Well, well, well. Look who's back with another awesome chapter of Pokemon: Clover? Man, to see how many people love this story is just crazy. Seriously, I'm thankful for all of you following this story and being patient with me.
Rider126: Oh, for sure. I already have a Pokemon who will fall for Scorbunny and vice versa.
Shadow Joestar: Yes, he will.
Kungfubrawler77: Well… yeah, I have someone else for Pawniard.
Dragon King156: Thanks.
Omni warrior: Yeah, Yami really loves his double standards, huh? And you hit the nail on the head.
Fiction Realm: Those are a lot of good choices. Though, some of those will go to other characters.
GracefulArt: Trust me, it's a Pokemon that fits her.
Ajj6327044: I do love those two. There is a possibility of them appearing, though I'm not sure.
Omniverse Nexus: Hmmm, Kubfu would be a good choice. I have to think about it. Honedge is definitely a Pokemon he will get and Secre is my best girl… of course she'd be in the harem. And a Swellow is so on the nose, it's funny.
To recap: Asta, Scorbunny and Rookidee were greeted to the sight of the Black Bulls, who were nothing like they expected. Despite this, they did their best to introduce themselves, to which they needed to pass several tests made by the Black Bull member Magna and his Pokemon Carkol and Tumburr. Although it took some time, they were able to pass the tests and receive their Black Bull Robe and scarfs, which made their entry into the Black Bulls official.
Will Asta and his Pokemon be able to handle their new lives with the Black Bulls or will they be crushed by the insanity?
'Black Bulls Hideout, night'
After the insanity that was the initiation test, the Black Bulls decided to call it a night… though some of them did decide to simply sleep in the main hall, either due to being drunk or just plain lazy.
However, walking through the halls of the base were Magna Swing, Asta and their Pokemon, with the former acting as a guide. Soon, the small group reached a single, wooden door, to which Magna opened up.
"Here it is: your room." Magna said with a proud tone as the light illuminated the room. It was rather… bland. There was a small cabinet on the side, a dirty desk and a messy bed with the blanket hanging from the side.
"(Well… it's… small)." Scorbunny confessed while jumping off of Asta's shoulder, looking at their new room. Their shared room back in Hage wasn't anything special, but at least it was clean.
"(Hey, you take what you can get, rookie)." Carkol told him with a shrug. Honestly, he preferred sleeping outside as opposed to the beds, but if it made Magna happy, then he would put up with it.
"Dank, huh?" Magna mocked with a chuckle as Asta, Rookidee and Scorbunny began to examine the room. "Not to mention oppressively cramped and filthy. You should see mine. It's twice the size of-"
"I can't believe it! My room!" However, Magna was caught off guard when Asta turned to him with sparkling eyes and a big smile with tears running down his face.
"Wait, you're actually happy about this?" Magna asked, shocked to see such a reaction.
"(I don't mind it. At least I won't have to worry about the rain)." Rookidee said as he landed near the window, admiring the full moon.
"(Yeah, but it still stinks)." Timburr added with his arms crossed.
"(Trust me. Asta and I have been living in a church for years with five other kids, sister Lily and Father Orsi. Having a room just for us is good enough)." Scorbunny answered as he hopped on the bed, surprised to feel how soft it was. "(Huh. This isn't bad)."
"This is the first time I've ever had my own room ever! Of course I'm happy!" Asta explained to Magna while getting up to the Flame Mage's face. "Everyone in the church was always lined up like sardines since we always shared one room!"
And with that, Asta began to clean his new room with pure vigour, all while sporting a smile on his face. Magna, Carkol and Timburr simply watched with flabbergasted expressions while Scorbunny and Rookidee simply relaxed.
"(Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that Asta's really good at cleaning)." Scorbunny told them as Asta picked him up to fix the bed. Once it was done, Asta gently placed Scorbunny on the pillow, earning a relaxed sigh from the fire Pokemon.
"Go on. Scrub as much as you want." Magna told Asta with a chuckle as he and his Pokemon began to leave. "We're free until the next mission, anyways." And with that, Magna started to walk away. However, he soon stopped and turned back to Asta. "By the way, Asta. There's one more thing you should do."
"Yeah?" Asta turned to his senior, curious to hear what he had to say.
"Make sure to take some time to write." Magna told him in a rather mature tone as he pointed to Asta with a smile. "The folks back at the church deserve a letter. They're your family, right? So make sure to keep them updated on what you're doing, okay?" Scorbunny and Rookidee were genuinely surprised by how mature Magna was. They thought he was just some cocky punk who would occasionally give good advice. But he seemed to be a lot more mature than they had thought if he was giving Asta advice.
"(Don't give him that look. Magna knows how Asta feels)." Timburr spoke up, noticing their expression.
"You got it!" Asta told Magna with a determined tone. He was already going to do that, but having Magna remind him didn't hurt.
"Don't go making everyone worry. That's what being a real man's all about." Magna said with a clenched fist before he turned away, giving Asta a wave. "Let me know if you need anything. Later." And with that, Magna and his Pokemon left.
"Will do. Thanks Magna!" Asta said before giving his senior a bow of respect. Once he was gone, Asta closed the door and gave his Pokemon a smile. "Alright, why don't you guys go to sleep? I have to do-"
*Snore*
However, Asta didn't need to finish as he saw Scorbunny sleeping on the pillow while Rookidee was snoozing on the window sill. A chuckle escaped Asta's lips before he walked over to the table, turning on the lamp to give him light. He then took out a piece of paper and pen before he started to write on it. 'This is my first castle, but not the last. Someday, I'm gonna live in the castle of the Wizard King.' Asta thought with a smile before he turned towards the window. 'I won't lose. Got that, Yuno?'
'Golden Dawn Headquarters, night'
Far from the Black Bulls hideout stood the Golden Dawn's Headquarters. It looked like a massive royal castle, with white walls, columns and a large arena in the front. Something that should be expected from the top Magic Knights Squad in all of Clover.
Inside the headquarters was Yuno, Rowlet and Cutiefly. However, they were not alone as they were currently following a member of the Golden Dawn. Leading them was a tall man with a slender build and slanted light fuchsia eyes. He has a long, thin, and pointed nose with a large chin. His light blue colored hair is short and pushed to the sides and back while also having an angular fringe to his left-hand side. Additionally, he also wears a pair of gold, hooped earrings and dark glasses with rectangular frames. A diamond-like shape protrudes from the bridge of these glasses(seemingly fitted along his face). His glasses are usually pressed up against his face. He wears a double-breasted, long-sleeved shirt with a high collar(that reaches to approximately his adams apple) and gold-colored trimmings around the edges. The collar also has a chain connecting both ends of the collar as an ornament. The shirt itself is made of two different colors where it is light-colored at the side and dark-colored in the middle. The sleeves are mostly in light-colored fabric, except the wrist area where it has dark-colored fabric. The shirt extends below his waist and he also wears a light-colored sash on top of it. He also wears casual light-colored pants and a pair of high boots to complement it. The dark-colored boots also have fur around the collar. Lastly, he wears a long dark-colored robe on top of his outfit. The robe has enough length to cover his entire body. The robe is made of gold-colored fabric with faint gold patterns on the surface and only covers his torso. The hood also has a blue fur around the edges and a pair of blue ropes coming out the left-hand side. The robes are attached to a gold button on the right-hand side where it keeps the robe together. Additionally, the squad's insignia is also positioned at the left-hand side of the robe.
Hovering next to the blue haired man was a large Pokémon resembling a blue-green bell with two arms coming out of its sides. It has a hollow body and a yoke attached at the top. Its face can be best described as being a "Totem Pole" design; it has two round, red eyes with blue-green irises and a rectangular mouth with one visible row of square teeth. It also has several darker, rectangular markings on its body.
