As soon as Hannah and Barbara exited out of the truck, they heard Amanda yelling out, "Oi, I didn't know either of you airheads were that fucking crazy." Barbara face grew a shade of red from embarrassment that just happen. Indy walked up towards Barbara and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Kid, you did good," he said, reassuring Barbara. He then turned to the group and said, "Now, Akko, can you lead us to where you find the staff."
Akko nods her head and the group started back on their journey. As the group journeyed through the forest, Indy felt a feeling that they were being watched. "So, can anyone tell me about this forest?" he asked, trying to get information.
"Well, there is a bridge that connects that forest to Luna Nova about 7 or 8 hours walk from here. It is a ricktey wooden bridge, but it is the best way to get to the school. The forest itself has its own magic source. There is a legend that the spirits of the nine olde witches watches the Forest," Diana explains.
"Oh and don't forget about the giant chicken who breathes fire and stone," Akko said, trying her best to catch up to Indy.
"Giant chicken?" Indy asked, not believing what Akko said.
"Well, the last time I was here there was, I don't know if there is now. Anyways you don't have to worry about it," said Akko.
The group continued their journey, but there Indy heard a sound. "Hey girls, Short Round, don't move," Indy said. The group stopped dead in their tracks and once they did they saw that they were surrounded by people with swords and guns aimed at them. Stepping out of the group was a familiar face.
"Well Dr. Jones, it seems that we meet again," Heinz said.
"It seems so," Indy said.
"And you brought the girls, how cute. Do you know how special they are?" Heinz asked.
"Yeah, I do, so what?" Indy snarked back.
"So, you do understand the power of the Staff of the Stars and why I need to unlock the truth of the Grand Triskelion?" Heinz asked.
"I understand that the Eye of the Jackal is another cult like the Thuggee cult who wants total power over good," Indy said.
"You don't believe Dr. Jones?" Heinz asked in disbelief.
"I believe that you are a mad man chasing only legend," Indy said.
"Then you will believe," Heinz said, "You and your girls will show us the location of the staff." And with that, the men surrounded the group. The group had no choice but to follow Heinz through the jungle. As they were walking, Sucy walked up towards Indy and whispered, "Dr. Jones, I have an idea of how we can escape but as soon as the plan works, we have to run."
"What's your plan?" Indy asked.
"Don't worry about it just follow my lead," Sucy said. Sucy went and told the rest of the girls and Short Round about the plan and as soon as everyone knew what was going on, Heinz stopped ang grabbed Akko.
"Since you seem like the person who knows how this staff works, you will bring to me," Heinz said.
"And what if I don't, what are you going to do about it?" Akko asked crossing her arms and looking away from the Cult leader.
Heinz took out his Luger and cocked the gun. He then put against Akko's head, "Now, would please do it kindly?" Heinz asked with smug looked on his face.
Akko, without any other choice, begrudgingly do it. She took a deep breathe and said, "Noctu Orgei Aude Fraetor." Nothing happen and as soon as Heinz push the gun deeper into Akko's temple, Sucy yelled out, "Akko, remember the one I taught the first time we met. That is the spell to summon the Shiny Rod." Akko, catching on to what Sucy meant, yelled, "Kutchur Katela Flala." Nothing happen for a few minutes until everybody felt the ground shake.
"What is going on?" Heinz asked trying to balance himself.
"If you ever done your research, you will learn that there is this huge chicken called a Cockatrice. Their feathers are well known for their poison and are always collected by potion masters, but they breathe fire and stone. So the spell that my friend has yelled out doesn't show the shiny rod, but instead it means, 'Come over here you stupid chicken'," Sucy explained. And with that Her, Indy, Short Round, and the rest of the girls started running, not wanting to deal with the huge chicken.
"You girl are crazy," said Short Round catching his breath. The group stopped at an area they knew will be far enough from the chicken. Half of the group were wheezing, not being used too all this running. As they were catching their breath, Amanda was staring into the distance seeing a bright light. "Oi, you guys should see this," she said, as she was walking into the direction. Indy, noticing where Amanda was heading to, followed her, having his pistol out. The group walk to an almost temple like area. Standing in the middle of the temple was a staff with 8 diamonds carved into it. It was shining bright like a star and almost blind the group.
