(I just wanted to thank you Ghouly-girl for your comment, it actually helped me write this chapter. I've had it in my drafts for a bit and I finally went and finished it!)
When Vivian got back to her room, she couldn't sleep. Something was making her stay awake and suddenly she heard someone speaking.
"Follow me." Vivian looked around wildly and didn't hear anything but then heard it again. "Follow me." It was getting louder and she walked to her door and stepped out in the hallway. What she saw made her blood run cold. It was Pike standing there, bloody, disfigured. "Follow me."
Vivian quickly ran down to the Medbay and went straight to Bones. "Something is wrong with me, very wrong." She whispered harshly as she stood in front of him. His eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"What's going on, Vivian?" He asked, reaching out to grab her shoulder.
"I'm seeing things. I don't.. Maybe it's because I haven't slept? I don't know anymore." She rubbed her face as she heard it again.
"Follow me." Vivian jumped and spun around to see Pike again, in the door of the Medbay, still horribly disfigured, bleeding everywhere.
"What are you seeing?" Bones asked, looking to where she was staring and back to her.
"I'm seeing.. Pike. He's horribly bloody and disfigured.. his voice is distorted and he keeps telling me to follow him." She muttered in quiet horror as she kept her eyes on him in case he moved.
"Viv.. sit down on one of the gurneys." He told her. She shook her head.
"I'm afraid what will happen if I take my eyes off of him. Maybes it's a figment of my imagination but he's not Pike.. Somethings wrong. It doesn't have Pikes voice." As she said this, Spock walked in, walking through Pike, and cocked his eyebrow at her.
"Vivian, I had assumed you were going to sleep." He said passively as he walked towards her. Vivian looked past his shoulder but Pike was gone suddenly. Spock glanced back but saw nothing.
"Follow me." Vivian jumped again, stumbling as she turned her head to look at Pike again on her left side. Spock grabbed her shoulder to balance her and he looked at her confused.
"She's not feeling great." Bones glanced to her nervously.
"Spock, you can see memories, thoughts, things like that if you mind meld with someone, right?" Vivian asked as she stared at Pike. Spock slowly nodded.
"Yes but I do not understand-"
"Mind meld with me, I need to show you what I'm seeing." Spock was silent for a moment. "Please." She begged. Finally he slowly nodded.
"Alright." As his fingers came to rest on her face, she shoved the vision of the bloody disfigured Pike to the forefront of her mind. "Admiral Pike.." he muttered. His hand quickly withdrew from her face as he glanced to the spot Pike was standing in her mind.
"You saw him??" Bones asked he stared in astonishment at Spock.
"Indeed.. However the Admiral looked slightly decomposed.." Spock trailed off. "Are you seeing him right now?" He asked Vivian.
"Yes. He keeps repeating the same thing, to follow him but his voice isn't the same." She told him.
"Follow me." Pike spoke again and this time Spock flinched.
"Now that we have connected through a mind meld.. I can hear him. The voice coming from him is distorted and.. disturbing if I am honest." Bones rubbed his eyes.
"What does this mean? Are you seeing her hallucinations?" He asked him.
"I highly doubt these are hallucinations Doctor.." Spock looked to Vivian as both bones and her glanced at him in surprise.
"How do you figure?" Bones asked as he started scanning Vivians vitals.
"I do not know but I am quite certain that if it was a hallucination that I would not be able to see it in her thoughts." He reasoned. "But we cannot know unless we see Nurse Miller's brain waves."
"I can hook up a monitor to see her brain waves and if she's have auditory and visual hallucinations, a certain part of her brain will spike. If not, then I don't know what to make of this." He trailed off finally then spoke again. "You need to tell him." He told Vivian.
"Tell me what?" Spock asked as he glanced between Vivian and Bones.
"I... This isn't the first weird thing that's been happening to me. I've been having memories from a different life, or something along those lines. It started when I was 10 and after that I was diagnosed with Cotards Syndrome." She told him.
"How did that diagnosis come from.. supposed memories of a past life?" He asked. She sighed.
"Because the first memory that I ever remembered was of me-her.. being murdered." Spock was quiet for a moment.
