A Different Rebellion

Kings Landing – 301 A.C

One week later…

Jamie Lannister was stood at the base of the steps leading up to the Iron Throne where Rhaegar was seated with an angry look on his face.

The cause of his anger was Tywin Lannister who was sacking Kings Landing at this moment after falsely claiming to have come to Kings Landing to help the Targaryan's.

While Varys the Spymaster had told Rhaegar not to trust Tywin Grand Maester Pycelle had vouched for the Warden Of The Westerlands and Rhaegar had opened the gates.

After several seconds of silence Rhaegar sharply turned to face Jamie Lannister.

"Ser Jamie" barked Rhaegar full of anger.

Jamie Lannister took a step towards the Iron Throne and bowed his head.

"Your Grace?" said Jamie dutifully.

Rhaegar remained silent for a moment as he managed a cruel smirk.

"Your Father has committed a great treason against me… I command you to bring him before me… where he will be executed" said Rhaegar snidely.

Jamie Lannister froze up as he heard those words.

"Your Grace?" said Jamie in shock.

"Bring your Father to me Ser Jamie… NOW!" roared Rhaegar.

Jamie Lannister remained still for a few moments as he made his choice.

He started advancing up the steps to the Iron Throne drawing his longsword in the process.

Rhaegar looked at him with a slightly fearful look in his eyes.

"What are you doing?" said Rhaegar sounding a little fearful.

Jamie Lannister cocked his head at the King.

"Putting an end to this madness" said Jamie confidently.

Not giving Rhaegar any more time Jamie Lannister raised his sword and brought it down in a powerful arc slashing Rhaegar right down his chest mortally wounding him.

Rhaegar looked up at him in shock as the life faded from his eyes and he bled out on the Iron Throne.

From that moment until the end of time. Ser Jamie Lannister would be forever known as the Kingslayer. The man who murdered the King he was sworn to protect while his Father sacked the city.

Jamie Lannister remained still for several moments before turning around and walking out of the Throne Room.

Ten minutes later…

Margaery held her crying Son Aemon Targaryan close to her chest as she moved back towards the wall with total fear etched on her face.

Ser Armory Lorch was moving towards her with a long bladed dagger in his hand and a sadistic smirk on his face.

"Give me the child… or I will make it very painful for the both of you" said Armory Lorch cruelly as though he was enjoying Margaery's fear.

"Get away from us!" screamed Margaery as she quickly put Aemon Targaryan down and moved him behind her trying to protect him.

Armory Lorch let out an evil cackle before moving closer to her.

"You can watch as I mutilate the little dragonspawn then… I hope he screams" said Armory Lorch sadistically moving towards Margaery.

Margaery stood firm trying to remain as brave as possible before her heart froze as Armory Lorch was suddenly stopped in his tracks as he let out a pained gasp.

She watched as a blood soaked sword pushed its way out of Armory Lorch's stomach as a figure appeared behind him.

Jamie Lannister.

"You made a grave mistake Lorch" said Jamie snidely as Armory Lorch gasped and choked on his own blood.

Jamie Lannister swiftly pulled his sword out of Armory Lorch letting him drop to the ground.

Margaery still breathing heavily looked at Jamie Lannister with relief in her eyes.

"Ser Jamie" said Margaery in shock.

Jamie Lannister sheathed his sword before walking towards her.

"Your safe now Princess, no one will harm you or the Prince while I stand" said Jamie standing in front of her in a protective manner.

Margaery slowly started to calm down before she picked Aemon Targaryan up who slowly started to cease his crying.

Half an hour later…

Jon and the other Northmen followed Ned into the Throne Room which was decorated with Lannister banners.

A continuing sign telling all of them exactly what had happened to Kings Landing before they arrived where they had found dead bodies littering the streets along with even more Lannister banners most of which had blood on them.

As they walked through the Throne Room they saw Tywin Lannister stood at the top of the steps next to the now empty Iron Throne with a cold look on his face.

In the corner of the Throne Room stood Jamie Lannister who was still protecting Margaery and Aemon Targaryan with his eyes glancing around the room at all times.

Lying face down at the base of the steps was Rhaegar Targaryan who was covered in blood while three more bodies were laid on the opposite end of the steps at Gregor "the Mountain" Clegane's feet.

Ned was almost sick when he laid eyes on the bodies which were lying on Lannister banners.

Princess Arianne was soaked in blood while there was blood and remnants of a man's seed on her thighs indicating that she had been raped.

