Race against Time

A few weeks had passed since Jane, Rose and their father had decided to stay in the jungle. For Jane to be with Tarzan, now her husband, and for her sister Rose to be with Nila, now her wife. The two sisters were truly happy together and their father, Professor Porter was glad to see his two daughters being happy and having found their true loves.

However, since Tarzan and Nila got together with Jane and Rose and spent a lot of time together, they were spending less time with their jungle friends. The two gorillas Flynt and Mungo, and their elephant friend Tantor didn't mind. Terk however... she was slowly getting jealous, but has been trying to deny it and figured that Tarzan and Nila would just come back right up and spend time with their pals and cousins.

It was on that particular day, early in the afternoon, that Tantor was waiting at their usual spot. The elephant looked around, being a bit worried as neither of his friends had arrived yet. "Hello? Tarzan? Nila? Mungo? Flynt? Terk?" After hearing nothing, he worriedly looked around, trying to be calm. "I just wait here... all alone... I don't mind." Before he gave a nervous smile. "In fact... I enjoy the quiet."

That was when Terk, Mungo and Flynt peeked out of the bushes behind Tantor. All three gorillas giving a mischievous smile, having the same thing in mind of 'scaring' Tantor.

Tantor tried to hold still. "Oh sure, a predator could burst out of the bushes any second... there'll be nobody who will hear me scream, but... I'm a calm lake."

The 3 gorillas sneaked up behind their elephant friend. Terk then pulled Tantor's tail "Boo."

"AAAAAAAH!" Tantor screamed out of shock and landed right on Terk, making Mungo and Flynt both laugh.

Terk tried to get herself free. "Ugh. Excuse me."

Tantor was shocked to have landed right on Terk. "Aah! Terk, you frightened me."

Flynt chuckled while saying. "You hit it well, Tantor."

Mungo nodded. "That was priceless."

Terk just rolled her eyes while Tantor got off of her and was able to get herself free. She then asked Tantor. "So where are Tarzan and Nila anyway? They should be here by now."

Tantor shrugged. "Maybe they forgot? The Lord of the Jungle and his Leopard companion have a busy schedule."

Mungo nodded. "You have a point, Tantor. Since Tarzan and Nila are now with their new wives, they have been 'very busy' lately."

Terk just dismissed it, denying it. "Come on! What's more important than an afternoon of spending with old pals and cousins, huh?"

That was when the three gorillas and the elephant heard some laughter and giggling up in the trees. Terk's mouth went wide open as he saw Tarzan and Nila, swinging on the vines with their wives. Tarzan and Jane were a bit fooling around, while Nila held Rose in her arms while swinging her vine.

While Tantor thought it was cute. Flynt and Mungo smirked at Terk, with Flynt answering with his cousin's question."How about an afternoon of spending with a new pall, huh?"

"They... they forgot us?" Terk asked, believing that Tarzan and Nila had forgotten about them.

Mungo patted Terk on the shoulder. "Don't be ridiculous, Terk. Tarzan and Nila haven't forgotten us, they're just spending more time with their spouses."

Flynt agreed with Mungo. "Yeah, I would have done the same if I had a mate of my own." Then he looked a bit sad. "If I ever find one."

Meanwhile, with the 2 human couples

As Tarzan and Nila were easily swinging on the vines, their wives were doing the same until they landed on a tree. "Not bad, not bad. Now, watch us." Jane said before she and Rose jumped to a vine, with the youngest Porter sister catching hers but Jane missing and falling. "TARZAN!" She called out before her husband jumped down and easily caught her before swinging them to another tree.

Rose and Nila swung up to them before Rose asked her sister. "Are you alright, Jane?"

"Hahahaha. Of course, Rose. Though I'm very impressed with how you've so easily adapted to swinging on vines." Jane said with a laugh.

"I think that's enough for today." Tarzan said with a smile.

"Oh nonsense. You know what they say about falling off a horse." Jane said while getting to her feet.

This confused Tarzan and Nila, as they'd never heard of a horse before. "What's a...horse?" Tarzan asked.

"I think they're animals that live in the wild and in England and are great companions to other humans, right?" Nila asked, having read about other animals not of the jungle.

