Jackson and Roxana were sleeping one night, everything was peaceful and calm. It was quite, until. "Ahh!" Roxana bolted up from the bed, this frightened Jackson, "Honey, what's wrong?" "Jackson." Roxana said, "I think my water just broke?" "What!?" Jackson yelled, "The baby isn't due for another week. We gotta get you to the hospital immediately." Jackson put on his clothes, the certificate, attached his robotic arm and covered it up with fake fur. He got Roxana and the two head for the ship. "We will be at the hospital in half an hour." Jackson said, "Make sure to breath." He started up his ship and were off.
Half an hour later and Jackson & Roxana were at the hospital, Roxana was breathing heavily while her husband lifted her to the front desk, a doctor was called and Roxana was placed on a bed and taken to the maternity ward. Jackson leaned down to his wife and kissed her and said, "I'll see you soon." The orange and light blue Lombax looked on as his wife was wheeled away to deliver the baby. He head to the waiting room and wandered about. He thought endlessly about whether to hide his robot arm or not.
He heard Roxana scream in pain and breathing while the doctors told her to push. Jackson continued to walk about the waiting room until the screaming ended. Jackson turned his head to the door and headed close to it and heard crying. Then a robot doctor popped their head out, "Mr Solar." It said, "Congratulations. Your wife has given birth to a lovely baby boy. Would you like to see it in a minute?" Jackson's face began to form a smile, he began to laugh and when a minute passed, walked in and saw Roxana holding the new-born baby in her arms.
The little Lombax mouse had light-grey fur like Roxana and light-blue stripes like Jackson. "He's beautiful." Jackson whispered, "This is probably the best day of my life." Then a doctor came in asking for the certificate, Jackson handed it over. "So, what is the name you two decided on?" Jackson looked at his wife, who was beginning to fall asleep while a nurse lifted the new-born to place it with all the others. "William." Jackson said, "William Mark Halliburton Solar." The doctor pulled out a pen and wrote down the name and the time and date of birth.
Hours later and Roxana woke up with Jackson sleeping on the seat beside her. "Wake up." She whispered into her husbands ear, "Did you give the doctor the certificate?" Jackson opened up his eyes, "Oh" He said sleepily, "Yeah. William has also been taken to where the other new-borns are, so we can see him. He has your fur and my stripes. I never thought that being a father was so great." More hours passed and the two Lombaxes walked up to a window and saw their newly-born child. "He's adorable. Isn't he?" Roxana asked. "Yeah." Jackson replied, "He's probably the first Lombax to be born after the banishment. And that's something to talk about." Jackson then looked at his wife, "If anything were to happen to him, we will be there for him." Roxana said, "I don't want him to go the way like the rest of our kind." "Yes, he is our son. And will forever be our son." Jackson responded as he smiled, still looking at his child.
The next day, Jackson and Roxana took William home and showed him to all of their friends and co-workers. They congratulated the two and some were able to hold the new-born Lombax mouse. Jackson went back to work days later to finish up on some projects, while Roxana would return to work when William turned 7 months old. They hired a babysitter to look after the baby. One night, Jackson walked past Roxana, she was holding the same picture of her and her siblings. "Hey, Roxy." Jackson said, "Why haven't you framed that thing yet?" "I was thinking of giving it to William when he's at a reasonable age." Roxana answered, "I want to tell him about his family sooner or later. Especially when he finds out about his cousins." Jackson walked up to his wife, "Angela & Emilia will be found soon enough. We don't know where they might be. But we know, they will be found, and William will be able to meet them." The two then opened up William's room. Roxana walked up to the baby and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Good night, sweet prince." She said. "You'll be a great kid in the future." Jackson said. The two walked out and closed the door.
The three lived together with no trouble, but things would soon change when William turned 4 years old.