The most horrifying thought however was that her face was all bruised like a butcher's meat table and she had been cut in half at the waist. Lying next to her were the bodies of her two children Aenar aged five whose skull had been crushed to the point where he was more or less unrecognisable, and Daemon aged three who had been bashed against a wall repeatedly leaving him a bloody mess of blood and guts.

Ned looked down at the bodies in horror before looking up at Tywin Lannister.

"What have you done Lannister?" said Ned in shock.

Tywin Lannister did not seem fazed by Ned's words.

"Only what was necessary Lord Stark… now the war is over and it is time to crown our new King Joffrey Baratheon… anyone who refuses will be killed and replaced with loyal Lords" said Tywin coldly.

Jon moved to retort before Ned stopped him.

Ned cleared his throat.

"Your King can have his fealty from the North… provided he and any of his kin never set foot on Northern territory ever again" said Ned flatly.

Tywin Lannister gritted his teeth in frustration for a good minute as he thought about Ned's words.

Losing the North could be devastating for the Throne as it was the largest of all the kingdoms and produced essential goods such as Ironwood found nowhere else in Westeros.

While he was thinking about it several Northerners moved over to Ned and Jon intent on guarding and protecting them from a possible Lannister attack.

After several moments Tywin Lannister stiffly nodded.

"Very well Lord Stark… our King will accept your pledge of fealty" said Tywin flatly.

Ned and the other Northerners turned around and walked out of the Throne Room.

Most of the other Lords followed the Northerners apart from Joffrey and Sandor Clegane who walked towards the Iron Throne while some of the Lannister Soldiers closed the doors.

After several seconds Tywin Lannister turned to Jamie Lannister with a cold calculating look on his face.

"Its time we finished this properly… Jamie, kill the child and secure the throne for Joffrey" said Tywin coldly.

Margaery felt her heart drop as Jamie Lannister glanced at her for a few moments before turning away.

"No" said Jamie.

"Kill the child now Jamie… or stand aside and let Ser Gregor do it" said Tywin coldly.

Margaery gasped with fear as she watched Gregor Clegane walk towards them.

"No" said Jamie defiantly drawing his sword.

"Then step aside now Uncle… let Ser Gregor rid the kingdoms of the Targaryan whelp" said Joffrey snidely.

Jamie Lannister stood his ground while Gregor Clegane came to a halt several feet away from him.

"I will kill any man who wishes harm upon these two" said Jamie defiantly.

"Stop this nonsense and move aside Jamie!" barked Tywin.

Jamie glanced up at Tywin.

"No Father… I am a knight, and knights are supposed to protect the innocent" said Jamie defiantly.

"You are a Kingsguard Uncle… sworn to serve me, and I order you to kill that whelp" snarled Joffrey.

Jamie looked over at Joffrey with a sad look on his face as he sheathed his sword.

The boy who he had sired on his own twin Sister Cersei Lannister just as he had done for their younger children Myrcella and Tommen. The Son who had no idea that the Uncle he was talking to was in fact his own Father.

"You are no king of mine" said Jamie defiantly.

He quickly turned around and grabbed hold of Margaery who was holding Aemon in her arms before the two ran out of the back door of the Throne Room.

Twenty five minutes later…

Jamie Lannister and Margaery finally reached the docks where a small row boat was tied to the dock.

They had been chased out of the Red Keep and through the city though they managed to lose most of their attackers in Flea Bottom while Jamie cut the rest down without hesitation.

"Get in" said Jamie quickly as he untied the ropes.

Margaery climbed down into the boat with Aemon Targaryan before Jamie followed her and pushed the boat away from the dock.

"Where are you taking me?" said Margaery nervously glancing around for their attackers while she held her Son close to her.

"Somewhere safe" said Jamie as he readied the oars and started to row.

"Nowhere is safe for me or my Son" said Margaery.

Jamie sighed.

"We will go to Gulltown… from there we can find a ship to Essos, I can keep you safe once we are there" said Jamie.

Margaery held her Son tightly.

"Why are you doing this Ser Jamie… why did you betray your family for us?" said Margaery flatly.

Jamie glanced at her with a flat look on his face.

"I swore an oath to serve House Targaryan as a Kingsguard… and I intend to keep that oath" said Jamie flatly.

He picked a brown hooded cloak up from beneath his feet.

"Put that on … so no one recognises you" said Jamie handing the cloak to her.

Margaery kept quiet and put the cloak over herself and pulled the hood up as Jamie Lannister continued to row them towards the exit of the dock.