"Show me." He told her. She nodded and thought back to the memories and waited as Spock sat quietly for a moment and digested it.
"Who is he?" Spocks tone was soft as he asked her. Vivian shook her head.
"I don't know and I don't know if I want to.. he killed me- her-my past self and all those other people. He's a monster."
"I could not see his face during those visions, it was as if his face was blurred, but I could distinguish yours when you stared in the mirror." Spock stood up and grabbed a pen and paper and quickly began sketching. When he was done he slid it forward on the table for Bones and Vivian to see. It was almost identical to her past self.
"This is what she looked like? Lilian, you said her name was?" Bones asked as he glanced to her. Vivian nodded her head. "Well could we possibly run this sketch through a database of missing persons to try to get a match? We have a name too so it wouldn't be nearly as impossible."
"Possibly.." Spock muttered. "But if this man William, decided to leave her body out in the open to find, or if someone has found the body.. then she would be in the deceased records and substantially harder to find. We would need a last name in order to find a death certificate which we do not have as of now, and I highly doubt we would match her face to any obituary records."
"Hmm.. Then let's hope that she has a missing persons record." Bones muttered.
"Follow me, Follow me. I have something to show you." Vivian jumped as Pike appeared once again and as she looked to where Spock and Bones were, found no one.
"You want me to follow you? Fine." She stood up and he swiftly turned around and started walking away as Vivian trailed after him. No one was around as they walked and finally she made her way to the brig where Pike stood in front of the room that Khan was supposed to be in but instead of Khan was a plethora of women and men. "Who.. are they?" Vivian whispered as she glanced to Pike.
"They're his victims, so am I." Vivian turned her attention back to the voice and stared at Lilian who stood in front, behind the glass.
"Lilian." She uttered surprised.
"Hi, Vivian.. or should I say, me?" Vivian tilted her head.
"Are you and I the same?" She asked. Lilian shrugged.
"I'm not sure.. You have my memories, some of my mannerisms, but you don't look like me.. You're not entirely me. It's as confusing for me as it is you.. What I do know is that, that's not Pike." Her eyes darkened as she stared at Pike who stood next to her. Vivian took a few steps away from him hastily as he stared at her.
"Who is he?" She whispered as she started walking backwards to the glass as Pike took a step forward.
"What is it, is the better question." Lilian told her, her voice strained. Pikes eyes started glowing bright as his form started to get blurry.
"Why'd it bring me to you? I thought it was Pike trying to tell me something, I don't understand." Vivian spoke quickly, panicked.
"Vivian wake up." Lilian told her urgently. "Wake up now."
"I don't know how!" Vivians panic started growing as he got closer slowly. Finally her back was flat against the back. Lilians hand slammed against the glass.
"What do you want with her?! With all of us?!" She shouted at the approaching form. "The only thing we all have in common is William, Viv you have to wake up and figure it out. Find William." She told her firmly.
"How am I supposed to find him?" She asked, not taking her eyes off the form getting closer. "What's his last name?" She asked.
"It's-" Lilian didn't get a chance to answer as Vivians sight got blurry and she blinked rapidly, trying to focus and as she opened her eyes once again, Spock, Bones, and Kirk stood in front of her all wearing identical looks of concern. She was still in the brig.
"What- where'd it go?" Vivian asked.
"Who were you speaking to, Nurse Miller?" A deep voice spoke out and she stumbled back as she turned around, Harrison standing in the containment room.
"You just.. zoned out and started talking. We followed you down here and you kept talking." Bones told her.
"What the hell is happening?" Kirk asked all of them. Spock simply stared at her as the fresh memories ran through her mind.
"That is.. concerning." He muttered as he saw it too.
"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" Kirk asked. They all turned to him finally as Vivian sighed.
"So much for no one else knowing.."
30 minutes later they sat in the Medbay together as Kirk processed this information. "So it wasn't Pike? Why'd he take the form of Pike?" He asked out loud, musing.
"It would seem, to gain the trust of Vivian." Spock theorized. "Whatever connection Vivian has with those women and men who were murdered, especially Lilian, is what it was after.. or at least that is what I assume."
