As always, thanks for the reviews and thank you for reading. It truly means a lot. As a thank you I wanted to get this chapter out quickly, and it's in Jace's POV, which I really enjoyed writing.
Disclaimer same as always.
Chapter 5 –
Jace's POV
"It's you." Somehow in that moment it was all he could think to say, and somehow she had whispered the exact same words back to him.
Jace was staring into the emerald eyes that had been haunting his dreams for years. So much so, that he had begun to believe he had dreamed the whole encounter.
For the past four years he had been frequenting Pandemonium searching for the girl with the emerald eyes and hair the color of fire, that had ignited a spark in him he didn't know existed and had then stolen away in the night. He never told anyone of the girl that had changed his world, and in time he was sure she had never truly existed.
Jace had always been considered beautiful or sexy or whatever similar adjective you want to use. His looks along with him being a football star turned successful CEO of his father's company, Shadowhunters, Inc. meant that he always had plenty of girls flocking around him. While he wouldn't necessarily consider himself a womanizer, he had never met a woman who interested him for more than sexual needs... until four years ago, in this very nightclub when he shared the best kiss of his life with a tiny red head that awoke a fire in him he didn't know existed. To Jace, while that kiss was extremely sensual and sexy, there was something about the tiny girl that pulled Jace to her in a way that was more than just physical. He wanted to know her, and he wanted her to know him.
Jace knew this line of thinking was stupid... Honestly, it was just a kiss. To get that attached to someone after less than 20 min of dancing and a couple of kisses seriously made no sense. Especially for the guy that had never found a girl to interest him. This line of thinking is what compelled him to believe he had either been extremely drunk that night, or it was all a dream.
But, with the girl of his dreams (literally) standing in front of him, he knew that what he felt that night had been real. Furthermore, from the look in her eyes, she had felt it too.
Once Jace was pulled out of his inner rambling, he was determined not to let this girl get away again. He reached for her hand and wasn't surprised to find the same spark at her touch that he had felt when he had grabbed her waist to steady her. It was the same spark he had spent the past four years looking for.
He leaned down and with the steadiest, sexy voice he could muster said "Do you want to dance with me?" Smooth, Jace, real original he thought as he internally rolled his eyes at himself.
His dream girl, being the vixen that she is, brushed her lips over his ear giving him chills as she spoke "There's nothing I'd like more. Let's see if you are as good as you were four years ago." She said with a wink.
God, Jace could feel himself twitch in his jeans from her words alone. What the hell is this girl doing to me?! he thought. With that thought, Jace gripped her hand harder and pulled her to the dance floor where he immediately pulled her body flush to his and started trailing his hands up and down her ribs then down to her hips.
She twined her hands in his hair and tilted her head back, so that her long red hair was flowing down all the way to her perfect ass.
They continued to dance in perfect sync, like they had been made for each other. Jace began to lean down and place soft kisses along her neck and jaw, and when she tilted her head back towards him and he looked into her green eyes that had been haunting his dreams for years, he couldn't help but think I have to make her mine.
Jace moved his mouth to her ear and said "I've spent the past four years looking for you. I thought maybe I had dreamed the beautiful red head that stole away in the night like my very own ridiculously sexy Cinderella."
"Trust me; I've been thinking of you, too. Every guy I've kissed since that night has been compared to you. And let me tell you, none of them have come close."
Jace let out a soft chuckle, "Of course they haven't, baby. But the thought of you kissing someone else makes me want to remind you why you should never let anyone else kiss those lips again."
With those words, Jace brought his lips to hers with a passionate force. She immediately opened her mouth to grant him access and pulled his neck to her to deepen the kiss further. As Jace nibbled her bottom lip she moaned into his mouth and he couldn't help but buck his hips into hers he was so turned on. If either of them thought their first kiss was incredible, this one was out of this world. After a couple of minutes, Jace pulled away to place soft kisses and bites on her jaw and neck and panted out, "Your name, baby, I need to know your name."
As soon as Jace got the words out, the girl was ripped out of his arms by none other than the cock-blocking sister of his best friend, Isabelle Lightwood.
"There you are!" Izzy yelled. "Simon and I have been looking everywhere for you! The cab is waiting out front, it's already 1:30!"
Jace's dream girl cast him an apologetic look and before he could get over his shock at the fact that Izzy was apparently friends with her all along, she was gone. Again.
…..
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Not. Again. Was all Jace could think as he raced to the entrance of the club. Sure enough, his red head - who he still didn't know the name of - was gone.
At least this time I have a means to find her, Jace thought. Although, that means was Izzy, who adamantly swore Jace off of her friends for as long as they had known each other. But surely she would understand that this girl was different, right?!
When Jace walked back in the club he found Alec paying his tab at the bar and cornered him instantly.
"Jace! Magnus and I have been looking for you... we are heading out in a minute."
"That's fine, man. Listen, Alec... what can you tell me about the red head that Izzy was with tonight?" Jace implored.
Alec looked at Jace with a confused expression. It wasn't like Jace to be asking about girls, they normally did the asking about him. "You mean Clary? She's Izzy's new roommate. Just moved back from Alicante. She's actually been Magnus' best friend since high school. Why?" Alec asked hesitantly.
"Clary." Jace whispered, loving the feel of the name on his tongue. He thought it was the perfect name for his sexy Cinderella. "Can you get Magnus to give me her number?"
"No way, man. You need to ask him yourself. You know how protective him and Izzy are over their friends. Plus, Magnus said she just got out of a serious relationship, so you know he'll be even more protective than usual."
Damnit. Jace knew getting Magnus to agree to give him Clary's number would not be easy. But he had to try. He couldn't let her go so easily this time.
Just then Magnus walked up to the bar and kissed Alec on the cheek. "You boys ready to head out?" he asked.
Jace decided it was time to turn on the charm. "Oh, Magnus the magnificent. Best friend a guy could find -"
"What is it, Blondie?" Magnus asked warily. Jace's charm never did work on him.
"I hear that you are friends with a certain five-foot-nothing, red haired, green-eyed beauty..."
"Yeeesss, what does Clary have to do with anything, Jace?" Magnus asked eying him suspiciously.
"Listen, we were talking tonight, and she was about to give me her number..." Jace lied. "when Izzy pulled her away. I really really want to take her out. Please can I have her number. Pretty please."
"Not a chance, Blondie. Clary is not some toy for your amusement." Magnus said with a leveled gaze towards Jace.
"I know, I know! It's not like that, I swear! I like her, Magnus! I'm not trying to get into her pants." Rather, not only trying to get into her pants, Jace thought.
Magnus pinched the bridge of his nose with a deep sigh and said "Okay, I'm not giving you her number, but if you are serious about getting to know her come to Garroway Books tonight. I know for a fact she will be at an event there. After that, it's up to you, Blondie."
Jace sighed, knowing this was the best he was going to get. "Okay, I'll be there." He said resignedly and dropped the issue.
Tonight he would get his Cinderella once and for all.