The three Pokemon currently wore a light tan scarf, which represented their allegiance to the Golden Dawn.
"Here we are." The blue haired man told Yuno with a mature tone before he opened the door. The room was rather elegant, with a gold desk, gold dresser, an oak table. A chandelier and a rather elegant bed. "It's better than you deserve. A room like this is wasted on the likes of you."
"(How dare you say that about Yuno)!" Cutiefly yelled as she flew up to the blue haired man to glare at him.
"Can you keep your Pokemon in check? They needed to be better behaved if they're going to represent the Golden Dawn." The blue haired man told Yuno, irritated at the glare Cutiefly was giving him.
"Cutiefly." Yuno simply said, which prompted the Bug and Fairy Pokemon to fly away and land on his shoulder. The blue haired man scoffed as he fixed his glasses.
"Tomorrow, I'll explain your duties as a Magic Knight." The blue haired man said in a professional tone. "However, I don't particularly wish to be your tutor, but since it's on Captain Vangeance's orders, so be it. Are you listening, you three?"
"My name is Yuno. This is Rowelt and Cutiefly." Yuno replied calmly as he closed his eyes. He then opened them, giving the older man a serious look. "My name is Yuno, Klaus. Not boy."
"(Master, shall I teach him discipline)?" The Pokemon known as Bronzong questioned in a robotic tone.
"(He started it. Don't make us fight you)." Rowlet shot back with a glare.
"Enough." Klaus spoke up to get everyone's attention. "Don't forget that I outrank you. You are to address me as "sir." Understood." As much as Klaus and Brozong annoyed them, Yuno and his Pokemon knew they couldn't get into a fight now. After all, they had JUST joined the Golden Dawn.
"Yes sir." Yuno relented with a flat tone.
"Better." Klaus commented before he began to leave the room, with Bronzong following suit. "Don't be late tomorrow or I will be displeased." And with that, they left, leaving Yuno, Rowlet and Cutiefly alone.
"(Those two were really starting to get on my nerves)!" Cutiefly shouted with a comedic tick mark on her head.
"(I know. But at least we have a nice room to sleep in)." Rowlet added as he flew off of Yuno's shoulder and onto the bed, sighing at how soft it was. Yuno took the chance to touch his new desk, admiring the feel of it.
"We'll show them." Yuno spoke up, getting his Pokemon's attention. Though he didn't say anything else, it was clear from his expression that Yuno was going to prove to everyone in the Golden Dawn that he wasn't a weakling.
After all, he and Asta promised to be the Wizard King.
'Hage Village, the next day'
Things were rather peaceful for the orphans in the church. They were simply doing their chores or playing around for the day. Sister Lily didn't complain as she folded the laundry outside, humming a light tune.
Although, she was still thinking about the two oldest orphans who had left for the Magic Knights Entrance Exam a few days ago. Lily wasn't doubting Asta or Yuno, even so, she still couldn't help but worry about them.
'I hope the two of them passed.' Lily thought to herself with a frown.
However, she was brought out of her thoughts when a Spatial Portal appeared in the sky, with a Noctowl carrying an envelope flying out of it. The Pokemon noticed Lily before flying down towards her, getting her attention.
"(Special delivery for the family of Asta and Yuno)." The Noctowl said before letting go of the envelope, prompting Lily to catch it.
"Oh, thank you." Lily told the Normal/Flying type Pokemon as she looked at the envelope.
"(Have a good day)!" Noctowl told her before another Spatial Portal opened up, to which he flew through as it closed. Once Lily looked at the seal, she let out a surprised gasp. Opening the envelope, she took out two cards with writing on them, which made her smile.
A few moments later, everyone had gathered inside of the church, with father Orsi reading the cards Lily had gotten.
"I knew we were right about you, Yuno!" Orsi cried out, having read the first paper. "The pride and joy of Hage, making it into the Magic Knights with Rowlet! Not that I'm surprised, of course."
"Yuno can do anything!" Aruru said with a smile.
"Yeah, anything!" Hollo added.
"Everyone in the village will be so excited when they hear this." Orsi said with a proud smile as he picked up a broom.
"And what does Asta's letter say?" Recca asked, curious to hear about her other foster brother. "Can you even make out what that chicken scratch says?"
"Yeah, even Scorbunny writes better than him." Nash said, unable to read what Asta wrote down. "Does it say when they'll come home?"
"When they do get here, we'll have to cheer them up." Orsi told everyone. "Even Asta will have a hard time bouncing back from this and there's no telling how sad Scorbunny might feel. Maybe a pop-potato party will cheer them up."
"Actually." Lily spoke up, a proud smile on her face. "He says they both got into a Magic Knights squad too!"
It took a few seconds for everyone to get a grasp of what Lily said before they let out a surprised gasp.
"It's true. They both passed their tests and even caught a new Pokemon each." Lily continued as she read the letters.
"WHAT?!" Their shocked cries were so loud, even the people outside of the church could hear them.
"Y-You can't be serious!" Orsi asked Lily with a stutter. He wasn't saying Asta was weak by any means, but the exams weren't exactly easy. So to hear Asta and Scorbunny passing was definitely a surprise.
"It's true. It says right here." Lily handed him the paper so he could read it. Lo and behold, it was true.
"He really did it. So, ummm, I guess Asta won't be… coming… home… will he?" Orsi said with a smile, though there was some sweat that ran down his head. He quickly composed himself before using his magic on his broom, causing it to hover up. He then placed Hollo and Aruru on the broom before he got on, flying out of the church. "Well, we'll go tell everyone about our Magic Knights. This will be the best news Hage Village has ever gotten!" The children cheered in agreement before they flew off.
"Amazing. Asta's going to be a Magic Knight just like he said." Nash muttered with a smile before he clenched his fists. "He really did it!"
"Asta. Yuno. Good job." Lily said to herself with a genuine smile. "Keep doing your best with your Pokemon and make as many friends as you can."
Just like that, Lily's day just got a lot better.
'Black Bulls Hideout'
Asta grunted to himself before he opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling of his new room. He then sat up, looking around as if he was making sure it was all real. He was given confirmation of this when he laid eyes on his Black Bulls Robe, which caused him to smile.
'Wow. It really wasn't a dream. I ACTUALLY got into a Magic Knights Squad!' Asta thought to himself while clenching his fist. Standing up, Asta noticed a bump under his blanket, causing him to chuckle as he pulled it over, revealing a snoozing Scorbunny. 'Oh yeah. Scorbunny always likes to sleep in. Then again, he could be like Rowlet.'
'Yuno's room, Golden Dawn Headquarters'
The second oldest orphan in Hage church was sleeping soundly in his bed, allowing himself to relax after yesterday.
*Bump*
However, he was rudely awoken when he felt something soft bump into his face. With a frown, Yuno lazily pushed the object away before turning to his side. Unfortunately, the soft object simply bumped into the back of his head once. Then twice. Then a third time.
Annoyed by this, Yuno opened his eyes before he sat up, only to sweatdrop as he saw the thing that was bumping him was none other than Rowlet.
*Snore*
But rather than being awake, Rowlet was still asleep, rolling around without any direction.
"... You really can't sleep still, can you?" Yuno asked his partner with a blank face, though Rowlet was still asleep.
'Back with Asta'
Having changed his clothes, Asta adjusted his Black Bulls robe, smiling as he patted the insignia. He then looked over at Scorbunny, who was still sleeping on the bed. "Scorbunny, time to wake up." Asta told him, though the Fire Pokemon didn't hear. "Come on. It's time to get ready." He then started to gently shake Scorbunny, who groaned in annoyance before he opened his eyes.
"(Five more minutes)." Scorbunny said before he turned his body to face the wall.
