Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Kings Landing, 302
An: means a lot to me that thousands of people have clicked on my story that I wrote purely for myself to get the idea out of my head. Madness.
As much as he missed his Children and the North as a whole, he was grateful that he had decided not to bring them despite Cat's protest that Arya should come to find a husband and become a "Dignified Lady, not a Savage Cailin." In truth he was getting sick of Cat's southorn ambition for his children. He felt like his mother when she found out that his father had betrothed Brandon to Cat and Lyanna to Robert. She was extremely against those moves along with most of the North. Ned was certain she would have loved Arya and her Cailin like ways. Though Ned was also pretty sure that she would have hated Sansa before she was betrothed to Rodrik Dustin, she was a southerner through and through and Cat was proud of her while Ned was wary of her naivety. However after finding out she would not be marrying a prince or a knight of the stories she started asking questions about the reality of what she had grown up on. It got to the point that Alys sat her down and explained the reality of the situation to her. She had come out in tears and Ned had been worried about her but Alys had ensured him, she would be fine. Cat had searched everywhere for her but she was nowhere to be found, in the end Bran found her in the godswood praying.
She came out of there a changed person, she got closer to all her siblings, stopped paying as much attention to the septa and her mother. She also stopped going to the Sept, much to Cat's further annoyance, ever since then Cat had taken her anger at losing her only southern child on Arya, She also started to become much more angry with the workers in WInterfell, It got to the point where he had to step in at one point when she had screamed at the top of her lungs because the Chef had stopped serving southorn foods because she was the only one who ate them now.
Kings Landing was just as he remembered it, just without the dead bodies lining the streets. The small council was made up of Varys as master of whispers, Baelish as master of Coin, Pyecle as grandmaester, Ser Kevan Lannister as master of Laws, Lord Velaryon as master of ships. While the king sat in on must sessions he was not always present. Ned had tried to get him to make his son attend the meetings he had refused saying that the prince who was promised would know what to do when the time was right, Ned was starting to think he was going mad. He decided to ask the only man he could fully trust here. Ashara Dayne was a regular fixture in Kings landing and before the war he and her were in love and Ned was about to ask his father for her hand. But alas Lyanna had run off with the King and the realm bled for it. Lyanna got what she wanted in the end, he supposed, freedom from Robert, at any cost necessary. Ned Understood Lyanna's wish but she was stupid to run off with the prince and think it wouldnt result in a war. Ned had to remind himself that Lya was only 15 years old when she ran off, as strong as she was, a few honeyed words from a gallant prince and she would be off in what she thought to be true love, Ned could only think of 4 women that did apply to, his mother, his youngest daughter and his strongest bannerman and Maege Mormont. Anyway he went to Ashara to get a better understanding of the situation.
"Trust no one, Ned" she told him, much to his dismay. "Everyone has an aim in this city, even your wife could be susceptible as a pawn used against you."
"Surely there must be one honest man here" he basically begged her.
"Apart from you and Ser Barristan? No, not even my brother after what he did to Lyanna." she said sadly. "I will do what I can to protect you, Ned, but we won't be able to talk too much or people will talk and your wife will rage."
"I understand Ash, please accept my apologies again for breaking that promise, I truly was going to carry it out." he said apologetically.
"Oh, I know you were, you are too honorable to not , but I understand why you had to marry the Tully, but don't feel bad those were some of the best days of my life."
Robb Stark, Heir to the North, WInterfell, 302
Robb's father had sent a raven from King's Landing after he had reached the capital, it had detailed everything that they had expected, King was half mad, both princes were ¾ mad and both were aiming for the throne, No one could be trusted, and Baelish had tried to manipulate his mother and father, of course Clara had told him he would try this. During the hour of the wolf in the Dance of Dragons, the Cailins had placed spies all over the capital, and their descendants remained loyal even now, and no one suspected that the honourable and blunt northerners would have spies, some spies were even double agent's, the southerners thought them to be there own but in truth they were loyal to the North. Through this Clara was informed of everything going on there. What hadn't been expected was that both princesses would be pregnant. Robb couldn't say that he felt anything about it, on the one hand more heirs to the throne was a good thing but he prayed they were more like their mothers than their father, he was also not a small amount disgusted in the incest, but he supposed the Karstarkrs and all northern houses were at least distant kin with each other but not so much it made a difference and definitely no marrying of siblings.
Nothing had changed in the North as of late but he was no less tense then he was when his father left. His uncle Benjen came to visit with rumours of a King beyond the wall, which was worrying and Robb had ordered patrol's of the most northern parts of the North to halt any wildling incursions. So far there had been much success and they had managed to discern the truth of the rumours but had failed to learn how they had gotten past the wall. His good father, Lord Karstark had recommended that a heightened guard be placed on any ships in dock in the north as that was how they were likely to attempt to cross, he had followed this advice but so far nothing had happened. In other news Dacey Mormont and Torrhen Karstark had a little girl that they called Maege after Dacey's mother, Robb was sure she would be a fierce thing, Dacey was a warrior first and foremost and Torrhen was certainly no slouch with a blade.
His family life was great, he couldn't be happier with Alys, she had settled into her role as lady of Winterfell with ease and Robb had just been told that Theon would have a sibling joining him in a couple of months. Theon was a brilliant boy, fierce as his mother and aunt with the intelligence of his father and grandfather. Jon and Lyara were also expecting a child. He was happy for Jon, he would make a great father and deserved a child.
Brandon Dustin-Cailin, Lord of the Moat, Moat Cailin 302
It had been 7 months since Lord Stark went south with his wife. In that time little Lyanna had been betrothed to Theon Stark. He was happy with the match, despite how young they were, Brandon knew it was necessary, people in the south seemed to think that the Cailins would usurp the North from the Starks. Idiots, the day the Cailins betray the Starks is the day the world ends, as Clara liked to preach to the children, it was actually strange to him how loyal she made sure to make the children, he understood of course and he wouldn't have it any other way but any other house would be scheming for more power if they were as strong as the Cailins, besides it was usually tradition for a Cailin to be betrothed young, the only exception was his wife and that was only because she was the last of her line. As well as the betrothal, Jon and Lyra had given birth to a son they named Allyn Whitestark, apparently after Allyn 'scourge of the seven' Cailin who had marched south and sacked Highgarden after a Gardener King had insulted the Stark King at the time. It was a tribute to Clara who raised him to a powerful Lord as well as showed his Loyalty to the Starks. But the most surprising was when he learned that Clara was pregnant again, a boy she was sure. Brandon was shocked, they had not been expecting anymore children but he was ecstatic and was certain it was a gift from the Gods. Willian they had decided to name him. After his father and Cregan Stark. He was expected to be born in 3 months at the same time as Robb's child would be.
Viserys Targayan, Prince of Summerhall, The Red Keep, 303.
Viserys was raging, His brother should be dead by now, the poison should have killed him by now. But he was still alive. He was supposed to be the greatest king of all time by now, his nephew should be bowing to him, his nieces should be his personal whores along with that Cailin whore. But not only had his brother lived, although he was certain to die within the year, his nephew now had 2 children, A boy Aemon and a Girl Rhaenya, a mix of both her mothers names. He would have to kill the boy and maybe when the girl grew up she could be the whore to his son, yes he thought, It would be just as he always dreamed it would be and his wife told him it would be.
An: I know it's short, but its just basically a pacing and Pov update, It also ( I hope) gives an insight into the mind of Viserys in my mind, any reviews appreciated, always eager to learn more and lean your opinions.
