After Fastlane was over and done with, Charlotte got more treatment for her injuries, before texting Becky to pick her up and waiting outside for Becky to do so. In the meantime, all Charlotte could do was just look down at the blank screen on her phone, seeing herself in the reflection with the clouds of the nighttime sky, as if they were literal dark clouds that hung over her body. She looked at the brace she had around her neck, as well as seeing one of her eyes being swollen just a little bit. This was her one chance at the RAW Women's Championship, and someone took that chance away from her. But who?
"Charlotte!" She heard Becky call out to her, prompting her to shake her head a little bit, before looking up at her car.
Charlotte then walked forward and headed inside, allowing Becky to see the shape she was in.
"Jeez, what happened? Are you okay?" Charlotte heard the concern in Becky's voice, as well as a hand caressing her cheek."
"I'm okay, Becks," Charlotte responded, giving a slight smile to Becky. "You see the show?"
"Not entirely." Said Becky, before moving her car back to drive. "Just around the end, that's all . . . why?"
"I got jumped before my match." Said Charlotte. "Someone did this to me."
"Oh, shit." Said Becky. "You know who? Was it Peyton? Shayna? Maybe Nia-?"
"I don't know . . . Becky," Charlotte blurted out. "I don't know, Becky."
" . . . Sorry for asking . . ." Said Becky.
"No, don't be . . . sorry, I'm just . . . angry, that's all." Said Charlotte.
"Don't worry about it." Said Becky. "Besides, by the looks of it, you should be healed before WrestleMania."
Charlotte looked out at the window, seeing herself in her reflection.
" . . . Your test results came in . . . "
" . . . Yeah . . . yeah, that's true." Said Charlotte, turning her head to smile at Becky, before looking back, her smile slowly fading away.
About halfway through the drive back was nothing but the sounds of Becky's car going down the roads.
"So . . . what a debut, huh?" Becky asked, trying to get some small talk.
"Sorry, what?" Charlotte asked.
"I said 'what a debut, huh?' . . . you know, Rhea Ripley?" Becky then asked.
"Oh . . . yeah . . . that's great for her." Said Charlotte.
" . . . You okay?" Asked Becky.
"I'm fine . . . why you ask?"
"'Cause, you don't sound okay . . . like, at all." Said Becky. "And also, we're in the car, you can take that mask off."
Charlotte moved her hand up to feel the fabric of her face mask.
"I'll . . . leave it on, just in case, that's all." Said Charlotte.
" . . . Alright then . . ." Said Becky, as she continued to drive home, this time leaving Charlotte alone to her thoughts.
Throughout the car ride, all Charlotte could think to herself was how did she get here? After everything that has happened in the past few weeks, how did she fall this low, just like that? Eventually, Charlotte felt a slap from Becky's hand, getting her out of her daze and prompting her that they were home. Once that was established in Charlotte's mind, Becky then moved her car to park before turning off the ignition and getting out, followed by Charlotte getting out as well. They both then walked to Becky's porch, with Becky in front and Charlotte following behind. Becky then got her keys up and unlocked her door, before walking inside, the smell of pizza hitting Becky and Charlotte's noses, with Becky's being hit more.
"Honey, I'm home!" Becky shouted.
Footsteps could be heard coming closer before Seth came out from the kitchen.
"Hey, honey." Said Seth, walking into Becky's waiting arms and pecking her lips.
"You made pizza?" Becky asked.
"Um . . . yeah . . . made . . ." Said Seth, making Becky cock one of her eyebrows up. "Nah, just kidding, I bought it."
"Of course, you did." Said Becky, before pecking his lips one more time and backing away.
Seth turned his attention to Charlotte, who saw the condition she was in.
"Woah, Charlotte." Said Seth, before walking towards her.
"Honey, she got-"
"I know what happened, Becky." Said Seth, turning his head to look at her. "Unlike you, I do try to keep up."
All Becky could do was smirk and roll her eyes, as Seth attended to the Queen.
"You're not hurt too bad, are you?" Seth asked.
" . . . Nah, I'll be okay." Said Charlotte. "I just wanna know who did it, that's all . . . and when I come back I swear-"
"Hey, hey, save that anger for her." Said Seth, patting her on the shoulder, before walking towards the kitchen. "Now come on, the foods getting cold."
Becky walked behind her fiancé, with Charlotte following behind.
"You couldn't bother cooking, huh?" Becky asked.
"Hey, in my defense, I got you your favorite." Said Seth, going behind Becky to rest his hands on his shoulders as he pecked her cheek. "And besides, even you can't turn down one slice of pizza, even if you tried.