Half an hour later…

Jon walked over to where Smalljon Umber and Harrion Karstark were sat on the steps leading up to the Red Keep cleaning the blood off of their swords with damp cloths.

"Jon, Harrion" said Jon.

The two young men looked up at him and nodded.

"Will you ride with me?" said Jon.

"To where?" said Smalljon Umber.

"Dorne… near the Princes Pass" said Jon.

"Why?" said Harrion Karstark.

Jon sighed.

"I think that is where the Prince was keeping Arya" said Jon solemnly.

"How do you know that?" said Harrion Karstark warily.

"Varys told me" said Jon flatly.

Shortly after he had watched his Father and Stannis Baratheon sail out of the docks intent on capturing Dragonstone he was approached by Varys who gave him a cryptic clue about where to find Arya.

"That what you seek can be found at the Princes Pass… in a lonely red brick tower Young Lord Stark" said Varys who was stood in the shadows on the dock.

"And you trust him?" said Smalljon Umber in amused disbelief.

Jon nodded.

"I do not think I have another choice… we need to find her" said Jon.

Harrion Karstark sighed.

"The three of us cannot go alone" said Harrion Karstark.

Smalljon Umber nodded.

"We will take some of the others with us… Asher, Dacey, Eldric and Martyn" said Smalljon Umber causing Harrion Karstark to nod in agreement.

"We leave within the hour" said Jon.

Jon walked back up the steps into the Red Keep.

Dragonstone – 301 A.C

Thirteen days later…

Ned held Ice in one hand as he moved towards the doors leading to the main hall.

Within hours of the Sack Of Kings Landing Ned and Stannis Baratheon had commandeered some of the ships in the harbour and set off for Dragonstone to conquer the last stronghold of House Targaryan.

When they arrived on the island they had expected to be met with a small army defending the island but found it empty to their surprise.

What was even more surprising was that upon reaching the castle none of the doors were barred as they expected them to be with all of them opening with ease including the main hall doors.

The reason for the unlocked doors was in front of the steps leading up to the old Targaryan stone throne.

The Targaryan garrison at Dragonstone led by Jaehon Veleyron and his Uncle Ser Monfred Veleyron was stood in front of the steps leading up to the throne. To Ned's shock the lifeless bodies of Ser Willam Darry and Ser Jaecerys Veleyron were lying a few feet away from them dressed in their blood soaked tunics, breeches and cloaks while a bruised Daenerys Targaryan was on her knees in front of the garrison.

She had been stripped naked and beaten up with a gag in her mouth. Her hands and feet had been tied together while one of the Guards was holding onto a length of rope that was tied around her arms and chest.

"What is the meaning of this?" said Ned in shock.

Jaehon Veleyron sent him a creepy smile.

"We present you with a gift Lord Stark, on the condition that you accept our surrender and see to it that we are not punished for the crimes of House Targaryan" said Jaehon Veleyron in a creepy tone of voice.

Ned sheathed Ice and walked over to the dead body of Willam Darry.

Ned knelt down and removed the blood soaked grey cloak fastened to his shoulders before standing up.

"Let her go" said Ned bitterly towards the Guard holding onto the rope.

The Guard looked at Jaehon Veleyron who nodded.

Once the Guard had let go of the rope Ned took his dagger out and cut the rope that was securing her to the Guard.

He quickly placed the cloak around Daenerys who looked up at him in anger and hate.

"Your safe now Princess" said Ned softly as he picked her up in his arms and carried her away from the Men who had broken their oaths and betrayed her to save themselves.

"Lord Stannis" said Ned as he walked towards the Men who had come with him.

Stannis Baratheon took a step towards him.

"Put all of them in irons, we will decide their fate later" said Ned flatly.

"But we surrender My Lord" said Jaehon Veleyron in shock.

"You have broken your oaths and betrayed the Princess that you swore to protect, until I say so you will remain as prisoners, count yourselves lucky we have not hanged you as oathbreakers… or kinslayers Lord Veleyron" said Ned bitterly.

Stannis Baratheon nodded to his Guards who swiftly moved forwards and tackled the Dragonstone garrison to the ground.

Ned sighed as he carried Daenerys Targaryan out of the hall.

"Where are your chambers Princess?" said Ned solemnly.

Daenerys Targaryan did not answer and she glared at him.

Ned sighed.

"I am not your enemy Princess, I will not allow any harm to come to you" said Ned.

"You helped destroy my family, that makes you my enemy" said Daenerys Targaryan bitterly.

"Your Brother's burned my Brother and Nephew alive, your Nephew kidnapped my Niece, what would you have done to them if you were in my position?" said Ned harshly.