"Okay. You asked for it." Asta told him with a big smile before he cracked his knuckles. "Time to use my secret weapon… Tickle Magic!" With that, Asta began to tickle Scorbunny furiously. The Rabbit Pokemon couldn't contain his laughter as he began to wiggle around, trying to free himself of Asta's grip.
"(OKAY! OKAY! I'M AWAKE)!" Scorbunny relented while laughing out loud, tears running down his face.
"Looks like I win this time, buddy." Asta told his partner while pulling away, giving a victorious smile with his hands on his hips. He then turned towards the window sill, seeing Rookidee still sleeping. "Oh Rookidee~"
"(Don't even)." Rookidee opened his eyes, giving Asta a glare. After all, Scorbunny's laughter had woken him up and he did NOT want to be tickled.
"Alright. Let's get going, you guys." Asta told them before he extended an arm towards both of them. Scorbunny hopped onto his right arm before climbing onto his shoulder while Rookidee flew over to his left shoulder. Making sure to adjust their scarfs, Asta then ran out of his room. "Let's do th-!"
*THUD*
However, the moment Asta ran out of his room, he slammed into a brick column, causing cracks to appear on it.
"(... This is why I wanted to sleep in)." Scorbunny grunted before Asta pulled the three of them off the column, rubbing their red noses, or in Rookidee's case, his red beak.
"Wait a second. I'm pretty sure this column wasn't here yesterday!" Asta yelled, glaring at the column.
"(Yeah. What's going on)?" Rookidee questioned with a confused tone.
"Morning, newbies. How's it hanging?" The trio turned their heads, only to see Magna, Carkol and Timburr walk towards them, with the latter holding a new log.
"Oh, we're good, I think." Asta greeted him. "But what's with this column? I know it wasn't here last night."
"Oh, that? Yeah, you're right. It wasn't." Magna told him like it was no big deal. "This whole building shifts around all the time, so expect a lot of that to happen."
"(Seriously? How did we not notice)?" Scorbunny asked himself. He should have expected that due to how unorthodox the hideout was last night.
"(Eh, it's no big deal. As long as you put something on your door, you'll be able to find it)." Timburr said with a shrug.
"I thought there was something weird about this place." Asta said while rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, come on. Let's get going." Magna told them while gesturing them to follow. "The three of you are lucky to have us as guides."
"(And make sure to keep up. We don't wanna lose another newbie on the first day)." Carkol told the Pokemon before rolling with Magna and Timburr.
"(... Did he just say he lost another newbie)?" Rookidee questioned, to which Scorbunny nodded.
Somehow… They had doubts about Magna and his team.
"First is the dining hall." Magna spoke up as he brought Asta and his Pokemon to the dining hall. It was rather large, with several long tables with connected benches and a bar on the right wall.
Of course, the only ones who were there at that time of day was Charmy, along with Snorlax, Altaria and Alcreamie, with the former two eating a large amount of food.
"This is so cool!" Asta complimented with wide eyes.
"Ridiculously huge, huh?" Magna asked with a hand on his hip.
"(Are they always here early in the morning)?" Rookidee questioned Magna's Pokemon curiously, watching as Snorlax took a whole watermelon and ate it whole.
"(Charmy and Snorlax are always hungry when they wake up, so we come here to feed them)." Altaria explained as she carried another plate of cake, putting it in front of Charmy.
"Thanks, girl!" Charmy thanked her Pokemon while patting her on the head before devouring the cake. "So good!"
"(Yeah, you never get used to seeing her eat all the time)." Carkol confessed.
'Black Bulls Communal Bath'
"And this is the communal bath." Magna spoke up as he, Asta and their Pokemon were all in a large bath with hot water and dragon head fountains on the wall. "It's for relaxing between missions."
"Ow, ow, ow." Asta whined, not being used to such heat. Judging by his face, he was trying his best not to get out. "It's so hot…"
"Maybe for a normal person, but it should be nothing for a Black Bull." Magna commented with a nonchalant tone.
"(Surf's up)!" Timburr ran as fast as he could before he leaped up, putting the log under his feet. The Fighting Pokemon soon landed on the water, allowing his log to bounce up and down. However, he soon splashed some water towards Rookidee, causing him to fly away.
"(Hey! Watch it)!" Rookidee shouted with an annoyed tone.
"Come on, are you gonna quit now?" Magna teasingly asked Asta before he glanced over to Scorbunny, who was floating on the water with a content expression. "See. Even Scorbunny's handling it better than you."
"(I never wanna leave)." Scorbunny sighed with a doopy smile.
"I can stay in! I'm not done yet!" Asta gritted his teeth, trying not to give up.
"I wouldn't mind adding a little cold water." Gordon muttered next to Asta. As soon as he said that, he was dunked with a bucket of cold water, courtesy of Scolipede. "Thank you."
"(You're welcome)." Scolipede said as she nudged her human partner.
As everyone continued to relax, they failed to notice Carkol rolling back, giving himself a good distance between the bath and himself.
"(CANNONBALL)!" Once he found a good distance, the Fire/Rock Pokemon rolled as fast as he could before jumping high, which was surprising for a Pokemon of his size.
"Huh?" Magna looked up, only to widen his eyes in horror. "CARKOL, NO!"
*SPLASH*
Unfortunately, Magna's words fell into deaf ears as Carkol landed in the bath, causing a large splash of water to emerge. It was so strong that it caused most of the water inside the bath to flow out.
"(YEAH! THAT WAS AWESOME)!" Carkol shouted as he rose his head from the water, steam coming off his body. However, he noticed that everyone was out of the bath, scattered around while groaning in pain. "(Ohhh)..."
"(Idiot)." Crobat said while hanging from the ceiling.
'Black Bulls Hallway'
"Over there are the women's rooms." Magna pointed out as he and Asta looked at a simple hallway… as well as the multiple wires and kunai hanging from the ceiling. "If a guy goes in, the trap magic'll kill them."
"Wow, that's some serious security." Asta had to admit while looking at the traps.
"(Don't you think this is a bit much)?" Rookidee asked with a sweatdrop.
"(Hey, we need to make sure any perverts get what they deserve)." Carkol stated like it was a fact.
"Let's keep moving." Magna told the group as they began to walk through the hallway.
"You got it, Magn-" However, Asta stopped once he noticed something deep in the hallway. "What's that?" Curious, Asta began to walk forward, trying to get a better view of the stranger in the hallway. A smile broke out on Asta's face as he noticed a pair of black-tipped ears and bolt-shaped tail. "Hey, it's Pikachu. What are you doing alone… little…. Guy?"
But the more Asta talked, the more he was able to see who it was… and it was NOT Pikachu.
The creature he was talking to was a small Pokémon whose body is almost entirely hidden under an old rag. Its beady black eyes are visible through holes in the body of its disguise, and the fringe of an amorphous foot or lower body is visible under the hem. The veil itself resembles a Pikachu. The cloth is yellow with black-tipped ears. The Pikachu face appears to be drawn with crayons, consisting of black eyes, red cheeks, and a squiggly black mouth. The head is hollow and can be used to store objects. It also carries a small stick resembling a lightning bolt to create a tail for its costume.
The moment the creature turned its head, which hung down limply, Asta and his Pokemon lost the color on their faces.
"(P-P-Pikachu)?" Scorbunny stuttered.
"M-Magna, sir? W-What happened t-to Pikachu?" Asta asked his superior with a scared tone.
"That's just Mimikyu." Magna told him with an amused grin.
"Mimikyu?" Asta questioned before he took out his magic mirror to learn about the new Pokemon.
"Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokemon. It wears a rag fashioned into a Pikachu costume in an effort to look less scary. Unfortunately, the costume only makes it creepier. Trust me, you do NOT want to make this thing mad."