" . . . Yeah, that is true." Becky openly admitted, the couple sharing a laugh, while Charlotte hid her smile under her mask. "Roux's in bed, right?"
"Yeah," Seth responded.
"Good," Becky said, as she moved one hand up to Seth's cheek.
"Now come on, let's dig in." Said Seth, side-stepping away from Becky to grab a couple of slices of pizza, before sitting down.
Becky did the same thing as her fiancé, before noticing Charlotte just grabbing one slice, before walking out of the kitchen.
"Hey, Char, come on, you can sit in here and eat with us." Said Becky, stopping Charlotte in her tracks before she turned around to face them.
" . . . It's okay . . . I'll just eat alone . . ." Said Charlotte.
"You sure?" Asked Becky.
"Don't worry about me, Becks." Said Charlotte, before disappearing from Becky and Seth's view.
Seth then turned to look at Becky, seeing the look of concern on her face.
"Hey, come on, she said not to worry about her, alright?" Asked Seth, putting one arm around her.
"Yeah, everyone says that honey." Said Becky. "That's not going to stop me from wondering why Charlotte is so upset."
"Babe, it's just the business we work in." Said Seth. "You know, sometimes you'll get attacked before your match when you don't expect it, and-"
"Seth, I'm serious." Said Becky. " . . . I know Charlotte, I know when she's upset . . . but . . . I haven't seen her so down like this."
"Did you try talking to her on the way here?" Seth then asked,
"Yeah, but I didn't get much, just some small talk here and there." Said Becky. "Seth, I'm worried about her."
"Well . . . maybe try talking to her again," Seth suggested.
"I would but . . . but . . . maybe she'd be more open with me if . . . you weren't here." Becky then suggested, while trying not to cringe.
"What?" Seth asked, feeling confused.
"Look, I just want me and her in one room to talk." Said Becky.
"I'll just sit here . . . I won't bother anyone." Said Seth.
"Yeah, but you could hear us." Said Becky. "Charlotte doesn't open herself up to people she likes when she knows that there are other people in the vicinity."
"So, what, I'm just supposed to eat upstairs then?" Seth then asked.
Becky then cocked her head to the side, as she looked into her fiancé's eyes, pulling off the innocent smile she does that usually leads to her getting what she wants.
" . . . And I'll go upstairs then," Seth responded, as he got up from his chair, hearing a slight chuckle from Becky as he moved his chair back to stand up.
"Thanks, honey." Said Becky, as she stood up and pecked him on the cheek.
Charlotte sat on the couch looking down, as she heard footsteps coming out of the kitchen. Through her peripheral vision, she could see Seth with his plate in his hand, walking behind the couch, before hearing him walking upstairs to who knows where. Once Seth's footsteps died down and she heard a door open and close shut, she then heard another pair of footsteps coming out of the kitchen, where this time, Charlotte turned her head to look and see Becky in the doorway between her living room and dining room. They looked into each other's eyes, as Becky crossed her arms and leaned against the door frame.
"I heard what you said about me to Seth." Said Charlotte.
" . . . Am I wrong, though?" Becky then asked.
" . . . No . . . " Charlotte admitted.
"Now come on, what's wrong?" Asked Becky, as she took steps towards Charlotte. "It's just you and me, alright? You can talk to me-"
"Stay, back!" Said Charlotte, as she stood up and walked back and away from Becky.
"Charlotte, why?" Becky then asked, hearing that Charlotte's voice was breaking just a little.
"I don't want to hurt you, Becks," Charlotte answered.
"You can't hurt me, Char." Becky then said, as she slowly walked closer.
"Becky, please . . . just leave me be." Said Charlotte.
"I hate seeing you like this, please, let me help you with whatever you're upset about." Said Becky.
"You can't help me . . . nobody can . . . just leave me alone." Said Charlotte, sounding a bit desperate.
"Why?!" Becky shouted, her voice breaking a little as well, as she got teary-eyed.
"Because I got it!" Charlotte shouted. "I got it, okay?"
There were a couple of long seconds of silence, as Becky took a step back, while Charlotte turned to look outside the window behind her.
" . . . You got what?" Becky asked.
Charlotte then turned her head slightly towards Becky, only showing the side of her face to her.
" . . . COVID . . ." Said Charlotte. " . . . Alright?"
Becky's eyes widened, the realization hitting her right in the face before she calmed down.
"Charlotte . . . I'm so sorry." Said Becky, seeing Charlotte turning back to look out the window, before taking a step forward.
"Right after I got jumped . . . the doctor told me I tested positive." Said Charlotte. " . . . I don't know . . . how . . . I got it, or . . . if I got it earlier or not, I . . . I . . . I just couldn't believe it . . . You know, I did was what was recommended, I did what was told, you know, I . . . I sanitized my hands, I stay six feet away from people backstage, I . . . I did everything . . . and yet I still got it."
