Chapter 6: Thanks Kitty

For the next few days. Marinette was entertained by her friends. Alya made sure she was not alone for more than 10 minutes. She was incharge of giving the updates about the heroes and occasionally about Adrien.

Nino sent new songs, Mylene and Rose came up with activities, Juleka and Luka played some new tunes for her (most of them composed by Luka) and the comics by Marc and Nathaniel would keep her engaged for hours.

She had no restriction on food so enjoyed every bite of the treats made by her parents.

The night before surgery-

"Good night dear". Marinette's parents kissed her head. After they closed the door, only the lamp talked to her.

She lay on the bed and sighed, she folded her hands and felt her heart beat faster. She felt as if she was going to write an exam tomorrow.

"Whatever.. comes in my way, I'll face it. Time to be Ladybug for myself."

She sat back and closed her eyes.

In Agreste's mansion-

Adrien lay wide awake and stared at the ceiling. He wondered how how Marinette was. She was not just a good friend but a special one too. In addition, he missed his lady. He would certainly go meet if he knew where or who she was. He prayed that nothing happened to her.

He remembered that tomorrow was the surgery so he decided to go meet her as Cat Noir as he knew she liked him. Well that's what she said that day before her dad got akumatized into Weredad.

Maybe his encouragement might give her some bravery (which she already has) for the next day.

"Pop goes the black cat!" Cat Noir jumped on the rooftop as he used his staff to take a leap.

He landed near the window sill and gave a knock. Marinette blinked and looked around.

"May I come in,...milady?"

"W-who is i-it?" She asked to confirm.

The shadow opened the window and announced, "The infamous Cat Noir at your..um...window."

Marinette: "Uh hi..."

Cat Noir: "Hi, how are you doing?"

Marinette: "I'm good"

He narrowed his green eyes at the sweat drops on her forehead.

"Um.. I'm pretty nervous". She admitted.

Cat Noir: "About what?"

Marinette: " "Tomorrow I have a surgery so-"

Cat Noir: "So don't worry"

Marinette: "Huh?"

Cat Noir: "It will be successful ,100%!"

Marinette murmured: "As if it will happen if you say it"

"I happen to have sharp ears." The black cat flapped his ears and the girl turned rose pink.

"You don't have to worry about a thing."

She stared at him in a questioning manner.

"I don't think there are chances it will fail. I'm sure you will be fine. You know, I'll get you an ice cream! Yeah an ice cream!"

Marinette: "That's not necessary, Cat".

Cat Noir's pupils dilate and he replied in a warmer voice, "You remind me of Ladybug. She was really happy when I got her one. She felt better in almost an instant. Gimme a minute."

"No, Cat-"

He already left.

This time he came back with a chocolate ice cream.

Marinette: "You didn't get one for yourself?"

Cat Noir: "It's ok".

Marinette: "You know, this ice cream doesn't just contain chocolate and cream."

Cat Noir: "Mmmh?"

Marinette: "Your well wishes too"

Adrien smiled and leaned to plant a kiss on her forehead. Marinette almost lost the grip on her ice cream.

He smirked and Marinette managed to get out a few words.

"Thanks kitty".

She stared at the open window as the night was reigning Paris. Adrien went to sleep too.

The next day-

"It'll be ok."

Marinette breathed as she gazed at Mr and Mrs Dupain Cheng and her friends.

Everyone gave their wishes.

"We are all with you"

That was what Adrien said.

She knew it was all up to the surgeons now. After entering the room, the doctor said, "This will make you sleepy, don't worry."

He injected a serum and Marinette took a deep breath.

"I know you will heal me."

It felt like hours passed. Marinette woke up with a slight wave of breathlessness. She woke up to see the doctor's smile. He forwarded her hand and gestured her to hold it.

She held it slowly woke up.

Doctor: "How do you feel? No pain?"

Marinette: "No. I'm feeling fine."

Doctor: "Wonderful, now try to walk."

She took a deep breath and lifted jer legs off the bed and laid it down. She felt the cold floor. With the doctor's help she took one step after another.

She was able to walk. In happiness, she took a quick step and the doctor let go of her and opened the door.

Her family and friends stood up.

Everyone exclaimed: "MARINETTE!"

Her parents rushed and hugged her.

Tom: "Oh sweetie, it's a big success!"

Sabine: "Thank Goodness!"

Alya: "I knew nothing can harm my BFF even if it wanted to. Its miraculous!"

The besties hugged and Marinette glanced over to Adrien.

"Congratulations," He came closer, "You won your battle". She blushed and he embraced her making her freeze. After he let go, she managed a grateful beam.

After a week-

Cat Noir swung across the streets after getting an akuma alert. He located the victim, but what he saw left him speechless.

"Time to de-evilise!" The akuma catcher was shot out to catch the black butterfly. The black cat laid eyes on the girl.

"Bye bye, little butterfly"

He couldn't believe his eyes, his ears or his nose.

It was his Lady!

"LADYBUG!"

He leapt and gave her a tight hug, which she allowed unusually.

"Where have you been? I thought you became sick because of my ice cream and someone new came-"

She shushed him and replied,

"I just needed a break".

Cat Noir gazed for a while and nodded in understanding. "I get it".

"I won't abandon Paris as long as Hawkmoth is there". Her earrings flashed and she bid goodbye to her friend.

"Can't wait to see you again, milady."

"Thanks kitty, see ya!"
