She hummed the melody, having opened the door quietly behind him to make sure he could hear it. She heard the shower start and closed the door again, turning and making her way across the apartment to the guest room.

She felt somewhat bad about using her quirk to make him leave her alone, but she needed space to breathe and collect her thoughts.

She grabbed her bag and pulled it into the bathroom. She pulled out all her shower stuff and started the water, turning it as hot as she could stand. She plugged her phone into her charger and opened up her music. She put it on shuffle and tore off the scrubs.

Her voice lifted and fell with the melody, continuing to gently use her quirk to try and keep him from disturbing her. She scrubbed at her hair, washing it with shampoo twice to get all the dried blood out of it. She gently washed along her neck and back, making sure to stay away from the stitches.

When she was done she turned off the water and dropped her quirk, continuing to sing just to pass the time while she brushed her teeth and pulled on lounge wear.

She heard scratching at the door and opened it. Her kittens rushed in, licking the water along the bottom of the shower. She smiled, watching them before she realized what they were doing and turning to leave the room.

She turned off the light and made her way towards the kitchen, wrapping the towel around her neck to keep the water in her hair from drenching her shirt too much.

She opened the cabinets randomly, trying to find a couple bowls. "The one to your left if you're looking for a cup."

She jumped slightly and her voice cut off from singing, turning to look over her shoulder at him. "Um, I was looking for a bowl for the cats."

"Oh, here, use this." He moved her to the side and knelt down to dig around in the cabinet under the one she had just opened. He held up two shallow bowls and she took them. "These will probably work best."

She smiled and thanked him, turning to the sink and filling one of them with fresh water. He leaned against the counter and watched her closely.

She turned around to find him watching her and blinked at him in confusion. "What?"

"What is your quirk?"

She looked at him confused. "My quirk? Why?"

His eyes narrowed on her and he crossed his arms. "Because I didn't want to desperately take a shower until you told me to leave you alone. So what is your quirk?"

She placed the bowls on the counter next to her and looked at the ground, rubbing at her arm as she avoided his sharp gaze. "It's called vocal reaction."

He grunted, keeping his eyes on her face. "Go on."

She sighed heavily and finally looked up at him. "I can control people when I sing."

He blinked in surprise and his head cocked to the side. "How so?"

"When I sing, even if it's just one word, I can make a group of people feel a specific thing, if it's less than three people I can make them do a specific thing, like reach into their minds and place an idea that they then want to do. If it's just one person I can hum, or just say their name and they want to do whatever I push into their minds." He watched her in surprise and she rubbed at her damp neck. "I try not to use it very often, but it comes in handy when I'm working the bar and people aren't having a good time, or when I'm walking around after class and just want to be left alone."

"You used it on me?" He asked in shock. "Why?"

She pulled the towel from her shoulders in frustration and tossed it over her hair. Rubbing vigorously to try and dry it. "I-I just wanted to be left alone. I spent the entire night at the hospital, with someone I don't even know. And then I was forced to go home with that same person, bring my stuff with me and stay at his home, even though we barely know each other. That same person then tries to take care of me, when all I want is to go back to normal. To what I know, and not the craziness that seems to surround me. So I just..."

Her voice trailed away and he moved his head and saw tears in her eyes. He walked forward and wrapped her within his arms. Pulling her tight to his form and resting his chin on top of her towel covered head. "Hey, hey it's okay. I'm not mad. I was just confused and wanted to know."

She sniffled and slowly wrapped her arms around his back, leaning her forehead against his lower chest and breathing deeply. "I'm sorry. I really try not to use it against people but sometimes I get so frustrated that it happens before I even realize what I'm doing."

He smiled and rubbed a hand along her back. "It must be pretty strong if you can use it without even thinking about it."

Her head shook against his chest and he moved so she could look up at him. "No. It's more like I don't have good control over it."

He nodded and looked down at her. His other hand moved from her shoulders and gently rubbed his thumb along her jaw. "Why don't you practice with it then?"

She leaned slightly into his touch and she sighed. "Because I never know who can hear me. I can affect people without realizing it. That's how I got the job at the bar. I was just singing and cleaning, thinking that I needed to go out later and apply for jobs. Then a knock on my door and I have a job. I haven't knowingly used it on him since, but I still feel bad everytime he pays me."

He shook his head at her and rubbed his thumb over her jaw again. "You bring people to his bar, bring in more money and customers. I wouldn't feel bad for that, even if it happened by accident and because of your quirk. His bar has more business now."

She pushed out a breath and he stared at her plump lips. He sighed and leaned down slightly. Her gaze focused on him and she sighed again, her body leaning up in his grasp, trying to get closer to him. "Echo."

She hummed, her eyes still focused on him. "Manami. Please, call me Manami."

Her eyes flashed as he watched, and the musical way she said her own name made his brain fog again as his eyes zeroed in on her lips. "Kiss her."

The voice spoke in his mind again and he breathed in the smell of her shampoo and body wash as he leaned closer to her. "Manami..."

His eyes began to glaze over and her eyes widened as she saw it. She stepped out of his grasp and he blinked in surprise as his mind cleared. "Dammit! I'm so sorry!"

"What? Why?" He asked in confusion. She pulled the towel off her head and turned away to walk back towards the guest room. He reached across and grabbed her arm, pulling back to him. "Did I do something wrong?"

She licked her lips and looked up at him. "No, I did. I used my quirk again."

He shook his head and touched his thumb to her lips. "No, you didn't."

She sighed and opened her mouth slightly as his thumb dragged her lip down before it moved back up. He watched it hungrily and she shivered under his gaze. "Toyomitsu. Please, this is my quirk, not you."

His gaze cleared when she said his name. He looked into her eyes and found them pleading as she breathed in his clean scent. "Part of it is."

"And that part is enough. I don't want our first kiss to be because I forced you." His eyes widened at her words.

"Our first kiss?" She flushed, and his eyes looked over it in pleasure. Enjoying how it turned her pale skin pink under his fingertips. "So that means you want us to have more?"

She smiled gently at him and moved her hands back to his waist. "Yes, I do. But not when I use my quirk. If and when we kiss, I want it to be because we both want it 100%. Not because I put the idea into your head."

He sighed and leaned down to rest his forehead against hers gently, keeping in mind her concussion. "Okay."

She breathed him in for a bit but then moved her hands to grasp at his. She pulled them away from her and turned away. She grabbed the bowls and began to walk towards the guest room. "Thank you Toyomitsu."

He watched her walk away and then held his head when her footsteps grew distant. Fuck, how am I going to fix this?

He rubbed his temples while he tried to think of how to help her with her powerful quirk. It happens when she's feeling strongly about something. She has to make some form of musical noise with her voice for it to work. So far it seems to work immediately. Fuck me, how can I help?

He finally threw his head back in annoyance. I'm too tired for this. He looked over at the clock in the kitchen. Groaning at the time. It's only 8am? Dammit.

He stretched and yawned before grabbing glasses from behind him. Moving to his fridge and using the filtered water to get them both drinks. He carried them to the couch and set both on the coffee table.

He turned the tv on and sat down heavily. He scrolled through movie options and jumped when he felt a towel moving on his head.

"Your hair is still wet, you'll get sick." He relaxed at her voice and tilted his head back to let her move the towel through his unruly mane easier.

"Thanks Manami."
