Bonus Episode #6 – Rise from the Ashes: 6th Trial
Time: February 22, 12:14 PM
Location: District Court-Courtroom No. 9
Judge: Bailiff, please bring the witness in.
From the trial to prove in Meekins' innocence, from being attacked from the stranger to take a knife from the SL-9 case locker of Bruce Goodman to be him, but it wasn't or the stranger stalking on Phoenix, Cassie, and Ema to have Edgeworth killed. It was someone who Bruce report on a stolen item of his ID card, for it was none other than Jake's fingerprints on it and using a rubber glove to keep Bruce's locker to stay open 'without doing the fingerprint scan to unlocking it' because it wasn't Jake's...Also, he wasn't so good with technical stuff either. Bummer...With the three, Edgeworth, the Judge, and everyone else in the room see Jake walking up to the stand to testify next and Meekins leaving to be free to go now, hearing on why he did all of it will be next to go this far to cause a scene during Bruce Goodman getting killed.
Jake: Howdy.
Cassie: Howdy to you too, Jake. Although I can't say why you're called here to already know why yourself. (Nothing personal, Jake, but you might get in trouble after this. But not for committing a murder on Bruce thank god.)
Jake: I understand, missy.
Trying get through this next part...
Edgeworth: Witness, please state your name and occupation.
Jake: Name's Marshall, Jake Marshall. Pleasure to be here.
Cassie: Please explain to us what were you doing on that day.
And so he does.
Witness Testimony
Jake: My job was to keep a wary eye on that bone orchard. They said I was supposed to make rounds three times a day, but that ain't my style. Besides, the room's protected by two security systems, anyway. If I remember right, I was at a street-side saloon at the time it went down. I'm just an innocent travelin' man, so if you're out of ammo it's time I hit the trail.
Well, as a cowboy or not to pay attention in trial.
Judge: Very well, the defense and Ms. Freeman may proceed.
Cassie: Got it, Your Honor. (Now it's time for an all out showdown.)
Cross-Examination
Though this next part won't really be a shoot out in the wild west, but words to be told from back to back.
Phoenix: Mr. Marshall, you were in charge of guarding the room on the day of the murder, right?
Jake: Right.
Phoenix: If you would, then please tell the court your account on that day.
But there was a big problem...
Jake: I'm sorry partner, but I can't help you. For give me too, Missy. I was too busy to not know about the event other than the murder of Detective Goodman afterwards.
Wait, why was he forgetting? Jake was on patrol on that day for Meekins to say so.
Judge: You what?!
Cassie: (Great, now he tells us...! If he said he was taking a dump, I'm going to throw a chair at him.)
Jake: I was checkin' the place now and again, but the place had two security systems. One was a door, and the other one was a security camera.
Yeah, he wasn't good with any technical things like those at all.
Phoenix: Plus the fingerprint lock inside.
Cassie: Jake Marshall's not good with tech things, Your Honor.
Newly noted to remember this now.
Jake: The what now?
Phoenix: The finger print scanners on the lockers.
Wait, he didn't know anything about them or how it worked until now? Ouch.
Jake: Never heard of those what-a-cha call it before. The point is, the place was running fine without me.
Cassie: But you just don't leave your post. Hello?!
So much for doing his job, huh?
Judge: I don't think I like your tone.
Jake: But I don't think I like your beard, but you don't hear me complainin'.
Ouch...Well, he has got the Judge on that part. Burned.
Cassie: Phoenix, please continue for us.
Moving on now...
Phoenix: So you're saying that you have no baring of this incident...
Cassie: Nothing to tell us about? Really...?
They didn't think so, besides for Ema to say the fingerprint in the evidences room was Jake's to probably dress up as Bruce and attacked Meekins.
Jake: Yes. That's what I told you and Missy yesterday, partner. You could save both of us some time to remember.
Oh, and like he does the most?
Phoenix: Oh I remember what you told Cassie and me, Mr. Marshall.
Jake: Then why did you two asked?
Cassie: As if you already don't know, mister.
Phoenix: Because we wanted to give you a chance to tell the truth. And before we go on, I just wanted to say...I'm sorry.
