This next chapter is actually taking places a month and a

half before season three.

CHAPTER 6

Story description/ Cat tried for weeks to find Ethan's parents but to no avail. They're no longer in Gotham. Kara is still grieving over Mon-El. And Astra has some very big news to tell the whole family.

SAD NEWS:

"What? What do you mean? That's impossible! The flyers are still coming in from Gotham and you're telling that they just up and left without any kind of clue as to where they could be?"

Cat Grant was beyond shock. She's upset. For the past two weeks she's been trying to find Ethan's mothers but with no luck. It's like they just... gone off the radar.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. But they've been gone for 18 years. Even Bruce Wayne, who might I add, has tried finding him with all he could to help with all the tech from WI."

Cat thanks the man on the other line and hangs up.

"Miss Grant? Is everything alright? Are you sick?"

Outside the door was the tall man she's been trying to help reunite with his family. Nobody told Six about anything about what Cat was doing. He could see that something was bothering.

"I'm fine, Mister Isely. I don't really get sick at all but I'm fine. Thank you." She told him and he nodded his acknowledgement to her answer.

Ethan told her that he was going to get her the required materials she requested an hour ago. When he left in the elevator Cat put her head in her hands. This is one of the most heartbreaking moments where she couldn't bring herself to tell someone what was wrong.

She believes herself a coward for it.

Later that night Cat couldn't will herself to sleep. If there was a way to bring back Kara and Alex's families back, she would do it without a second thought. She just wanted her girls to be happy. Don't get it wrong, they're happy just aches of the heart sometimes.

It's both funny and ironic. Kara, Alex, Astra, and Ethan all lost their loved ones. The same could be said to Bruce Wayne. Both gunned down in front of the poor boy. Maybe they should all hangout together. They'll have plenty in common other than family deaths.

"I'm such an idiot. I guess this is what happens when you have kids." Cat whispered under her breath.

There was a soft knock at the door. Two knocks, pause, one more knock.

The mother of three chuckled knowing that Ethan was at the door. He has the habit of knocking they he does. After Alex and Astra came back from their getaway the super soldier also told them his past more. Cat opened the door with a warm smile.

She came to think Ethan as a second son.

"Well, good evening, Ethan. How are you tonight?"

She stepped aside for the taller man to come in. Her new assistant walked through with tensed shoulders. You know, the tensed shoulders where you're not moving them but stiff.

"I, um, needed to.. speak to you. If that's ok, with your permission of course." Ethan says to her, to which she nodded her approval.

They went to the balcony outside the penthouse where they can speak more privately. Since that night Kara had her breakdown Ethan has really opened up more of himself. The first week he arrived, Cat was always the one he goes to when he was having trouble sleeping or the nightmares kept him awake. It is mainly the nightmares of everything from the Spartan program to the war on Reach. She knows more about Ethan than the others.

"Which one was it tonight? You seem more afraid than the night before." She asked as soon as they were alone.

Six ran his hand through his red locks as he gathers himself. His icy blue eyes seem to dim as he recounts the everything he saw.

"I saw Kara." He starts off almost startling the short blonde. "She's lying... dead... on the ground. Along with everybody else. Alex, Astra, Lena, J'onn, and you."

This is shocking. Never had Ethan come to her with a nightmare quite like this before. She was afraid to ask what else happened, but she asked any way.

"What happened?"

"I was... with a unit I was commanding. We were sent to investigate an unknown lifeform responsible for the murders of several farmers and marines that didn't check in. I went to investigate one of the barns and..." His voice started to break at this point if his recounting and it had never happened before. This... This nightmare must scared him to near death. "A shadowy dark figure was standing there, starting at me. And everybody that I ever cared about... dead in front of me and I was frozen in my tracks."

For the next hour, Cat sat with Ethan consoling him from his nightmares. She's not a stranger of someone having been in the military only to come back home and your perspective on everything is changed. PTSD is not something one should take lightly. It is very real and very terrifying.

"Time to sleep. You can stay here for as long you need." the blonde offered. "I'm not going anywhere, besides Carter is at Kara's loft tonight so it's just you and me." She said with a warm smile. She knows that he doesn't really smile much except with Kara and everybody else he could have a small smile.

Ethan, for the most part, was a bit more calm now. Ethan came to terms that even of it's been three decades that he may not see his mothers again. He came to terms with that long ago. He feels utterly alone. Cat had been the only one Ethan would go to when he has his episode.

Cat was, by all means, a third mother to the Spartan.

Maybe a dreamless sleep wouldn't be that bad tonight.

"NOO! THEY SHOT FIVES BEFORE THEY COULD BE WARNED!" Carter yelled as he and his big sisters were watching Star wars: The Clone Wars.Alex chuckled at his response as Kara was being dramatic asking with Carter about the ARC Trooper's death. Astra was in the bathroom but Alex noticed her lover had been in there a while.

Astra stared at the little stick in her hand. Tears of happiness fell from her eyes and... she could not form words that can express how happy the older Kryptonian was. She quickly washed her hands and face before exiting the bathroom.

"Lexie?" She called out. successfully getting her lover's full attention.

Alex noticed how nervous her girlfriend is and instantly became worried.

Getting up from the couch she sped walked to her Kryptonian girlfriend. Alex cupped her cheeks in order to stop the incoming tears.

"Astra, what's wrong, my love?"

"Lexie, I'm pregnant!" Astra says happily.

Hey announcement made everyone, which was only four of them, very happy and cheerful.

Alex cried happy tears. They were going to be mothers and Cat was going to be a grandmother.