"Yeah. The little guy's actually one of captain Yami's Pokemon. He acts like a bodyguard for the base, so expect to see him a lot." Magna explained before he looked at Mimikyu. "Hey Mimikyu! Come over here and meet our new recruits."
"(New friends)?" Mimikyu asked before he began to drag himself towards the group, which cause Asta and his Pokemon to flinch.
"(Ummm, hi)?" Scorbunny waved a paw in an attempt to greet Mimikyu. The small Pokemon continued to stare at them before two shadowy arms came out of the bottom of its disguise, moving towards Asta.
"Ummm…" Asta glanced at Magna, who gave him a nod. Gulping a bit, Asta reached out and grabbed Mimikyu's shadowy hand, shaking it. "Nice to meet you, Mimikyu." However, Asta felt something in his palm the moment he let go of Mimikyu's shadowy hand. Looking at his palm, Asta blinked at what he was holding.
It was a small cube of caramel candy.
"Candy?" Asta asked, utterly confused. The last thing he was expecting from Mimikyu was handing him candy.
"See? He's not a bad Pokemon. Sure, he's a little awkward when you meet him, but he's actually really nice. Hell, even gives out free candy… though I don't know where he gets it from." Magna explained to Asta as Mimikyu handed him a caramel as well. "Thanks, Mimikyu."
"(For new friends)..." Mimkyu turned towards the other Pokemon before extending his shadowy hands, showing them a few more caramel cubes.
"(Oh, well thanks)." Scorbunny said before he, Rookidee, Carkol and Timburr took the caramel, throwing it in their mouths. "(Wow. This is pretty good)." Seeing their Pokemon eat the candy, Asta decided to try his luck and threw his own caramel in his mouth. His eyes widened at the sweet flavor.
"This is delicious!" Asta exclaimed as he continued to chew his candy.
"I know, right?" Magna asked before he started eating his candy as well. "Don't worry. I'm sure Mimikyu will take a liking to you."
"(Goodbye, friends)..." Mimikyu gave them a wave before he began to walk past them to do his daily rounds.
"Though… it can be scary to see Mimikyu at night." Magna whispered to Asta as a warning.
Yet for some odd reason, Mimikyu sensed they were talking about him and turned his head, causing the group to freeze up in fear. The Ghost/Fairy Pokemon continued to stare at them before he looked ahead, continuing his patrol.
"... Let's just keep going." Magna told Asta.
"Yeah. We should." Asta quickly answered before the group continued their tour.
'Black Bulls lower level'
"And this is the room where you'll be doing your most important job." Magna told Asta as they stood in front of a rather large door with bars on top to look inside.
"Why does this door have locks on it?" Asta questioned as he pointed as the chains on the door handle.
"You'll find out. But first…" Magna reached to the side and took out a small bucket with meat inside, handing it to Asta. "You'll need this. Oh…" He then put a pair of large tongs on top. "And this too."
"(Why do I feel like this is a bad idea)?" Scorbunny questioned, not liking the vibes coming from the door.
"(You might want to stay out here)." Carkol told Scorbunny, much to his confusion.
"Alright, I'm unlocking the door." Magna took out a key and put it into the lock, causing it to open. Moving the chains away, Magna opened the door, which showed purple lights inside. "Well, in you go, Rasta!"
"Yes sir!" Asta rushed inside the room, to which Magna closed the door behind him. "Why'd you close the door?"
"Just in case he tries getting out." Magna told him with a smile.
"Wait… him?" Asta asked with a gulp.
*GRRRR*
Asta felt his soul freeze up when he heard something growl. Slowly turning his head, Asta noticed a large pair of broken bars several feet away from him. "Was something in here?!" Asta questioned Magna as he backed up to the door. However, as Asta looked at the bars… he noticed a pair of glowing eyes inside. "Oh no…"
*ROAR*
Just then, a large shadow suddenly flew out from the darkness, flying straight towards Asta.
"OH MY GOD!" All Asta could do was scream as the figure pounced on him, causing him to drop the bucket.
"(ASTA)!" Scorbunny and Rookidee shouted as they quickly ran towards the door, trying to pull it open.
"Hang on. Give him a minute." Magna told them with a finger raised.
"(Seriously?! Asta's being eaten and you want us to stay here)?!" Rookidee shouted at Magna with a serious glare.
"(Just relax. He's not dying)." Timburr reassured them, much to their confusion.
"HAHAHAHAHA! STOP IT! THAT TICKLES!" Scorbunny and Rookidee's confusion grew when they heard Asta laughing. They were expecting him to cry out for help, but it sounded like he was having fun.
"There, you see? He's fine." Magna reassured them with a smirk before he opened the door, allowing the two Pokemon to see what was 'attacking' Asta.
It was a three-headed, draconic Pokémon with six thin, black wings that each end in two points on its back. It has a fuchsia-colored collar on its neck which surrounds its head. The main head is dark blue and has black eyes with fuchsia pupils. Its two hands are also black and each one harbors a head; these are similarly blue with black eyes with small fuchsia collars on the inside. Its abdomen has two fuchsia stripes and its feet appear atrophied, having no claws or defined soles and two or three small toes. Its tail also sports a fuchsia stripe and ends with a black tuft.
"Okay, okay!" Asta kept laughing as the creature continued to lick him, petting its head in an attempt to push it away.
"(No. We will continue to play)!" The Pokemon roared as he continued to lick Asta's face, completely covering him in saliva.
"That's enough, Hydreigon. We won't wanna lose our newbies." Magna told the dragon-like Pokemon with a chuckle. However, that proved to be a mistake as the Pokemon looked up at Magna, causing him to widen his eyes. "Oh shit…"
"(GET OVER HERE)!" The Pokemon roared before he flew off of Asta, tackling Magna on the ground as he attacked him with a flurry of licks.
"DAMMIT! I JUST TOOK A BATH!" Magna yelled as he tried to get the Pokemon off of him, though its strength was too great.
"(Every time)." Carkol said with a shake of his head.
"(Wait, this is normal)?!" Scorbunny asked with a shocked tone. Asta wiped away the saliva before he took out his magic mirror and aimed it at the new Pokemon.
"Hydreigon, the Brutal responds to movement by attacking. This scary, three-headed Pokémon devours everything in its path! Seriously, why are you still looking at it? RUN!"
"Yeah… this… is… Yami's… strongest… Pokemon…" Magna started to explain between breaths as he rubbed Hydreigon's head. "In fact, this was Yami's FIRST Pokemon."
"Are you serious?! This is his first one?" Asta asked with a surprised gasp. He wasn't really shocked to see someone like Yami have a strong Pokemon, but the fact it was his first and was locked in this room raised a few eyebrows. "But if Hydreigon's that strong, why keep him here?"
"Oh, because Hydreigon's strong. He destroyed some villages a few weeks ago." Magna said with a casual shrug.
"(I hear Hydreigon and Jack's Haxorus got into a fight and almost blew up the capital)." Carkol added, making Scorbunny and Rookidee widened their eyes in shock.
"Wow, that's nuts." Asta said before he walked over to Hydreigon, patting his head. "Hey there. I'm Asta and these are my Pokemon. I hope we can be friends." Remembering what Magna gave him, Asta ran over the bucket, which luckily had one piece of meat that hadn't fallen on the ground. Picking it up, Asta offered it to Hydreigon with a smile. "Here! I bet you're hungry." Yami's Pokemon sniffed the piece of meat, causing his mouth to salivate. He then opened his mouth…
*Chomp*
But instead of the meat… Hydreigon bit Asta's head. "WWWWWHHHHHYYYYY?!" Asta yelled from inside of Hydreigon's head.
