Chapter 6
Remus and Sirius were so engaged in their conversation that they were startled to hear someone knocking on the door.
"See, that's what a polite person does: knocks on the door" Hermione heard Remus saying before the doors flung open and a smiling Sirius stares at her
"Hi, Molly asked me to come here and let you know that is time for and presence is mandatory, it's pizza by the way," she says without breathing "now I'm gonna get back there and tell her that you'll be down in a minute, ok?"
"Actually, we're over so we'll be heading down with you," Remus says passing through her, she smiles at Sirius and she's following Remus when she feels a hand on her wrists.
"Wait love," Sirius says and she stops "I just wanna make sure if you're ok, after this evening incident, that last time you freak out a little"
"I'm fine, more than fine, you gave me something to work on but I forgive you," she says chuckling
"What does that supposed to mean?"
"Really Sirius? You're that slow? Fuck, if you don't know, I'm not the one who's gonna tell you"
"You're an evil little thing with a very filthy mouth," he says indignantly
"Now, can we go? I'm starving" she says laughing pointing to the direction Remus' went and they headed to the kitchen.
"Hermione, darling" Molly says and Hermione turns her head to stare at the woman "are you seeing someone lately?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't get it"
"She wants to know if you're dating someone" Ginny explains raising her eyebrows in a mocking way before start giggling
"Oh no, not really, Mrs Weasley but can I ask the reason for this question?"
"It's just that's been a long time since you last dated anyone, sometimes I wonder if you're not lonely"
"Well, I work a lot in a hidden castle so I don't have much free time to go out on dates or meet anyone in fact, but you don't need to worry about me being lonely, I became really close to Severus so we spend a lot of time together"
"Being completely honest with you darling, that's exactly why I brought this subject, you see I have this friend and her kids go to Hogwarts," Molly tells feeling slightly uncomfortable "and they seem to think that you and Severus are... you know... together"
That's all anyone needed to burst into laughter, no one seemed to have control over their body and even Luna was almost crying.
"Me and Snape?" Hermione says after the shock passes "We're friends, that outrages"
"He's not that bad Hermione," Arthur says
"I know he's not, that's not what I meant, it's just that we're friends, good friends"
"So you're not dating him?" Molly asks scanning the younger face carefully for lies while Hermione shook her head "Oh thank Merlin, he's way too old for you" she says finally, making Sirius shift uncomfortably in his chair and Hermione looks at him
"Since we already clear that out can we please stop talking about my love life?"
Sirius and Hermione were the ones responsible for all the cleaning that night and as usual, they started to do it silently. To anyone looking from the outside looked more like a dance, was almost like their bodies knew where the other was going to be and what was going to do so they never need to say to each other what the next step was.
"So, love, you and Snape huh?" Sirius broke the silence trying his best to hide a laugh
"Don't even start it, I'm serious, it's not funny," Hermione says although she couldn't stop herself from laughing "Can you believe it? She brought that up in front of everyone"
"Well, she's worried that you'll be lonely" Sirius quote Molly making Hermione roll her eyes "But really, it's been so long since the last time you date someone?"
"Actually, I've been on a date, you know, casual dates, but it seems guys always feel so intimated by me, too many titles you know? 'brightest witch' 'female of the golden trio', I was hunting Horcruxes"
"Your incredible intelligence" he interrupts her making her smile
"It's almost like they don't know how to even talk to me, it was frustrating and embarrassing so I just stopped" Sirius nodded and they fall into the familiar silence again
"Library?" Sirius asked once they're over
"Always"
They were already in the middle of the stairs when the twins apparated in front of them out of nowhere making Hermione jump and clunge to Sirius' arms.
"Fuck, you scared me"
"You know, we miss the days you were Head Girl and didn't curse, it's a bit annoying now," George said "but unfortunately for you two, no one is allowed to go upstairs, to the living room please, we were waiting for you guys to start"
"Start what?" Sirius asked
"Sooner you go to the living room, sooner you'll discover," Fred said with an evil smile
"I don't trust them," Hermione said to Sirius trying to hide a laugh
"Neither do I, love, but we don't have a choice, do we?" laughing and making a gesture for her to move
They barely arrive in the room and Harry was already asking " They're finally here, can you two please tell us what was so important that need everyone here?" and with a wave of his wand George made a small table with 3 bottles of firewhisky and shot cups appeared
"Never have I ever" Fred announced "mum, dad is up to you two but you're invited, to rest the participation is mandatory so please sit on the floor around the table"
"Merlin yes, I've been waiting for this so badly, cmon everyone let's get started," Tonks said sitting around the table and everybody else followed her
"I feel like sixteen again," Sirius said sitting next to Hermione
"It's going to be fun I promise," Fred said "I'm gonna explain the game if someone never played, it's quite simple: someone is going to say something they never did and everyone who already did will drink so who's gonna start? mum? dad?"