"So we need to find William? How are we supposed to find him? This is crazy.." Kirk dragged his hand down his face.
"You mean you don't believe me?" Vivian asked.
"No, I believe you, that's the thing. As crazy as it sounds, there's overwhelming evidence, especially with Spock being able to see all of this too. Are you okay though, Vivian?" He asked in concern.
"Besides seeing dead people? I'm fine."She muttered with a sigh. "Or whatever that was pretending to be Pike.."
"Once we get Harrison back to Earth, we'll get this whole thing figured out, alright?" Kirk told her comfortingly. Vivian sat quietly for a moment before speaking.
"Not to change the subject but.. I have a feeling that Harrison isn't as sinister as he's being made out to be." She told him. Kirk's mouth dropped.
"How can you say that?! He killed your grandfather!" Kirk slammed his hand on the table but she wasn't about to back down.
"I'm not saying what he did wasn't wrong but.. something isn't right here Kirk, and you know it. There was exactly one casualty at the Archive and he even said that Pike wasn't his intended target. So who is?" Kirk was silent as he stared at her, along with Bones and Spock.
"Why are you defending him?" Spock finally asked, his face a mask to others but she could see the irritation building up.
"I never said I was, but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. Do you think he's really trying to cause havoc for no purpose?" Kirk sighed at this.
"Your faith in other people inspires and shocks me, Viv." He chuckled quietly.
"You're too pure, that's gonna be your downfall." Bones grumbled out. Vivian rolled her eyes.
"Too pure? Really?" She squinted at him as she stuck out her tongue.
"I mean he's right, remember that time I was talking about that threesome and-" Vivians face went bright red.
"Alright! That's enough speaking Kirk."she told him hastily, glancing to Spock in embarrassment who cocked his head to the side at her. Kirk looked back and forth from Spock to Vivian.
"Oh he doesn't know." Kirk gave a mischievous smirk and Vivian let out a screech.
"Don't you DARE, James Tiberius Kirk!"
"What do I not know?" Spock raised an eyebrow. Bones smirked and glanced at Kirk who glanced back at him.
"Vivian here hasn't been deflowered." Vivian stared at him with a slight smile but it was far from comforting. Bones started snickering as Kirk looked at her worriedly.
"I think you should look over your shoulder from now on.." Bones teased him.
"Deflowered?" Spock asked, confused. Kirk groaned as he put his head in his hands.
"How do you not know that term??" He asked exasperated.
"Vulcans do not have metaphors." He told him plainly.
"I'm walking away from this conversation." Vivian jumped up quickly and quickly kissed Spock's cheek. "I'm gonna go try and sleep finally.. If anything else happens, I'll let you guys know."
[Spocks POV]
They watched her leave and a flicker of concern spiked in Spock's mind as he watched her. "What do you think of this predicament that Vivian faces?" Spock finally asked as he turned back to Kirk and Bones.
"I'm scared for her and I'm afraid she's going to try to do this on her own." Kirk told him honestly. "I don't know how you think of it, but I believe that Lilian is a past version of our Vivian and I think she'll go to a great length to make sure he's caught."
"Even if it means risking her current life." Bones muttered. "This person didn't just murder her, he murdered hundreds of innocents and she's always been big on lying her life on the line to make sure someone else's is safe. She'll want those peoples lives to have meant something."
"If I am right," Spock started, thinking back to the memories he had seen in Vivians thoughts. "This was roughly 23 years ago. The technology that I saw in her memories was consistent with the time period and the man I saw, even though I could not see his face was agile, spry, smooth hands. I'd say he was in his early 20's which means he would be alive and in his early to mid 40's now." They all seemed to be in thought about this. "He also seemed to be a person with great wealth judging by his home and his attire. Fitted suits made with expensive material."
"So we're talking about a psychopath who has power of some sort?" Bones face pulled in disgust. "This doesn't bode well for Viv if she tries to go after him. We don't even know who he is because you didn't get a look at his face, Spock. The only thing we got is a damn name."
