Demon Slayer AU

(A/N: I own nothing and it was just a little blurb that hit me so I had to write it. Maybe a bit OOC.)

Tanjiro stared at all of the gravestones in front of him, each one etched with the names of the brave Slayers whose lives were lost during the final battles with Muzan and his twelve moons.

At least they didn't die in vain. Muzan and his moons were gone now, all of them, and there were few demons left that were quickly being hunted down by the rest of the Corps.

"There shall never be another child lost to the war with demons. The war is over now at long last and the restless souls of those the demons have slain and turned can now rest in peace." Kiriya said softly as he and his sisters stared at the graves of their parents. His two older sisters had wanted to stay with their parents when they had set off the explosion but Amane had asked Tamayo to save her children, and Tamayo had done so. The two older girls had been greatly upset by this but Tamayo told them of their mothers request for them to live and see things through to the end against Muzan.

"And as soon as the last demons are either returned to being human or killed then there will be no more need for the Demon Slayer Corps. Everyone will be able to go back to their normal lives." Shinobu said with a small smile as she stood beside Kanao who was now wearing the Hashira haori, her sister no longer able to be a sword fighter with her main arm gone from the elbow down. A sacrifice she paid when poisoning Douma and god if things hadn't had changed thanks to Tanjiro and Tamayo and Nezuko then Shinobu knew she would have probably sacrificed her entire body.

"I don't even really remember what a normal life is anymore. I've spent so long being a doctor and being on the run from Muzan…" Tamayo said from beside Tanjiro who wrapped his arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

"I cannot say I know either. My family has been Flame Pillars for generations…" Rengoku said although he had a hand on his younger brothers shoulder, he was still getting used to his left eyes being completely destroyed and useless. It was only because of Tanjiro and Tamayo that he had even survived his fight with Akaza on the train and managed to cleave the demons head from his shoulders.

He still thought it was rather funny how stunned Akaza looked when Tamayo had appeared in between the two men, diverting Akaza's arm to the side and having it pierce her own body instead of going straight through Rengokus. He owed the demoness his life, and the absolute rage and destruction a wounded and winded Tanjiro caused to Akaza at seeing his wife be harmed was something that sent a shiver of fear down Rengoku's spine even now. He was sure the possessive and protectiveness between Mates went both ways at that moment and that Tanjiro was definitely strong enough to become a pillar even then.

"What is normal?" Muichiro asked making a few of those gathered snicker slightly since he was being completely serious but it was still funny to them.

"I don't think anyone really knows anymore. Although…it's safe to say that we should keep our blades. Muzan turned himself into a demon by accident all those years ago, who's to say someone else couldn't do the same again?" Tanjiro asked and the others nodded grimly at that as they all grimaced and Tamayo squeezed her husbands hand in reassurance.

"Although we should all probably get back to the house and rest, the medical staff must be going nuts with how many of us escaped." Nezuko said with a small grin and the others chuckled slightly since she had a point. They had all used various skills and talents to break out of the medical ward in order to come and visit the graves of those who had fallen, and Shinobu knew her medical girls were going spar trying to find them all.

"Yeah and I'm sure Shinobu-san and Tamayo need to sit and rest, their backs must be hurting something fierce." Tanjiro said pulling his wife close to his side and nuzzling the top of her head while everyone frowned and looked confused.

"My back feels fine?" Shinobu asked confused as she looked at Tanjiro wondering if there was brain damage.

"You sure? I know my back used to hurt a lot when I'd carry a bunch of wood. So your back probably hurts a hell of a lot from you two carrying that whole fight." Tanjiro said grinning slightly at them and Shinobu blinked before she snickered while Tamayo blushed and smiled as she kissed her husbands cheek.

"Hmph. He has a point." Giyuu said smirking slightly and he didn't even give any warning before he picked up Shinobu and carried her bridal style.

"Oh my how bold." Tamayo was immediate with her teasing as she smiled at Shinobu, the two having become friends during the time they created the drug.

"Wh-wha-what are you doing Giyuu?! I can walk!" Shinobu protested the action with a face bright red as she tried to squirm out of his arms but he just tightened his hold.

"Your back is hurting from carrying the fight. Allow me to keep you from hurting it further by walking back to Butterfly Estate." Giyuu said completely straight faced and Kanao stared at them for a moment while the other Pillars took turns teasing them or cooing over the 'cute couple'.

"Is he going to be my Onii-san now nee-chan?" Kanao asked completely straight faced and both of the Pillars went bright red at this.

"He has a point though…" Tanjiro said humming as he looked at his wife.