Cassie: We all are. (This will hurt us, more than it'll hurt you, Jake.)
They have to give Jake the heads up. Because the next part, to press and present some evidences of Jake's doing to be as Bruce and with good reasons why.
Jake: What do you mean? What do any of you mean?
Phoenix: When we were examining the room, we find a clear fingerprint. Not just any old fingerprint, this one had blood on it. We had it analyses from the police department at the science group. It's yours, Jake Marshall!
From the blood one and the other clear thing left out on the other locker door.
Cassie: We found two of them thanks to Ema's help Not only from the blood up one part on one of the locker doors, but also the other one to detect it was 100% yours!
Showing a couple of photos to present, it was all real.
Jake: Are you for real? I guarded that place, my fingerprints were already all over it. And if you've done your homework partner, the blood up one was with someone who wore rubber gloves. Whoever made that one, made one to frame me while they had a chance to.
Oh, I think Jake just spill the beans.
Cassie: *GOT YOU NOW!* Phoenix, he just said it!
Phoenix: Yes he did. Mr. Marshall, how did you know about the other print?
Now he has to say something to explain himself or else.
Jake: I like to keep an update on the data or corpse of the victims when it happens. The bottom line is, that video tape is your only solid evidences you got. And if you can't anything on the tape with me in it, then you got nothing to prove at all.
Well, he does make a good point there.
Judge: The witness is right. No evidence of any kind, then no proof.
Jake: Go on, Mr. Wright. Prove that I'm in that video. I dare ya.
He asked for it.
Phoenix: First I want to know on thing.
Jake: Shoot.
For Phoenix and Cassie to show the video again, they proof to Jake it was him in any other way.
Phoenix: Is that your locker?
Cassie: The one which is left opened which is close to the other one with the Blue Badger sign is?
Pausing the video to point it all out, it seems like it belongs to Jake.
Jake: Yup.
Phoenix: Good, because Cassie and I can say with complete confidence that you were there when this murder happened.
Cassie: Not only that, but we can point on from this tape. If we looked at your locker later on, it changed completely. There's a piece of cloth sticking out of it. See? Right here.
From fast forwarding the part after Jake flees and Meekins was knocked out, it proves on everything.
Phoenix: So you've opened your locker from the time this happened.
Jake: Hold your horses there, partner and missy. Anyone can open up that locker. What makes you think it was me.
Plenty, to say the least to have good proof to show and tell Jake everything. Hoping there is for Phoenix tries to think of something and Cassie the same thing; leaving Ema, Edgeworth, the Judge, and everyone else to hear about it too, they were all staring at Jake.
Jake: Why y'all lookin' at me like that?
Cassie: Oh I think you already know, Jake. Don't think we're dumb because we're not.
Far from it for Jake to be a bad liar.
Edgeworth: Sorry to tell you this, Mr. Marshall, but you're the only one who could've opened your own locker. Which can only be open with your fingerprint.
Jake: Is that some kind of joke?
I don't think from this prosecutor wouldn't lie about it. For Phoenix and Cassie to sit back down to get to the point at hand.
Phoenix: No joke, Mr. Marshall. Take my word for it. If that locker was open, then you had to be there. Which brings us to where we were.
Cassie: We already know on how you done it all. (The question after that is to know why Jake did it all, once we get him to talk.)
Phoenix: Exactly. Well, if it doesn't take a genesis to figure it out. It was a small room and there was nowhere to hide, which one of the figures is accounting for. Which leads to...him!
Showing from the video part of the stranger getting the locker opened, it was Jake disguised as Bruce Goodman.
Cassie: (Almost the same height, but with the different backside.) *BINGO!* This is our proof!
Judge: So that's the victim?!
Seems like it to slam the hands down for this answer to be told.
Phoenix: Gloves off, Mr. Marshall! For the figure in the coat was really you!
Jake: Not bad. You almost had me, partner.
Phoenix and Cassie What?
Great...What were they missing this time?
Jake: It seems you're relying a lot on your investigation, or more of a circumstances. You may have found out about my locker, but you need to show the link between "him" and my locker.
Cassie: You don't have to tell us twice about it, Jake. I think of this link between the two.