Daenerys Targaryan frowned.

"My chambers are just down that hallway there" said Daenerys Targaryan sadly as she nodded her head in the direction of one of the hallways.

Ned nodded and carried her along the hallway before she told him to stop as they reached her chambers.

Ned carried her inside and placed her on her feet before removing the rest of her bindings.

Her chambers were vast in size but dark with the only source of light coming from her lit hearth. They contained a large bed, a table and chairs and several chests and wardrobes.

"Pack your clothes and anything else you want to bring with you… I will have my men take them down to my ship" said Ned solemnly.

Daenerys Targaryan looked at him warily.

"And what will become of me now?" said Daenerys Targaryan flatly.

"How old are you Princess?" said Ned flatly.

"Almost 18" said Daenerys Targaryan flatly.

Ned nodded.

"You will return North with me… and marry my Son Willam, he is a few years younger than you and it may sound rather unappealing for you to marry him, but it will guarantee your safety from the Lannisters, none of them will be able to touch you in the North, I swear it by the Old Gods and the New" said Ned solemnly.

Daenerys Targaryan looked at him with a bitter look.

"You have not given me a good enough reason as to why I should marry him" said Daenerys Targaryan.

Ned sighed.

"If you do not marry him it puts you in danger from the Lannisters and my own countrymen, many of whom lost family fighting against your family, if you married into House Stark they would not touch you, you would be under the protection of House Stark, again I swear it by the Old Gods and the New" said Ned.

Daenerys Targaryan remained silent for several moments before nodding.

"Very well… but I ask that you turn away, so I may dress myself on my own until I need your help with my dress" said Daenerys Targaryan.

Ned nodded and turned away from her so he was facing the door.

After a few minutes Ned heard Daenerys Targaryan address him.

"You can look now"

Ned turned to face her and saw that she was dressed in her smallclothes holding onto a dark grey almost black dress.

"What do you need help with Princess?" said Ned.

"I need your help with the dress… and my boots" said Daenerys Targaryan flatly.

Ned nodded and moved over to her.

As he helped her step into her dress he caught sight of the rope marks on her wrists and ankles along with the bruises which were starting to turn darker in colour.

"I will have the Maester check those marks and bruises when we are on the ship" said Ned as he helped her lift her dress up.

"Thank you My Lord" said Daenerys Targaryan flatly.

Ned sighed.

"Do you fear me?" said Ned solemnly.

"What do you think?" said Daenerys Targaryan bitterly.

"I know you are scared… I would think it strange if you were not scared, but I am not the one you should be scared of, nor are any of the men who came here with me" said Ned solemnly.

"And I am supposed to take your word for that, the word of a man who helped butcher my Family, including two infant children and their Mother" said Daenerys Targaryan angrily.

Ned straightened up.

"No man from the North took part in the treachery that took place in Kings Landing, none of us would ever think of besmirching ourselves by murdering children" said Ned bitterly.

Daenerys Targaryan sighed.

"I am sorry if I offended you My Lord" said Daenerys Targaryan.

Ned sighed.

"Its alright Princess… just finish packing your things so we can leave" said Ned flatly.

Daenerys Targaryan put her boots on with Ned's help before moving over to the chests to pack her things.

Half an hour later…

Ned helped Daenerys Targaryan onto the ship.

"Go into the cabin… I will have the Maester sent to you shortly" said Ned solemnly.

Daenerys Targaryan walked away from him towards the cabin as Ned walked back down the ramp to where Stannis Baratheon was stood.

"And what do we tell the King My Lord?" said Stannis Baratheon.

Ned sighed.

"That House Stark claims Daenerys Targaryan as a hostage as payment for the losses we suffered at the hands of the Targaryan's" said Ned flatly.

Stannis Baratheon straightened up.

"The Lannisters will not like that" said Stannis Baratheon.

Ned scowled.

"Let them hate it… I will not see another Targaryan die at their hands" said Ned bitterly.

Stannis Baratheon nodded.

"And what of them?" said Stannis Baratheon glancing back at the chained Dragonstone garrison.

Ned sighed.

"Hang the Veleyrons for kinslaying… send the rest to the Wall" said Ned bitterly.

Stannis Baratheon turned away from him and walked back towards the Prisoners.

Winterfell – 301 A.C

Two weeks later…

Daenerys climbed down from the wheelhouse into a courtyard of angry faces.

All of the anger they were feeling was directed right at her.

An outsider. A traitor. The Daughter and Sister of two Mad Kings.

