In the girls' hut...
Mary Ann and Ginger had both already woken up and found their own envelopes containing the invitations to the Howells' party.
"Oh, I can't wait for Friday!" Mary Ann exclaimed.
"Me neither. The Howells always plan the best parties," Ginger agreed.
"This will be the first party Gilligan and I will be going to as a couple!" Mary Ann exclaimed again.
They had started "dating" after Thanksgiving, but they hadn't told anyone about their relationship until after the New Years' party, so they never got a chance to go to any of the Howells parties together.
"I'm so happy for you two!" Ginger said happily, although she did feel a bit left out.
She was ultimately happy for the two, but it only reminded her that she had no one to love her on the island. The Skipper had definitely showed some interest in her, but she was sure it was just being starstruck. Besides, the two of them were better off as friends. However, one man on the island certainly did catch her eye: the Professor.
When the two of them first boarded the S.S. Minnow, the actress couldn't help noticing how handsome he looked. Even in that plan button down shirt and slacks he still looked better than Cary Grant to her.
His personality was even better. The way he talked about science always made Ginger feel something. He was also the first man who took notice of her mind and her personality, not just her looks. Not once did he ever try to take advantage of her. In fact, sometimes she doubted if he even noticed her.
"Ginger?" Mary Ann asked snapping her out of her reverie. "Are you listening?"
"Oh sorry, Mary Ann, I was just thinking about something."
"It's alright. I was asking who you were going to go to the Howell's party with."
"I don't know. You think any of them would ask me?"
"Sure they would. I even bet both the Skipper and the Professor will ask you to be their date."
"Maybe," Ginger said smiling at the idea of the Professor asking her on a date. "What about you and Gilligan?"
"What about us?" Mary Ann asked blushing. Even someone mentioning his name made her blush sometimes.
Ginger gestured to her ring finger, and Mary Ann understood what she meant.
"Oh that. I know he's going to propose soon. He has to, we've been dating for months now. I don't want to rush him into anything, though. That would just mess everything up even more."
"Don't worry, Mary Ann. Gilligan will propose to you. He clearly loves you. I can see him staring at you all the time." Ginger winked.
Mary Ann just smiled and blushed.
"The Professor looks at you all the time Ginger," Mary Ann winked this time.
Not it was Ginger's turn to blush. "Oh, stop it or else I'll twist your pigtails off."
"Oh alright, whatever," Mary Ann said winking yet again.
Ginger shook her head, still blushing. "I better get going now."
"Where are you going?"
"I was going to go take a mudbath by that place we always go to. You want to join me?"
"No, I can't today. The Howells asked me about the recipes I was going to make for the party, and they want me to try it out today for lunch," Mary Ann replied.
"Alright, I'll see you later then. I'll be gone the whole morning, I'm planning on treating myself to something nice," Ginger said.
"Bye, Ginger! I'll have lunch ready when you come back," Mary Ann said as Ginger left the hut.
What both girls had failed to notice was that someone had been listening to their conversation this whole time. Samantha had been standing behind their hut eavesdropping to find some clue on how she could fit in and not get caught.
After she woke up from sleeping in the jungle the previous night, she knew she needed to act fast and find a castaway to transform into using the wajaberuba. She decided that transforming into a female castaway would be best because she still wasn't completely sure about how accurate the drug would act. She had spent the night deciding which girl she should transform into first, and she decided she would just wait until an opportunity presented itself.
And now, the perfect opportunity had indeed presented itself. Ginger told Mary Ann she'd be gone mudbathing for the entire morning. This would give Samantha the perfect time to transform into Ginger and take her place. When Ginger came back, she would just transform into another castaway, and hopefully no one would suspect a single thing.
Samantha grabbed the vial of wajaberuba she had and decided to follow Ginger to the mud pit. She figured she could tear off a piece of fabric from one of her clothes to use as the personal belonging she needed to transform into Ginger.
Once Ginger had undressed and gotten into the mudbath, Samantha sneaked to where she had thrown her leopard print dress and quitely ripped off a piece from the end. Except, she realized that in her hurry she accidentally ripped off way too much of the dress than she had meant to.
"Oh no!" she chided herself. "I shouldn't have done that. Well, hopefully she'll just think the rock tore it and not me."
Samantha tried to remember the directions on how to use the wajaberuba. She needed to take a tiny piece of fabric that the individual owned and then drop it into a bit of the solution. Because of it's highly acidic nature, the fabric would corrode and once she drank it, she should transform into Ginger.
She did as the instructions said, and then drunk the solution, crossing her fingers that it would work. She chided herself again for not bringing a mirror so she could keep track of her appearance change.
She decided to wait for a few minutes then she began notice some changes. Firstly, she felt like she had been lifted up a few centimeters. She assumed that maybe the drug had caused her to grow because Ginger Grant seemed taller than she was. Next, she noticed that her skin tone had changed a bit as well, matching more that of Ginger's. Deciding her appearance must be changing, she reached up to her hair, and noticed that it too had changed in color. In place of her blonde strands were Ginger's red locks.
"The drug must be working," she thought. "The only way I can know for sure is to get back to the huts and look in one of their mirrors." She set off in the direction of the castaways' camp.
