Prompt: The moment Remus knew Sirius loved him back.
Remus had never looked at anyone as anything more than a friends. His reasoning was who would want to love a werewolf, but that was until the train ride to Hogwarts his fifth year. Getting on the train, he made his way to the maraunder's normal compartment. Before he could even open the door, his amber eyes fell upon Sirius. He looked different this year, happier, and even attractive. Pushing that thought from his head, he took a deep breath and opened the door causing all eyes to fall upon him.
"Hey guys," he smiled placing his bag in the storage above them.
"Dang you grew this summer," James almost yelled as Remus winced. "Oh shit, sorry," James practically whispered this time. "Forgot the moon is soon."
"Yeah, in just a few days," he replied.
Sirius sat silently during their conversation as his eyes never left the tall boy in front of him. His skin had tanned this summer, he had grown at least three if not five inches, and he held himself with more confidence. The few visible scars contrasted his skin and showed character and Sirius didn't want to look away.
"Sirius..." Remus said snapping his friend out of the almost trance like state.
"Yeah?"
"I asked twice if you could move down so I could sit."
"Yeah... no problem," he smiled and moved closer to the window. "Sorry about that."
"You are fine. Do you fell okay?"
"Yeah. I was just thinking. Why?"
"Oh I don't know..." Remus replied as James left to find Lily and Peter followed to see the girls. "Maybe because you ran away form home and have been living with the Potters. That's not to say you don't look like you are doing well. You actually look very happy and well off. Probably the best since I met you."
"Thanks Remus. Yea, I am doing great. Mr. and Mrs. Potter treat me like their second son," he smiled causing Remus' breath to catch. "They even invited me back for Christmas and any break till I can find my own place after school."
"That's great!"
"They even asked if you would want to come over for Christmas this year. You really should."
"I don't know, Sirius. I bet you there isn't a safe place for... my monthly problem. Plus I don't think the Potters would want someone like me over at all, let alone for Christmas."
"Remus, I am not sure why you talk down about yourself, but you have got to stop. The Potters won't care what you are. We don't care what you are. You are still you, Remus," Sirius said raising his voice this time.
"Sirius, no one is ever going to want me for a friend or to let me befriend their son or daughter. Let alone a roommate or a lover. I am nothing, but a monster," his eyes started tearing up.
This had been on his mind all summer and he finally let it out.
"That's not true."
"Fine. Name one person besides James, Peter, Lily, or you that would want to be my friend or a roommate. Name one person who would want... This..." he said jestering at himself, "As a lover. Go ahead."
"Me," Sirius said softly.
"Invalid. You can't name yourself because you already are my friend and have asked me to be a roommate after school."
"But you also said..."
"Don't pull jokes on me. I know..."
Remus was cut off by Sirius leaning forward and pressing his lips to those of the rambling teen in front of him. Pulling back, Remus looked at him with a shocked expression.
"I want you as a lover, Remus."
Remus felt like his heart would explode just from hearing those words. Instead of responding, he pressed forward to kiss Sirius as James and Peter returned. They silently turned away to give them space, having already known that Sirius felt this way for Remus.
