Morning hit and They woke up and got breakfast. They met up with Ruby and Yang in the locker room and started chatting with them.
"You seem a little chipper today," Hailey said to Ruby.
"Yep! No more award small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking," Ruby said, stroking her weapon.
"Well, reminder, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together." Yang said.
"Ugh, You sound just like dad," Ruby groaned. "First of all, what does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people to help me grow! I drink milk!"
"Well what about when we form teams?" yang asked.
"Um, I don't know I...I'll just be on your team then," Ruby said nervously.
"Maybe you should try being on someone else's team," Yang suggested. Ruby pointed a finger at her accusingly
"My dearest sister yang, are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?" Ruby said accusingly.
"What? No! Of course, I do! I just thought...I don't know, maybe it would help you... break out of your shell." Yang said defensively.
"What the-?! I don't need to 'break out of my shell' that's simply ridiculous" Ruby said as Jaune walked past us.
"Ruby, I can speak from experience to say that Yang's right," Sean said. "Getting out of your shell will help you in the long run."
Dakota then overheard Jaune talking to Weiss and another person. She had red hair in a ponytail and green eyes. She was wearing an overbust brown corset, brown opera-length gloves, a red ankle length sash, and a black a line mini skirt. On her head she had a brown circlet adorned with a few small green emeralds on chains. She was wearing armor that included bronze greaves, a pair of cuisses. Finally she was wearing high heeled boots. So Dakota went over to introduce himself. The three stopped talking when they noticed Dakota coming over to them.
"Hi," Dakota greeted kinda awkwardly.
"Hello!" The girl greeted.
"Oh hey Dakota," Jaune said. Weiss just scoffed when she saw him.
"Is there something you want?" Weiss asked quite condescendingly.
"I just….wanted to say hi, and meet a new person." Dakota said, gesturing to the girl.
"Don't you know who that is?" Weiss asked.
"No, not at all," Dakota said which shocked both Weiss and the girl.
"This is Pyrrha Nikos!" Weiss said. "She graduated top of her class at sanctum!"
"Okay," Dakota said, confused.
"She won the mistral region tournaments four years in a row." Weiss scoffed
"Good for her," Dakota said.
"She was on the box of pumpkin pete's Marshmallow flakes." Weiss finished.
"Haven't heard of it," Dakota said. Boh Weiss and Pyrrha just looked at him with shocked faces. Another person hadn't heard of pyrrha nikos.
"Okay, anyway Jaune I think you would make a great team leader," Pyrrah said, turning her attention away from Dakota.
"Looks like Pyrrha's on board with team Jaune." Jaune said, getting a little closer to Weiss.
"Okay that's too close. Pyrrah could you help please?" Weiss asked. Pyrrha threw her weapon which was a spear/short sword that could become a rifle at Jaune pinning him to the wall.
"I'm sorry." She said.
"Would all first-hand year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation," Mrs Goodwitch said through the speaker. Weiss and Pyrrha left but not before saying "it was nice meeting you."
"Likewise," Jaune said back slumping . Everyone else then walked up.
"Having trouble there, lady killer?" Yang asked.
"I just don't get it. My father said all girls look for is confidence. Where did I go wrong?" Jaune said, looking defeated.
"Snow angel" was probably not the way to go," Dakota said, helping Jaune up. They began heading out until Dakota accidentally ran into someone. This person turned around and grabbed Dakota by the collar frightening him and caught Sean's attention.
"Hey guys I'll be right back," Sean said to everyone else. Everyone else was confused until they saw where Sean was going.
Back with Dakota he was looking his man straight in his eyes. This person was certainly taller than Dakota. He had indigo eyes and combed back orange hair. He was wearing silver armor with gold trimming. On his chest plate there was an engraving of a bird. Underneath the armor he was wearing a black shirt and black pants along with silver boots. "Hey buddy, what's the big idea," he said, trying to be as intimidating as possible.
"Look, it was an accident. Please just let me go." Dakota begged. The man laughed and said.
"Oh no, you're not getting off that easy" the man pulled his fist back, but he was interrupted by Sean.
"Excuse me sir," Sean said, which got their attention. "Could you explain to me why you happen to be grabbing my brother by the collar."
"Why does this have anything to do with you, shrimp?!" The guy said.
"Again that's my brother, and if you don't let him go I'm going to get violent." Sean said. The guy just laughed in Sean's face.
"Like you can do anything to me, Cardin Winchester!" Cardin said.
"Aright, just remember you asked for this." Sean sighed. Sean then sped toward Cardin and kneed him in the groin. Cardin reeled in pain and dropped Dakota. "Alright buddy I'm going to make this very clear so you understand. If I so much as hear you trying to hurt anyone I care about ever again I'm going to kill you. Understand?" Cardin nodded and left and Sean and Dakota walked up to the rest of the gang who were looking in shock.