"That's…That's the shiny rod," Akko said surprised.
Indy, in shocked, turned to the group and said, "You guys stay here and don't touch anything. I want you guys to be safe and we don't know if this staff will cause damage." The group nodded in affirmation and Indy proceed to walk towards the staff. As he approached it, he heard Short Round yelled, "Indy, look out." A member of the cult jumped out with a sword in his hand. Indy not giving any shits, shoots the poor sucker. The man fell back with a thud and died. Indy walked up to the corpse and picked up the sword. He then walked up to the staff, took a deep breath, and took it out of the ground. Feeling the magic flowing through him, Indy tied the staff around his back using his satchel rope as leverage. As he walking back to the group, he notice some of Heinz men coming towards the area.
"We need to head to the bridge," Indy said. The group agreed and they ran towards the bridge, avoiding any of Heinz's men. They were running as fast as they can, Akko and Amanda being the more fit ran ahead of Indy and the rest of group. As they were crossing the bridge, it was rickety and old.
"Oh, nine olde witches, please don't let this bridge fall," Hannah said as the group were running ahead. As they were approaching the other side, they heard the familiar sound of guns cocking at them. Looking in front them, they saw Heinz and the Eye of the Jackal standing on both ends.
"Hello Dr. Jones. Now, I see you have the staff, so hand it over or else the witches will be die," Heinz said, standing in triumphant.
Indy saw the soldiers getting closer, one of them holding onto Constance. Short Round try to get the soldier off Constance but ended up getting his arm caught by the other cult member. Thinking fast, he took the staff out from his backside and dangle it off the bridge, "Let them go Heinz. I said let them go or else I drop the staff," Indy order.
"Drop it Dr. Jones, it will be found but you and your friends won't," Heinz said chuckling. "Get them!"
As the soldiers started getting closer to the group, Heinz getting on the bridge with them, all Indy could say was, "Shit." This reminded both him and Short Round about India and how they were surrounded. Which gave Indy an idea. Crazy idea, yes, but an idea none the less.
"Short Round, chao che lao tu tan tun," Indy said towards Short Round.
Short Round, catching on to his plan, wrapped his hands and legs with bridge's ropes. "Hang on girls we are going for a ride," he said towards the Luna Nova students. The girls went wide eyed, knowing what Indy was going to do.
"Are you serious? Are you fucking serious? We are going to die, we are going to fucking died," Amanda said as she wrapped her arms with the rope.
"Has Mr. Jones gone crazy Short Round?" Hannah asked, scared that this is how they were going to die.
"I don't want to do die here" Barbara said shedding a couple of tears.
"There has to be another fucking way," Akko said.
As the seconds were dwindling down, the group was ready to meet their fate. Indy, having the sword aim at one side of the bridge, turned to Heinz and said, "Heinz! Prepare to meet Angra Mainyu in hell!" Indy started cutting the bridge, causing it to split in two. The Eye of the Jackal were freaking out, trying to escape, but as the bridge split there were a good amount of the cult members falling to their deaths. The girls were hanging on tightly making sure to not let go. As the bridge was split in half, the girls were hit by the side of the cliff. They were bruised but they were okay. Indy, Akko, Lotte, Diana, Short Round, Constance, Sucy, and Amanda started climbing up. Hannah and Barbara couldn't, both of them frozen in fear not wanting to let go. Indy was looking down and the fear inside of both girls. He also saw that Heinz was catching up to them.
