Chapter 6: Reunion
After telling Yellow what happened as late, she understands that she wants him to be happy. While she was going through some reports, some stated that of a strange structure that was detected by some of her scout ships. Soon she brought in Steven, and he soon realized what that was.
Steven: (whispering) Lapis…
Yellow Diamond: What do we do?
Steven: Send in a Roaming Eye, unmanned…
Yellow agreed, and proceeded to send an unmanned roaming eye towards the barn. Lapis, still reflecting how she let fear getting the better of her. A roaming eye approaches the barn, as its presence was being known by the blue gem.
The ship, meters away, the doors opened up, letting down the gangplank, and Lapis being apprehensive, given the last time she was in one. But she decided to check it out, once inside, it was empty, and she decided to take a seat. Suddenly the ship's autopilot took over, a tractor beam took hold of the barn, the ship started making its way back Homeworld, with the barn in tow.
Once the ship landed, the autopilot turned off, doors opened, the ocean gem went outside, and she was here of all places. But she's not letting fear get the best of her ever again, and the first face she'd seen…
Lapis: Steven!!! (runs towards him)
Steven: Lapis!!! (runs towards her)
The two engulfed in a reunion hug, never wanting to let go, but had to when a certain pair of gems came by.
Topaz: Well, look who it is, the water witch.
Lapis couldn't help but chuckle, and they were catching up while walking to the palace.
Lapis: So, a diamond huh?
Steven: Yep, hope this won't change things between us…
Lapis: No matter what, you always will be my beach summer fun buddy.
Once the group had reached the palace, Lapis saw a familiar face.
Lapis: Hey.
Bismuth: (turns to see Lapis) Hey…
Lapis: Thank you.
Bismuth: Wha…
Lapis: If you hadn't poofed me, and trapped me in that mirror. I wouldn't have met Steven. So thank you.
Bismuth: You're welcome.
Steven: Bismuth, where's Peridot?
Bismuth took them to her forge, and Peridot was hiding in one of the crates, with Pumpkin keeping her company, and she can't get over the fact that Lapis left. Outside with the group, Lapis was concerned about Peridot.
Lapis: Peridot…
Peridot: (from inside of crate) Go away.
Lapis: Peridot, I know you're in there. Look, if you don't want to accept what I'm saying, and I get it… but I'm sorry for the pain that I've caused you. I know, I wasn't there when you needed me, just like back at the barn… what kind of friend that makes me, a terrible one. Would you come over here, so I can tell you that to your face.
The crate opened up, indicating the crate Peridot was in, the green dorito was getting out, pulled out her tape recorder, and pressed "record".
Lapis: Oh, I'm such a clod!
Hearing the rewinding tape, Lapis was surprised by calling herself a clod. The ocean gem was happy to see her barn-mate, and pulled her into a hug.
Peridot: I missed you clod!
Lapis: I know, I know, but I promise that I'll never leave you or Steven ever again, and that's a promise I'm willing to keep.
Spinel entered the room, with some news from the Diamonds.
Spinel: Bro, the Diamonds need you.
Steven: I gotta go! Are you going to be okay?
Lapis: I'll be fine. Just do what you're gonna do.
Steven nodded and followed Spinel to the Diamonds, where they were having a meeting.
Steven: I'm here! What's the problem?
Yellow Diamond: We've just recently found out about a rebel group, we wanted to let you know, and we just wanted to keep you safe.
The hybrid was content that they cared about him, as he was walking back to regroup the others, he passed by Pink Pearl. Which was his mother's original pearl, while the pearl he knew belonged to White, makes sense if you think about it, like gem placement and personality. The hybrid thought that he saw a silhouette of a small gem, but he ignored it.
Back with the others, Jade, Topaz, and Spinel were showing Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth what happened and why he got decapitated. The video showed a frame for a slingshot, with Spinel being stretched out to emulate the rubber. Topaz was stretching the rubberhose gem, when he fired. Only his head was. You can guess the rest…
Once Steven came back from the Diamonds, he had a loving look towards Lapis, who blushes a deep blue. This warranted a knowing look between Jade, Topaz, and Peridot.