"Woah didn't know you had it in you Sean," Ruby said.
"What can I say, I'm really protective of anyone I care about," Sean chuckled. They continued until they made it to the cliff which was overlooking a gigantic forest. They stood on these grey squares on the ground and prepared themselves. Ozpin and Mrs Goodwitch came up and began talking.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin said. He then backed away for Mrs Goodwitch to continue.
"Now, I'm sure many of you had heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates….today" Mrs Goodwitch said. This got Ruby concerned, but Ozpin started again.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone you work well with," Ozpin said, causing Ruby to groan.
"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." Ozpin finished which caused a few people including Ruby to yell out , "WHAT?!", But he was not done yet. "After you partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path….or you will die." This caused Jaune and Dakota to glup. "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics; each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. "Are there any questions?" there were no questions as far as the group could hear as each one of them were launched off the cliff.
Sean's power activated as he sprouted angel wings to fall slower. Dakota swung around a branch with his halberd, Chirs slammed one of his maces on a tree and slid himself down, and Hailey did the same as Dakota. Back with Sean he began heading towards the temple until he ran into a few boar-like grimm with 4 eyes that were called Boarbatusk. One of them charged at Sean which caused him to block the attack and counter with a power slash. Unfortunately, the armor on the creature's back defended it from most damage. The other slammed their tusks into Sean knocking him back and into a tree. They both then curled into a ball and charged at Sean again, but he was ready this time as he used his semblance and created an illusion and tricked the creatures to move right when he moved to the left. The Boarbatusk hit something and knocked themselves on their back which caused them to be disposed of easley. Dakota was scared as he hadn't truly fought this kind of fight before. Sure, he was in karate a few years ago, but they didn't truly spar there. He then heard growling behind him so he turned around and saw a Ursa and got frightened.
"Stay back!" he shouted, trying to intimidate the creature, but it smacked him in the face and knocked him into a tree. The creature then started to approach Dakota ready to take him out, until a gunshot stopped the creature in its tracks and another killed it. Dakota looked at the perpetrator and it was Hailey.
"You Okay?" Hailey asked Dakota, helping him up.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Dakota said. "I guess that means we're partners now."
Back with Sean he was walking down the path satisfied with the recent group of grimm he wiped out. He then heard someone so he followed the sound and found Yang and the girl with the bow. It wasn't long before they noticed him.
"Hey Sean, didn't see you there," Yang said and introduced the other person who was called Blake Belladonna. Then they heard a painful growl as a grimm was thrown out of the bushes, the reason, none other than Chris Caraballo.
"Good riddance to yeah!" Chris exclaimed. He then began walking up to the trio. "It's nice to see you guys."
"Same Chris," Sean replied.
Meanwhile, back on the hill Ozpin and Glynda were discussing a few things. "The last pair has been formed, sir." Glynda said, pulling up a video. "Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. Poor boy... I can't possibly imagine those two getting along. Still, he's probably better off than Miss Nikos. I don't care what his transcripts say. That jaune fellow is not ready for this level of combat. I guess we'll find out soon enough. At their current pace they should reach the temple within just a few minutes." Glynda stopped and asked Ozpin what he used for relics this year, but he was not truly listening; he was mostly focused on the video he was watching among one other thing. That other thing was the quartet of people that could be the heroes Nightmare told them about.
"Ozpin!" Glynda said and got his attention.
"Yes, Glynda," Ozpin said.
"You seem a little worried." She said. "Does this have to do with what Nightmare said to us?"
Back with Sean, he, Chris, Yang and Blake had found an ancient building. "Think this is the place?" Yang asked, which resulted in everyone nodding, so they scoped it out and saw chess pieces.
"Looks like other people were here before us," Chris commented, noticing that some of the pedestales had nothing on them. Yang picked up a knight piece while Sean picked up a queen piece. They then heard a scream.
"Woah did you hear that some girl's in trouble!" Yang said. They then heard someone say "heads up" from the sky, so everyone looked up and saw ruby falling from the sky, until he was intercepted by Jaune which caused them both to fly into a tree.
"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake asked and Yang tried to answer when A Ursa came charging through the woods with someone riding it. The person riding it was a girl with orange hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a collar black sleeveless vest under the vest there was a white sleeveless t-shirt. She was also wearing a short pink skirt. On her ankle there were white boots with pink laces. She had a sliver armor piece around her waist.
"Aw it's broken," She said, and started inspecting the dead Ursa. then a guy came from behind it. He had black hair with magenta highlights, and magenta eyes. He was wearing a long sleeved tailcoat, a black long sleeved shirt beneath the suit and light tan pants with black shoes. His hair was tied in a ponytail.