"Continue climbing up, I will go get Hannah and Barbara," Indy order the rest of group. He climbed down to where two girls were at and put his hand out. "Hannah, Barbara, you have to climb up. C'mon you have to climb up. Don't look down. Just climb," he pleaded. Heinz was able to grab a hold of Hannah leg and started to pull on it. Indy, thinking on his feet, grabbed on to one of ropes and slid down kicking Heinz in the stomach. Heinz slid down a couple of rows making another cult member fall to his death. Hannah and Barbara, not wanting to die, decide to climb to the top cause they know that is what Indy do. Indy, happy about them finally climbing up, decide to continue to climb. That was until, Heinz somehow caught up to him and grabbed Indy's leg, bring him down to where Heinz was. Heinz and Indy were fighting each other. Heinz was having the high ground until Indy punched his face. Heinz then successfully grabbed the staff, but Indy grabbed the other end and holding it tightly. The two men were playing tug of war with the staff.
"The staff is mine Dr. Jones!" yelled Heinz.
"You betray Rashnu and the nine olde witches, Virtutem lunae lucem ac maleficis novem annorum da fortitudinem. Et rursus in malo, eo quod cadit super me, you betray Rashnu and the nine olde witches, Virtutem lunae lucem ac maleficis novem annorum da fortitudinem. Et rursus in malo, eo quod cadit super me. YOU BETRAY RASHNU AND THE NINE OLDE WITCHES, VIRTUTEM LUNAE LUCEM AC MALEFICIS NOVEM ANNORUM DA FORTITUDINEM. ET RURSUS IN MALO, EO QUOD CADIT SUPER ME!" Indy chanted, each time getting louder. The staff started to glow, giving off a bright light that resonated through Indy. Indy, feeling the magic flowing through him, continued chanting while pointing the staff at Heinz. Heinz felt his hands getting set on fire, letting them go from the bridge and falling to his death. Indy saw the body going splat and then he continued going up the bridge. As he was climbing, the remaining cult members started shooting at Indy.
"Oh come on!" Indy said, still climbing.
The Short Round and the rest of the Luna Nova students saw a white glow where the cliff was. "No, it can't be, can it?" Diana asked.
"What is it, Diana?" Akko asked.
"Mr. Jones just unlocked the secrets of the Shiny Rod," she said, smiling herself. Diana notice Hannah struggling to pick herself up from the bridge. She walked up and extended her hands to Hannah and Barbara pulling them from the bridge. As the cult member continued shooting at Indy, the kids heard a couple voices and the next thing they know was that a mix of soldiers and witches were fighting against the remaining cult members.
"It is about fucking time the fucking calvary comes and rescues us," Amanda said relieved.
The fighting was brief as the cult members decided to surrender to the overwhelming forces of the Luna Nova professors and the British National Guard. The girls were about to walk towards the reinforcements, when all of a sudden they heard the sound of dirt being crushed. They turned around and saw someone having the staff on top. Then a familiar face coming up on top struggling to get a footing.
"Indy!" Short Round yelled, running and pulling him up to solid ground.
"Professor Jones!" the rest of the girls yelled in delighted, all of them running towards Indy and hugging him tightly.
"Don't you ever fucking do that again," Akko said in tears. The group laughed together knowing that the danger is far behind them. As they were laughing a witch walked up towards them.
"Dr. Jones?" the witch asked.
"Yes," Indy said.
"We have been expecting you," the witch said, "Please follow us." The group did as the witch said and followed her.
Author's notes: This is by far the best chapter and favorite I have done. Like I said, it was going to have a Temple of Doom finale and I was not kidding. Man having Indy use the staff was the best idea mainly because I knew someone like Indy can be able to harnass the power, without turning crazy. I honestly love the reactions of the girls when Indy cut the bridge. That is by far the best moment. And honestly I think out of all the girls, Hannah and Barbara will be the ones who would be petrified with fear. Even though they are mean girls in the show it is all for show and they are more humanize. Also I just love having the different reactions of the characters and having a reason why to go back down the bridge.
Now there is one more chapter left of this fanfic. I know, sad right. But that doesn't mean it will be a goodbye. What I am planning to do is actually split this fanfic into two parts. I won't spoil why, but I will tell you a sneak peak. This part 2 will have none other than Indy's dad. Henry Jones. So that is going to be fun. Also can't wait until all of the comedic humor.
