charge, compared to her idiot older sister. But now she's been replaced with a useless idiot like you, who's even worse than Neptune!"
"B-but..." Venus tried to reply.
"Planeptune would've been better off with Nepgear as its Candidate, not you!"
Venus then ran towards, doubled back to grab a few more cookies, then ran off for real to look for her sister.
Unfortunately, she ran into the twins first, or more accurately, the banana cream pie they threw at her.
"Yeah! Vengeance is sweet!" Ram cried out.
Venus simply pocketed her cookies and pulled the pie off her face, and said, "I don't really want a pie right now..."
"Oh, come on, really!?" Ram exclaimed. "You know, Nepgear was more fun than you are!"
"Yeah, I'm starting to get bored by this, too..." Rom admitted.
Because of the cream on her face, the twins failed to notice that the expression showing that Venus was upset, as least until she continued to run off, now crying.
"Um... Ram," Rom spoke up after Venus disappeared around the corner. "I... I think we went too far."
Ram simply went "hmph", and walked off.
"Ram!" Rom exclaimed as she chased her sister.
Eventually, Venus found her sister, and told her, "I want to go home now!"
Neptune turned, and found her sister upset and her face covered in cream. "You okay, kiddo? I thought pranks didn't bother you?"
"What? No, I like the pie, but I'm not in the mood for pie right now. I just want to go home!"
This answer confused Neptune, because if the pie prank wasn't what made her sister upset, she didn't know what did. What mattered was that her sister was upset at all.
"Okay, then let's go. I'll tell Fina that we're leaving," Neptune told her sister, thinking they might not have time to give proper goodbyes to Blanc and her sisters with how upset Venus was. "Did... you want to keep the pie?"
She looked down at the messed-up dessert that she was still holding. "Maybe?"
Neptune smiled, took the pie from her sister, and put it in her inventory, where it disappeared and would be safe for the flight home. "Do you at least like your new shield?"
"Yeah... but, why is everyone so mean?"
"Oh. Blanc snapped, didn't she? It's okay, we won't stay for much longer."
Neptune was worried that this would affect Venus's opinion on Lowee, when Blanc was one of her closest friends. For now, Neptune had to take her sister home and help her calm down. Then maybe later, she could talk to Blanc.
Author's Note: So, I know I'm not the best to say this, since I'm the one who purposefully wrote Blanc the way she this chapter, but let's do some character analysis. I'm sure some of you will agree, it is way too early in Venus's life to be asking her such deep questions. Blanc was just concerned for Neptune, and wanted to see if Venus could help, albeit indirectly by asking what she could do how her nation. Instead, Venus managed to piss her off, which we all know is fairly easy to do with Blanc.
The twins also have blame in this, but mostly Ram, since Venus managed to entertain her as she wanted. Please give Rom some slack, it's in her character to be strung along by her twin sister, and she was apologetic about what she did (not that Venus was able to see that, which will probably cause contention later). Plus, Rom is my favorite of the two twins, though that is a more personal reason to ask to give her slack. Really though, they're kids so they probably don't know any better.
Now with that said, let's talk about the chapter itself. There are two main parts to this (mostly because I had two ideas that I found would be best to put into one chapter). The first part I'd like to talk about, I wanted Blanc to show Venus something Nepgear made for her, and then she gets mad at Venus. Well, there actually is more to that idea, but I can't say what the full idea is without revealing later details of the plot you shouldn't know yet.
Now, the question was... what did Nepgear make? I was going back and forth on this, until I remembered... didn't the twins have a robot that was a Yoshi parody in the manga? That's where Pyoshi came in.
So, to explain what Pyoshi's role was in the manga, the chapter story was that Neptune was visiting Lowee, and had some snacks made for her, but Rom and Ram ate them all before she could get any. She got upset, so Blanc attempted to give her more snacks to make her happy, but Neptune kept refusing them. Blanc got super frustrated by this, up until Nepgear arrived and revealed the Neptune actually had a cavity, and that's why she was upset and refusing food. Point is, Rom and Ram brought in Pyoshi to make some food for Neptune (the same egg-shaped cookies made in this chapter). And Blanc got a tiny bit disturbed by what end the cookies were coming out from.
Now, something I need you to be aware of about Pyoshi, in the manga it is not actually Nepgear's creation. The twins use a summoning disk to bring him in, and described him as a "Pokkit Monster", clearly being a Pokemon parody. (I can't say for sure why didn't use "Pocketed Monstrosities", which is already known as Hyperdimension's Pokemon parody, but maybe it's because Pocketed Monstrosities is the parody game, and Pyoshi the Pokkit Monster is an actual thing in the world.) This the manga aren't canon to the games, I decided to make Pyoshi something Nepgear made for the sake of the story. Also, I made him green, because... well, it's a manga, so it isn't colored, meaning Pyoshi doesn't have a color, so since he's a Yoshi parody, green made sense.
Going onto the second part, it has to with Venus's shield. I didn't come up with the idea of Loweenium, I saw it in some other fanfics, but I liked the idea, and when I decided what Venus's choice of weapons would be, Loweenium came to mind for her shield, so I decided to make my own take on it. But Venus isn't a Lowee goddess, so I needed a reason as to why she'd get a Loweean-made shield. That is what led to her first shield breaking last chapter, and their reason for visiting Lowee this chapter. From there, I realized this would be a good time to use the robot plot point I just talked about.
To explain what Loweenium is in concept, it's based on "Nintendium", obviously a fan-made parody of that concept, considering Lowee goddesses represent Nintendo. Nintendium is... well, I've heard two things it could be. The first idea that I've personally heard (I just don't remember from where) is that it's the material important objects in Nintendo games are made out of, such as the Ocarina of Time from the Legend of Zelda, and it only breaks when the plot demands it. The more prevalent idea that I've begun to hear more recently is that it's what Nintendo consoles are made from, since they tend to be incredibly durable and last a long time from general wear-and-tear (most of the time... Joycon drift...)
So, for my take on it, I thought it would be a good idea to use Nintendium for both Loweean consoles and armor. But I realized a problem with that. If the armor was supposed to be some of the best you could get, then it should be hard to get. But the game consoles should common, so the material couldn't be THAT expensive (I mean, I guess there is the thing where in the past, Nintendo was accused of limiting supply, which could be a neat reference... except realistically, in world, that could hurt Blanc's Shares). My solution... the material is common enough to be made into consoles, making them durable for everyday use, but if you want to make it battle capable, you have to go the extra mile, which is more difficult, but worth it.
So, one last side note, I mentioned last chapter that Venus's combat style was partially based on Link from the Legend of Zelda, and I mentioned how much I liked the shield parry move. Well, while we don't get to see it, Venus does use it this chapter (I'm thinking of having her use it next chapter to rectify this). Rom even uses the game to compare it to Blanc.
Now, I called the lead character a "heroine", not a hero. The reason why is because, as I alluded to before, the games in Hyperdimension are parodies of the real games we play. So, "heroine" was my way of making it seem different, as was the reason I didn't give a name to the parody game. I guess, as an extra side reason, I am one of those people who'd like to see a proper female Link (don't get me wrong, I love Linkle in Hyrule Warriors, but it's not exactly what we're really wanting to see). But that last thing doesn't really matter for this story, so it's whatever.