"Indeed, Nila. That's exactly right. Other humans ride on them like we sometimes ride on Tantor. Sometimes they fall off the horses and get back on them again." Rose answered while smiling before they began swinging on vines again.

Terk rested her elbow on Tantor's head while rolling her eyes after seeing how pathetic Jane and Rose's swinging the vines tricks were. "Pff! Pathetic. I know rhinos who can swing better than that. What Tarzan and Nila see in them is beyond me."

Tantor could see what Terk was struggling with and told her. "Oh Terk, it's perfectly understandable for you to be jealous of Jane and Rose."

Terk immediately denied that. "Wha.. Jealous?! At Jane and Rose? Please! I am simply stating the facts."

That was when Tarzan and Nila joined their friends. "Sorry we're late." Tarzan said.

Nila giggled some while telling. "We've been... really busy with our wives. What was that about Jane and Rose?" She asked as she'd heard Tantor and Terk talking about their wives.

"Tarzan! Nila!" Tantor reacted nearly shocked as he grabbed Terk with his trunk, keeping her mouth shut. "We... We-we-we were just talking about you two and the misses. Uh..! Not in a gossip way of course. Very respectful. Right guys?" Tantor asked his gorilla friends.

Nila however had a suspicious look on her face as she glanced at Mungo and Flynt. Both of them held their hands while they shook their heads. Seeing that they weren't 'gossiping' about her mate or Tarzan's, she formed a smile.

Terk removed Tantor's trunk from her mouth and stated with a smirk. "As a matter of fact, I was saying that both your wives in no way, shape or form, belong in the-"

"SNAKE!" Tarzan yelled, making Terk scared. But as Terk saw nothing, Tarzan smirked. "Made you look."

"Oh why you..." Terk said before Tarzan started a wrestling fight with her while Flynt and Mungo did the same with Nila.

As Tantor protested as usual about the play wrestling, Tarzan, Nila and their ape cousins were having so much fun play fighting with each other that when they got to a rotting tree with a spider web in it, Terk, Flynt and Mungo charged at their cousins but Tarzan and Nila dodged, causing the 3 apes to get their heads stuck in the tree until Tarzan and Nila pulled them out.

But the 3 apes had many spiders on their bodies, which Tantor noticed. "Ahhh! Spiders!" Before he grabbed the 3 apes in his trunk and dipped them in a lake to get the insects off them. "Don't worry, guys, I'll save you!"

"Enough already!" Terk said, making Tantor stop and put them down before she flicked the last spider off her shoulder as Flynt and Mungo did the same. "Come on, they're just little spiders for crying out loud."

"On the other hand, though, you never know when you might run into a poisonous spider. The professor's science books really do help out with that." Mungo said with excitement, having been taught by Professor Porter to read and identify anything that may be a danger, even insects like spiders.

"What you and Tantor find exciting about the Professor's science books is way beyond me, Mungo." Flynt said with a bit of annoyance.

But while they were talking, Tarzan and Nila didn't see the spiders crawling on them until the insects had bitten them, Tarzan on his shoulder and Nila on her back, making them flinch before they got the insects off them.

"Are you 2 alright?" Tantor asked with concern.

"Yeah. It's just spider bites." Tarzan answered.

"It's probably nothing to worry about." Nila assured them.

"Oh that's a relief...cause now we're gonna bust you guys up ourselves!" Terk said playfully before resuming their play fighting, along with Nila, Flynt and Mungo.

"Can't you boys be careful?" Tantor mumbled.

"I'm a girl and so is Nila!" Terk yelled out, having heard that.

Later

While Jane does some painting at hers and Tarzan's treehouse, Rose was making out with Nila in their house, only to discover the mark on her back from the spider bite. "Nila, what's this?" Rose asked as she gently touched the bite mark.

"Oh that's nothing, Rose, just a spider bite." Nila answered like it was nothing. "Tarzan got 1 too but we're both fine."

"You both got bit by spiders?" Rose asked with concern.

A bit later

Rose took Nila to see her father to examine the spider bite. Tarzan and Jane were already there and the Professor was looking through a magnifying glass to examine both the Ape man and Leopard woman's bites as Tantor was rambling on about the spider.

