Lori was in her room texting Bobby when Belinda peeked her head through the door. "Hi Lori! Whatcha doing?" Lori jumped, not realizing that she had been followed. "Texting my boyfriend. Why are you peeking into my room?" Asked Lori. "So you DO have a boyfriend!" Squealed Belinda in excitement. She ran to Lori's bed and looked at her with big eyes. "How long have you been dating? What's his name? When's your anniversary? Are you two planning to get married? Is he-" Lori put her hand over Belinda's mouth. "Please do me a favor and literally stop talking. You're WAY to invested in my relationship. It's none of your business." Belinda nodded.
Lori removed her hand and Belinda didn't say anything else. "Why don't you go play with Charles? He's always looking for someone to play fetch with him in the backyard." Belinda smiled. "That actually sounds fun." She ran out of the room to find Charles. "Nice girl. Odd, but nice." Said Lori to herself as she resumed texting.
Meanwhile, Lynn was tossing a tennis ball to herself as Brenda came in. "Hey Lynn?" Lynn turned. "Hey Brenda. What's up?" She asked. "I wanted to apologize for insulting you. And for trying to fight you. I have a hard time controlling my anger." Explained Brenda. Lynn felt bad. " it's ok. I shouldn't have been so rude to Lincoln. My family's been on my case about that. I guess old habits die hard." Sighed Lynn. Brenda sat down next to her on the floor. "Nobody's perfect. But we can't hurt those we care about. The consequences could be disastrous. You know one time I made Brooke run away?" Lynn was shocked. "What happened??" She asked. Brenda sighed and told Lynn the whole thing.
Flashback:
It was a cloudy afternoon at the Fernsby residence. Brooke had had another panic attack at school in front of Brenda during gym class and everyone laughed at them. Especially Brenda, saying she had an embarrassing sister. Brenda had been trying to become friends with the popular kids and now they wouldn't look at her without laughing. After school, Brenda had a lot to say to Brooke. "What is wrong with you?! It's a volleyball! It's supposed to go towards you! You're supposed to hit it, not scream and run away from it!!" "I'm s-sorry, I just d-didn't wanna to get hit. It l-looked like it would h-hurt." Said Brooke, a little scared of Brenda's tone. "Oh my god!! Why are you such a coward!?! You can't even play a simple sport without acting like a complete wimp!! Why can't you just be normal?! No better yet, why can't you just grow up!?" Brooke's heart shattered. In tears, she started bawling as she bolted out the front door, leaving Brenda alone with the now arriving guilt that had come with her hurtful words.
Pause flashback.
Lynn was very surprised. "You said that to her?" She asked in disbelief. "Yes. And I wanted to take it back the minute those words escaped my lips." "She really did." Said a voice. It was Belinda. She had been passing Lynn's room when she heard Brenda telling the story. Behind her was Bethany, Lisa, Lincoln, and Brooke. Brenda looked at her in sorrow. "What happened then?" Asked Lincoln. Brenda then resumed the story.
Resuming flashback:
Brenda had soon gotten an earful from her parents and demanded that she go and find Brooke and apologize. It took a few hours of searching, but by sunset, she found Brooke, huddled in the corner of an abandoned warehouse trying to escape the cold. Brenda slowly approached her. Brooke was a little frightened to see her. "Brooke, it's ok, I'm not gonna hurt you. I wanted to apologize. I never shouldn't have said those things. I should've have been there for you at school instead of trying to befriend a bunch of wanna-be popular kids." Brenda was trying hard to hold back tears. "I'm a terrible person. I can understand that you'd never forgive me. It's all because I can't keep my stupid temper in line!" Brenda was now crying and had her hands over her eyes. Suddenly, she felt arms being wrapped around her. It was Brooke, hugging her. "Don't cry. It's ok. You're safe." She said quietly. Brenda then wrapped her arms around her and the two sisters hugged each other as rain started to pour outside of the abandoned warehouse. Their parents soon pick them up and the two spent the rest of the night together. They even slept in the same bed to keep each other company.
End of flashback.
"After that, I swore I'd never let that happen again. And i here I am, nearly letting my anger hurt someone again." Lynn put her hand on Brenda's shoulder. "You can't give up. There'll be hiccups on the way, but that can't stop us from trying to become better people. It's never too late to change for the better." Brenda smiled and looked at her sisters and Lincoln and Lisa. They all smiled.
"Thanks guys. You're the best. How about we all do something together? Just us kids?" Suggested Brenda. Everyone liked that idea. "What should we do?" Asked Bethany. "How about the mall?" Asked Lincoln. "It's got lots of cool shops there. And they have an amazing food court." "That sounds great!" Said Lynn. "Nice one Lincoln!" Everyone else agreed. "I'll go tell the others." Said Belinda. And while she did that, Lincoln went downstairs to tell Rita, Lynn Sr, Max, and Luke about their plans.