That's the next thing to prove on something next.
Jake: I guess I'll call on your bluff, if you can't say you ain't got one.
Ema: He's right. It'll be hard to do.
Cassie: Then he has got us good unless we have our turnabout here, but how?
There has to be another way around it somehow...
Phoenix: I know, Cassie, believe me. What other way is there to look at from Jake having his locker door opened and Goodman's? He obviously didn't plan to.
Cassie: Unless he wanted to make us believe in it very sneaky-like.
Somehow, from thinking and questioning each other, they may have gotten the answers they needed.
Phoenix: (Then that would mean...) I got it!
Cassie: Same here, Phoenix, now you and me let's do it.
Saying it together directly at Jake himself.
Phoenix and Cassie: *OBJECTION!*
Now they say it.
Phoenix: Mr. Marshall, besides Cassie and me thinking hard to show you proof...We've been looking at the whole thing at the wrong angle. A lot to for us to believe you went so far to dress up to fool others from the tape when you went into the evidences room. But for whatever reason, you went into the room disguise as Goodman on that day to carefully go in without anyone noticing anything and from the security movements.
Cassie: My turn! You plan to use the rubber glove to find it by luck from the SL-9 case to use to keep the locker door open, since you can't use technical things remember? All of this to get something from inside of it since you've stolen Bruce's wallet and ID card to file a lost item report; but something did happen.
From Jake getting in the room to get something to look like Bruce, he didn't think Meekins would show up at all to scare him.
Phoenix: Something you didn't plan on...Officer Meekins! He interrupted your operation, demanding to see your ID card. You couldn't show him yours...
Cassie: Because it'll show the ID numbers on the real Bruce and not to be yours. And you couldn't show Bruce's ID card either, because it had the photo of him!
Phoenix: Cornered and out of options, You decided to scare him off at knife point, but yo didn't thought about Meekins determination. He lunged at you, doing so to use a knife to shield himself to get Meekins' hand cut only and you to get hurt more to leave a bloody hand print on the locker door. And what did you do next?
Yeah, Meekins knew to attack to have Jake get hurt and less with Meekins to his hand only.
Cassie: Here's the thing...You couldn't walk out of there with an injury you've gotten. So before making your escape, you shoved the coat with blood on it right into your own locker.
Wow, I think they just solve that problem so far to impress Jake from their words and proof...So far.
Jake: Well, a man's gotta know what he's been beat. I take my hat off to you, partner and missy. Well done.
Judge: Does this mean you confess?
Finally, Jake confesses to everything.
Jake: Yep! It was me. I've stolen Goodman's wallet in order to get a hold of his ID. I dress up like him in order to get to his locker. I even dodge my way around the security cameras so I wouldn't be seen. Then Meekins turn up, and I've threaten him which then turned ugly.
I guess he got scared to use self defense, but not before Meekins had to fight back.
Cassie: Don't tell me you weren't planning to kill anyone... (Because if he did, that would've been bad.)
Jake: Nope, not to Officer Meekins but to scare him a little. But from that day was my last chance.
His last chance...? Last chance on what?
Edgeworth: Care to explain?
Jake: Not a chance, partner. You can try to talk to me all you like, and I might come along quietly. But what I did in that room, goes to me on something to be very personal. Especially what happened to Goodman.
He didn't know of Bruce getting killed but to have something else done during the time, and getting out of the evidences room to hear the news afterwards.
Phoenix: So it must've been you who left Goodman's wallet at the parking lot.
Cassie: But that and Bruce's ID card too.
Right where Phoenix and Cassie found it for Jake to leave it behind once his job was done.
Jake: I reckon that no one was found killed with the wallet was found first. I just didn't know how much trouble it'll cause you from a double murder thing.
Cassie: So there wasn't a double murder, it was just a self defense thing to get hurt only...Man! What a waste of time!
Yeah, sort of.
Edgeworth: So if you could to answer the question on what we've brought you here for...
Jake: There was no murder in the evidences room at 5:15 on the 21st.
Shouldn't figures it out in the first place.
Cassie: (Well at least we've solved this problem so far...)
Edgeworth: So with two of the murder cases, for one to be very simple instead.