"It was huge and ugly, with 20 legs and dripping fangs! Ahhhooo!"

But Tarzan corrected his elephant friend. "It had 8 legs, no fangs and was bright orange with a round head."

"Bright orange, you say?" Professor Porter asked before looking at Mungo. "Mungo, my boy, would you mind reading from the spider book for the symptoms of the bite, please?"

"Sure thing, Professor." Mungo said before he went to the table and got the right book, turning to the correct page. Which was easy for hmmas he'd had plenty of practice. "It says the symptoms of the bite include...fever, twitching, blurred vision, hallucinations and ultimately…" He read before going wide eyed on the last symptom. "Oh no."

"Mungo, what is it?" Rose asked with concern.

"We don't have much time." Mungo answered before he flipped through the pages.

"Before?" Tantor asked.

"Before Tarzan and Nila…"

"Die... from the venom." Jane finished for her ape cousin in law.

This caused Tantor to faint right on top of Terk. "Oh deja vu!" She said before getting free from the elephant.

"But we feel fine." Tarzan assured them.

"Yeah. Hey, this is Tarzan and Nila we're talking about. A teeny little spider can't hurt a big guy and girl like them." Terk said, overestimating Tarzan and Nila.

"I'm not so sure, Terk. I've read that some african spiders, especially red back spiders are poisonous enough to kill an elephant." Rose told her female ape friend.

That only caused Tantor to fall on Terk again before she crawled out from under him. "Stop traumatizing the elephant, please?"

Jane looked at her father with worry for her husband and sister in law and so did Rose. "Daddy, there must be something we can do."

"Yes. There must be an antidote, right?" Rose asked.

"There is." Mungo answered as he found the page with how to cure the spider bite. "The only cure for the bite is the root of the Mububu flower. They grow on top of waterfalls."

"Then if all this is true, we should hurry before the venom runs its course." Rose said with urgency.

"Rose, don't. Tarzan and I are fine." Nila tried to assure her wife.

But Jane didn't buy it. "Without that antidote, you and Nila will both won't be the, which is why we're going."

"Ah, let 'em go." Terk said before looking at Mungo and Flynt. "No way they're getting any mountain with those knobby knees." Making Jane stop in her tracks to look at her knees. But Rose didn't let what Terk said get to her.

That was when Tarzan and Nila got in front of their wives. "If you both are going, we're going too." Tarzan started.

"Besides, the closest we are to the flower, the faster we get this 'antidote' if all this is true." Nila added after her ape brother.

"That actually makes sense, Jane. Who knows how far the nearest waterfall is and having them with us should help." Rose said to her oldest sister

"Good point, but we must hurry." Jane said.

"I'd better come too. Someone will have to prepare the antidote." Professor Porter said as he put on his hat.

Terk still didn't believe that this was a big deal but decided to go anyway. "You know what? Maybe I'll tag along too." She said before looking at Flynt, Mungo and Tantor. "3 bananas says Jane and Rose will give up before we hit the river bend."

"But what Kala and Sabor? Shouldn't they know where we're going? Mungo asked, knowing that Tarzan and Nila's mothers would want to know what was going on.

"I don't...think we should worry them, Mungo. I mean, if it comes down to it, 1 of us will head back and tell them." Terk assured her cousin.

"I'm afraid Terk is right this time. Besides, they're in leopard territory trying to secure peace between Gorilla and Leopard kind. And I don't think the other leopards would want any interruptions." Rose said to Mungo. "Plus, someone needs to go to keep my sister calm."

"Yeah. So you see my point." Terk said with a grin.

"Yes, Terk, I do. Now let's get going." Rose said before they all began their journey.

Later

As the humans and animals were walking through the jungle to get to the flower, with Tarzan, Nila and Flynt swinging on vines, Terk stopped to scratch her left armpit.

That was when Tantor spoke to her. "Come on, Terk. We've gotta get to that flower ASAP."

"Why? We never worried about spider bites before Jane and Rose came along." Terk said with jealousy.

"Speak for yourself. I know I did." Tantor said as they resumed walking.

"And besides, Terk, what if Tarzan and Nila are sick? What if the spider venom does kill them?" Mungo asked with worry.