"Oh, we'll let you kids play we're very comfortable on the couch," Arthur said
"Alright then"
The start of the game went smoothly, everyone was saying light things like 'never have I ever snuck out from my common room' and every person in the room - except Molly and Arthur - could already feel the effects of alcohol
"Ok my turn," Ron said "Never have I ever had a crush on a teacher, cmon Hermione drink it" Hermione took her shot after giving Ron a stern look, followed by Luna and Ginny
"HEY, you three how I don't know that? Who was it?" Tonks asked
"Lockheart was DADA professor in our second year, he was handsome and I didn't know he was a fraud" Hermione replied shrugging
"no, he wasn't" Harry and Ron said at the same time
"Mine was also Lockheart and I had a tiny crush on Remus when he was our professor," Ginny said laughing and instantly her face was the same colour as her hair
"Mine was Remus," Luna said
"Me? What?" Remus asked surprised, immediately turning red
"Don't act so surprised, all the girls from the seventh year were always flirting with you in the hallways, you're a handsome man and extremely nice so it makes sense that almost every girl that yeat had a crush on you," Hermione said almost without breathing and Remus seemed speechless
"Why nobody ever told me that?" he asked
"I'm only saying it now cause I'm a little tipsy," Hermione laugh
"Just a little, love?" Sirius teased and she rolled her eyes
"You're not too good yourself you know that right?" she said looking at him and frowning "it's my turn, let me think, never have I ever been arrested"
"Really love?" Sirius asked drinking
"I'M SO SORRY, really, I totally forgot that, please forgive me"
"That's alright, don't worry," he said reaching her hand and squeezing a little to reassure her.
"Remus, it's your turn"
"Again already? Ok, never have I ever robbed Gringotts"
"I expect that from Sirius, not from you Remus," Hermione said putting her hand over her heart and pretending to be hurt before drinking with Harry and Ron
"How did it become about me?" Sirius replied laughing
"Sorry Hermione, we're running out of options," Remus said
"Who's turn now?" Fred asked
"Mine" Luna said "Never Have I Ever had sex in Hogwarts"
"Well, that's too much for me, I definitely don't want to know about it. Arthur, we're leaving now, good night kids and please don't get too wasted" Once they were gone Luna turned her head to her friends "So, who's gonna drink?" and Harry, Ginny, Tonks, Remus, Sirius, George and Fred drank
"Hermione I'm waiting," Ginny said
"But I never had"
"Really? What do you call what you did with Krum then?" the redhead asked with a smirk on her face
"That's not fair, it wasn't-" Hermione groan and took the glass to her mouth, knowing that arguing with Ginny was a waste of time
"My turn my turn," Tonks said cheerfully "Never Have I Ever entered in a room without announcement and liked what I saw"
"That's extremely specific," Harry said too drunk to see his best friend as godfather drinking
"Evil," Hermione said sticking her tongue out to Tonks in a childish act, making the shapeshifter laugh.
Was only after seeing Tonks lift an eyebrow at her that she realized that he had drunk too. She was in the middle of her when she felt his hands on her knees and her heart stopped.
Letting the alcohol lead her she put her mouth close to his ears "I've been wondering if you liked what you saw that day, love" she whispered and saw a smirk appears on his face before she realizes Fred was calling her
"What?"
"It's your turn"
"Oh, let's see" and giving Tonks a devious smile she said "Never Have I Ever had sex with a werewolf" her friend laugh loudly and drank "And you say I'm evil"
Sirius took his hands off her knees and when she turns her head to see why she saw that he was drinking "Wait, what? Who-" she was about to ask when she realized and looked from Sirius to Remus "you two?" Remus nodded
"When?"
"Long time ago love, you didn't know?" Sirius asked and she shook her head
"It's a problem Hermione?" Remus asked looking concerned
"Of course not, Merlin, I'm sorry I was just shocked," Hermione said smiling
"Good, who's next?" Tonks said clearly drunk
"Me," Fred said "never have I ever been tied up" and Hermione was shocked to see Harry, Luna and Remus drinking
"Hermione?" Ron calls her
"What?"
"Drink it"
"Why?" and he simply looks at her and she shakes her head "I don't have to drink he said 'been tied up' not 'tied someone' you drink" she replied blushing and suddenly the warm hand was in her knees again and stood there during the rest of the game, the long fingers circling the side of her thighs. She was surprised at how familiar his touch felt as if she had been waiting for it for a long time.
What she didn't know was that it had been so natural for him to put his hand on her knee and caress that he only noticed it fully when the game was over and she stood up breaking the contact.
Sirius got up right away to go to his own room but after looking at her, he decided to help her get to her room upstairs to avoid accidents and despite the many complaints and objections she made, he went up the stairs with his hands on her back
"You're really saying that you're here to help me, considering you drank a lot more than me? How can you not be drunker than me?" she asks when he grabs her by her waist after they reach the top of the stairs and lead her to her room
"Experience love, you forgot that I have been drinking for much longer than you" Hermione only groans "but I can teach you some tricks if you want, among other things"
"Oh, how thoughtful of you" she replies with a fake sweet voice and tries to hide her face turning red as she tries with no success to break free from his arms
"Look at me" he simply says once they reach her door room and she's cursing internally every part of her that obeyed without question. She has to look up due to their height difference, meeting his gaze.
Sirius starts to move her slowly until her back is resting against the wall, one of his hands is resting right next to her head and he takes the other up to her cheek, stroking it with his fingers
"You're flushed love, tell me, it's due to the alcohol or there's something else making you nervous?" he asks in a husky, dangerously low voice, way too close to her and all her drunk brain could think of was how good it must feel to have his low voice whispering obscenity in her ears as she screams his name.
She snaps out of her trance and shook her head at the thought. In a moment of sobriety, she was able to get out of their position and walk away from him and into the room
"Goodnight Sirius, thanks for walking me here," she says biting her lower lip and sees Sirius eyes following the movement of her lips with an cheeky smile
"Goodnight Hermione, sleep well" is all she can hear before closing the door.