Whichever one you picked she knew it was true.

Ned dismounted his horse and walked over to her.

"I will have my Son show you to your chambers My Lady" said Ned solemnly.

Daenerys stayed quiet and followed Ned over to where Ashara was stood with Willam, Leyla, Roslyn and Melaro.

Ned wrapped Ashara in a hug and kissed her before greeting each of the children in turn.

Once he was done he turned back to Daenerys.

"My Lady… meet my Wife Lady Ashara Stark… our children Willam and Leyla, and our Nieces Melaro and Roslyn" said Ned kindly as he gestured to each of them in turn.

Daenerys remembering her manners curtsied to them but chose not to say anything.

"This is Daenerys Targaryan… she will be living here now" said Ned glancing at Daenerys briefly.

Ashara managed a small smile and moved closer to Daenerys.

"You look just like your Mother… only a lot younger" said Ashara softly.

Daenerys only managed a small smile but remained quiet obviously distrusting all of the Starks.

Ned turned to Willam.

"Willam… show Lady Daenerys to her chambers, on the third floor next to Melaro's chambers" said Ned.

Willam nodded.

"Yes Father" said Willam.

He made his way over to Daenerys who looked him up and down with an icy gaze.

"This way My Lady" said Willam gesturing towards the open doors of the main keep.

Daenerys nodded for him to lead her into the castle.

As she followed Willam into the castle Ned turned to the Guards who were standing by the wagon with their belongings.

"Take Lady Daenerys's belongings up to her chambers" said Ned.

The main Guard bowed his head to Ned.

"Yes Lord Stark… come on you lot, lets get these chests into the ladies chambers" said the Guard.

Ned walked back to Ashara and the others as four Guards started to unload the wagon.

Ten minutes later…

"These are your chambers here My Lady" said Willam opening the door for Daenerys.

"Thank you" said Daenerys curtly as she walked through the door into her chambers.

The room was fairly small but still had a warm snug feel to it with a large double bed with wolf fur sheets, a large wardrobe and two chests, a wash basin, chamberpot and a lit fireplace with a basket of wood beside it.

At the opposite end of the room to the door there was also a door leading out onto a small balcony which was shut at this moment.

"Is there anything else you require My Lady" said Willam politely.

Daenerys turned to him as she traced her hand on the sheets.

"No… thank you" said Daenerys stiffly ignoring how he addressed her as a Lady as opposed to a Princess.

Willam nodded.

"Very well… the Guards will be along shortly with your belongings, supper will not be served for a few hours yet" said Willam.

Daenerys slowly nodded her head to him.

"Also, remember to put a few logs in your fire before you go to sleep… so you can keep warm at night" said Willam politely.

"I will bear that in mind" said Daenerys icily.

Willam sighed.

"I will… see you at supper then My Lady" said Willam.

He walked out of the room and slowly shut the door.

Once the door was shut Daenerys sat down on her bed with a weary sigh thinking about what her life had come to for her to end up here.

As she absent mindedly traced her hand on the fur sheets there was a knock at the door.

"My Lady… we have your things" said the voice of the Guard from outside the door.

"Come in" said Daenerys flatly.

The door opened and four Guards walked into the room carrying four chests which were full of her clothes, books, jewellery and other personal items she had brought with her from Dragonstone.

Even thinking about Dragonstone made her long for the days before the war ripped the Seven Kingdoms apart.

The days where she was a Princess of the Seven Kingdoms surrounded by her friends and family. Not now where she is in a cold strange land surrounded by people who fought against her family in the war.

Following the Guards into the room was a young long brown haired woman who was around 18 years of age dressed in a common fur lined Northern dress.

"Who are you?" said Daenerys warily.

The young woman turned to Daenerys with a warm smile on her face.

"I am Ayla… your handmaiden, Lady Stark assigned me to you" said Ayla softly.

Ayla turned to the Guards.

"You boys can go now… I can take it from here" said Ayla.

The Guards immediately walked out of Daenerys's chambers shutting the door behind them.

Once they were gone Ayla moved over to one of the chests containing Daenerys's clothes.

"What are you doing?" said Daenerys standing up.

Ayla turned to her as she knelt down in front of one of the chests.

"Unpacking your clothes My Lady… Lady Stark assigned me to serve you, so lets start by getting you unpacked… then we can look at getting you some more… weather appropriate clothes" said Ayla softly as she pulled a nice sky blue Dornish style dress out of the chest and moved over to the wardrobe.

Daenerys slowly moved towards her to unpack her own clothes.