That caused Terk to look concerned a bit. "Well... that couldn't happen. Not to Tarzan and Nila…. could it?"

"Believe it or not, Terk, there are some poisonous animals in the jungle, especially insects, you know that." Flynt called out to his cousin. We just have rarely been around them."

"Maybe." Terk said before seeing Tarzan and Nila swing from vines and surf through the trees as they usually did, along with Flynt. "Looking good, you 2." She said before looking back at Jane and Rose. "How are you girls doing back there, pokies? Hahahaha." She asked mockingly.

While Jane was needing some help to pass a tree, Rose was more capable and easily passed it before helping her sister. "Thank you, Rose."

"Anything for my big sister." Rose said with a smile.

"Remind me again: who's helping who?" Terk asked sarcastically.

"Whom." Jane corrected. "Who's helping whom."

"Jane, Terk and the others don't talk the way we did back in England. They have their own ways." Rose said to her sister.

"I know that. It's just that old English habits go away hard, Rose." Jane said.

"Whatever. Fancy talk ain't gonna get us up that mountain." Terk said mockingly before continuing to walk.

Jane wanted to say something but Rose stopped her. "Remember, Jane, high road."

As they continued walking, above the sisters in the trees, a African snake was slithering. And as Jane and Rose were talking with Terk for mocking her again, the snake tried to attack them. But before it could hurt anyone, Tarzan and Nila jump kicked it away from them before they both growled at it like a gorilla and Leopard before the snake went to the trees.

"Where'd it go?" Tantor asked with fear.

"Maybe...it left?" Jane wondered.

"Don't count on it, Jane." Rose advised her sister.

After a few more seconds, the snake tried to attack Tantor before Tarzan and Nila tried to pounce on the snake but were too slow to catch it before the reptile went into the trees, with Tarzan and Nila following after it.

"Tarzan and Nila are slowing." Jane said with worry.

"I noticed it, too, Jane." Rose said with the same worry.

"The spider venom is already affecting their 'motor skills', right Professor?" Mungo asked his old human friend.

"Quite right, Mungo. We haven't much time before it takes its full effect." Professor Porter said with great concern for his son and daughter in law.

But Terk was still in denial. "Wha-what are you guys talking about? Our cousins have everything under control."

That was when Tarzan and Nila fell from the trees while still fighting with the snake before they fell off a cliff, much to everyone's fear for the Ape man and his Leopard sister.

"TARZAN/NILA!" Jane and Rose yelled out.

That was when Tarzan and Nila slowly climbed up the cliff as Terk, Flynt and Mungo helped their cousins to their feet. "Are you both alright?" Rose asked with concern.

"Never better, right, guys." Terk asked.

"We're...fine, Rose." Nila answered

"Yes, just fine." Tarzan added after his sister, even though their arms were beginning to twitch. And while the others continued on, Tarzan and Nila turned around while grabbing their twitching arms and looking at each other with worry and concern.

A bit later

As everyone was continuing the journey to the flower, Tarzan and Nila we're in the front, pushing themselves to move forward, much to Jane and Rose's worry.

"Tarzan, there's no shame in trying to take things a bit easier." Jane started.

"Jane's right, Nila, with that venom in you and Tarzan, pushing yourselves will only make it worse." Rose added after her sister. "We're sure Tantor wouldn't mind if you rode on his back."

"Actually, my back is killing me." Tantor said before seeing the looks Jane and Rose gave him. "Oh but I'm sure with a little stretching, it'll loosen right up." He said nervously.

"We don't need to be carried." Tarzan said, his pride kicking in.

"A woman raised by the greatest leopard in the entire jungle must push on, no matter what happens." Nila said with pride for herself and her mother before the 2 proceeded forward.

"Unlike some people we know." Terk said mockingly as she moved past Jane and Rose.

Jane wanted to say something but stopped herself when Rose shook her head. "High road, Jane, high road." Before they moved forward and saw Tarzan and Nila sitting on a tree root.

"Nila? Are you and Tarzan alright?" Rose asked with concern.

"Oh no, the paralyzes." Tantor said in his usual fear tone. "TARZAN! NILA, STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT!"

"Or...it could be they stopped because of this chasm, Tantor." Flynt said while pointing to the chasm.

