Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Goblin and the spider. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Spiderman, Marvel and Disney do.
"Ok, I'm here." Hobgoblin said while landing his glider on the rooftop. "Where are you Ms. Watson?" Hobgoblin asked before hearing the sound of a web strand.
"Right here." Hobgoblin before blinking as a figure landed on the roof. "I'm actually surprised you reached out despite being so new to the scene." Hobgoblin heard as he hummed.
The woman curiously looked like Spider-Man, but with much blacker and redder instead of any blue or white. She did however, sound female like he had heard before.
"Well, it is always good to clear the air, right?" Hobgoblin asked while stepping off his glider. "And what better way to do that than an interview? Give people a first-hand scoop? I to be HONEST? Didn't expect YOU to show up with all due respect." Hobgoblin said as he sat down on an air conditioning unit.
"Fair enough." The figure said before Hobgoblin cleared his throat.
"I know this sounds weird besides… This?" Hobgoblin stated while gesturing to both him and her. "But I think it would be good to have names. I don't think calling you 'Ms. Reporter' helps this sound professional." Hobgoblin said while he crossed his arms.
"Fair enough. But you can call me MJ or Spider Woman." The figure said to which Hobgoblin hummed and nodded with amusement. "Ok, so what about you 'Mr. Goblin?' There's been one person to use that name, why name yourself after someone who brought chaos and destruction to our fair city?" Spider Woman asked as she held the microphone up and turned it on.
"Because I want to bring something new to the title." Hobgoblin responded, trying to find a balance where he wouldn't set off the microphone. "I know Green Goblin. He tore up the city, chased Spider-Man around… I decided I'd take that title and bring some honor back to it. Prove the goblin name isn't just held by a tyrant." Hobgoblin said while looking at Spider Woman to see if she was picking it up.
"And those who say you're a vigilante?" Spider Woman asked while leaning on the ac unit. "Many have started to think your trying to fill Spidey's shoes as another newbie hero." Spider Woman stated to which Hobgoblin hummed and started to wave his hands.
"I'd say let them think what they want." Hobgoblin responded and shrugged. "Even if Spider-Man might not believe it? I look up to him. The guy inspires people to stand up for what's right. Maybe I am some rookie, but Spidey? Spidey started from the bottom of the ladder, why can't I?" Hobgoblin asked and crossed his legs under him.
"Hmm, interesting." Spider Woman said before an explosion cut the duo off. "Looks like we're going to have to postpone the questions for another session, yeah?" Spider Woman said as Hobgoblin nodded.
He then boarded his glider as Spider Woman looked at him. She shut off her microphone.
"Need a lift?" Hobgoblin asked as he put his hands on his hips. "I honestly don't want to have to do this alone. I'm still a rookie, like you said… I'd like some backup. If you can trust me on that." Hobgoblin said as Spider Woman cocked an eyebrow and then turned to look to the side.
"How can I trust you?" Spider Woman asked to which he got a shrug.
"You can't, I guess." Hobgoblin stated and powered up the glider. "But I don't want any trouble unless their on the bad guy's side." Hobgoblin said before the glider floated up into the air.
Spider Woman looked at Hobgoblin for a second before firing a web line to the bottom of his glider. Hobgoblin turned and sped off towards the fires, he hummed and blinked.
"Do you know anyone who would want to do this?" Hobgoblin asked while he and Spider Woman raced through the air. "I been fighting plenty of criminals at the moment. I don't know who exactly would want to be behind something like this, it's a bit off-putting having so many villains around." Hobgoblin said while he thought to himself.
Spider Woman knew for a fact that there were far more greater threats in town. While Hydra, Doc Ock, and all the other villains were defeated? MJ knew for a fact that more would rise to take their place.
"You know, I'm a big talker." Hobgoblin said before shaking a sharp turn. "But not the best fighter, if it wasn't for this gear? I wouldn't be anywhere close to being a hero…" Hobgoblin said before the smoke was blown away by another explosion.
What was causing this? He hadn't seen any major explosives on anyone he fought. Hobgoblin didn't know anyone with the destruction filled appetite to do anything close… Then again? He was new to crime fighting, Spider Woman probably knew far more than he did.
That was to be expected of a hero… And he was still learning the ropes of it. Hobgoblin said while he cracked a small smile under his costume.
"Keep them busy, boss man said to keep them busy!" One of the men said while he aimed his rifle at them.
Hobgoblin watched Spider Woman leap free of the glider, aiming a kick at one of the men. She knocked him into the truck, denting it and knocking him out.
Hobgoblin rode towards the thugs in question, slamming his glider into one of the thugs. The man was knocked across the ground before he flew the spider into the sky. He knew very well that whoever these men were? They were indeed working for the same master he had been fighting.
And now he had a way to figure out whom that was… And he would. That leader had been cutting open New York… And he refused to allow them to dine on New York.
"Man, this is something else." Hobgoblin said as he looked at the pumpkin bombs on his glider. "No, that'd kill them. I'm not going to sink to their level." Hobgoblin said before turning to swoop back down.
Spider Woman then roundhouse kicked one of the thugs, throwing the man to the ground. Another thug looked at her before bringing up his gun.
"Heads up!" Hobgoblin said and smashed into the thug, punching him in the face. The man crumpled to the ground. "I wish we had some backup." Hobgoblin said as he gunned the glider to dodge gunfire.
He knew it would only take a single good bullet to kill him. He didn't know if his armor was bulletproof… And he didn't want to even consider it.
Spider Woman dodged a few bullets before grabbing the man by the arm. She looked at Hobgoblin who was trying to hold back.
