Miko and Monk

Chapter 6

After dinner, everyone was sitting in the living room sipping on tea. Souta was showing Miroku how the tv worked.

"What magic is this? Are those people trapped in there?" looking amusingly at the magic box in front of him.

"No those people are not stuck in there. It is like watching a play but in real time with advanced technology." Kagome sipped on her tea. "Miroku, come over here for a minute will ya." Kagome signaling him to sit next to her on the couch.

"What's up Lady Kagome'' picking up his tea cup.

"You can just call me Kagome in this time. People in my world will not understand why I am called like that."

Miroku brows furrowed "that is an insult to you as the shikon no tama miko you are, but if it will make things less complicated I will do it." sipped on tea.

Patting his shoulder "it's ok Miroku, since we don't know what happened to us and we don't know how long you will be here. In the meantime, we will help you adjust to this time. Tomorrow I will take you out to see the city and we will do some shopping. We do need to come up with a plan to give you an identity."

"If I may offer a suggestion" grandpa chimed in. "We don't have to change his identity too much. Miroku can remain as a monk but say he is from the countryside and he is the grandson of a friend of mine visiting. It is his first time in the city."

"Not a bad idea!" Kagome brightened up. "That can work. What you think?"

"Hmmm. Not a bad idea. I can work with that." Miroku looks towards grandpa "if I may ask sir, would you be so kind to teach me about modern day monks and your shrine. I would like to be your pupil. I would like to blend in as much as possible as to not cause any of you distress. You've all taken me in as part of your family and I would be happy to learn as much as I can."

Grandpa jumps to his feet "my boy I would be happy to! We can learn from each other! Finally my granddaughter has brought home a decent boy!" as he patted Miroku back. "I am going to bed. These old bones are tired. Good night."

Watching grandpa retreated to his room. (Kagome giggles) "Miroku, you are welcomed as part of this family. You and the others have taken care of my Kagome while over in your time. I can return the same. I have placed some more of papa's clothes in the guest room. Please don't hesitate to ask me anything. Ok?" mama got up and patted Miroku's cheek. "It is time for bed, Souta. You have school in the morning."

Souta turns off the tv and goes next to his mama "hey Miroku I'll teach you how to play soccer when I get home from school tomorrow. Good night!"

Both mama and Souta made their way upstairs.

Miroku sat in deep thought.

"Hey are you ok? I know it's overwhelming but my family and I will be with you. "Kagome leaned over to take his hand as a reassurance gesture.

"I'm just thinking about Sango, Shippo and Inuyasha. They must be worried about us. It seems Inuyasha can't come through well since I have the subjugation beads. I'm just worried for them." as he squeezed back her hand.

"I know what you mean. At least they will all be together until we can get back...if we can get back." (Silent tears falling).

Miroku wiped away Kagome tears with his shirt sleeve and gently lifted her chin towards him "we will find a way back. Have faith."

Kagome let's go of Miroku's hand (sniffles) "let's go to bed. We had a long day." Kagome motioned for Miroku to follow up stairs.

"Oh we are going to bed together. My, my, aren't we bold, little miko?" snickered Miroku.

Kagome face grew red "you pervy monk! I mean in separate rooms!"

'I love seeing that expression of hers. So innocent yet sultry.'
