A/N: Hey guys, it's been a while, sorry. But I have to thank the reviews, you guys are awesome! Hope you enjoy this chapter and let me know what you think! See ya
After partying all night, Katherine finally went to see what Caroline wanted and entered the Mikaelson mansion. Wearing shades, the brunette swiftly nabbed a huge glass of blood, going to the training room where all the vampires and baby hybrids were. Rebekah, Stefan, and Caroline froze upon seeing her and even Elijah seemed preoccupied, but soon returned his attention to his brother's hybrids and the explanation he was given them. Klaus looked bored but was waiting patiently for his brother to finish his explanation part, so that they could get to the fun part. The blondes approached Katherine, looking at her warily.
"I'm fine. Don't need to worry." She said dismissively finishing her drink and heard the snorts that came from them.
"Sure you are. Well then. It seems my brother finished his incredible explanation. Can we move to the best part? I'm gonna fight Caroline, Klaus and Stefan can bond in the meantime and you can train with my brother, Elena. He'll definitely go easy on you." Rebekah said, ignoring the glare Caroline gave her until she concluded her thought and said barbie-vampire was smiling ear to ear. Katherine gulped and her face blanched. Elena was only looking at the training while eating some mac and cheese, and the smell was not the greatest to the former doppelganger.
"Excellent idea, sister. Come now, Stefan. Let's show them how it's done." Forcing a smile, the former ripper glanced worriedly at Katherine who returned his hesitant smile before turning around and going straight to Elijah who flashed in front of her.
"Elena... Can we talk about last night?" His voice was soft, and he looked so worried. She wanted to just scream that she was happy and that she was actually the woman he loved. Instead, she just took a deep breath taking off her shades and focused on him.
"We are here to train, and if I'm being honest... I need this. Let's go." Her reply came out weak and seemed frustrated enough to not raise suspicions about her. Nodding his head, he lead Katherine to another part of the room, where they would have a little bit more privacy.
"Okay... But I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for killing Damon."
"You're not sorry, you don't need to lie to me." He sighed, knowing she was right, but he still felt bad. Damon was Elena's boyfriend after all.
"You know what I meant Elena..." The brunette rolled her eyes and glared at him.
"Are we here to fight or to talk?"
"Why can't we do both?" He smirked and started circling around her like a predator playing with his prey. Narrowing her eyes, she sped towards him trying to kick him and blocked her, pushing her until her back collided with the wall. "Good... Where did you learn this?" Katherine blinked in confusion and frowned, moving around him to not be distracted by his closeness.
"Alaric. And movies. Seen a lot of them." She shrugged, getting in position to attack him again, while the older vampire nodded, his face remaining blank.
"Right... Well, you need to concentrate. It's clear as day why you're not in your best mindset to defeat me. But I assure you, you can do it."
"Yeah, it's easy for you to say that when you're the oldest vampire around. I'm a baby vamp, don't forget that." She snapped, feeling humiliated once again. She wasn't a baby vamp. She knew exactly how to defeat him. But she couldn't do that if he thought she was her boring doppelganger.
"Well, there's always the option of using any knowledge and weapons that you have to surprise your enemy." Katherine paused mid-step, her mind working faster and calculating what she could do without betraying her cover. Trying to punch him, she launched into a sequence of kicks and punches to distract him. Unfortunately, he wasn'tfalling for it and caught on, speeding them to the wall once more. Groaning, she jumped on him and they fell on the ground with her on top of him. Smiling, the brunette vampiress let her hands roam on his upper body, her right hand resting above his heart.
"Like this?" He nodded and flipped them in a second, his hand on her throat.
"But you need to be faster to kill." Huffing, Katherine slapped his hand away and challenged him.
"Okay, so… let's do it again." He smirked and started to hit her, or at least tried. He had no idea that she was so fast. She dodged him effortlessly and soon they were both panting until she stopped and tutted at him. "Come on, Elijah… You're supposed to catch me." She whispered in his ear and saw the way he froze. Using his surprise to her advantage, she flashed in front of him and thrusted her hand inside his chest getting his heart. The sharp intake of breath made her nearly let him go, but she needed to prove a point. Their faces were just inches apart, their breaths mingling and their noses brushing gently against each other. He touched her lips with his own softly, her eyes fluttering close and starting to reciprocate when she widened her eyes and let him go, blushing and saying that she heard Caroline call her. "We're done here, right?" Barely giving a chance for him to answer, she flashed away and left a very confused Original all alone.
