Merlin was silent as he watched Arthur moving around the room. A small smile formed on his mouth. Arthur would make a great leader for hell.
He had so many ideas that he wants to implement into Camelot but at every turn almost is there Uther blocking his way. No matter how many times he tried to talk with Uther about it, he just managed to make sure it will not go through.
Arthur turned around to face Merlin properly when he realised that he could feel his eyes on him. "Everything alright?" Arthur's voice was tired.
"Yeah, just thinking." Merlin fell quiet again, his eyes tracing the way Arthur's body moved as he pulled stuff from the trunk in the corner of his room.
"What about?" Arthur stretched out slightly, holding a red jacket and a hat with a feather.
"You would make a good ruler for hell." It came out so flat Arthur just stared at Merlin for a long second before he shrugged slightly.
"Why do you think that?" Arthur walked over to the bed where Merlin was sitting. Gently laying out the clothes on the bed.
"You have great ideas for Camelot, you would be a fair and just ruler when your time comes." Merlin tilted his head slightly before he pulled Arthur down next to him.
Arthur was silent for a second before he crossed his legs and settled onto the bed. Blue eyes were filled with questions and Merlin wished that he were better able to tell people what he means.
"Do you think that?" Arthur glanced at the clothing before he looked up again.
"Yeah, you care about your people, even those who have magic and it is clear that you are trying to save them, even when they can't always see it. But you are still limited in what you can do." Merlin looked up to the ceiling slightly.
Arthur ran his thumb over the leather. "But why do you think these qualities would be good for hell?" The curious note made Merlin smile slightly.
"Well, there are different layers, the deeper down you go the worse the conditions get, but the first two levels are pretty chilled, they function almost like the human world. And truth be told we need someone to keep an eye on them since the rest of us focus most of our time on the deeper levels." Merlin gave Arthur an encouraging smile.
Arthur just gave a sad laugh. "Who knows the day that you take my soul might be even closer than we think." Arthur fell with a plop backwards.
Merlin frowned slightly. Blue eyes met blue. "Did something happen?" Merlin reached out brushing a hair from Arthur's eyes.
"Morgana had declared war against Camelot, she wants the throne with everything she got. And maybe that won't be such a bad thing. I think she would make a good Queen… Well now she was a few years ago, she would have made a good queen. Now she just has one thing on her mind and that is to wipe us from the face of the earth." Arthur gave Merlin a rueful smile as he pushed himself upright.
He folded his hands between his legs, taking a deep breath before he pushed himself upright. There is no point to wonder what will happen in the future, they will take it as it will come.