"Oh yeah, that. Make sure to throw the meat when you're feeding Hydreigon. Otherwise, he'll try and chomp on your head." Magna told Asta with a laugh as Asta's Pokemon worked to free their human from Hydreigon's mouth. "From now on, they'll be your job, so remember to feed Hydreigon in the afternoon and at night. Otherwise, we won't have a base left."
'Some time later'
The next few hours went by fast for Magna's little tour group. He showed Asta and his Pokemon the rest of the hideout's rooms, including the library, rec room, even the toilets… though they did accidentally walk into Yami using one of them, which resulted in a serious death threat.
Yet the whole, Asta, Scorbunny and even Rookidee were having a blast. As crazy as the Black Bulls were, all the rooms they had were interesting and there was so much they could do whenever they didn't have work.
"Come on! You gotta keep up, Rasta!" Magna called out as he ran through one of the halls, with Carkol and Timburr not too far behind him.
"Just wait! You haven't seen anything yet!" Asta yelled with an excited tone as Rookidee sat on his head and Scorbunny ran next to him.
"(Oh yeah? I can beat all of you)!" Scorbunny exclaimed before his body ignited via Flame Charge, increasing his speed.
"(Hey! That's cheating)!" Timburr yelled as he tried to catch up. However, no matter how fast he and the others ran, Scorbunny was just getting faster. Scorbunny took the chance to look over his shoulder with a proud grin on his face.
"(Eat my du)-"
*THUD*
The moment Scorbunny looked away, he crashed into a pair of legs in full force, causing him to roll back while holding his head. "(Owww)..." Scorbunny moaned in pain, rubbing his head to get rid of the pain.
"Huh?" Magna suddenly stopped running, causing Asta to run into him.
"Jeez, give a guy some warning next time, will you?" Asta asked his superior while rubbing his head.
"(Asta, look)." Rookidee called out while gently poking his partner's head, prompting him to look ahead.
"(Who did I run into)?" Scorbunny muttered to himself before he opened his eyes, only to widen them.
The person he had run into was none other than the girl who was at the Magic Knights Entrance Exam. Standing behind the girl was the same penguin Pokemon from before, only both of them had the Black Bulls robe and scarf.
"Who's she?" Asta couldn't help but ask, surprised to see someone else in the Black Bulls robe.
"Well, what do you know? It's your fellow rookie." Magna informed him with a smile, much to Asta's surprise. "She's our other new member this year."
"Wow, another rookie? Awesome! I'm glad to know me, Scorbunny and Rookidee aren't alone!" Asta said out loud, a big smile on his face. Yami did mention someone else was joining yesterday, and he was glad was getting to meet her now.
"You should watch where your Pokemon go." The girl said in an almost cold tone as she looked down at Scorbunny, who still looked at her.
"Oh! Right." Asta quickly rushed to his partner Pokemon and picked him up. "Sorry about that. We were racing and he must've gone too far. Hope he didn't hurt you."
"(Yeah… sorry)." Scorbunny apologized while giving a small bow. He then looked up and gave her a curious look. "(By the way, you guys were at the Magic Knights Exam, right)?"
"(Wait, you saw us)?" The penguin-like Pokemon asked in surprise. Asta noticed the little Pokemon before he took out his magic mirror and aimed it at the creature.
"Piplup, the Penguin Pokemon. A poor walker, it often falls down. However, its strong pride makes it puff up its chest without a care. Trust me, when you wanna hear about a cocky Pokemon, you should look for Piplup."
"(That's a lie! I'm a great walker)!" Piplup shouted with an annoyed tone, feeling insulted by the magic mirror's comment.
"Anyways, I hope we can be good friends!" Asta extended his hand towards the girl, giving her a bright smile. The girl simply looked at his hand, as if trying to analyze it. It confused Asta, but he wasn't the type of guy to rush things. As long as they agreed to be friends, it would be fi-
*Slap*
Asta, Magna and their Pokemon all widened their eyes in pure shock as the girl slapped the former's hand away.
"Don't speak to me so casually. You're an insect of a commoner with barely any mana." The girl said with a cold tone.
"Insect/(Insect)?!" Asta and his Pokemon questioned in shock.
"Jeez, commoner? Talk about cold." Magna commented with a raised brow.
"My name is Noelle Silva of the royal Silva family." The girl known as Noelle explained while putting a hand over her heart.
"No way!" Asta gasped with a comically shocked face. He was not expecting the new recruit of the Black Bulls to be royalty.
"(Well damn. I wasn't expecting that)." Timburr confessed with a whistle.
"I… uhhh… I didn't…" Asta began to stutter, trying to find the right words to say. After all, he was speaking to royalty and sister Lily always told him to respect royalty. Realizing what he should do, Asta quickly put Scorbunny down before he began bowing to Noelle like she was some sort of goddess. "I'm sorry! An insignificant insect like me should never have presumed to speak so informally to an exalted royal such as yourself!"
"(... Okay, I kinda wanna hit him now)." Carkol admitted as he stared at Asta blankly.
"(Should I worry)?" Rookidee asked Scorbunny with a blank look.
"(I guess sister Lily's teachings really did get in his head)." Scorbunny muttered, mildly embarrassed with how Asta was acting.
"As long as you understand." Noelle concluded, seemingly accepting Asta's apology.
"Who are you calling little insect?!" Asta shouted with an over exaggerated expression. "We joined the Magic Knights at the same time, didn't we?! Who cares if you're royalty?!"
"You tell her, Asta! Being royalty doesn't matter here!" Magna agreed with his fists clenched too.
"(Maybe we should teach these two how strong we are)!" Carkol shouted while stomping his feet on the ground, leaving a spider web of cracks.
"First, why don't you control that ugly, walking rock before it destroys the base?" Noelle asked rather bluntly, infuriating Carkol.
"(Say that again, you little punk)!" Carkol shouted as he prepared to rush towards Noelle, only for Timburr and Scorbunny to hold him back.
"(Woah, woah! Let's relax)!" Scorbunny tried to calm him down as he used his back on Carkol's face, trying his best to keep him away from the royal.
"You can mock me all you want, but I draw the line at mocking Carkol!" Magna shouted as he pointed a finger at her. "Plus, it doesn't matter if you're royalty or not when you're a Magic Knight!"
"It does, very much so." Noelle responded, infuriating them more.
"And what makes you so sure?!" Asta and Magna shouted as they got up to her face. Her response was a simple sigh.
"Foolish commoners." Noelle muttered to herself before she looked at them with a look of disappointment. " I suppose words aren't enough to make you understand."
"(Noelle)..." Piplup said in an almost disappointed tone, something the Pokemon caught. His eyes then widened as he saw Noelle's open her right hand to the other humans, covering it in a sphere of blue magic. "(Wait, don't)!"
"The difference between our magic power should get the point across." Noelle declared to Asta and Magna in a serious tone, ignoring Piplup's warning.
"H-Hey…" Asta and Magna both stepped back, shocked to see Noelle actually willing to attack them. Piplup quickly ran in front of Noelle, jumping up and down to get her attention.
"(Noelle, don't do it! You know you can't handle it)!" Piplup reasoned with a concerned tone.
"Get out of my way, Piplup." Noelle ordered her Pokemon, though she did appreciate his concern. 'Just stay calm and release.' Taking a deep breath, Noelle then started to form a ball of water, aiming it directly at Asta. "Don't forget your place again." With that, Noelle launched her magic attack towards Asta, making his eyes widen.
"(Asta, look out)!" Scorbunny cried out as he and the others were about to jump to help.
However… their help was unneeded as the water ball flew over him and Magna, going down the hallway.
*Splash*
The group could hear Noelle's attack strike something, though they didn't know who or what it was. A moment later, Mimikyu walked into the light, soaked in water.