Seems to be the case from the whole thing.
Phoenix: Wait! (This is far from over yet!) There may have not been a murderer in the evidences room, but will still have unnoticed evidences to look up on next.
Edgeworth: From the next trial maybe, but this part is still a case to be on trial for. We can now continue with the parking lot incident. Did I say continue? I meant finished.
Crap! Edgeworth's right, this was bad to the start for Phoenix 'to have his head down' and Cassie to not like this news one bit.
Phoenix: No!
Ema: Mr. Wright!
Cassie: Not good...! (If we don't figure this mess out, then Lana will be found guilty for good.)
Even though Jake's mystery was solved, the question was this - why did he take one item?
Edgeworth: You want to look up the timing or lend down a verdict?
Judge: Quite right, Mr. Edgeworth. And yet with so many questions left to be answered, there are no related things to the case of this trial. Without any evidences, the trial has find Ms. Lana Skye-!
All was lost, until someone objects to this just in time.
Ema: *HOLD IT!*
None other than Ema Skye to the rescue once again.
Phoenix: Ema...?
Cassie: Ema? (Does she have something else in mind?)
Ema: Your Honor, the defense has a scientific objection!
Well, whatever works out somehow to get someone's attention.
Judge: What is the meaning of this?!
Ema: Please hear me. I have a feeling it's all scientific to still be related to the case. Just give me a minute of your time.
Judge: If it's wise, it would unwise to lease anything out. You may continue but please have something from science objection facts.
Their only shot for it was Ema's turn to say something to be connected somehow for Jake to answer to them, all was quiet to hear the rest all over the room.
Ema: Mr. Marshall...I assume you've left a blood hand print on your locker.
Jake: Guess there's no point denying it now.
Ema: And there you have your problem.
It didn't take long for someone like Jake Marshall to hear of Ema to guess right.
Judge: What for?
Ema: With the second bloody hand print, which was hidden from two locker doors down. I studied that print carefully which left fingerprints on it, and whoever did it had rubber gloves on. And since any of the two officers weren't wearing any gloves, the print must've been made by a third party. I'm saying that this identify handprint couldn't possibly been made because of Mr. Marshall was n that room because of him!
She was right, it was there on how she described it to be there and shown on the security video. And from Edgeworth's look on his face, to also show Blue Badger sign was in the room during the time.
Edgeworth: What? Not that icon eyesore of a cardboard again.
Cassie: Wait...Ema, you don't mean-! (I think I'm starting to get it.)
More to explain next!
Ema: I think you know where I'm going with this, Mr. Edgeworth. Cassie is so far.
Cassie: It's too easy for me to sense these type of things.
Ema: We believe that Mr. Marshall was standing right where the Blue Badger was standing at. With one logical conclusion, that the print was made before the incident happened.
She might be right. It had to make sense sense on why the Blue Badger sign was there to block something in the other locker door's way.
Judge: What does the prosecutor has to say about this?
Edgeworth: Actually Your Honor, the prosecution thinks that the defense has a point, but no evidences of others were left in the room. As well we're not dealing with a second murder, and I must think we should reconsider the evidences. And they might've left something out.
Ema: We did?
Cassie: Did we? (What's Edgeworth trying to say to us now?)
Something they're on the right track to might be missing one little thing from it, but only a little.
Edgeworth: Indeed, Ms. Skye. If you may recall, there was a leftover blood type of texture on the floor and I mean of this scientific part. Only 14 months from any science fact to have leftover blood if it was there for that long.
Judge: So what are you saying, Mr. Edgeworth?
And what was he getting on about?
Edgeworth: I think there may have been a murder in the evidences room, but at a different time and both of the blood traces are related to it.
Cassie: Yeah, that's right! How else it would be moved during the time when Bruce was killed and from the event on Jake sneaking in the evidences room, and trying to hurt Meekins. (I'm starting to get it now.)
Seems to be on the right track so far.
Judge: But Mr. Edgeworth, who exactly are you claiming on who's murder?
Edgeworth: It was Goodman's.
For Bruce Goodman was killed there and then had his body moved at the Prosecutor's parking lot.