"How are we going to get across that?" Jane asked with concern.

That was when Tarzan and Nila began run back a few feet but the blurred vision was kicking in, making them both not see very well before they shook it off. "Nila and I will swing vines back for you." Tarzan said a bit weakly.

"But I don't think that's a good-" Jane tried to say before Tarzan and Nila nodded to each other, ran on the tree root and jumped off the cliff and got to a tree to surf on.

"See? Picture of health." Terk said smugly.

But Terk couldn't be more wrong. Because when Tarzan and Nila tried to jump to nearby vines to swing back for everyone, they missed because of the venom affecting them a little more, causing them to fall, much to everyone's horror!

When Tarzan and Nila fell to the ground, thankfully without any permanent damage, they suddenly heard growling coming from the dark shadows before it was revealed that the growling was from wild jackals that the Ape man and Leopard woman could barely see due to the venom's effect on their eyes.

"Sounds like wild jackals." Tantor said before they all began going down the hill to get to Tarzan and Nila... before Tantor, due to his size, cracked the ground, causing him to slide down and bump into the others before they got to the ground and went to help Tarzan and Nila.

When Tarzan and Nila were fighting the wild jackals, with Tarzan using a tree branch for more defense, Nila was more ferocious to defend herself, slashing the jackals with her class and leaving bloody scars on them, though she, calling with her ape brother were getting weaker because of the venom, causing the jackals to get the upper hand before Flynt and Mungo roared and fought them off, along with Terk, who swung on a vine to kick a jackal away from her cousins and the Porter family, who pushed rocks at the jackals to scare them off. And Tantor, who used his trumpeting and size to frighten the aggressive dogs off.

When the jackals were gone, Tarzan and Nila, due to the fighting, fell to the ground before Terk tried to get them back to their feet. "Hey, get up you jokers you." She said before they fell to the ground again, making her finally believe everyone about the spider bite. "Okay, maybe there is something about this spider bite talk."

Professor Porter checked the pulses of his son and daughter in law and found it weak. "We haven't much time left." He said with great worry as he and his daughters looked at Tarzan and Nila, along with the apes and Tantor.

A bit later

As everyone continued the journey, with Tarzan and Nila wrapped in vines to Tantor's back, they finally got to the waterfall. "We've come to the right place." Jane told them.

"The flower should be up there, right, daddy?" Rose asked her father.

"Yes. But I think this is as far as Tarzan and Nila can go." Professor Porter told his daughters, knowing that Tarzan and Nila couldn't go any further.

"Then someone should stay with Tarzan and Nila. Someone with a great fear of heights, like me." Tantor said with fear as Terk, Flynt and Mungo helped Tarzan and Nila lay on the ground.

"We'll be back with that flower in 2 shakes, Tarzan." Jane said to her husband and sister in law.

But Terk wasn't having that. "Oh please, by the time you and Rose get back, Tarzan and Nila will die of old age. Me, Mungo and Flynt will go."

"Or we could go together with Jane and Rose, Terk." Flynt suggested.

"Yes….go... together." Tarzan said weakly, wanting his wife, sister in law and cousins to go together.

"Tarzan's...right. You both should go... with our cousins." Nila said while sweating and twitching.

"What?! But...they-" Terk tried to protest.

But Mungo cut her off. "You heard them, Terk, we all go together."

That made Terk relent before Jane and Rose kissed Tarzan and Nila on their cheeks. "Be strong, love." Jane whispered.

"You as well, my sweet leopard. Just like mother taught you." Rose said with love.

A little later

As Terk, Flynt and Mungo were climbing to the top of the waterfall easily, Jane was struggling but Rose seemed to be more capable at climbing. Flynt and Mungo saw this and climbed down to their cousins in law before gently putting them on their backs.

"Thank you, Flynt and Mungo. You're both a big help." Rose said with a smile before nuzzling Flynt.

Terk saw this and got a weirded out look on her face. "She must be taking nuzzling lessons from Nila."

"No, Terk, I'm taking them from mother." Rose said, referring to Sabor.

"Though we do appreciate your concern and kind assistance, Terk." Jane said sarcastically.

Meanwhile with Tarzan and Nila

The Ape man and his leopard sister were getting worse as they were twitching really fast, as If they were very cold.