"Nora, Please...don't ever do that again" the man said as he looked up and saw that the person now identified as Nora vanished as she was now in the temple staring at the relics. She grabbed one and started dancing
"I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" She sang until the guy got her attention. She saluted and said "Coming, Ren!"
"Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake said. Yang tried to answer again but was interrupted again by Pyrrha running from the tree line with a giant scorpion hot on her trail and also Dakota and Hailey running from a giant two headed snake. Sean recognized the two creatures the scorpion was called a death stalker. And the snake was called a King Taijitu.
"Jaune," Pyrrha yelled, which got Jaune's attention.
"Pyrrha!" jaune yelled back. Ruby woahed and dropped down with a roll. Dakota and Hailey also screamed.
"Did those three run all the way here with grimm on their tail?" Blake asked. Yang was getting angry and yelled.
"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! CAN EVERYONE JUST CHILL OUT FOR TWO SECONDS BEFORE SOMETHING CRAZY HAPPENS AGAIN?!" Yang yelled, after what felt like exactly two seconds ruby spoke up.
"Umm...yang?" Ruby said as she tugged on her sister's sleeve and pointed up. Everyone looked up to see a giant bird grimm called a nevermore. Everyone saw someone hanging on the talon which was weiss
"How could you leave me?!" Wiess yelled.
"I said jump!" Ruby shouted.
"She's gonna fall," Blake stated.
"She'll be fine" Ruby said
"She's falling" The guy now known as Ren said. With Jaune he noticed Weiss falling and jumped off the branch he was on and grabbed her.
"Just dropping in?" Jaune asked. However they noticed they were still in the air and jaune fell on his face while weiss fell on top of him.
"My hero," wiess said sacrastly
"My back," Jaune said in pain.
Pyrrha were thrown in front of the others. "Great! The gang's all here now we can die together!" yang said.
"Not if I can help it!" Ruby said. Then with a battle cry she charged at the death stalker. Yang yelled at her to wait. When Ruby and the death stalker met it knocked her back. Sean noticed Dakota and Hailey were backed into a corner.
"Guys I'm coming!" Sean yelled and charged at the King Taijitu. The creature noticed the advance and put it's attention on Sean. they both charged at each other. Back with ruby she tried to get away when the nevermore shot down feathers caught on ruby's cloak.
"Ruby, Get out of there!" Yang yelled.
"I'm trying," Ruby yelled back. The death stalker was about to sting ruby when something stopped it. It was weiss using ice to keep it in place. Back with Sean he slashed the eye of the white head which caused the black head to attack him. Sean dodged and started shooting its head. Unfortunately the other head caught him off guard, but before it could kill him pink crystals erupted out of the ground and impaled the creature. Sean looked behind to see the carnage and looked back to see Dakota glowing a bright pink. He looked just as shocked as everyone else. When they made it to everyone else they started discussing what to do next.
"Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss stated.
"She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs." Ruby said, nodding to Weiss. "There's no point in fighting these things."
"Run and live," Jaune said. "That's an idea I can get behind."
Ruby grabbed a knight piece, Jaune grabbed a rook, and Dakota grabbed a queen. It was then they noticed the Death Stalker starting to break free from the ice, so they ran like hell. They kept running until they made it out of the forest where they saw a bunch of abandoned structures. Unfortunately, the Nevermore followed them through the forest they ran for cover.
"Well, that's great," Yang said annoyed. Then the Death Stalker charged right out of the forest behind them.
"Aw, man run!" Jaune yelled, with everyone running out their hiding spots. This caused the Nevermore to start flying again.
"Nora, distract it!" Ren said. The bird then shot a barrage of feathers at the group which they promptly dodged. Nora changed her hammer to a grenade launcher and knocked the creature out of the sky with a few shots, but the Deathstalker prepared to stab her. Blake and Ren performed a cross slash with their weapons to stop the creature. Weiss then landed next to Nora and brought her to safety. When the scorpion was chasing Blake and Ren.
"Go, Go" Pyrrha yelled and stopped to shoot at the creature. Ren also stopped to shoot at the scorpion. Until it got too close which caused them to continue running again. When the team made it to a bridge the nevermore flew into the bridge ripping the center of the bridge apart. Fortunately everyone was safe, but they were separated with ruby, jaune, hailey, yang, weiss, sean, and nora on one side and the others on the other side with the Death Stalker. Ruby and Sean were firing at the retreating nevermore while jaune was looking on the other side. He noticed they were struggling.
"Man, we gotta get over there! They need help!" Jaune said. Nora then ran up to him.
"Let's do this," Nora said.