Judge: What!? How many more times can this one man die?
Cassie: Just one time, sir.
Phoenix: He was killed one to being stabbed a lot. (And I'm just an attorney...)
There's no doubt it was Bruce Goodman himself was killed in the room before the video of Jake and Meekins happened.
Ema: I know it all sounds shocking, Your Honor, but it doesn't make sense.
Judge: The Prosecutor says it had to be Goodman. And the evidences supports this?
Ema: I know Your Honor, that's why there maybe a possibility. So when Lana stabbed Goodman, he was already dead.
So what Lana did to make where Bruce's body was found in Edgeworth car, it was all an act. Because Bruce was already dead when she arrived to the scene of the set up crime.
Cassie: *BINGO!* Yes, that makes perfect sense!
Judge: So do tel on when was Goodman's real time when he was murder?
Ema: That's easy to figure it out, Your Honor. If the murderer took place in the evidences room, then the murderer must've used a ID card.
Showing the paper of the five going into the room of their ID card to keep record of from the day of Bruce's murder, for the Judge has a better look at it up close.
Judge: Ah, the ID list.
For Ema to sit back down to explain the rest in the courtroom – with Phoenix and Cassie hearing the rest.
Ema: Goodman's ID was stolen. Which means he must've been with the murder.
Edgeworth: And since the hidden blood handprint was behind the Blue Badger, it was must've been made before the it was moved to the other room at 4:15. To also make it one of the murders top two entries on the list.
Seems like it, and another reason why the poster was in the room to block off the part on the locker door.
Judge: But Mr. Edgeworth, the record shows from the second part showed your records from the top one.
From the ID card record shows the five listings...From the four to be Edgeworth, Meekins, Bruce 'to really be Jake', and Meekins again. And the last one... Lots of seven numbers to someone's else and unknown.
Jake: Didn't know you had it in you, partner.
Edgeworth: Yes...Thank you, witness. It doesn't take a genius to figure it all out but it couldn't been me. Meekins came in ten minutes afterwards, so I couldn't possibly committed the murder, carry out the body, and clean up the blood so quickly.
For someone to do it alone would take a long time to do what Edgeworth just said. Looking at the chart again, for the first one says from the time was 4:20 PM with the many 7's on there.
Ema: Which leaves the entry at 4:20 PM with the ID number 7777777.
Jake: Seven-Seven's? He's got to be the luckiest man in the world.
Cassie: Or rather he made it happened, not to be by luck.
So the question is...Who's ID number this many 7 numbers belong to.
Judge: Mr. Edgeworth, who's ID number is that?
Sadly, he doesn't know who it is either.
Edgeworth: We don't know, Your Honor.
Judge: What!?
Cassie: (Not even Edgeworth knows about either?! This is bad...)
Edgeworth: Unfortunately, it belongs to a very top officer and we can't investigate it unless they allow us to use it.
In other words, only from the top officers keep their names hidden. Unless they give you permission, this case was getting them nowhere.
Jake: You're all the same!
Not helping out here...
Edgeworth: Excuse me...?
I think Jake just say something to make him snap.
Jake: You prosecutors with your loop holes and cover ups.
Ouch, this has made Edgeworth mad to slam his hands on the table 'for Jake's argument sounded like Angel's almost'.
Edgeworth: It would be wise if the witness keep his own words to himself!
Cassie: (Edgeworth just got served.)
Jake: Wise? Keep my own words to myself, is that right? Then let me ask you this.
Edgeworth: What?
Sadly, Jake was talking to someone else who wasn't Edgeworth on a simple question.
Jake: Not you. Her!
He was pointing out to Lana to be sitting down.
Cassie and Phoenix: Lana?!
Jake: Tell me, Chief of Prosecutor. Two years ago, from the SL-9 incident...was the evidences from back then all legitimate?
Does Jake mean of the who evidences on which Lana and the others 'which Edgeworth didn't know about' was all set up? Getting out of her seat, Lana just answers it right away.
Lana: During the case, we felt the case and the law were all powerless. At least I did.
Ema: Lana?
For Ema to hear all of this to be news to her, things turn from bad to worse on what Lana Skye says next.