"It doesn't matter, what matters is that we make sure we help her. She's going to go after him, even if we tell her not to and it'd be better to be by her side when she does. Who knows what mess she could get herself in if we don't." Kirk folded his hands together, resting his chin on them. "I just don't like any of this. Khan, then Viv.. and The Pike look-a-like."
"Neither do I, Captain." Spock told him, the same concerns running through his brain, too many questions with too little answers. "By the way, I wish to know what you meant when you said Nurse Miller had not been deflowered." Kirk grinned then.
[Vivian POV]
Vivian made a detour from her room to the brig, sighing as she did so. She didn't like lying to them but if they knew she was going to see Harrison and speak with him, they'd all have a hissy fit. For some reason, she couldn't seem to shake this weird feeling she had when she saw him. When she walked through the doors, his back was turned to the glass.
Harrison turned his head to the side to get a look at who was here and when he saw her, he turned fully to face her. "Ah, Nurse Miller. You're here finally.. and conscious this time as a bonus." His voice was deep and it commanded an audience.
Vivian shifted slightly as she glanced to him and then down. "Yea.. Sorry about that."
"Why are you here? To explain what happened earlier? Or is it," he grinned then. "Something else." Vivians eyes flashed up to him as she took a few steps forward, glaring at him dangerously.
"Why am I feeling this way towards you?" She asked him.
"How should I know, especially since I murdered your Grandfather." He smirked evilly as he paced back and forth. "I am the big bad wolf of the story, am I not?" Vivian cocked her head then as she clicked her tongue.
"No you're not." She told him simply. He stopped pacing and turned to her.
"How ever could you know that?" He challenged.
"I don't think you are, I think.. I don't know but I know you're not who Admiral Marcus is painting you out to be, John Harrison."
"My name is Khan." He told her, staring at her as she stared back. Vivian suddenly blinked and furrowed her brows.
"I feel like I knew that somehow." She quietly muttered.
"Just like you intuitively know that I'm not here to hurt anyone. You feel the pull towards me that I have been feeling since I laid my eyes upon you." He stopped then. "What is your relationship with Mr. Spock?" His question was sudden and out of the blue.
"I- we're in a relationship. Which is another reason why I hate whatever this is." She ran a hand through her hair. "I feel this way towards Spock too so why am I feeling it towards you?"
"You're his mated." He stated. Vivian nodded.
"How did you know that?" She asked.
"Because you are also mine. When you I saw you, I instinctively knew. I'm sure Spock did as well.. This is an inconvenience as I do not care for sharing." He told her sharply.
"How is this even possible?" Vivian groaned as she rubbed her face.
"You seem to be a rather special person." Khan commented.
"Id like it if I wasn't." Vivian muttered. They stood in silence for a moment before Khan asked her the question she knew was coming.
"What was that earlier? Sleep walking and talking? Your Doctor and the Vulcan mentioned you had simply started talking to yourself in the midsts of a conversation." He asked as he examined her with a focus of a thousand suns.
"The answer is convoluted and long, it's something.. It's something even I question."she hesitantly told him, wringing her hands. He held his hand up against the glass and for a moment, Vivian felt like she could tell him anything in the world and she had to remind herself that right now, he was the enemy.. For however long that lasted.
"I will not judge." Vivian broke down then and finally told him. When she was done explaining everything to him, he stood there silently for a moment.
"You don't believe me?" She looked at him worriedly as he quickly shook his head no.
"I believe you, Vivian." The way he said her voice gave her chills. "I will make sure you have your revenge." His tone was dark as he spoke and she stared at him silently. "But for now, you must try to sleep." He told her. "There is still a lot to come and we must be prepared." She slowly nodded at him.
"Can I trust you, Khan? Trust you not to hurt anyone, to come back to me?" He stood silent then chuckled.
"I could not risk the opportunity to touch your delicate skin. I promised you I would help you get revenge and I plan on keeping that promise."
"You had different intentions at first, didn't you?" It was almost a statement rather then an accusation.
"Initially. You threw my plans off, Vivian Miller. I am not.. fond of the human species and you will know in time why, but until then.. Sleep while you can."