Becky could see Charlotte tilting her head down, as she took another step forward.
"I mean . . . I don't . . . I don't feel anything, I don't feel like I got it, but . . . I don't know, maybe a week or two passes by and it surprises me like it did tonight." Said Charlotte, tears starting to flow down her cheeks. " . . . I don't know if my life was just cut shorter or not, you know?. . But hey, I guess people should be happy, right?. . You know, because people are sick of me being in the title picture, so I'm SURE THAT PEOPLE WILL BE SO . . . SO, FUCKING HAPPY TO KNOW THAT I HAVE . . .that I have it now."
Charlotte then felt Becky's hands touching her shoulders, hearing her sniffle as well as herself do the same.
" . . . I'm so sorry, Becks." Said Charlotte, turning her head to look at the teary-eyed look Becky had on her face. " . . . I'm sorry if I put you in danger, I'm sorry if I put Seth in danger, I . . . I'm sorry if I put Roux in danger . . . I'm so sorry, Becky . . . I . . . I never meant to hurt you.
Becky watched Charlotte's head turn back to the window, before Becky wrapped her arms around Charlotte's neck, as she pressed her body against one of Charlotte's sides.
" . . . As I said before . . ." Said Becky, as she leaned in closer to her.
Charlotte's eyes then widened a little bit, as she then felt Becky's lips pressing against one of her cheeks, Becky holding herself there for a few seconds, before pecking her cheek and backing away a little, allowing Charlotte to turn back and look at her.
" . . .You could never hurt me . . ." Said Becky.
Becky then smiled, seeing Charlotte's cheeks expand out just a little, seeing her smile back. Soon, the two women stopped smiling as they looked into each other's eyes. Charlotte turned her body, so she could face Becky without needing to turn her neck. She titled her head down, as everything in the room slowly turned fuzzy in Charlotte's vision, with Becky being the only thing that was focused on, while Becky titled her head up and had the same experience with Charlotte. Becky unwrapped her arms, resting her hands on her shoulders, before moving one hand up to part away some of Charlotte's hair that covered part of her face. Charlotte's lips parted, as Becky then moved her hands under Charlotte's face mask, pulling it under her chin. Becky's lips then parted as well, as Charlotte moved her hands to Becky's hips, holding her in place as she leaned in closer. Becky tilted her head up just a little, as both women closed their eyes. Becky felt Charlotte's nose grazing against her own, as she leaned in closer and closer. Charlotte's grip tightened, as they felt each other's breaths on their lips . . . but then Becky turned away.
"Charlotte . . . we shouldn't." Charlotte heard Becky whisper, opening her eyes to meet with Becky's, their faces just inches apart.
" . . . Yeah . . . yeah, you're right." Charlotte didn't have a choice to fight her urge, as she let Becky go, and watched Becky step back and away from her. "Sorry, I . . . I couldn't help myself there."
" . . . Same here . . ." Said Becky.
Becky turned her head to look at her coffee table, before looking back at Charlotte.
"Didn't touch your pizza, I see." Said Becky.
"Yeah . . . sorry, I wasn't that hungry." Said Charlotte.
"It's okay." Said Becky. "I wasn't either.
The two women stood, now about a foot of air between the two, as they stood silent for a little bit.
"Well, um . . . I'll put the food away, and . . . then I'll head to bed." Said Becky.
"Alright." Said Charlotte. "I'm getting pretty tired as well."
Charlotte saw Becky smile a little bit before she went and got Charlotte's plate, before walking back into the kitchen. Being alone for now, Charlotte walked forward, sitting on the couch and getting a bit more comfortable on the couch, pulling the blankets over her body. She heard the fridge from the kitchen opening and closing, before hearing Becky walking back into the living room, Charlotte turning her head to look at her. Becky smiled, as she went to sit on the couch next to her, before pulling her in for a hug, in which Charlotte happily returned the favor. She felt one of Becky's arms around her neck and the other around her waist, as Charlotte did the same to her, while both women rested their heads on each other's shoulders.
"You're gonna be okay, Char." Said Becky.
" . . . With you here with me, I'll be okay." Said Charlotte.
" . . . Ditto . . ." Said Becky, before the two women broke their hug and looked at one another. "Good night."
"Good night." Said Charlotte, as Becky got up from the couch.
The two didn't take their eyes off of one another, as Becky walked behind the couch and upstairs until their gaze had to be broken due to Becky disappearing from view, and once that was the case, Charlotte laid back as she drifted off to sleep.