"Dear-" Tamayo cut herself off with an eep sound as Tanjiro swooped her up bridal style and grinned at her, giving her a kiss on the nose as her face flamed red as well.

"I never did get a chance to carry you bridal style did I?" Tanjiro asked grinning at Tamayo who was bright red but she smiled a bit as she wound her arms around his neck.

"Alright you two. No defiling the medical ward." Shinobu tried to tease them and they both blushed and wouldn't look at her, causing jaws to drop.

"You didn't!?" Kanao asked staring at the two who refused to look at them.

"We had just survived the fight, been turned back into humans, and my wife is a beautiful doctor. Plus we had the room to ourselves while she tended my injuries. What did you expect was going to happen?" Tanjiro asked and the Pillars gaped at him before Rengoku laughed and slapped Tanjiro on the back.

"Spoken like a true young man and husband in love." Rengoku said and soon each of the pillars but Shinobu were teasing the married couple, Tengen offering to give them advice if they were up to it.

"I can't believe you two did that in the medical ward." Shinobu said causing Tanjiro to give her a flat look.

"You forget about my sense of smell. I know full well you and Giyuu-san aren't keeping your hands off of each other. At least I married my wife before doing such a thing." Tanjiro said and Shinobu and Giyuu both went bright red at this and spluttered heavily.

"So he's been my Onii-san for a while." Kanao said completely straight faced.

"Yep and from what I can tell they'd better get married soon. After all she's in the family way." Tanjiro said smirking at them and both of their eyes went wide as Giyuu nearly dropped Shinobu.

"What?! I am?!" Shinobu demanded staring stunned at Tanjiro just like everyone else was.

"Mom got pregnant five times with my younger siblings. I know what it smells like when a woman is in the family way. You're definitely in the family way." Tanjiro said nodding and Shinobu stared at Giyuu who stared back at her and they both looked stunned and were silent for a long moment.

"Should I call for someone to marry you?" Kiriya asked staring at the two of them and they both slowly nodded their heads.

"It's about time. Although I thought he'd at least give her that ring I could hear in his pocket." Zenitsu was the one to say and Giyuu flushed brightly as he set Shinobu down and then fumbled to get the ring out of his pocket for her.

"Okay everyone. Back to medical. Give the engaged couple space and time to talk." Tamayo said clapping her hands slightly and making everyone whistle or clap for the two of them, patting one of them or the other on the back as they passed by.

Tanjiro smiled softly as his wife glanced back at the now engaged couple who'd be starting a family soon and he saw her hand move to her flat stomach. She had told him not long before the final battle that when everything was done and over with, she wanted to start a family with him. He had been more than happy to agree to that and had showered her in affection and kisses.

"Let's have a baby soon too Tanjiro." Tamayo said softly as she looked up at him with hopeful eyes and apparently her voice wasn't soft enough because Yushiro, who had been walking nearby, had heard and he tripped over his own two feet. He went tumbling back down the path and took Mushirou down with him much to the others amusement.

"Whenever you want Tamayo." Tanjiro promised back with a soft smile as he held her closer and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips.

He decided to let her be surprised when she found her belly beginning to swell soon. After all she no longer had her demon senses so while he could smell the child within her stomach, she didn't know of it yet.

"I love you Tamayo. I'm so happy that I am your Mate." Tanjiro whispered to her as they snuck back into the Butterfly Estate and he laid on bed holding her close while she curled into his body, nuzzling into his chest happily.

"I love you too Tanjiro. I'm happy you were my Mate as well…and I'm even happier now that I can be your Wife." Tamayo said reminding him that since she was no longer a demon then they technically were no longer mates, instead they were just a married couple who both had bite marks on their necks.

"I'm happier that I can be your husband." Tanjiro agreed with a small grin as he kissed her gently when she glanced up at him.

'And I'm happy to be your father little baby. Mama doesn't know about you yet but I do and I already love you so very much.' Tanjiro thought as Tamayo quickly drifted off to sleep pressed against his chest, and his arms were wrapped securely around her in a way that one of them was covering her belly protectively.

Things could have been so much worse during the final battle. They could have lost so very many more people. If Tamayo hadn't been his mate then she wouldn't have been with them on the train and Rengoku would have died in his fight with Akaza. If Rengoku had died then who would have reminded Shinobu that she still had a younger sister, and apparently a lover and now a child, to live for? If he had died then who would have saved Muchirou and Tengen?

If Tamayo hadn't been there…how many people would have been killed when Muzan turned Tanjiro into a demon?

No…helping Tamayo with her heat that day at her home and turning out to be her Mate was the best thing that had ever happened to Tanjiro, and possibly to the Demon Slayer Corps as well.
