Violet and Yellow

Chapter 5: Awakening
Zerav secretly hid behind the cherry blossom tree and with his heightened senses, listened to their conversation. He is annoyed that Louisa is with some guy and hearing him blabber about his pride as a knight annoyed him even more. When he heard that Louisa is his future wife he lost control of himself and unconsciously emitted his dark aura to the whole place and especially towards them. Shock was written all over Louisa's face but he remained looking at them with killing intent.
He hated that this guy, this man, is with Louisa.
He hated that she smiled at him, laughed with him, and even held his hand.
He hated that a man called her his future wife.
He found her first.
He held her first.
He saved her.
She is his Yellow!
She is his!
With this predatory instinct, he lunged at Louisa and teleported both of them at the training ground where they had a spar. He does not care if this will waste his mana as long as he separates Yellow away from that man.
Louisa found herself being pushed harshly to the ground. Her hair and dress was ruined and she is covered in dirt. She was starting to get up when Zerav held her throat. She could not breathe.
"So this is what Blue means when he says noble business, huh? Is that what you have been doing? Flirting with that man instead of patrolling?" Louisa could feel Zerav's dark aura going out of control. His wings sprout out of his back. She tried calling his name but to no avail. At this rate, like Edna, he will turn into his awakened form. She started to squirm and hit his hand that was holding her.
"Futile attempts, Yellow!" He let go of her and Louisa steadied herself and started to breathe for air.
"Zerav!" She called out to him with a hoarse voice but he just stood there and watched her blankly.
"Die, human scum!" Zerav pointed his hand at her and Louisa found herself in his dread chasm. She felt being dragged to hell by the souls. She could feel their pain, agony, and resentment. It was like all of their hate towards their captor was turned into her. She screamed. It was like every part of her body was being ripped apart.
Rowan Bessemer hurried back to the Alliance headquarters and told the Commander that Louisa was taken away by a demon. The Commander then issued an order to every royal knights and other Captains to find her. Marie went back to the estate and informed Louisa's father of what has happened. Soon, all of House Roscent's knights, led by the Duke himself, searched every nook and cranny for their missing lady. Duke Louis Roscent, Louisa's father, looked very angry when he saw Rowan but his daughter comes first so the two of them looked for Louisa with an unspoken unfinished business that will be addressed later on.
Edna was making herself a cup of hot chocolate when she felt the dark aura of a familiar demon. This made her dropped her cup and Alaster was immediately at her side.
"Edna! Are you okay? Are you hurt? What is wrong?" Alaster asked panicking but Edna just held his arm not caring about the hot chocolate that was spilled on her.
"L-Let's go..." She told him in daze.
"Huh? Why?" Panic is still in his eyes. He hated it when he could not know what was wrong with her.
"Let us hurry! Or we will be too late!" Edna grabbed his shoulders. Her eyes filled with fear.
"Edna, calm down. What do you mean about hurrying?" Alaster asked while cupping her face gently to calm her down.
"Zerav, he..." Before she could finish, he grabbed his sword and both of them started running away.
"Zerav, please stop!" Louisa cried in agony. Zerav just smiled devilishly while watching her being dragged deeper into the dread chasm.
"Zerav! Why are you doing this?!" Louisa shouted with all her might. The Zerav in front of her is not the Zerav she knew at all. Dark aura continued to emit from him. Violet tendrils of light are everywhere. His violet wings were turning black like his horns now. With his hair tie ripped apart, his long silver hair flows with the wind. The white in his eyes is turning black and his yellow pupil gleamed dangerously. His dread chasm and his dark aura are taking away all the life in the area.
"Why, you asked, human? This is because of you! You played with me! You had me in the palm of your hand! But not anymore!" He unleashed his soul oblivion and laughed like the demon he is. Louisa held out with all her might. She knew that if she went into that oblivion field, her life would be over. So this is his demon side. It is scary but he is still Zerav. I know he is still there! I know it!
"Zerav! I never played with you! If I did something wrong, I am asking for your forgiveness! Please forgive me, Zerav. Please stop this." Louisa could not hold her tears back anymore. She started to cry. Please, let my feelings reach him! Zerav's evil smile was gone when he saw her cry.
