I Will Light Your Way Through Darkness

"I shouldn't have climbed that"-Victor groaned-"tree."

Victoria settled him on the sofa, propped a pillow behind his head. She helped his ankle onto the small table in front of him. He winced and she grimaced with him.

"Sorry," Victoria whispered. She sat near him, on the sofa, folding her hands on her lap. "Dr. Cottingham said your ankle should be healed within a few weeks." She gave a small smile. "Besides, you fell for a good cause."

Victor took her hand with a chuckle. "I suppose so. I only wish I could have saved the cat without slipping at the last second. Those children might've thought me a hero that way."

"I guarantee you, Victor, that they think you're a hero, anyway."

With careful motions, Victoria curled up next to her husband, nestling her head on his chest. Victor wrapped an arm around her.

"I know our children will think you're a hero," Victoria said, glancing up at him.

Victor smiled. "They'll think you're a hero, too."

Sorry about the shortness of this one! I was feeling a bit uninspired by this prompt and uninspired in general. But I'm pretty excited for the next one!

Thanks for reading!