"(... are we playing a game)?" Mimikyu asked, more curious than angry, with his fake head tilting to the side creepily.
"What the hell was that?!" Magna questioned as he looked at Noelle, who almost looked a bit embarrassed by what happened.
"(Was she trying to hit Mimikyu or did she just miss)?" Rookidee asked in a confused tone.
"That Pokemon shouldn't have been in the way." Noelle scoffed while turning away.
"Are you serious? You couldn't even control that attack!" Magna pointed out, getting a glare from Noelle.
"(O-Okay, let's calm down)." Piplup tried to defuse the situation, only for Carkol to step in front of him.
"(Or what, little bird? Your human's pissing me off)." Carkol growled, making Piplup gulp.
"(Carkol, he didn't do anything. Leave him alone)." Scorbunny warned the larger Pokemon, surprising Piplup.
"(I gotta agree with Carkol. Maybe we should teach her a thing or two)." Timburr added, agreeing with Carkol.
"Seriously, what kind of crazy are you?" Magna asked, unsure of what to think of Noelle at this point. "I'm your superior and that Mimkyu's captain Yami's! You know how much trouble you'll be in?"
"That's nice, but I'm royalty." Noelle shot back before she looked down at the Pokemon. "And Piplup's a royal's Pokemon, so they might want to show him more respect."
"Well, I don't care if you and your Pokemon are royalty or the sister of the Silver Eagles' captain!" Magna yelled as he took off his glasses to show how serious he was. His words surprised Asta and Scorbunny.
"(So THAT'S why you were talking to him)!" Scorbunny exclaimed as he looked at Piplup, who turned away in shame.
"Yami's the ONLY person I know who would ever take in someone crazy like you! So you might wanna show some damn gratitude, you royal brat!" Magna told her with a fiery glare. "I was holding off cause you're a woman, but now I think it's time for your baptism." Noelle simply said nothing and everyone looked at her, wondering what she'll do. Piplup felt rather nervous, especially since these people were accusing his best friend of being mean when they didn't understand what she went through.
Then… Noelle unclipped her Black Bulls robe, tossing it to Magna's feet.
"Don't even bother. We quit this stupid squad." Noelle finally said with a serious tone, shocking them all. None of them expected her to actually quit, though Magna and his Pokemon didn't seem as affected. Turning her heel, Noelle began to walk away, but not before she looked over to Piplup. "Take off that scarf. We're leaving."
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Magna questioned as he picked up her robes, glaring at her.
"We're leaving before the filth of the Black Bulls has a chance to rub off on us." Noelle answered with her own glare. Everyone knows you're the worst of the worst Magic Knights squad. This is hardly the place for a royal like me." And with that, she walked away.
"How dare you!" Magna yelled with a big tick mark on his head. "Get back here and apologize to the robe and Yami!"
"I gave everything to get that robe… and she threw it away like nothing…" Asta muttered with his eyes the size of dinner plates.
"(Well, what are you gonna do, little bird)?" Carkol questioned Piplup, who watched Noelle walk away with a frown. Piplup then reached out to grab his scarf, his fin shaking a bit. With a growl, Piplup pulled the scarf off his neck and handed it to Scorbunny, who took it with a frown.
"(You're really leaving, huh)?" Scorbunny asked with a concerned tone. He won't lie and say he appreciated what Noelle was saying to Asta and Magna, but it looked like Piplup was genuinely concerned for her, which meant there was more than what everyone was seeing. Piplup then began to make his way out of the hideout. However, he soon stopped and turned back to everyone.
"What do you want?" Magna asked with narrowed eyes. If Piplup was anything like his partner, then Magna didn't want anything to do with him.
"(I… I…. I'M SORRY)!" Everyone was caught off guard when Piplup bowed his head and apologized. "(Noelle isn't as bad as you think. It's just… she…. She had it hard! I'm sorry if she made you mad)!" Before anyone could ask him anything, Piplup began to run after Noelle, leaving them speechless.
"Wow… did that really just happen?" Asta asked everyone before he glanced at Scorbunny. "What do you think, pal?"
"(Honestly)?" Scorbunny said before he frowned and looked at the scarf in his paws. "(I have no idea)."
'Several hours later'
Asta and his Pokemon felt rather awkward going through the Black Bulls hideout after what happened with Noelle earlier. There was just something about her that threw them all off, but they couldn't understand what it was. Not to mention how Piplup actually bowed to them and apologized, which meant there was something about Noelle that they didn't know.
"Geez, how did we end up here?" Asta asked as he and Scorbunny walked outside, with the former having a look of confusion. "All I wanted to do was go to the bathroom."
"(Well, Magna did say the rooms shift)." Scorbunny responded as he bounced around, allowing his legs to get some much needed exercise. "(Maybe I should've stayed back in the room with Rookidee. But, oh well)."
"It's a nice day, at least." Asta admitted as he took a deep breath…
*SPLASH*
"AAAAHHHH!" However, the moment of peace was short-lived as he was hit by a large waterball, causing him to fall on the ground, soaking wet.
"(Asta)!" Scorbuny quickly rushed to Asta's side. "(Are you okay)?"
"I'm fine, pal." Asta reassured his Pokemon before he looked at his clothes. "Jeez, what was that?" He looked down and noticed a sizable crater in front of him, likely from that water attack.
"(I think I hear someone over there)." Scorbunny pulled on Asta's shorts while gesturing forward. Asta nodded and followed his partner Pokemon into the bushes. However, once they poked their heads through, they found something that surprised them.
"Dammit!" Standing in the middle of the forest, panting tiredly, was none other than Noelle. She was glaring at a single tree, which had a white bull's eye on it, as well as several craters with small puddles inside. Next to Noelle was Piplup, who was looking at her with a deep frown.
"What are they doing?" Asta whispered, curious about why the recent dropouts of the Black Bulls were in the forest.
"(Remember, you can't be tense)." Piplup instructed Noelle as he stepped up so he was in her field of vision. "(It's all about keeping your center. Let the magic flow through you and)..." Taking a deep breath, Piplup began to channel his magic into his mouth. "(FIRE)!" He then unleashed a barrage of bubbles forward, striking the target perfectly. Ceasing with his attack, Piplup glanced over to Noelle and gestured to her to try. "(Your turn)."
"Okay… I can do this…" Noelle said to herself as she took a deep breath like Piplup, trying to do what he did. Narrowing her eyes, Noelle began to summon yet another ball of water from her hands, aiming it at the bull's eye. She then launched the water ball at high speed… only for it to curve to the right… towards Asta and Scorbunny.
"CRAP/(CRAP)!" Asta and Scorbunny yelped as they were struck by Noelle's water ball, sending them flying back.
"Why won't it work?" Noelle said with a frustrated tone before she launched another water ball, only for it to curve away. "Why. Can't. I. Ever. Hit. What. I'm. Aiming. FOR?!" With each word, Noelle launched another water ball, which missed over and over again. She eventually stopped and panted heavily.
"(It'll be okay, Noelle)." Piplup tried to reassure her as he went over to pat her leg. "(You just need a little more)-"
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO PITY ME!" Noelle suddenly shouted at Piplup, causing him to recoil in shock. It took a moment for Noelle to realize what she did before she got on her knees and pick up her partner, hugging him with a guilty expression. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell…"
"(I know. It's okay)." Piplup said softly as he returned her hug. Sure, being yelled at wasn't something he liked, but this was Noelle. He knew what kind of upbringing she had.
"It's true… everything they said about me…" Noelle whimpered, tears threatening to fall down her eyes.
"Did you hear? Apparently, the youngest Silva child has no control over her magic power."
"For someone like that to be born into the royal family? It must be difficult for the Silvas."