Tantor, who was sitting beside them, patted them both with his trunk. "Tarzan. Nila, hang in there, buddies." He said in comfort.

But as he withdrew his trunk, Tarzan and Nila were seeing the snake that they had fought with earlier, making them put their hands over their heads. "Back!" Tarzan said with a bit of fear.

"Oh no." Tantor said before calling Professor Porter. "Professor! Professor."

Professor Porter then stopped what he was doing and quickly ran up to his son and daughter in law with his walking stick. "Hold on, my dear son and daughter in law."

But that was when, in Tarzan and, mainly Nila's eyes, the professor had changed... into Clayton, the human hunter who had nearly taken their ape family and Sabor from the jungle, the hunter who'd murdered their father Kerchak and the evil human that Nila had killed in a blind, nearly uncontrollable rage when he'd taunted her about it, forcing Nila to finally unleash her leopard killing instinct. "Help is coming, murderer." Clayton said with evil in his voice before pointing his gun at a mortally wounded Kerchak, who reached his hand out to them.

"Tarzan. Nila, please...help... the family, my…" Kerchak weakly said, trying to call Tarzan and Nila his children... before he was shot by Clayton's gun.

This only got Nila angry before she, in an act full of adrenaline and rage, slashed at the professor with her clawed nails while roaring like an enraged leopard. "CLAYTON, YOU...MURDERER! YOU…. MURDERED OUR... FATHER!"

This forced professor Porter to fall back before he crawled away backwards away from Nila while seeing why she was trying attack him: she and Tarzan had hit the hallucination stage and Nila was seeing Clayton and, if he was right, was seeing him kill Kerchak, just like he did that horrible night.

He then tried calling out to his daughter in law. "Nila, please! I'm not Clayton! He's dead, Nila! He's dead!" Before Tantor grabbed her tightly along with Tarzan and restrained Nila to keep her from attacking again.

Professor Porter then put his hands and Tarzan and Nila's cheeks before looking up at the waterfall, knowing that his son and daughter in law didn't have much time left before the spider venom took its full effect. "Oh hurry, my sweet daughters."

Back with Jane, Rose and their gorilla cousins in law

As Flynt and Mungo got to the top with Rose Jane, Terk was looking for the flower. "So where are the flowers?" She asked.

As the others looked around, they didn't see any signs of the flower. "They're not here." Jane said.

This got Terk panicking. "No flowers, no roots, no time to look anywhere else! Tarzan and Nila are gonna die!" She cried out in hysterica.

But that was when Flynt and Mungo saw the flower, on a rock in the middle of the waterfall. "There it is!" Rose told them. "All we have to do is pluck it from the raging waterfall."

"Look, there's some things that just can't be done." Terk said with doubt.

"Come on, Terk, if Tarzan and Nila could find a way to do it, surely Jane and Rose can. And besides, they'd do the same thing for any of us." Mungo said as he put his hands on his cousin's shoulders.

"All right, you 3 can hold this vine." Jane said while giving Terk, Flynt and Mungo a long vine that she had strapped to herself and her sister." Me and Rose will swing to the flower and get it. And do keep a firm grip, please?"

"You know that's a very good plan, except for 1 small detail: You and your sister! You can't pull this off!" Terk told Jane.

But by this point, Jane had had enough of Terk's mocking. "The high road ends right here!"

"Jane-"

"No, Rose, she has to hear this!" Jane told her sister before she got close to Terk while Rose took Flynt and Mungo sway so they wouldn't be yelled at because of Terk. "Listen, you, you can like me and my sister or dislike us, we couldn't care less right now. Unless we get that flower, Tarzan and Nila are going to die! So kindly close your mouth and hold that vine!"

Rose walked up to Terk and spoke more gently to her. "I have to admit it, Terk, but Jane's right. We love Tarzan and Nila just as much as you, Flynt and Mungo, Tantor, our father and especially Kala and mother do. And if that means anything to you, prove it by helping us save the lives of our mates and your cousins."

As Jane and Rose jumped into the rushing river, Terk said while holding the vine with Flynt and Mungo. "This is crazy."

"But brave, Terk. Even you gotta admit that." Flynt said to his cousin.