Charlotte heard the sounds of something cooking and a muffled voice, as she sat up, groaning a little, as she stretched her arms out as far as they could go. After scratching her back she got up from her couch and walked towards the smell that hit her nostrils, the sound of that muffled voice she heard got louder and clearer. Charlotte walked through the doorway, looking into the kitchen to see Becky on the phone with somebody as she cooked.
"So, about what you had planned for me . . . I can't make it, sorry Steph . . ." Charlotte heard Becky talking. " . . . I'm sorry Steph, I . . . I found out that Charlotte has COVID, and I'm taking care of her . . . . . . It was last night when I picked her up after Fastlane, it's . . . I don't want to get into more detail . . . . . . um . . ."
Becky turned her head to see Charlotte, leaning against the doorframe.
"She's doing well right now." Said Becky, smiling at Charlotte and getting one in return.
"Well, I hope she feels better, and . . . I'm sorry this happened to her, but are you sure having her in your household will be okay?" Stephanie asked.
"She's got nowhere else, Steph." Said Becky. "Nowhere but my house."
"How come?" Stephanie then asked.
"It's . . . personal." Said Becky, as she looked down at one of Charlotte's hands that buried under her arms.
" . . . I see . . ." Said Stephanie. " . . . well, take care of Charlotte then, Becky. I'll work with my team and maybe we can figure out another time for you to return, alright?"
"Yep, fine with me." Said Becky.
"And take care of Charlotte, alright?" Asked Stephanie. "And tell her I said 'hi' and 'I hope you feel better."
"I will," Becky responded.
"Good." Said Stephanie. "Bye."
"Bye." Becky managed to sneak in before Stephanie hung up.
"Steph called?" Charlotte asked.
"I called her." Said Becky, lowing her arm down. "I had to tell her about you. By the way, she says 'hi'."
"Well, that's good." Said Charlotte. "Nice to know she cares."
"How are you feeling?" Becky then asked.
"I'm feeling better." Said Charlotte. "Though that couch gets uncomfortable sometimes."
"Yeah, someday we'll get a new one, but Seth says it's 'lucky'." Said Becky.
"Ah." Charlotte responded as Becky moved back to her stovetop. " . . . Listen, about last night-"
"Charlotte . . . you don't need to," Becky reassured. "Just . . . keep that between us, okay?"
"Oh, yeah." Said Charlotte. "It's just . . . "
Becky heard Charlotte's words trailing off, prompting her to turn around and look at her.
"Just . . . what?" Becky then asked as she walked towards her.
" . . . I don't know how to say this, but . . . I think I lo-"
"Hey, you two are up!" Charlotte heard Seth call out from behind her, making her and Becky jump a little as they backed away from one another.
"Feeling better Charlotte?" Seth asked, Charlotte feeling him pat on her back.
"I'm . . . good, thanks." Said Charlotte, turning her head to see him smile.
"Good." Said Seth, before turning his head to look at his fiancé. "Morning, baby."
"Morning," Becky said, as Seth walked towards her and pressed his lips against Becky's.
Charlotte kept eye contact with Becky as she watched her kiss Seth. Becky held her fiancé by his hips as she watched Charlotte's smile disappearing for a bit and then reappearing a few seconds before she closed her eyes and leaning in closer to Seth as they kissed.
"Well, I should probably step into the shower." Said Charlotte, as Becky and Seth broke their kiss. "Becky, by any chance you have clothes for me?"
"Yeah, I should have something that fits you." Said Becky. "Just rummage around our bedroom, until you find something."
"You're not gonna eat breakfast with us?" Asked Seth.
"Nah, I'll stop by somewhere during my morning workout." Said Charlotte.
"Alright." Said Seth, as he walked over towards the stovetop.
Charlotte walked out to the living room, with Becky following behind her.
"You know, you shouldn't be going out." Said Becky.
"I know . . . but I'm letting this stop me, Becks." Said Charlotte.
" . . . Just be careful, okay?" Asked Becky. "And you know, you're going to have to tell the whole world someday."
"I will, tonight." Said Charlotte. "Right now, I just want one day to do what I want, and then I'll be stuck in here. But hey, at least I'm stuck in here with you, right?"
" . . . I'm serious, Charlotte." Said Becky. "Be careful."
"I will, I promise." Said Charlotte, putting her hands on Becky's shoulders, while she crossed her arms.
"Good." Said Becky. "Now go shower."
Charlotte smiled, getting one in return before Charlotte backed away and walked upstairs.
Notes:
Okay, if anyone doesn't mind, what is going on with Charlotte right now? I literally just woke up to see that she has heat again.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and I'll see you guys next time.