"That sad Grimoire of yours is practically paper thin! Are you sure you're even royalty?!"
"I feel sorry for that little Pokemon of yours. He must feel tired protecting you all the time!"
"Not being able to control your magic is the most pitiful thing I've ever heard! To think you're my sister. It's embarrassing!"
"You will never be a member of the Silver Eagles." Nozel told Noelle with a look of disgust. "There is no room for you in my squad for a disgrace like you. A disgrace and a mistake. Why wasn't it you who died instead of our mother?"
"What an abject failure."
"I'm…. I'm not a failure." Noelle said with sudden determination as she released Piplup, standing back up while charging her magic. "Someday, I will make you accept me!" However, once she fired it, it missed. Letting out a frustrated scream, Noelle continued to fire water balls without any concern for hitting the target.
"Poor Noelle." Asta muttered, feeling sorry for the royal girl. The way she was acting kinda reminded him of how he was back in Hage, with everyone looking down on him for not having magic.
"(I guess Piplup was right about her)." Scorbunny added with a deep frown. However, as he leaned in to get a better look, he accidentally caused the bushes to rustle. Noelle and Piplup both widened their eyes as they noticed Asta and Scorbunny. "(... Oops)."
"Hey there." Asta greeted as he stood up, giving Noelle and Piplup a wave.
"(How long have you been watching us)?!" Piplup asked with a comically surprised look.
"(Not that long)..." Scorbunny responded with a sheepish smile.
"Little insects…" Noelle gritted her teeth in irritation. 'They're going to mock me… just like the others…'
"Hey, are you…" Asta started, only for Noelle to hear the voices of those who mocked her ring through her head. She began to pant rather frantically, something Piplup noticed.
"(Hey, are you okay)?" Piplup asked as he rubbed Noelle's leg.
"NO!" Noelle extended both hands towards Asta, covering them with water magic. Unlike the others, their water ball was rather large, something that caused Asta and Scorbunny to step back.
However, before Noelle could launch it, the water ball suddenly absorbed her inside, causing her to gasp for air.
"(NOELLE)!" Piplup shouted as he rushed towards the water ball, only for him to bounce off it the moment he touched it. The water ball soon grew into a large orb of unstable water magic, which began to carry Noelle higher in the air.
"OH CRAP!" Asta yelled in horror as he saw tornados of water shoot out of the orb, hitting the forest at random. To make matters worse, the orb soon hovered over the Black Bulls hideout, growing even larger. "WE GOTTA GO!" Asta ran over and scooped Piplup in his arms before running towards the hideout, with Scorbunny following suit.
"(This is bad! This is REALLY, REALLY BAD)!" Scorbunny yelled out as he and Asta ran as fast as they could to avoid being destroyed by the unstable magic. As they continued to run, the two noticed the rest of the Black Bulls standing in front of the hideout, staring at the unstable magic water.
"That's magic power gone out of control." Gauche said out loud.
"And a whole hell of a lot of it." Magna added with some sweat running down his head. He hadn't felt something like this in a while, not since he first met Yami.
"(It appears that someone is in the middle of it all)." Kadabra pointed out as he pointed to the middle of the water.
"(Oh, it's that girl who joined)." Purloin commented with a lazy tone.
Inside the water, Noelle struggled to hold her breath while containing her magic, though both proved too much for her.
"Well, attacking the thing with magic's out of the question." Yami said with a sigh. "She's gonna get hurt if we try."
"(Then again, it's not any different from what we've done)." Tauros said with no sign of remorse.
"(Of course we shouldn't attack her. The poor girl obviously can't control her mana)!" Leavanny scolded the bull Pokemon with a frown.
"Why not try your Spatial Magic to pull her out?" Yami questioned Finral.
"Please, be reasonable." Finral told Yami as he looked at Noelle. "There's no way I can get close to that. Even if I had Kadabra use Teleport, he wouldn't be able to get her without getting hurt."
"Man, if only we had SOMEONE around here who could cancel out magic." Yami called out in a loud tone, as if trying to get the attention of a certain idiot. Rookidee flew in the air, trying to find Asta and Scorbunny.
"(Hey, I think I see them)!" Rookidee called out as he saw his partners… only for them to be hit by Noelle's magic, sending them flying in the air. "(... And here they come)."
"AAAAAHHHHHH!" Asta, Piplup and Scorbunny all continued to fall towards the Black Bulls, unable to stop their descent. However, Yami raised his arms, catching Asta by the back of his shirt while he grabbed Scorbunny by his ears.
"(Thanks, Yami)..." Scorbunny said with a dizzy tone.
"You picked the right time to drop in, kid." Yami told Asta, getting his attention. "You see that big pool of mana? Do something about it, alright?"
"Me?!" Asta asked while using a finger to point to himself. Then again, with his magic-canceling sword, he might be able to stop her before she could have the chance to hurt everyone. "Alright! I'll try my best!"
"(That was quick)." Pikachu commented with a head tilt.
"Hang on, before that…" Asta gestured towards Piplup, who was still in his arms. "Can I put this little guy down?"
"Yeah, go ahead." Yami released Asta's shirt, allowing him to land on his butt. Ignoring the pain, Asta gently put Piplup back on his feet.
"There. You stay here and we'll rescue Noelle, okay?" Asta told the Water Pokemon in a soft tone as he started to stand up. However, he was halted when Piplup grabbed his hand, shaking a bit.
"(Please)..." Piplup muttered, getting Asta's attention. He lifted his head, showing the tears in his eyes. "(Save her. Please save Noelle)!"
"Huh?" Asta blinked a bit as he stared at Piplup. He didn't know how or why, but for some reason… he could hear, no, he could FEEL Piplup's emotions. Then, a very faint blue light surrounded Piplup as he cried, as if conveying what he was actually feeling. 'Hang on. This is kinda like what happened with Scorbunny when that guy was stealing Yuno's Grimoire. Is this… magic?!' As much as Asta wanted to explore this strange feeling, he knew what he had to do now. With a soft smile, Asta patted Piplup on the head. "I know." He then stood up, walking past Piplup and staring at Noelle. "So… how do I get up there?"
"Easy." Yami grabbed the back of Asta's shirt once again, holstering him back as his magic covered his body. "Suck it up and push past your limits!"
And with that, Yami threw Asta towards Noelle as fast and hard as he could, causing the magicless teen to scream in horror.
"(Seriously?! Again)?!" Scorbunny questioned as he glared at Yami for throwing Asta yet again. Asta, noticing how close he was getting to Noelle and her unstable magic, quickly took out his Grimoire, grabbing the handle of his large sword and drawing it. And with a battlecry, Asta slashed through Noelle's magic in full force, causing it to disperse and shower the forest in water.
Once the magic was dispelled, Noelle was able to open her eyes, catching the sight of Asta looking at her.
For a moment, just a moment, their eyes met.
Yet a moment later, they realized something.
They were still in the air.
"Oh no…" Asta muttered before he and Noelle began to fall. "WE'RE DEAD!" Their Pokemon gasped in shock, trying to think of ways to save them.
However, their concern was not needed as both humans were covered in blue outlines, slowing down their descent. "Huh?"
"(Stay calm)!" Kadabra said as he and Mr. Mime's eyes were glowing blue, their hands extended to help bring down Asta and Noelle via Psychic. Soon, the two Psychic Pokemon were able to gently put down both humans, releasing them from their spells. "(There. Now, I hope everyone is calm now)."
"Good work, Kadabra." Finral told his Pokemon while patting his back.
"I didn't die!" Asta shouted to the sky, the adrenaline still flowing through his body.
"(Asta)!" Scorbunny quickly jumped into Asta's shoulder while Rookidee landed on his head, both happy to see him alive.