"Besides, Jane and Rose are both right. They love Tarzan and Nila just like we do. And whether you like it or not, that's something we all have in common, the humans, us and auntie Kala and Sabor." Mungo added after his little brother.

"Well, I gotta admit that you're...right about the loving Tarzan and Nila part and the brave part. They're a bit stupid but gutsy, I'll give 'em that. That's... difficult to actually admit, but you guys know how I am." Terk said with a bit of remorse.

As Jane and Rose tried 3 times to get the flower, the vines were close to snapping and by the 3rd time, it finally did, causing Jane and Rose to begin to fall as they finally got the flower. Terk, Flynt and Mungo saw this and without hesitation, jumped into the river and grabbed the vines.

"Got 'em." Flynt said.

"But who's got us!?" Terk asked as they fell over the waterfall and down to the rock that held the flower, both humans and gorillas holding the vines to keep from falling. "The vine snapped, we didn't let go." Terk explained Jane and Rose.

"We know, Terk, we know." Jane said with a grateful smile for Terk, Flynt and Mungo's bravery.

Flynt looked up and smiled. "Guys, I got an idea." He said before climbing up the vine and onto the rock, along with Terk. "Come on, guys, swing over!" He called out before Mungo put Rose and Jane on his back and swinged to a nearby tree.

"Yes! Excellent idea, my sweet daughters and dear friends! Swing!" Professor Porter cheered on.

As Jane and Rose tied the vines up to the tree, Rose called out to Terk and Flynt. "Okay, now you both swing down!"

"Way ahead of you, Rose!" Flynt said before he and Terk did just that, swinging safely to the bottom of the tree before Rose, Jane and Mungo used the vine to get to them.

"Hahaha, we did it!" Jane said happily as she and Terk shared a hug, settling their differences. Flynt and Mungo also shared a hug with them, forming a group hug.

"Knew we could." Terk said with a smile before they hurried back to Tarzan and Nila with the flower.

Once they got back to the others, Rose called out to be father. "Daddy, we got it! We got the flower!"

"Wonderful, my sweet daughters!" Professor Porter said before quickly taking the flower and synthesizing the antidote for the spider venom. "I am 96% sure this will work."

"Close enough." Jane said before giving the antidote to Tarzan first and letting Rose give the rest to Nila.

When the Ape man and Leopard woman drank the antidote, they opened their eyes with a groan fully cured, much to everyone's joy. "They're alive!" Professor Porter said with joy that his son and daughter in law were okay now.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, buddies." Terk said with a smile.

"We'd have been lost without you both." Flynt said while smiling with Mungo.

Tarzan and Nila hugged Jane and Rose before Nila signaled Tarzan to hug Terk as well while she hugged Flynt and Mungo, which they both did, as it was a team effort to get the flower.

A while later

After everyone returned home, Terk, Flynt and Mungo were watching Tarzan, Jane, Nila and Rose swing on vines just like before. "Oh yeah. I think Jane and Rose are the perfect mates for Tarzan and Nila."

"Got that right, Tantor." Flynt said with a smile.

"We couldn't have asked for better cousins in law." Mungo added after his little brother.

"Yeah. I admit I was jealous of them at first, but now I see I was... wrong. That's... difficult to admit, though." Terk said with a regretful look.

"Ah, don't feel bad anymore, Terk. It takes strength to admit your wrong about someone." Mungo said while patting his cousin's back.

"Yeah. Even... Kerchak admitted he was wrong about Tarzan and Nila and Ms Sabor. We know it was...when he was...dying, but better late than never, huh?" Tantor asked while thinking about Kerchak, even though he barely interacted with the late great silverback leader.

"Yeah, I guess so." Terk said with a smile. "So, you guys think we should tell auntie Kala and auntie Sabor about today."

But that was when a familiar female voice asked from behind them. "Tell us what?" The voice of Kala asked, making the 3 apes and their elephant friend jump as they turned around to see Kala and Sabor standing behind them with raised eyes.

"We're listening." Sabor said in a warning tone of voice as she smirked, knowing that something must have happened, making the 3 apes and Tantor elephant friend chuckle nervously, knowing that they couldn't hide anything from Kala or Sabor.
