Chapter 6. Epilogue
Draco was tickled awake by a sea of fragrant chestnut curls. Hermione's hair had quickly become one of his favorite ways to wake up, it had been 9 months since he no longer had to seek out a purpose to open his eyes in the morning. He remembered that first day they came out together from their quarters, hand in hand and sat together in the Great Hall, a collective gasp could be hear throughout the school.
Harry and Ron met with her in Hogsmeade the very next Saturday to personally make sure she wasn't Imperiused. Draco wished he could have seen their faces when she broke the news to them. Blaise did tell him Ron had turned a particular shade of puce and had almost gotten thrown out of the Three Broomsticks for the ruckus.
Soon after that there was no doubt in anyone's mind they were disgustingly in love with each other, they seemed joined at the hip, and even when they would only share chaste kisses around others, everyone would notice the desire behind their casual caresses, their longing stares and the occasional state of disarray they would arrive in between classes.
Quickies in between classes had become somewhat of a sport in it of itself for the both of them, seeing who could make the over climax the fastest.
This had definitely been the best school year of his life, the bullying had completely stopped, Gryffindors started to actually like him, if only because he seemed to make their Golden Girl so happy. Hermione seemed like an entirely different person, she was witty, she laughed, goofed around, and to Draco's delight she was marvelously sarcastic. She was still the smartest witch in her year, but she would never be referred to as stuck up anymore. Blaise and Theo would joke around saying that stick had finally been properly fucked right out of her ass.
He tightened his grip around the witch's waist. Inhaling as deeply as he could.
"Five more minutes..." She whined softly, even though she purposely rubbed her bare bottom on his very awake member, he growled and pulled her tighter to him.
She reached for her wand and Scourgified her teeth and Draco's to his surprise, before kissing him softly while he chuckled.
At that moment an owl flew in through their window, Draco sat up and it dropped an envelope on his lap.
"What's that?" Asked Hermione curious, it didn't seem like a letter from Narcissa.
Draco saw the sender and opened it quickly. His face lit up! "I got in! Hermione, I got into the experimental healer program at St. Mungos."
"You want to be a healer? Why didn't you ever tell me? I thought you were going to work for the Ministry." She was slightly disconcerted.
He was still rereading the letter over and over again in disbelief. "I didn't think I'd get in the program, it's a mix of muggle science and magic, I'll even get to study for a while in Oxford University, they think it may help us better understand how to revert magical memory loss. My muggle studies have always been lacking, but I've been cramming extra hard this year to pass this entrance exam and I did!"
Hermione's jaw went slack. "You want to revert magical memory loss?" She had told him about her parents during their first week together, and he had been particularly quiet about the subject.
He was still rereading the letter so he answered without much thinking. "How else am I going to get your father to walk you down the aisle when we marry? Not to mention the Longbottoms..." He was abruptly cut off by a blistering kiss.
She held his face tightly in her hands, her eyes shinning with tears. "You wonderful brilliant man! Of course I'll marry you!"
Now his jaw went slack. "What?! You're serious?! Oh, thank Merlin!" He kissed her passionately. "I just fucked the whole grand proposal I had planned for a few years from now, but who cares? You said YES!" He gave her a quick tight hug before turning and opening his bedside drawer. He extracted the ring box and opened it. "This ring is yours if you want it, it used to be my grandmother's. She was a horrible woman who would be turning in her grave if a Muggleborn ever so much as touched it, so I personally feel a malicious glee about you wearing it... But if you so prefer we could get you another one."
He slipped the giant ring on her finger, it was so early it hadn't even occurred to Draco that they had actually never discussed marriage before, even though during the holidays he had taken Hermione to his country house (avoiding his Manor entirely for good measure, but still being under house arrest) to formally meet his mother. She had given him her blessing and his grandmother's ring that day.
Hermione looked at the huge extravagant diamond surrounded by emeralds in a band white gold and more diamonds, placed on her left hand, she could picture generations of purebloods writhing in anger at her audacity as she proudly wore it and smiled. "I love it."