"You do not know what you did?! Hah! You played with my feelings, human scum!" His anger fueled both the dread chasm and soul oblivion more. Louisa had to double up her strength to still be in one piece and in one place but her eyes went wide with the sudden revelation. Feelings? Does he have feelings for me?
"Zerav, if you have feelings for me like I do to you, then I want you to know that I love you with all my heart! I love you! I really do!" The soul oblivion was immediately gone and Louisa breathed with relief. She looked up at him and found him frozen in shock. She smiled with tears in her eyes.
"I love you, Zerav. I do. But I am a noble lady and a noble lady like me has to marry a fellow noble. That was why you saw me with him, my betrothed. That was why I could not go on patrols. That was why I could not look out for you to not take away Edna's soul. That was why I am currently in a marriage engagement that I do not even want. I love you, Zerav. Even if you are a demon. But I cannot have you because I am a noble!" With this last statement, Louisa cried her heart out. Zerav, dumbfounded with what he heard, ducked his head and vanished out of the area. Traces of him being there was also gone. Louisa collapsed.
Edna and Alaster hurried to Louisa's side when they saw her collapsed to the ground. They arrived at the scene when Louisa confessed her feelings to Zerav. Since it was a personal moment, they could only watch and listen but are prepared in case Zerav goes overboard. Alaster felt for Louisa's pulse. Edna examined her body looking for wounds.
"She is still alive, thank goodness!" Alaster exclaimed with relief.
"But her body is cold. This must be the effect of being with the souls. There are no external wounds, though." Edna was grateful that Louisa's alive but she is still worried.
"Do you think something happened to her soul?" Alaster voiced out her thoughts.
"I do not know. I am not a soul demon half-breed. And the only soul demon we know is Zerav. But I will let Raya and the other healers take a look at her." Edna said with determination but still with worry. She could not accept that she cannot be of help to her friend. And she is a Witch! She can do magic spells! She almost killed her when she awakened and now this. What a helpless Witch I am. Alaster suddenly holds her hand and gave her a squeeze.
"She will be fine. We will take her to the healers and then we will find Zerav." Edna gave him a smile in return and nodded. Alaster always gave her encouragement and she is forever grateful for it. It was at this moment when the knights arrived.
"My daughter!" Cried the Duke. "What happened to her?" Louisa's father asked while cradling her at his arms.
"The demon! Where is he?!" A young lord interrupted. This must be Louisa's fiancé.
"Somebody explain to me the darkness that surrounded this place." Commander ordered looking sternly at Alaster and Edna. Alaster explained everything.
"What?! The one who saved the world along with you two is the one who caused this to my daughter?! And he is a demon?!" Duke Louis cried outrageously with anger.
"Alaster, why?" Edna whispered. Alaster just squeezed her hand.
"Alaster, is this all true?" Asked the Commander. "When you and Louisa reported what happened with the blood eclipse and Demon Lords, you left out this detail."
"Yes, Commander Ashton. About the report, we did not include the thing about our demon companion because he was just a passerby when we had our journey and he only took part because he held a grudge with one of the Demon Lords. Above all, at that time, we felt it was unnecessary." Alaster explained then bowed. What he said was not entirely true but was closer to the truth. After all, he could not let them know about Edna being a pure soul, the soul contract, and Zerav being a soul demon. Commander Ashton just hummed in agreement and Alaster lifted his head.
"Where is that demon? Bring him to me so that I may sever his head!" Rowan commanded angrily. He was angry at the demon for doing this to his future wife and also at himself for his helplessness.
"I also want his head but my daughter's well-being is a must. Her body is cold. Why is this?" Duke Louis asked looking at Edna.
"I, myself, do not know Sir, but maybe the healers can answer your question." Edna hoped her nervousness did not show.
"Very well." The Duke carried Louisa bridal style and was then assisted by the maids as they put her in the carriage. Soon everyone went back to where they should be.
"Alaster, I want a full written report about this on my desk tomorrow morning."
"Yes, Commander!" The rest of the knights left with him.
"Alaster, what do we do now? What if they will issue an order to kill Zerav? Are you going to follow an order like that?" Edna asked with worry. She is fearful for all of their future now.
"Do not worry. I will not let that happen. Louisa would not want that too. That is why we must find Zerav before they do." Edna mirrored the determination Alaster had and then nodded. Together, they went back home to start their plan on hunting a certain demon.