"Hahahahaha!" Yami simply laughed out of amusement. Asta was just that entertaining to him, hence why he brought him into the Black Bulls… among other things.
"Thanks for the help. I thought we were done for." Asta thanked Finral and Gauche's Pokemon, only for the latter to walk over to him and hand him a towel.
"(Please dry off before you come inside. I really don't like wet floors)." Mr. Mime told Asta, who grabbed it and began drying himself off.
"It's no problem. If you need a portal or someone to carry you, just ask for us." Finral told him with a thumbs up.
"You pulled it off, kid. Good job." Yami complimented Asta with a grin.
"Thank you, sir!" Asta said while standing up straight.
"(NOELLE)!" Piplup cried out as he ran over to his partner with tears running down his eyes. Noelle sat up upon hearing Piplup call out to her, only for said Pokemon to tackle her chest in a big hug. "(I was so scared! You were losing control and they said you might explode or something! I don't wanna be alone)!" Piplup didn't care if anyone was watching him as he cried into Noelle's chest.
"Oh Piplup…" Noelle muttered with tears in her eyes before she hugged Piplup. She already felt scared with what happened, but it made her feel even worse when she saw how devastated Piplup was. The last thing she wanted was to hurt him.
"Hey, Noelle?" The silver haired girl widened her eyes as she looked up, seeing Asta walk over to her with an unreadable expression. She then frowned and looked down, mentally preparing herself for the mocking, though it wasn't something new to her. "You know…"
'It's just like everyone else…' She thought with a whimper.
"YOU'VE GOT SOME CRAZY MAGIC POWER! IT'S FREAKING AMAZING!" Asta shouted with an awed expression.
"H-Huh?" Noelle expected to be called a lot of things, but being called amazing was not one of them. She and Piplup looked up to Asta with surprised expressions.
"Really! I'm totally jealous of you!" Asta confessed as he put a hand on his chest. "I mean I have no magic at all, so seeing how much you have is just crazy." He then gave her a smile. "All you need is a little more training to get it under control and you'll be a great Magic Knight! Strong, even unstoppable!"
"(Trust me. Asta's not wrong)." Scorbunny said with his own smile.
"(You might need to fix the attitude, but I think you can be an okay human)." Rookidee added with a small smirk.
"(Y-You guys aren't mocking her. You really think she can get stronger)?" Piplup questioned, unsure of what he heard.
"(Of course we do. After all, look at us)." Scorbunny gestured to the three of them. "(None of us are strong alone, but together, we are. And I saw the way you worked to help Noelle. You're a good Pokemon, Piplup)."
Noelle felt her lips quiver, seeing how genuine Asta and his Pokemon were being towards her and Piplup. "Little inse-" She stopped herself from saying her insult as she swallowed her pride. "A-Asta."
"Man, we really gotta work hard, you guys. Otherwise, we'll never catch up to Noelle and Yuno!" Asta told his Pokemon with a determined expression.
"You seriously ran away just cause you can't control your magic?" Magna asked with a raised brow. "You should've said that soon, you royal brat. We could've helped you." He then gave her a smirk as he gestured to everyone. "I mean come on. We ARE the Black Bulls, after all. We're a whole squad of failures." Vanessa chuckled before she extended her wand up, allowing the Black Bulls robe and scarf Noelle and Piplup had discarded earlier hover above them. "So you got a weakness or three and maybe your Pokemon's small. That doesn't matter to us, you dummies." The robe and scarf then got on Noelle and Piplup, who looked at it in awe.
"We're just glad you're alright." Finral told Noelle with a wink. "And I know a place with good pasta if you wanna go one day.
"(Forgive him. But we are glad to see nothing terrible has happened)." Kadabra stated with a small smile.
"Forget pasta! Try a bite of this!" Charmy said as she took out a piece of her cupcake and offered it to Noelle.
"(And if you need a good topping, let me know)." Alcreamie added before Snorlax scooped up some of her cream, licking it.
"(It's really, really good)." Snorlax said with a sigh of satisfaction.
"That was quite the show. I happen to be particularly gifted at controlling magic power. If you want, I can help you train with your magic." Vanessa told Noelle before giving a sly smirk. "And I can also give you some womanly advice."
"(Vanessa, don't embarrass the poor girl)." Leavanny nudged her human partner with a giggle.
"I'll tell you all about my angelic sister, Marie." Gauche spoke up as he looked at her picture.
"I think we should start out as friends and see where it goes from there." Gordon muttered, though his expression was sincere.
"(Just make sure not to hurt Gordon or we WILL have problems)." Scolipede warned her in a serious tone.
Noelle felt hot new tears run down her eyes, though they weren't out of sadness. These people, this group of misfits… they actually believed in her. The only one who actually stood up for her was Piplup and her other Pokemon, yet no one else even bothered to care for her. So to hear the Black Bulls offer her help with her magic was something that warmed her heart. She felt Piplup move out of her arms, giving her a smile.
"(You see? These people aren't as bad as you think)." Piplup told her in a warm tone. "(We can have a fresh new start here)." Seeing the expression on her Pokemon's face made Noelle tear up even more.
"Here." Asta kneeled down to Noelle and offered a hand. "Stand up and come with us. We;ll do our best together!" Noelle looked at Asta with a small blush, feeling something strange in her chest.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, Noelle reached out and grabbed Asta's hand. "I-I'm looking forward to working with you… A-Asta." She finally said in an embarrassed tone, making Asta smile more as he pulled her back on her feet.
"Awesome!" Asta cheered as he let go off Noelle's hand, pumping a fist in the air. "Now we can get to know each other more! What do you guys think?"
"(I'm okay with it)." Scorbunny said as he hopped off of Asta's shoulder, hopping in front of Noelle with a paw extended. "(Hi there. Nice to finally meet you, Noelle)." The silver haired girl widened her eyes at the sight of Scorbunny, her hands shaking a bit. She didn't want to say it before, but Scorbunny was just… he was…. SO FREAKING CUTE!
"H-Hello." Trying to compose herself, Noelle reached out and gently grabbed Scorbunny's paw to shake it. Unfortunately for her, the moment Scorbunny gave her a big grin, she lost all control as she pulled him into a hug. "AWWWW, YOU'RE ADORABLE!"
"(Wait, what)?!" Scorbunny gasped, shocked to see the change in demeanor from Noelle. One minute, she was a meek teenage girl. The next, she was acting like a giddy little girl. Not to mention the way she was hugging him was making it hard for him to breath.
"(Oh yeah. Noelle kinda has a soft spot for cute things)." Piplup informed Scorbunny before puffing his chest. "(Of course, I'M the cutest)."
"(Asta… help… me)..." Scorbunny wheezed as he reached out to his partner.
Unfortunately, Asta didn't understand his words and just chuckled.
"It looks like you and Noelle hit it off great, little buddy." Asta told his Pokemon with a thumbs up.
"(TRAITOR)!" Scorbunny's cry was heard by everyone in the forest.
Wow, what a long chapter. Yes, it might basically follow what happened in canon, but I did laugh at the new additions to the chapter, especially the Mimikyu part. Before anyone asks why Gordon isn't the one who has Mimikyu, remember that Yami takes in all strays, so it would make sense if he took in Mimikyu. And don't worry, we'll see more of the little guy.
As for Hydreigon being alone, it kinda makes sense since if Yami's pets from canon were in the same room… only Hydreigon would be left standing. I hope you guys will be hyped to see Hydreigon in action in the future.
Trust me, the next few arcs will have some original chapters and some new Pokemon. I know you might ask me what I think of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: it looks nice, but I wanna see more. The recent Pokemon games just kinda feel too easy, but let's hope they either stop making new regions or make it hard again.
