The Queen Is Alive

With a massive jolt, Junior wakes up. He is confused, traumatized, struggling to breathe. It is as if he has been snapped out of a dream. A confusing and complicated one at that! As he regains his calmness, his only thoughts are for his parents and Humanity Park. He runs outside to see his world intact. He is overjoyed. In the distance he sees his mother Blue Eyes.

"Mom, mom is that really you?" He throws himself at his mother and completely lets go.

"Mom, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to destroy Humanity park, I didn't mean to kill you." Junior, now an old soul but still a child at heart, bursts into tears. Blue Eyes comforts him as only a mother can…

"Junior no, no. You've nothing to be sorry for. With all our powers and all our lifetimes the running of this place will still fall to you alone one day. Me and your father will eventually move on. We needed to know if you were up to such a task. And you have proved yourself perfectly."

"You my son, are truly worthy of the next generation of Tarbosaurus's. And the next generation of Humanity Park inhabitants. But do not worry. We will all be together when the time comes to make such decisions. Isn't that right my love?" Speckles approaches the two. "It is so. The power to lead the future will be yours one day my son. But that will be for all of us to decide, no decision of that magnitude should be taken alone. Come, we shall go back to where we started."

Speckles, Blue Eyes and their son, Junior, head to the top of Humanity Park's tallest tower. Together they watch the sun rise over a new day. "Isn't it strange, to have been through so much for so long and yet we always end up back at the beginning again?" States Speckles. Blue Eyes retorts. "This is life and this is who we are. Though we may escape the pain of losing each other, we lose something else in the process. Even our power exists within the circle. All we can do is learn from one life till the next, then hope the next time we circle back we can do it all again but better."

Junior ponders things. "Mom, dad. I believe we have been both right and wrong about all of this. If I learned anything from Gareth and his alter-egos it is this. All storytelling is a game of choice versus chance. The path laid out before us, we are both following and creating simultaneously. Even these ideas came from somewhere else, created by someone else. Hell, even the language this story is written in, is someone else's creation. All we can do, is wrap ourselves up in these words and ideas, and re-interpret them as we see fit. What happens next is up to us…"

Speckles and Blue Eyes smile at each other then look to their son. "You know what kid, sorry, old soul. You are going to be just fine. With the three of us together, the future is in very safe hands."

"Come now." Said Speckles. "Let us get back to doing what we were put here to do, Keep Humanity Park safe, watch over the world of dinos and man and, of course, the occasional hunt! We are still dinosaurs after all!"

"Mom, dad. I am so lucky to have you with me." Spoke Junior. "As we you son, as we you." Responds Blue Eyes.

The three of them descend the tower to watch over Humanity Park for another 1000 years. The old souls, the residents of this place will be in very good hands for a long time to come…

79,999,000 Years into the future. A shocked, baffled, exhausted and utterly spent Gareth sits at his desk. His 2014 Mini Mac is ready to explode.

He is The Author, He is The White Dino, He is Time's Arbiter.

He too observes the rising sun and ponders. "Can I please stop writing these bloody Speckles Stories?"

At last, our long, long, Speckles The Tarbosaurus saga is over! By the way, my name is Peach! Thanks Readers!