Without Damon disturbing Katherine, she and Stefan became nearly inseparable, getting angry reactions from two Originals. They had become closer after Damon's death, which raised red flags in Rebekah's head. Poor insecure Rebekah... While she was worried that Katherine was going to steal Stefan from her, the brunette vampire was enjoying the way Elijah seemed drawn to her and kept trying to understand what was going on. On more than one occasion, the eldest Mikaelson almost got a confession from the doppelganger. But she enjoyed their cat and mouse game. She obviously was the cat. Their training sessions were intense and usually, Katherine was left with Elijah which amused her immensely, but at the same time made her nervous. She had seen the way Elijah studied her movements and the way she behaved. The vampiress wasn't a fool and rarely let herself fall out of character after her few provocations the first time around. All seemed okay until a call changed everything. Klaus said they needed to return to New Orleans, because they had a situation there, and Elijah used that opportunity to call his beloved Katerina.
"Can Elena come with us?" Katherine looked at her shadow self and half-smiled, crossing her arms.
"I'm supposed to start college... I can't go." Elena looked at her confused, and turned to Elijah making puppy-dog eyes at him.
"She's... Do you really want her there with us? I'll talk with Sophie or any other witch to try and bring back your memories, Katerina." He looked at the human brunette, while Katherine froze, eyes widening.
"She's been so nice to me, Elijah..." Glancing at her mirror self, Elena smiled sweetly. "Please, Elena!" Gulping, the vampiress didn't see a way out, and it was a perfect opportunity to try something against her doppelganger and stay with Elijah... Hopefully...
"Okay... I'll have time to start college any other time, anyway... When do we leave?"
"You have forty minutes." Klaus grumbled, displeased with the outcome. He only came back to Mystic Falls to catch a human Katerina and a bunch of hybrids and was returning with more people than he wanted. The only thing keeping him sane was the baby vampire who had agreed to delay college as well as her brunette friend, much to his annoyance. One doppelganger was problem enough... Two was basically asking for more trouble than they were worth.
They had barely entered the plantation when the front door opened and a very annoyed she-wolf appeared, looking furious. "You finally remembered you had a house?"
"Hayley?" Said young woman looked at the two girls who said her name and frowned.
"What the hell are you two doing here?" Katherine smirked and flashed inside the mansion, walking in like she owned it.
"I was invited, of course. Not that you could have known." She winked and plopped herself down on the couch. Soon, Caroline came in with Elena in tow and the shocked face of the wolf was enough to make Katherine giggle.
"Can someone explain what is going on?"
"Hayley... Be nice with our guests. Katerina is human now and asked for Elena's presence. Caroline is also going to stay with us." Elijah, the gentleman he is, always had the patience of a saint while explaining things to others. "Well... Katerina, please, come with me." Elena got up and waltzed to him, the two vanishing in seconds.
"Is it weird to think they are actually a cute couple?" Caroline asked, arching a brow at the three sets of disgusted faces that answered her question. "Come on!"
"Yes, come on. Let's drink. Rebekah, where can we go?" The older blonde lost her sour face in a second and the trio flashed to Rousseau's, the best place to drink in the Quarter. Curiously, the same place where Elena and Elijah were. "What are they doing here?"
"Sophie. They are here for her..." Rebekah answered, seeing the brunette witch walk in with Davina. The two witches would be able to tell what happened to the memory-less Katerina, or her brother would freak, of course. Before she could say anything else, a handsome dark-skinned vampire appeared, greeting Rebekah and fixing his gaze on Katherine after glancing at Caroline.
"Look what we have here... When my men said there were two doppelgangers in my city, I just couldn't believe it. I'm Marcel, and you must be Elena Gilbert. The newest doppelganger that Klaus used in his sacrifice." Katherine stiffened and nodded, uncomfortable with this conversation.
"You can leave, Marcel. We don't need your company. Why don't you go after my brother. He must be needing information." Rebekah dismissed him, rolling her eyes while the other two females just tried not to laugh out loud.
"You wound me Rebekah. I thought we had something."
"Yes, a hundred years ago. You moved on, I moved on. We're alive." She fake smiled at him and beckoned her friend away, leaving him alone. Katherine looked to the side, but Elijah and Elena were nowhere to be seen and she froze, feeling nervous. Where the hell were they?
At the back door, Davina and Sophie were preparing everything for the spell Elijah wanted them to perform. The older witch was confused. It seemed simple, but nothing was ever simple with the Mikaelson family... She knew that. Still, she knew they were kind of loyal and were helping her, so... She was willing to take a leap of faith. "Tell me again, why you want her to remember everything?"
"Because I need her to remember everything. She's not complete." Nodding, Sophie chanted softly and all the candles that Davina had put out came to life, startling the human girl who grabbed Elijah's hand. "Don't worry, Katerina... No one will hurt you."
Linking hands, both witches started to chant and the wind gusted in the room, but just as suddenly as it started, it stopped and Sophie gently came to Elena, putting both hands on her face and whispered a few words that the brunette didn't understand. Sophie frowned and glanced at Elijah with a blank face. "Whatever you're looking for... It's not here. She's not who you want. Now, you promised to leave us alone. I suggest you keep your end of the deal and we will keep ours." The two witches left Elena and Elijah alone, with the human looking completely lost.
"Elijah...?"