Lana: Drastic crimes were call for drastic measures. We did what we have to do to bring a murderer to justice.
Not that didn't sound good at all.
Cassie: Are you kidding me?! (Lana cheated! No...Or unless she was force to do it.)
Phoenix: I don't like where this is going.
Edgeworth: What are you saying?!
So the whole SL-9 to have Joe Drake killed by law was a set up?
Lana: Even if this whole thing was done by forging evidences.
Soon Jake gets mad for Lana to say it to have Edgeworth arguing and Ema to worry. And no matter how hard and loud the Judge hits his gavel, the fighting in words wouldn't end.
Ema: Why, Lana? How could you?
Judge: Order!
Edgeworth: How dare you do something so recklessly!
Judge: Order!
Then the entire room was having a big riot all over to be loud and angry people.
Order! ORDERRRRR!
With one more thing to say...
Jake: If you didn't think on others' lives, none of this wouldn't happened!
For there, Cassie has to end it for the Judge' sake.
Cassie: QUIET! Geeze, relax! I'm sorry this happened but still...fighting won't solve anything!
Silence in the room again for the Judge clears his throat to finally saying anything.
Judge: Ah...Thank you, Ms. Freeman. No what I wanted to say...
And soon 'thanks to Cassie's help to aid the Judge', it finally stopped to give another and last day to investigate the crime one more time.
(Phoenix: Lana's remarks caused such a stir...the chaos in the courtroom could not be quelled, for Cassie's yelling did help us out to have more time investigating some more. And the conclusion of the trial...would have to wait until the following day...)
Wow, what a big mess this turned out to be so far with Lana in bigger trouble now. For the courtroom was now empty for Phoenix, Cassie, and Ema had to think of something to do to prove in Lana's innocence right away by tomorrow or it'll be game over.
Phoenix: We nearly sunk the ship, and it's al my fault.
Hugging Phoenix head for Cassie was there for her boyfriend.
Cassie: And come on, Phoenix. We're trying our best. The last part there just happened is all. Still, I didn't see of those parts happening at all. For Lana to go this far if she did it, I think she was force to do them all. (I don't know why, I but I just get this strange feeling about it.)
Ema: Don't blame yourself, Mr. Wright. Cassie's right. Mr. Edgeworth did play a clever game.
Cassie: And some of us didn't know about the other part until the last second.
For Phoenix was in heaven from Cassie's embrace, to also being serious to be working hard on this murder case.
Phoenix: (Cassie's hugging me...!) And Ema, how's that suppose to make me feel better? I got completely side tracked.
It really didn't there for he gets back to his old self now.
Cassie: Even I couldn't feel this one out yet.
Phoenix: And we were facing the truth this whole time, more on my end. Forgetting my job is to defend Lana.
But this was far from over.
Ema: But we're not beaten yet. We just need to stay focus and for us to try winning this case by tomorrow.
Cassie: Our last and third day too, don't forget the part of the court's rules.
Making a good point from the two girls, Phoenix can't give up for something was pulling Lana Skye down like an anchor.
Ema: Well, I'm going back to the police department.
Cassie: We'll see you in a bit later then?
Ema: Just text where at, Cassie, and I'll be there in a bit. I'll meet you there when you pull yourself together, Mr. Wright.
Leaving the court room and such to get to work, Cassie has Phoenix's back and their love for each other.
Cassie: Phoenix, we probably should look up on something. And listen...it's not your fault. We just need to keep on trying. I sense something's up and we need to uncover it.
Such sweet words and strong will to make Phoenix go with Cassie always by his side.
Phoenix: I guess so, Cassie. Let's see what we can try to get back at the office and think things through a bit more.
Cassie: Just in case? You got it.
Holding each other while walking out for Phoenix to kiss Cassie's hand.
Phoenix: Thank you for being there for me.
Cassie: You're welcome, Phoenix, really... (We'll make through this. I just know it.)
Phoenix: (The ways she thinks and using her movements, has me loving Cassie a whole lot more.)
More to come next time...A bit to think through back at their office, but enough to not give up until the answers were all found. And it will be too before tomorrow's final and third day of the trial to come to an end.