"Yeah, but, uh... I can't make that jump" Jaune said looking down at the abyss. Nora smiled and knocked Jaune back then proceeded to jump to the edge of the bridge and slam her hammer into the bridge, flinging Jaune to the other side with him screaming. Nora then puts her feet on her hammer and fires herself to the other side. When Nora reached the other side she slammed her hammer on the skull of the death stalker. When she hits the ground the stinger comes down to get her, but she blasts herself back, accidentally knocking into Blake and Dakota and making them fall. Dakota starts screaming while Blake launches her whip making the blade of her gun sink into the bridge. She grabs Dakota's hand and yells "hang on" as they circle around the bridge and leap onto the Nevermore's back. Blake then dashed across the grimm back slashing the entire way. Dakota, not knowing what to do, runs to the head and smashes his halberd into the creature's head. Unfortunately it didn't do much, and got him knocked off, but Sean swooped in to save him. Sean then proceeds to bring Dakota where the others are.
"It's tougher that it looks!" Blake said.
"Then let's hit it with everything we got!" Yang said, readying her weapon. With them nevermore approaching them, everyone fired a barrage of bullets at the creature which it dodged or tanked. It crashed through the columns they were standing on. The group then proceeded to jump up the debris flying around them until they reached another bridge.
"None of this is working!" Weiss said.
"Yeah we can see that, Weiss," Sean said. Ruby looked around and noticed something.
"I have a plan! Cover me!" Ruby said, as she blasts away. The others then jumped into the fray. Meanwhile, the others are still taking care of the Death Stalker.
"We Gotta move!" Jaune said, which prompted all five of them to start running at the scorpion. The scorpion swipes at pyrrha, but she blocked it with her shield and slashed it. It tried to swipe it's other claw, but Jaune deflected it, knocking the claw back. Pyrrha then leaped over jaune and attacked its face. Meanwhile Ren runs up firing his guns and jumps on its stinger, and begins shooting the base of it while Nora and Chris are firing at from a distance, Pyrrha hurls her weapon straight into one of the monster's eyes which causes it to throw Ren to the side. He hit the side of a stone and fell to the ground.
"Ren," Nora says in worry.
"Focus!" Chris said to nora. "We'll see if he is okay after this."
Jaune gets up and notices the scorpion's stinger is loose.
"Pyrrha," he yells.
"Done," Pyrrha said. She raises her shield and throws it severing the sting and making it fall right on its skull.
"Nora, nail it!" Jaune Yells.
"Heads up!" Nora said. She jumps on Pyrrha's shield and blasts herself up, twirling down and slams the stinger into the Death Stalkers head. Unfortunately this crushes the bridge underneath them. Jaune, Pyrrha and Chris bound over the monster and landed on stable land. Ren walks up to them and collapses. Back with the team taking on the nevermore yang is burning her ammo to damage the bird. She manages to hit it in the face which causes it to turn its attention on her. It tries to eat her but she jumps into the maw and starts firing rounds into the creature's mouth. She looks behind her and jumps back with the creature to crash into the cliff. While the creature recovered quickly, Yang jumped back to meet the rest of the group. Weiss freezes the tail in place making it unable to escape. Blake fires her weapon over to Yang and the two tighten the ribbon between the columns, so Ruby jumps onto the ribbon and bed it back into one of Weiss' black glyphs.
"Of course you would come up with this idea," Weiss said.
"Think you can make the shot?" Ruby asked.
"Hmm! Can I!" Weiss said confidently
"Can't-?" ruby asked, confused.
"Of course I can!" Weiss said back. Ruby then pumped her weapon and strangely started glowing a light blue. The glyph turned from black to red and Ruby was shot out at a speed comparable to lightning. Ruby catched the nevermore's neck in the blade of her scythe. Wiess then created a series of glyphs which ruby dashed through them until she severed its head at the top of the cliff face. Everyone back down was exhausted while The nevermores fell lifelessly.
"Well... that was a thing," Yang said. A few hours later the teams were being formed.
"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark." Ozpin said with the screen showing profiles of each of them. "The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester."
"Jaune arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. You four have retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR" Ozpin said, as Nora gave Ren a hug. "Led by Jaune Arc."
"Huh? L-led by...?" Jaune said.
"Congratulations, young man," Ozpin said. Pyrrah gave jaune a friendly shoulder bump which caused him to fall.
"Blake belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss schnee, Yang xiao long. You four retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" Ozpin stated. Weiss was extremely surprised, but Yang went over and gave her sister a hug.
"I'm so proud of you!" She said.
"And finally: Sean Hart, Chris Caraballo, Hailey Suloman, and Dakota Hart. You four retrieved the black queen pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team HHHC. Led by... Sean Hart." Ozpin said Team RWBY and JPNR were not shocked at who Ozpin picked for leader. As Ozpin looked at the people cheering he said. "It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year."
